A remake of the Italian film L'Ultimo Bacio, The Last Kiss was largely ignored in theaters despite its Gen-X themes and appeal of star Zach Braff (Scrubs), who last made a splash in theaters with his similar twentysomething angst film Garden State. A drama about midlife crises (mostly for people approaching 30, that is), director Tony Goldwyn (A Walk on the Moon) has assembled a top-notch cast, but there's not enough likeability in the characters to care. Architect Michael (Zach Braff) is a commitmentphobe who wanders into a flirtation with coed Kim (Rachel Bilson) because he's gun-shy about settling down with his perfect girlfriend Jenna (Jacinda Barrett), who's expecting his child. His fellow pals face their own romantic crossroads; one (Michael Weston) desires to settle down with a woman who doesn't love him back; another (Eric Christian Olsen) can't find someone who just wants a meaningless fling like him; and the third (Casey Affleck), ponders leaving his weary wife who's constantly berating his shortcomings as a father. Most depressing is Jenna's mother (Blythe Danner), who's tired of feeling neglected by her stoic husband (Tom Wilkinson). Danner and Wilkinson are compelling as longtime marrieds who've lost their spark, but Braff's character is wholly unlikeable, even aside from his indiscretions. The bright spot is Bilson, in her first movie role, utterly adorable as the sexy college student who's got more parts vulnerability and sass than any stuck in the Other Woman role. There's some fine acting in The Last Kiss, but not enough character development to care about anything they're going through.
The DVD includes a commentary featuring cast members Braff, Barrett, Olsen, Bilson, and director Goldwyn, who all mainly hoot during Olsen's sex scenes and ogle Bilson's seductive dancing. Braff and Goldwyn also imitate Bilson's high-pitched speedchatter throughout, while Barrett educates the cast on the similarities between "the dingo ate my baby" and the O.J. Simpson case (don't ask). It's all the more entertaining compared to a separate commentary track with just Goldwyn and Braff, who mostly drones about the music he picked for the film (Remy Zero, Snow Patrol, Aimee Mann) and raves about the minimalist score, done by singer Michael Penn. And oh, they ogle Bilson's dancing in this one too. -- Ellen A. Kim

ZACH BRAFF , You're Amazing.......2007-07-03
Last Kiss is one of those achingly good films that don't get recognition but that is the underlying importance of the film,the fact that they were not meant to appeal to all audiences.
The story is about a boldly content man with a perfect life and wife. The most sultry and inviting of young beauties happens to chance upon him and then onwards the film has it's own beat. The start of the film is catchy, the boldness of the characters is hardly forgettable, the imperfect cinematography, the impracticality of the situations, the music of the film and the way it's most painful scenes make you laugh out loud all help ensure a pleasant viewing experience.
Interestingly, Last Kiss doesn't try to take a stand and get over emphatic about promiscuity and otherwise, but it does actually leave quite an impact on the viewer. I think this is one of those films I'd like to own. 3.5 stars is fine with me and maybe I'm just a big Zach Braff fan.
About Zach Braff,now. I like how he tries to distance himself from trouble but slips further into it. But, I must add, I thought Rachel Bilson's character was the standalone winner of the film. I think the direction is lovely and it helped portrait her with much finesse and persona. The unpleasant tweaks in the film make me want to watch it again. Yes, I might buy it, I repeat.
I'll sit on this porch until you talk to me...(4.5).......2007-06-27
With The Last Kiss we have yet another movie that was marketed wrong. Given what was presented in the previews upon its release most of us were led to believe it'd be a pretty funny movie. Not so. There are parts where you laugh a bit but this is much more in the vein of an actual drama than anything else. So going in expecting a drama would work wonders in your post-viewing conversations. Had they marketed it that way I think it would've been recieved a lot better than it originally was.
I won't lie, what led me to wanting to see The Last Kiss rested solely on Zach Braff's shoulders. He's excellent in Scrubs and, while it took getting use to, he really pulled off the serious/depressed role that Garden State called for with flying colors. "How bad can The Last Kiss possibly be?" I was left wondering. Not too shabby it turns out. I'm a guy and I'm comfortable in saying that I can thoroughly enjoy myself whilst watching a 'chick flick.' That's exactly what The Last Kiss is and it's not ashamed of that one bit.
Everyone knows the plot...a 29 year-old has everything he wanted. A great job, an amazing girlfriend, great friends. He can't help but think by following through with this life that there won't be anymore surprises. Enter Rachel Bilson. She turns his world upside down and he finds himself questioning just what it is he really wants. Sounds good right? I thought so too. Heck, even throwing in the fact that his friends are having serious domestic problems as well was okay with me. But I could not stand the storyline following Blythe Danner and how she pretty much ruins her marriage because her husband doesn't look at her like "he has to have her." Take that out and this movie would have been darn near perfect.
As for the rest of the cast, there's no real glaring fault. Surprisingly enough, even Rachel Bilson was really good in her role which I simply didn't expect. It comes as no surprise though that Zach Braff stole every scene he was in. The chemistry between him and Jacinda Barrett was great and seeing Zach walk into situations he should've known better than to walk into gives this movie that human touch.
Basically, if you hate chick flicks don't even think about watching this. If you don't mind a chick flick though and are looking for a movie where even though the lead actor messes up time after time and you're left yelling at your TV yet you still want him to end up with her, you just found that movie.
Not a Comedy.......2007-06-16
Sadly, I think perhaps this movie would have been better received had it not been billed as a romantic comedy. It's not funny at all! It is a rather sad story about fears and dysfunctional relationships - and actually does a fairly decent job at that - but humor or comedy? No way.
Not very interesting.......2007-06-07
The movie is a bit disappointing, especially for those who have seen "L'ultimo bacio", the original italian version. Unfortunately, Zach Braff is not Stefano Accorsi. Labored screenplay + actors without any charisma = boring movie. No interest.
WOW.......2007-05-28
Ok, Zach Braff is one of the most talented actors there is. He is one of the most versatile people there are.
The Last Kiss is a story of a couple getting married because of a pregnancy. But, they are deeply in love, and cute together, the all-american couple. All of the decisions made, and their lives before them Braff's character gets nervous and starts a flirtation with a girl. After spending a night with her and kissing her he confesses and breaks the heart of his fiancee. After the fight he goes back and sleeps with her, the girlfriend played by Rachel Bilson.
There are other moving parts, as all the characters are multi-dimensional. The movie includes stories within the stories of the things going on with his friends, their story, and love lost and found.
Eventually Braff and Barrett fight it out, and by waiting and not giving up Braff is able to get Barrett to break down her barriers. Normally this would just piss me off- infedelity, yet her is forgiven- but it's what I like about the movie. It's different- and the forgiveness is the paramount of the love story. Is love stronger than what our morals and values tell us are right? Many people make the decision everyday to stay together. Interestingly enough- Braff get's amazing advice from Barrets father that helps him keep her. He's been the victim of his own wife's infedelity. It's amazing that the movie is very real. Some couples can get over infedelity- while others having never strayed just come to find they don't love each other, and a child is not enough to keep them together. You can't overcome the people you've grown to be sometimes. A lot of my friends were very disappointed- but I guess I like the movie because it's different. Never having been in the situation I hold firm that infidelity is where I cross the line, to me it is unforgivable. But, here you feel for Braff and want him and Barrett to be together forever, and see that his straying was only a lapse....Still, I am glad for the ending. It shows a new love story in a new light, and breaks all the typical cliche's.

Good movie...cute guys too!!.......2007-06-27
I thought this was a great movie. It had a very deep message, that talked about relationships. How when we fall in love with somebody, it seems like you can't live without that person anymore. And that love is more than about looks, but it has a deeper meaning, that you want to spend the rest of your love with that person, even though he/she isn't perfect. And then of course there is temptation. I believe everyone gets tempted at times. And this movie shows it in a nice way how when we cheat on somebody, what kind of damage that can bring into a relationship, but yet we should forgive. But it seems like this temptation, liasions..affairs, it's like a circle, that never ends, unless we get a control of our emotions/hormones..whatever. It seems like that when a person has an affair or cheats on his/her lover, only afterwards do they realise the mistake they made. That they can't live without the other person, that they want him/her back in their life. Having affairs and cheating destroy relationships and it's very hard to forget something like that. The movie also portrays how we get bored with someone after a while, that when we've been married for 10/20 years, we want something new and exciting in our lives.
This is a very good movie that I recommend, where we can learn what to expect in relationships...good and bad.
MOLTO BELLO.......2007-06-27
I loved this movie. It was just the right mix of comedy, romance and drama.
The huge step into adulthood.......2007-03-16
The huge step into adulthood....I totally love this movie. Is nice to see a film about love and relationships from a manly point of view...and true message: we are all humans and capable of making the same mistakes...
I specially like the performance of Stefania Sandrelli as Anna, the mother of Giulia (Giovanna Mezzogiorno)
Pretentious and glaringly empty and shallow.......2007-01-19
The Last Kiss is spectacularly overrated, it fails on multiple levels, and one of the most shocking things about it is that someone thought it was good enough to remake. There are two major problems with this film: pacing and content inconsistency. The flow of this film is greatly hampered by the editing choices made. The viewer must jump back and forth between multiple characters who are each in dramatic circumstances set to poignant music for the majority of the entire film. These scenes feel like what SHOULD be the climax of a film, something that should have been built up to steadily, but instead such pacing and interchanging is maintained for the majority of the film and quickly becomes tiresome and annoying. The drama is drawn out for so long that it quickly loses its dramatic effect. Secondly are the content problems. The Last Kiss is a mess of a movie. It seems to try to want to make a point, but doesn't quite pull it off. At best the viewer is left with an awkward and entirely forced lecture at the end of the film that amounts to this: People should get married simply because people have always got married. BUT, no one is faithful. You will get cheated on, but you should stay with your spouse anyway. Gee, how deep. I sat through a two hour climax for such a dud of a point? I was greatly disappointed by scenes that hinted at the GREAT potential this film had, and the ending that wrapped things up without a trace of that potential being realized. For instance: the film is predominantly about a group of late 20-somethings who don't want to grow up. They go to a fountain late at night, drunk, and make fun of people driving by in their cars. The film does a good job capturing the immature notion that many people have that people who are stuck in relationships are "dead" in some way, that you are only "alive" if you are free to do whatever you want. They think that life is a collection of experiences and if you are in any way restricted from chasing your whim of the moment then you are not fully alive. These excitement seekers want the passion that a brand new relationship gives, but only before you have the person you're excited about, and then idiotically mourn themselves when in existing relationships because that "passion" is gone (never mind that this sensation has nothing to do with what the word "passion" actually means). That "passion," however, is just a passing thrill caused by the sensation of uncertainty. Once a feeling of routine sets in, once a person can expect and anticipate what their lives with someone will be like, such people lament that this exhilarating feeling caused by "freedom" (uncertainty about the future really), is gone. What the young men in the movie don't realize is that the "dead" people in cars they are making fun of are probably actually living a life, whereas they are only standing around and talking about the possible lives they COULD live. They aren't really doing anything, and are likely far more miserable than any of the people they look down on in the fountain scene because of it. This is brilliantly summed up by a single line in the movie, and the moment that line was delivered, the movie should have ended. It is delivered by a female character that is in what is probably the only healthy relationship in the whole film. She says: "Normalcy IS the true revolution." The characters in this film don't realize that they're just too hip to be happy, or, too immature to be content. The father in the film realizes such things, and at the end, in a forced and contrived lecture delivered for the viewers' benefit and to try and quickly tidy up the loose ends of this mess of a film, he explains that life might seem the same from day to day, but that doesn't mean we should ever take it for granted. What the male lead realizes is that once he finally obtains the freedom to do whatever he wants that he's been so desperately yearning for, he doesn't actually want it. As Janis Joplin said, "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose." You can't really be "free" unless you don't have a life, period. The film seems to be building toward the message that monogamy works NOT because of some religious doctrine, but because countless generations over thousands of years have found that it's actually the best recipe for long-term happiness and contentment. (One of the characters in the film, who literally gets to sleep with a new woman every night, is actually one of the most miserable people in the movie.) Instead the movie goes on, and after we are lead to think that the male lead has learned his simple and obvious lesson, he goes on deceiving his girlfriend. At the end of the film, he is still lying to her. We are left with the message that this is just fine. And then, years later, we are shown his now-wife, about to cheat on him. It apparently hasn't dawned on many other critics that the ending of the film is self-defeating, and that, as a result, the film actually has nothing to say. From the film's beginning clear through till its end its characters don't develop at all. So what was the point of the film, for frankly, watching them act stupid for two hours really wasn't all that entertaining? They don't learn anything, so why should we? After many high-handed scenes about life and love, the film reveals that it's been bluffing; it really isn't about anything at all. No one in the film, including the girl's parents, thinks that what her boyfriend did was wrong. That he cheated on her and continues to this day to lie about is just fine with everyone. She is now going to cheat on him, and why not? After all, he cheated on her and she didn't have the guts to kick him to the curb. So what's the moral of the story, when all is said and done? The moral is that you should suffer through a dishonest marriage and have kids with someone who is going to lie to you, deceive you, manipulate you, and cheat on you, because gee wiz that's what life's about. It's only human. I for one felt cheated. The film seems especially forced and pointless when held up to the little-known fact that most people who get married stay married, and that, despite what some alarmists in the media claim, most people who stay married actually don't cheat on each other. Thumbs DOWN.
Clueless . . ........2006-11-03
Part melodrama and part screwball comedy, this high-spirited Italian film explores the angst and ambiguities of commitment in romantic relationships at the point where "happily ever after" becomes disillusionment and disappointment. A young and unwed father-to-be, balking at the prospect of marriage, finds himself drawn suddenly to a pretty university student more than ten years younger. A friend at the ad agency where he works complains bitterly about the demands of his own marriage and fatherhood. Another friend is torn between his anguish over a girlfriend who has left him, his impatience with his dying father, who is leaving him with a business he abhors, and the desire to flee as far from home as he can get.
A fourth friend, still immersed in the adolescent pursuit of endless variety among bed-mates, observes from the sidelines, completely clueless, while a fifth friend has just married and from the vantage point of the honeymoon can't understand what all the fuss is about. Meanwhile, a middle-aged woman, miserable in a marriage where romance has gone cold, looks for an old boyfriend, with whom she once had an affair.
We are flung from crisis to crisis in this fast-paced intertwining of story lines, where the dialogue is rapid-fire and it takes a speed-reader to consume all the subtitles. When the center no longer holds and like a collapsing carnival ride, characters are landing every which way but on their feet in the final scenes, the filmmakers give us a happily-ever-after ending that we can either buy or not. By this time, it doesn't matter, because they've made their point. In matters of love and lust, we are all pretty clueless.

She's Back..........again!.......2005-10-17
If you are a horror buff that loves ALL horror movies, and not JUST the ones with the '05 special effects, you'll love this one,I did. The humor is a little dry, but I still loved it.
BOTH ARE FUN AND GOOD FLICKS!!!!!!.......2005-09-12
Prom Night 3 is awesome has a hot sexy cast and the story is the same as Prom Night 2!!!!!! Mary Lou is back in action killing students and teachers again,but this time she is in love with Zach Gillian!!!!!!!! Prom Night 3 is a five star movie and as far as the other one i would have to give it a four star it wasn't as good as the other one!!!!!!! Check them out!!!!
It's Not Who You Come WIth, It's Who Takes You Home.......2005-07-12
~~~~~Prom Night 3 (*** 3 Stars)~~~~~
Prom Night 3 takes the character from Part 2, Mary Lou and does an interesting thing with her character for this film. Mary Lou has gotten her revenge and shes still floting around the school. And with nothing to do and no one left to kill who needs killing she falls in love with one of the students and helps him go from a nobody to an honour student and his grades and ppopularity increase. However, anybody that keeps trying to get in the way, interfear with him, or find out whats really going on, there fate is dealt with by Mary Lou.
However he is not too happy with her killings, she cant stop and he's doubhting it will work out.... will he work it out with Mary Lou? or will he tell her it's over and turn his life upside down? ...duh
Overall I thought it was pretty interesting. I thought for a moment it's pretty original for a ghost to fall in love with a human, but then I thought a film called High Spirits and a few others, but this one is unique in it's own way. This is done more in a Horror way. However, keep in mind that this is a Horror/Comedy. So blood and gore fans who just wanna see brutality, or those who dont like comedy with there decapatations might not like this film.
I guess maybe if you like Night Of The Living Dead or Sean Of The Dead kind of movies, you might enjoy this movie.
Theres no bonus features at all. I think this movie is still better then the 1st, but it's not as good as part 2. But it's in 2nd place of all 4 movies for me!
~~~~~Prom Night 4 (* One Star)~~~~~~
This time Prom Night hasnt got anything to do with Mary Lou. Which I think is the wrong direction. I find it pretty stale, humorless, goreless and pretty boring at times. Suprsingly it does come with a trailer which is more then any of the others can say. But this film just shouldnt have been added to the Prom Night saga. It's the typical horney teenagers, unsupervised, haunted house thing. Seen it, zzzzz. I can see why it was added with part 3.
Tho I give it 1 star, I kind of lean more to just below 2 stars.. kind of a one and a half star rating. I've seen alot worse, but I would probably give those films -1 stars. But this film just needed blood and guts to be affective rather then a done-to-death already senario.

2 fun movies for a late night weekend watch.......2003-11-17
Prom night 3 (1989)Was in fact rather fun, comedic and shall I dare say, semi creepy? It wasn't like part 1, or even 2, but it was still decent, while the 1991 'finale' deliver us from evil takes us into a very similar direction as the cheap yet scary 'HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS' Director's cut...but that one at least has pace. I actually thought they were both decent, especially part 3, the transfer on part 3 was pretty good, fullscreen, but it looked sharper then the VHS, yet part 4, not so much...it looked the same as a VHS except less speckling and no backround film sound (like old vhs's have)I liked the fact that it was realy cheap and it's 2 movies for 1 low price, part 3 was about mary lou like part 2, except this one takes a dark humor route, part 4 had some semi suspense in it but was pretty cheap. Overall quality isn't that spectacular, but admit it, neither were these sequels...

Synopsis: One of Italy's highest-grossing films for 2000, Gabriele Muccino's "Last Kiss" was promoted there as "the story of all love stories." The picture does do its best to be inclusive: it interweaves three different tales of three different generations trapped in three different situations which means, of course, that it can be marketed to three different demographics. Thus are nations united. Mr. Muccino, who directed from his own screenplay, is a canny crowd pleaser, and "The Last Kiss" provides more than enough sentimental catharsis for a satisfying evening at the multiplex.

Description
Kiss, Kiss, Dahlings is Wendy Wasserstein's humorous love letter to the theater, starring Tony Award-winner Blythe Danner and 4-time Emmy-winner Nancy Marchand (Lou Grant, The Sopranos) together with Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City) as three generations of actresses in three different eras. Also featuring talk-show host Charlie Rose. Terrence McNally's The Last Mile captures both the comic and the poignant minutes in an opera diva's life just before the curtain rises on her Metropolitan Opera debut in "Tosca". Starring two-time Tony Award winners Bernadette Peters (Annie) and Nathan Lane (The Birdcage). Also starring Paul Sorvino and Bill Irwin.
Customer Reviews:
Kisses to Bernadette .......2006-07-21
This show was broadcast in 1992 for the 20th anniversary of "Great Performances."
Hard to believe, but the DVD contains two plays, each only about 15 minutes long. With this much brevity, it won't surprise you to hear that neither play outstays its welcome.
The first, "Kiss, Kiss, Dahlings," is divided into three short acts. The three actresses (Blythe Danner, Cynthia Nixon and Nancy Marchand) play three generations of stage actresses in three different time periods. This is a love letter to the theater from the late Wendy Wasserstein, and light fare.
The second is about a nervous opera soprano about to make her debut at the Met in "Tosca." Written by Terrence McNally, this is the better piece. It stars the incandescent Bernadette Peters, who is astonishingly vulnerable at times.
Opera fans will get a couple of big laughs from the inside jokes McNally weaves in, but even non-opera folks can enjoy it. A relatively restrained Nathan Lane, an relatively unrestrained Paul Sorvino and a very funny Bill Irwin also register in their roles.
All that said, I'm not sure it's worth buying the DVD for only 30 minutes of drama. Perhaps rent it first and then determine if it's something you'll want to view again and again.

GOOD MOVIE.......2007-06-06
GREAT MOVIE , BETTER IN DVD I AM SURE BUT I WATCHED IT 3 XS AND IM BORED WITH IT
That Football was Spiked!.......2005-03-02
Terrible sequel is by far the worst of the series till part 4 arrived. A Canadian teen named Alex is failing school and having trouble on the football team and then Mary Lou comes back to Hamilton High and then makes Alex popular and then he buries the dead bodies in the football field. This movie is a waste of time and only has one funny scene where Mary Lou throws a football at the bully and a spike stabs him.
In part 3, the goodlooking boys and girls come out to play!.......2002-03-30
Eighties horror movies, what would we do without them? Horror movies since the eighties have lost the gore and no budget effects that made them enjoyable to watch. Prom Night 3 achieves everything you could possibly want in a horror movie, goodlooking guys and girls, and did I mention the goodlooking guys?!:) Dylan Neal stars in this movie, and if he's hot now, he was certainly smoldering then!
The movie does have a certain budget look to it, but the story is straightforward and enjoyable, not to mention some of the best death scenes ever! I would really recommend this movie, and I would suggest inviting a few mates over, so you can have a laugh with the death scenes. Positively gory, but very well done. Enjoy!
Great movie, stupid ending!.......2000-08-14
If it weren't for the ending, I would have rated it 5 stars, but as many times before, the ending destroys a movie. But to the film. This is horror/comedy, so don't expect to be scared. But it has gore, and the one scene where Alex is running naked in the hall, reminds me strongly about Mr.Bean(! ) This time another Prom Queen return from the dead, and fall in love with one of the present students. But how far are they willing to go for love? Buy it, and find out.
this has got to be the stupidest movie ever made!.......1999-11-07
what?What? How could anyone give this movie five stars. It was the worst movie ever made. How could they take the prom night franchise and turn it into some lame horror movie. It's ridiculous. The plot was dumb and pointless and the one-liners absolutely not funny. The movie was a disgusting mix of sex and violence, that tried to hard to be funny and failed. this is definitely the most pointless movie and the worstsequel ever. DUMB! just plain dumb! The ending completely ruined even the few(1 or two) good parts in the movie.

-- Ellen A. Kim
