Description
BRAIN DONORS is the hilarious story about a wealthy widow Lillian (Nancy Marchand) who decides to found a ballet company after getting legal advice from her lawyer Roland Flakfizer (Turturro). Before long, she has two incapable assistants including a useless jack-of-all-trades and master of none named Jacques (Nelson) and Rocco (Smith) who is a cab driver whose credentials include pool cleaner, liposuctioner and toupee salesman. The result is an outrageously funny attack on high society as the characters unintentionally create a mess out of every endeavor.

Hilarious & Entertaining.......2007-05-30
My husband first showed me this movie when we were just college sweethearts, and because I was a serious ballet dancer and I also loved corny comedies, he knew I would love this movie. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves physical (and sometimes ridiculous) comedy. My favorite scene is the one of the serious ballet dancers of Swan Lake amidst the giant yellow duck being persued by hunters. You will laugh throughout the entire movie and be highly entertained.
hahahaha.......2007-05-25
I love this movie. I saw it when I was a little kid and I wanted it to be released on dvd for years! Finally it did, I love it even more! It's old comedy but it's great.
Funny, but could have been better.......2007-05-10
A Marx Brothers homage with John Turturro in the Groucho role. Plot is incidental with some scenes directly out of Marx Brothers films. Unfortunately the other two actors opposite Turturro are not nearly as funny. Still, good for a few laughs when you're in the mood.
A True Cult Movie.......2007-03-01
A short word on Brain Donors (1992): Get it. I don't even think it was featured for a full week at the cinemas, but it made cable and that's where I found it. It is truly a great fast talking Marx Brothers movie--but made fifty years later. John Turturro is Groucho, Mel Smith is an English Chico and Bob Nelson is not quite a mute Harpo. But that's all right, we needed a new Marx Brother movie anyhow, and these guys will do. It's truly a clone of "Night At The Opera" but dressed up nineties-style and ballet instead of opera. So get it anyway and be prepared to laugh. By the way it came from the group that did Naked Gun and Hot Shots! movies, so you will know what you are in for. Enjoy!
An affectionate and hilarious tribute to the Brothers Marx.......2006-11-22
Whether or not you have ever seen a Marx Brothers movie, BRAIN DONORS will make you laugh out loud. Writer Pat Proft, Director Dennis Dugan and head wackos the Zucker Brothers have crafted a tribute to the kings of anarchic comedy. Specifically modeled on A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, John Turturro has the Groucho part, Bob Nelson has Harpo (and he gets to talk, too!), British comic Mel Smith has Chico, Nancy Marchand takes Margaret Dumont's role, and everyone has a grand time. From the opening Claymation titles to the climactic destruction of a ballet, it's fast, furious and very, very funny. BRAIN DONORS came on the tail end of the AIRPLANE-inspired comedies of the Eighties, so not very many people saw it in theatres the first time around. Fortunately, we now have it on DVD. Enjoy!
