Some people think this stuff is silly, but it always makes me laugh. I am starting a dvd collection of varioius movies and old tv shows, this is the perfect addition. Works out to about 5 dollars an episode, can't beat that.
I would like to collect all of them, the ones with Shemp Too!

I loved the Curly Classics, A plumbing we will go, and Micro-phonies, and men in black are the best, and the others are great too

In Micro-Phonies when the Stooges flip the cherries into the man mouth, it gets me every time, I fall over with laughter !!

And a Plumbing we will go, this is just a CLASSIC!

For the money, a very nice collection of authentic Stooge shorts! I remember watching these guys when I was a kid, and wanted to introduce my 4 & 6 year olds to the Stooge style of comedy - I was not disappointed with the results this set provided!! Most included shows feature Curly, a few with Shemp, which was my preference. If you enjoyed the Three Stooges when you were younger, this set will bring back lots of good memories!!

2 out of 5 stars Too bad Sony/Columbia doesn't respect the Stooges.......2007-01-03

My middling rating does not reflect on The Three Stooges, who are, of course fantastic, but as a criticism of Sony/Columbia, which by releasing the Stooges on DVD in the manner it does, shows a tremendous lack of respect for their brilliance, as well as for their commercial success. We all know about how Columbia treated the Stooges so shoddily while they worked for the studio, underpaying them despite the fact that they were one of the studio's most valuable properties; sadly, this disrespect even continues on.

Columbia should be releasing DVD's that honor the Stooges work, not just exploit it. They could easily have made these DVD's into tributes to the Stooge's work at the studio, as historical records of their years of great work. They should have arranged the shorts chronologically, instead of by these bizarre 'themes', often based more upon the titles than the actual content of the shorts. As an example, the 'Three Smart Saps' disc contains five shorts that have the word 'three' in their titles, while 'G.I. Stooges' contains episodes where the Stooges serve in the military (not necessarily the US military, I might add!, OR the merchant marine(BACK FROM THE FRONT), OR just wear enemy uniforms (NO DOUGH BOYS).

This approach makes little sense, and it really breaks down on the 'Cops and Robbers' disc, which includes shorts where the Stooges are private detectives, reporters, firemen AND veterinarians!

Others have pointed out better than I can the other shortcomings of these discs (no special features, only five shorts per disc, etc...).

I would add another complaint that on several of the shorts, there are small snippets of scenes missing, which tells me that Columbia did VERY little work in compiling these discs. The prints ARE excellent, and the sound is good, but it seems that the studio just used the prints they had available, and made no effort to seek out others that were more complete. I KNOW that more complete prints exist, because like all of you, I have seen them for years shown on TV. How miserly and uncaring of Columbia to not put some effort into fully restoring these shorts. It could have been done, but apparently they did not think it worth bothering.

Columbia, SHAME ON YOU!

Despite this, a Stooges fan MUST buy them, because these discs are the only way to get decent-looking copies of these comedic geniuses' work. So, yes I have bought them, and yes, I will buy more of them. But every time I do, I will bear a grudge against Columbia.

This is the perfect companion to the other Three Stooges DVD collection here, the one that includes the following DVDs: "Curly Classics," "Spook Louder," and "All The World's A Stooge."

This set features the DVDs "G.I Stooge," "Cops and Robbers," and "Three Smart Saps."

The picture quality varies from short to short, but generally falls into the acceptable range, as does the audio quality. Buying these sets of three will save you a few dollars over buying each release individually.

The short "Who Done It?" is included here, via "Cops and Robbers," and is the highest rated short the Stooges EVER did over at ThreeStooges dot net, a popular Stooges fan site.

    Curly Howard on the cover...I've just told you the funniest moment of this DVD. These are the color shorts that most Stooge fans wish would just go away. They are not funny, but rather sad. Kinda like Willie Mays playing the outfield in skates in 1973.

    You have to be in the right frame of mind to get a chuckle out of "The Three Stooges" as advanced techniques have raised expectations, but if you can transport yourself back in time, some of the routines are still cute. "Malice in the Palace" is the best on this DVD. It's based on misunderstanding and inaccurate assumptions, like most Stooge pieces are.

    "Disorder in the Court" plays on another recurring Stooge theme, that of taking yourself and life too seriously. In the end the hapless baffoons save the day. It isn't as well written as "Malice," but is still an interesting piece to look at in terms of representing comedy of the era.

    The four public domain shorts are good, but everywhere.
    Ted Healy was incredibly UNfunny. He held the Stooges down.
    When the Stooges left that jerk, they soared. Historicly interesting;Yes. Funny;No It's a small wonder Healy got stomped to death in a bar-room.

    This DVD is great value for the price.Even more worthwhile if your interested in film history.
    Four of these shorts are well known classics featuring either Curly or Shemp Howard as the third Stooge.
    Some of the other shorts on this disc feature members of the Three Stooges in solo film before they came together as a team.
    A couple feature the full Stooges line-up with Ted Healy.
    I find the Ted Healy stuff very poor quality,but interesting if you are interested in seeing how their early vaudeville performance would have been like on stage.

    Buy this if you are interested in Ted Healy's productions from really early Stooge days. If not, skip it. The quality (audio and video) of the DVD is shabby...hence, the low price. There are only 4 of 12 shorts really worth owning, available on other, higher quality products.

    What a DVD! This has three hours of extremely rare, hard to find material. And its not filler, like some of the other Three Stooges collections out there; this is all content, baby. The best part about this collection is that it has many of the hard-to-find shorts with Ted Healy.

    The only problem is that no effort was made to clean up the video or the sound, and the original prints from which this DVD was made seem to have been in poor shape in places. A new release, with the latest in digital remastering, will be most welcome.

    This set brings me back to the days when i was a little boy during summer vacation watching three stooges and eating grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup and this is exactly as i remember it full of silly slap stick comedy and very obvious jokes. Sure the quality isn't the best but keep in mind these are from the 40's u can't expect high definition video as the guy below seems to think it should be. So anyway perfect set for any stooge fan well put together although we could have done without the little button thing at the top that says lines from the show.

    A 3-disc reissue of 2002's 75th Anniversary 2-disc edition from Madacy and C3 Entertainment. My earlier review of that collection follows, with these additional notes/warnings to this updated edtion...

    - Disc 1 is unchanged, with the Stooges' 4 public domain Columbia shorts transferred from mediocre 16mm, Screen Gems, dupe prints.

    - Disc 2 contains the same material as the earlier edition.

    - Disc 3 is a new addition, featuring 1970's TV pilot KOOK'S TOUR. Previously licensed to Anchor Bay Entertainment, rights owner C3 Entertainment has transferred home video distribution rights of this film to Madacy... the Super8mm source material is unfortunately/inherently bad for both, but this Madacy version is further degraded with digital pixelation problems.

    - All bonus features on Disc 3 DUPLICATE the content of Disc 2!

    On the plus side, this new version comes in a tin case with a sound-chip mechanism containing a grand total of 4 Stooge sound-bytes, from the 4 public domain Columbia shorts on Disc 1. Uh, yeah.

    Review of the earlier edition, from 2003...

    "With the title 'Three Stooges 75th Anniversary Collectors Edition,' and a very nice packaging presentation, you may have expectations of a wide selection of the comedy team's best work, or even some rarities. But...

    It's a collection of public domain material, much available since the dawn of home video on many tape and disc offerings from numerous distributors. You'll find the four pd Columbia shorts, DISORDER IN THE COURT (1936), SING A SONG OF SIX PANTS (1947), BRIDELESS GROOM (1947) and MALICE IN THE PALACE (1949), plus a handful of NEW 3 STOOGES (1965) cartoons. Original material is limited to a 10 minute video of hellos & introductions from Stooge family members taped at a 1998 convention in CA, plus some brief hosting segments by a Curly-impersonator. Visual quality of the shorts and cartoons is lacking, dark and non-contrasty, sourced from 16mm and vhs dupes. The cartoons are 'split up,' i.e., the live-action segments are under one menu, & the animated segments under a separate menu; the return to each menu contains annoying freeze frames that cut off approx. the last second of film, rather than seamless segues. From the perspective of a low price, maybe you'll feel you got what you paid for. But if you're looking for a collection worthy of the label '75th Anniversary,' you will be very disappointed.       DVD 1 -- 50 min A Three Stooges Celebration Using rare footage and scenes from some of their funniest films, this hour-long salute to Hollywood's most hysterical hooligans traces the history and careers of the Three Stooges, from their early years at MGM and Columbia Studios, right up through their still-sizable legions of loyal fans.

      DVD 2 -- 70 min The Thirties Here are Larry, Moe, and Curly - the original Three Stooges - at their comical best. In "Disorder in the Court" (1936), the Stooges are called as witnesses at a murder trial. In "Hollywood on Parade" (1932) - Larry, Moe and Curly appear with Stooges founder, Ted Healy, alongside Tinseltown legends such as Gary Cooper, Bing Crosby, and Ginger Rogers. "Knife of the Party" (1934) - Before Shemp joined the Three Stooges, he made movies with a different set of stooges. In this short, Shemp and a troupe of actors are forced to work at a hotel in order to pay their bill. "Henry the Ache" (1934) - Shemp joins in on the fun as Bert Lehr (several years away from playing the Cowardly Lion in "The Wizard of Oz") plays King Henry in the parody of Charles Laughton's then-current "Private Life of Henry VIII."

      DVD 3 -- 80 min The Forties Here are Larry, Moe, and Shemp in four of their wackiest comedy shorts. "Malice in the Palace" (1949) stars the boys as restaurateurs who run off to a faraway land in search of the Rootin Tootin diamond. In "Sing a Song of Six Pants" (1947), Larry, Moe, and Shemp have "pressing business" in a dry-cleaning store, then get mixed up in a bank robbery. "The Brideless Groom" (1947) is a Stooges classic in which Shemp has to get married immediately or lose his inheritance. Hold hands, you love birds! "Camel Comedy Caravan" (1950) is a rare, live kinescope in which Larry, Moe, and Shemp are network executives who harass comedian Ed Wynn on his television show.

      DVD 4 -- 60 min The New Three Stooges Part 1 In 1965, Larry, Moe, and Curly Joe (De Rita) came out with "The New Three Stooges," an animated television series using their actually voices. To introduce each cartoon, they filmed live-action wraparounds, so we get to see animated as well as real-live Stooges!

      DVD 5 -- 60 min The New Three Stooges Part 2 Here are more classic cartoons from the 1965 TV series that was produced by Cambria Studios - the same company that gave us the memorable "Space Angel" and "Clutch Cargo"! "Hollywood Steps Out" (1941) - This justly famous Warner Brothers cartoon classic features caricatures of well-known stars of Hollywood's golden era - including Larry, Moe, and Curly!

      Unfortunately, I purchased this set at Borders before checking the reviews here. I totaly agree with all the negative points other reviewers have noted and couldn't say much more about how dissapointed you will be if you waste your time with this set. It STINKS!

      This is one of the worst rip-offs I have ever seen!! It's an insult to all Stooges fans. Bad clips, a flakey voice over history and one movie. Two DVD's are the 3 Stooges cartoons!! I have literally trashed my set and am now looking at other alternatives. I would not try to sell mine second hand as I would be ashamed of myself.

      Trust me, there is nothing here worth buying.

      Don't bother with this one. You only get one DVD with any episodes on it (three Shemps and one Curly), and the rest of the DVDs are nothing more than interviews, clips, and just plain filler material. These are a total waste of time and money.

      Very disappointed in this product. Expecting 5 discs worth of classic stooge episodes...got only 1 Curly episode and 3 Shemp episodes. The first disc was an hour long documentary that was interesting, but the rest was junk! 2 of the 5 discs contained nothing but 1965 stooges cartoons with Curly Joe. If you are a fan of the classic episodes(especially Curly), then don't waste your money on this.
