Description
In MILK MONEY, when 12-year-old Frank Wheeler (Carter) and his two buddies save up their milk money and head into the city in search of a woman who will let them see her naked body, they think they've died and gone to heaven when V (Griffith) agrees to disrobe for them. Now stuck in the city and out of their element, the boys seek refuge in V who agrees to drive them back to the suburbs and away from the city's chaos. But, when V's car breaks down outside of his house, Frank decides that V would make a good step mom, and proceeds to play matchmaker for his dad, Tom (Harris). Thanks to Frank, Tom thinks that V is a math tutor, while V thinks that Frank knows the truth about her occupation. What ensues is a long, hilarious conversation that revolves around this comical misunderstanding.

I thought this movie had everything,it was funny, romantic, and had some drama.I don't think Melanie Griffith looked any better, she was absolutly cute in this movie, she played a fantastic role in this movie. As did Ed Harris,I feel they complimented each other in this movie, and I would recommend this movie to my friends and my family. ABSOLUTLY TERRIFIC!

I love this movie, it is light and funny and clever. It came in perfect condition and arrived speedily.

3 out of 5 stars The Dairy Challenge.......2006-11-05

Michael Patrick Carter plays Frank Wheeler, twelve-year old son of Tom Wheeler, a widowed botanist played by Ed Harris. Frank and his two buddies want to see a real-live naked lady, so they scrounge up a hundred bucks and ride their bikes into the city to find a prostitute. Meanwhile, Tom is occupied trying to save a local patch of wetlands.

The kids hook up with "V," played by Melanie Griffith. "V" decides it's okay to show them the goods -- they don't have enough body hair to be dangerous, she says -- and they're thrilled. (It's hard to determine how thrilled Michael Patrick Carter is, since he has a perpetual grin on his face throughout the film.)

The kids' bikes get stolen, so "V" borrows her pimp's car to take them home. Frank tells his dad "V" is a math tutor, and there's a funny exchange between the two where Tom thinks she's talking about mathematics when she's really talking about sex. The two take a liking to each other, and Frank hopes "V" will marry his dad -- her car has broken down, stranding her in the suburbs. Frank stashes her in his treehouse until Tom makes up his mind.

Mucking things up is a ruthless gangster, Waltzer, played by Malcolm McDowell. Waltzer thinks "V" has her pimp's stash of money -- money that Waltzer believes is rightfully his. Waltzer is a cold-blooded killer -- it's pretty much the same character McDowell plays in "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead," and his presence really disrupted the lighthearted tone of this film for me.

Anyway, things wrap up tidily by the end, with Frank delivering my favorite last line in movie history, second only to "Caddyshack." If you're a guy who watched "Pretty Woman" two hundred times in high school or are completely insane, you'll probably enjoy watching "Milk Money."

4 out of 5 stars Milk Money.......2006-08-15

"Milk Money" is a movie with a perverse sounding plot, that is actually a charming (if not cliched and predictable) movie with Melanie Griffith in one of her best performances. In this film, Griffith steals the show. Milk Money has an interesting idea, but it is carried out in a way we've seen thousands of times before. Griffith's character is a character that's been played thousands of times before, but this film still works. Three preadolescent kids named Frank, Kevin, and Brad all long for one thing...To see a woman naked. All three of them are clueless about sex and women in general and the script portrays these kids exactly how they would be in real life. It doesn't exaggerate their curiosity, it hits it right on. Anyway, they figure in order to see a woman naked that they must have some money and go into "the city."
So, they begin collecting milk money. When they have it, they ride into the city to find a woman who will take off her clothes for money. For a while, they're unsuccesful; But after a near-run in with a thug, they meet V (Griffith)
who gives the boys what they want. I know this sounds perverse, but it's done pretty tastefully. Anyway, the boys get stranded so V gives them a ride home but gets stranded herself when her car breaks down. It occurs to one of the boys, Frank, around this time that maybe V can marry his single dad Tom (Oscar nominee Ed Harris). Why not? Of course, V and Tom fall for each other quickly (although Tom is under the impression that V is a math tutor); But V's pimp has been ripping off people and has recently been killed and his killer Walter (Malcolm McDowell, with a wonderfully campy take on the character he's had to play over-and-over again since "A Clockwork Orange") is looking for V. Does true love prevail? Of course it does but that doesn't mean that, in between the beginning and the end, you can't be entertained. I love the characters in this film and I love the actors who play them. Yes, they're trapped in this carbon copy script but they make it work...Especially Griffith, who takes the hooker-with a heart-of-gold thing and makes it her own. Not for everybody, but it's smooth and senseless entertainment.

4 out of 5 stars A 'Pretty Woman' knockoff that stands well enough on it's own..........2006-06-06

Okay, so the simularities are there...man falls in love with hooker...okay so that may be it but you have to admitt that when you watch this movie the first thought that pops in your head is 'pretty woman' without Roberts star power. If that's the point when you turn this off it's a shame for there is a little more to this film than 'man meets hooker man loves hooker'. First off, the man doesn't know she's a hooker till half way through. The man is Ed Harris and the hooker V is played by Melanie Griffith. The story follows Frank, Harris's son, as he and his friends save up their money to pay a hooker to show them her breasts. That hooker is V. In a chain of events V ends up staying in Franks tree-house while his father fixes her car. Frank, who has never known what it's like to have a mother beings that his mother died giving birth to him, is excited to have V around and is convinced she would be the perfect step-mother (although I find it strange that he wants his step-mother to be the woman he just saw naked). The funny parts of this film consist of when they talk about V's line of work since V believes Ed Harris knows she's a hooker and he believes she's a Math Tutor. The film is sweet and nice Hollywood fluff, nothing too meaty and nothing you'll be jow dropped and amazed over but it's cute and light and a decent film to boot so it won't bore you and may just be what you feel like watching one rainy afternoon.

Description

An udderly hilarious comedy featuring Calista Flockhart, the star of TV's "Ally McBeal." David's (Robert Petkoff) total lack of focus leads him to drop out of medical school and fall into a series of funny intertwined misadventures culminating in the inadvertent delivery of 21 dairy cows to an elegant penthouse apartment on Central Park West. You'll love the heartwarming humor in this whimsical farce of everyday life in the big city.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Original, Hilarious!.......2005-03-03

It seems anybody who doesn't like Calista Flockhart is quick to discredit this movie, but all I can say is that it's lucky she is so well known, otherwise I probably wouldn't have got the chance to see this brilliant movie! This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, and I've never seen another movie like it.

Unlike every other romantic comedy, this one is bizarrely unrealistic to a level deserving of cult status. Despite the look of the picture on the front, this is no Hugh Grant clone, and the man is not a bumbling idiot, rather he is swept into a course of quirky events. This is not a 'chick flick', there's no sad crying scenes to keep you in touch with your emotions. It's a very upbeat movie that a guy like me can enjoy!

1 out of 5 stars Poor Calista!.......2000-07-30

This is a truly terrible movie and the only reason that it got released on video at all is that Calista Flockhart got famous! Save your money!

5 out of 5 stars "Sexy, surreal and entirely original...".......1999-03-10

Sexy surreal and entirely original, "Milk & Money" is the kind of film that is nearly impossible to pull off and yet somehow writer/director Michael Bergmann manages to do so with great success.

David (Robert Petkoff), a recent medical school dropout, is walking casually down a New York City street. Within moments, two different women --utter strangers-- have asked David for enormous favors. In each case the amiable david immediately agrees to help. This premise may be preposterous but the acting is so winning and the directing so assured that the viewer is happily drawn into the film. Soon David becomes involved with the relocation of twenty-one cows,a homeless cattle expert (Peter Boyle) and a rich man's mistress (Calista Flockhart) who has a PhD in medieval literature.

Trying to guess how all of these fantastical elements tie together is only one of "Milk & Money"'s gleeful pleasures.
