There are two reasons to see Toys: some phenomenal visual spectacle and the utterly adorable performance of Joan Cusack. The story: When the founder of the Zevo toy factory dies, he leaves it to his militaristic brother Leland (Michael Gambon) instead of to his whimsical son Leslie (Robin Williams). When Leland starts making war toys (and worse, actual weapons masquerading as toys), Leslie is forced to stop being capricious and take on some authority. Toys is supposedly about innocence and peace, but really it's director Barry Levinson's cry of anxiety about modern-day playthings, particularly video games--which is almost psychic of him, given how video games have started to devour the entertainment market. Fans of Williams will enjoy his performance; the visual design really is gorgeous; and Cusack, as Leslie's sister Alsatia, is so lovely she almost carries the film through its muddled themes. Almost. --Bret Fetzer

2 out of 5 stars Dead on arrival.......2007-07-05

Dead Silence is from director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannel; the same duo who crafted the first Saw film and oversaw their sequels. Dead Silence also marks a departure in terms of changing the pace from the torture horror sub-genre to a more typical slasher fare which we get here. The change isn't necessarily for the better either, even though Dead Silence has more going for it than you may think it does. For starters, it's pretty safe to say that many people think of ventriloquist dolls as being creepy by themselves, and here the film doesn't disappoint. Besides the overly creepy atmosphere though, Dead Silence doesn't do much else right in the horror department, and isn't scary or remotely suspenseful one bit. The gore effects aren't much to write home about either, and the film as a whole just feels lazily put together. In the end, you've just got to feel sorry for Donnie Wahlberg (Saw II and III, Band of Brothers) who gets no help as a detective here. All in all, Dead Silence isn't a total turkey, but there's nothing overly redeeming about it either.

5 out of 5 stars A scary horror film for the first time in forever.......2007-07-03

I'm a big fan of horror movies.cheap ones that make you laugh, gory ones that gross you out,and suspencefull ones that make you jump.I like them all!But I love this one.For the first time since In years I was actually scared. There were some funny parts but unlike most of the time I did not need to pick apart this movie and laugh. The plot was beautiful not to simple or to complicated. Some of the dolls were scary and the lady villan was very scary. Not to mention the scenes were absolutely beautiful. This movie was top notch

5 out of 5 stars Dead Silence.......2007-07-02

I just bought the movie and I also went to see it at the movies. I have to be honest with you. This is the SCARIEST FRIGGIN MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN in theatres! and yes I do watch alot of scary movies, but none of them have ever scared me like Dead Silence. all the scary movies I've ever seen only scared me when something pops out out of nowhere or something happens really fast but in this movie they had like every scary element to keep you scared the whole way. Especially when the dead silence starts and every noise goes quiet, it that feels like when you are about to drop down a rollercoaster really fast, it's like they warn you that something really scary is gonna happen and it does. I still haven't seen it at home but I don't think it's going to be as scary anymore cause I'll just watch it on normal TV with no surround sound

1 out of 5 stars This Movie Sucks BIG WOOD .......2007-07-02

Wow I couldn't believe how crappy this movie turned out to be. They should have shown more of that old creepy looking lady when she was doing her little vaudeville act with her dummy. She was the scariest looking thing in this movie. Forget the dummy. Very boring story. We were laughing and clowning this movie while we sat in the near empty theater. I was more dissapointed from the aspect of I love horror movies and this was a waste of what cold have been pretty cool. When I can't appreciate the movie and when the movie turns its back on me I start the jokes and the comedy. Making fun of this crappy movie was the only thing that got us through this flick.

All I know is Puppet Master would wear his little wooden a#% out.

Comparisons with E.T. are inevitable, but the more modest The Last Mimzy is based on the classic short story "Mimzy Were the Borogoves," by Lewis Padgett (a pseudonym for husband-and-wife writing team Henry Kuttner and C.L. Moore), that anticipated Steven Spielberg's extraterrestrial fantasy by nearly four decades. Chris O'Neil and Rhiannon Leigh Wryn give winning, naturalistic performances as siblings Noah and Emma, whose lives are transformed by a box of mysterious objects they find on the beach outside the family's Seattle vacation home. Among its contents is a stuffed rabbit that Emma names Mimzy and becomes quite attached. Noah and Emma are your typical outsiders. He is not good at sports, and she is interested in astronomy and plays the violin. But the objects work wonders on them. Their brainpower increases exponentially, Noah is able to drive a golf ball hundreds of yards, and Emma begins to communicate telepathically with Mimzy, who reveals his true identity and purpose. Rainn Wilson of The Office displays an off-center charm as Mr. White, Noah's New Age-y science teacher, who discovers similarities between Noah's intricate notebook doodlings and ancient renderings of the universe ("This is so out of my league," he marvels at one point), and becomes involved in Mimzy's back-to-the-future quest. Timothy Hutton and Joely Richardson are solid as the understandably confounded and increasingly concerned parents. Michael Clarke Duncan is a menacing FBI agent who, invoking the Patriot Act, arrests the family after Noah inadvertently causes a citywide blackout with one of the futuristic objects. The Last Mimzy may not reach E.T.'s spectacular heights, but as thoughtfully adapted for the screen by Bruce Joel Rubin (Ghost) and Toby Emmerich (Frequency), it is a transporting, idea-rich family film that is free of gratuitous coarse language (save for Mr. White's offhand classroom use of the word "screw") or bathroom humor. --Donald Liebenson

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful film adaptation of an even better classic science fiction story.......2007-07-03

The Last Mimzy: And Other Stories Originally published as The Best of Henry Kuttner
This is as close to a perfect science fiction film as anything that Hollywood is capable of: there is no gratuitous violence or promiscuous sex, no swearing and no blood and no death, no explosions or natural disasters or gunplay or swordfights or monsters or aliens or robots or mutants or cyborgs or comic-book-type-superheroes or mad scientists bent on world domination, none of the things Hollywood likes to ruin science fiction with. Instead good acting and flawless direction, coupled with special effects that don't overpower and dominate everything else in the film and a great--not good, but GREAT IN CAPITALS--story and a wonderful little moral message about not losing our fellow feeling for other people, the sort of social consciousness that no one could possibly object to. If you have kids, buy this thing for your kids, then buy another one for yourself. If you don't have kids, buy one anyways. The film is adapted from a 1943 short story written by Henry Kuttner (one of the leading science fiction writers of the day) with his wife, Catherine (C. L. Moore the original Goddess of Dark Fantasy greatest unmitigated literary genius of the early twentieth century) who were then quite popular and influential but have in the decades since fallen into almost complete obscurity. There is a book called "The Last Mimzy" which should be considered the essential companion to the film. The story in the book is similar to, but not identical with, the story of the movie; and there are sixteen other stories in the book, all of them every bit as good (with most of their collaborative work, Ms. Kuttner declined a byline). They wrote hundreds of stories, novels, and film, radio, and TV scripts under dozens of pen names. Perhaps the best is "Fury", from 1947.

5 out of 5 stars Fun for everyone.......2007-06-21

This is the type of movie that's good for kids, but still entertaining for adults.

If you're in you're late 20's like me and remember movies like Flight of the Navigator, then you'll really like this.

Although Flight of the Navigator will seem dated now, The Last Mimzy gave me the same feeling after seeing it, but with excellent special effects.

Overall, a little bittersweet but very engaging. A- from me.

5 out of 5 stars A Magical Movie.......2007-05-09

What we have here is a splendid sci-fi oriented family film good for all ages. Ok, maybe 5 year olds won't "get it" like older kids and adults, but it won't hurt them to watch. It is rated PG. I was really awestruck by the performances from the children, particularly Rhiannon Leigh Wryn, who played Emma Wilder. She had me tearing up more than once during the movie. I don't know how she did it so effectively; she delivered a flawless and highly evocative performance, oozing cute throughout the film. Made me feel like a kid again. So what was the movie about you ask? The two kids find an alien artifact on the beach and it opens for them. It contains some really amazing stuff that nobody is sure about, and the kids try and keep it secret, but slowly they learn more about it and, in the end, find out what needs to be done. The special effects are neat, and the story is interesting. It contains a healthy portion of mystery. If you see it without the intent on slamming the movie and keep an open mind and a light heart, you will probably love The Last Mimzy.

I gave this one star only because O is not a given choice. Thank you for pointing out that this DVD is only playable on an HD DVD. I would run right out a buy one if only you had included a synopsis of the movie. An HD DVD would cost a lot more than my ordinary DVD, but not as much as spending money on a DVD of which one knows nothing.

Young Hal Scardino stars as a sensitive boy who discovers a way to bring plastic toys to life in a locked cupboard. One of those toys, a 19th-century Iroquois warrior (played by actor Litefoot), was actually a real warrior now only several inches tall. A bond eventually develops between boy and warrior, and a six-shooting toy cowboy (David Keith). As with E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Indian in the Cupboard (which was written by E.T. scribe Melissa Mathison) is about a magical visitor connecting with a lonely child. But director Frank Oz (In & Out) has made the film far too stiff and dramatically flat to get across the enchantment necessary to make the fantasy work. Watching this is like listening to someone who can't tell a good story to save his life, yet who is trying to captivate your attention and heart. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars Sweet timeless movie.......2007-03-09

My daughter's third grade class was reading this book and so she asked to have the movie too. I'm so glad we agreed. It is a really sweet story that holds up to today's discussions about diversity. It's about friendship and fairness and loyalty and a dozen other ideas as well. Just a really nice all-around feel good family movie.

My grandson loves this movie. The time of purchase to delivery was very fast. Will do business with you, again. Thank you.

I received this in a very timely manner and in excellent condition. Thanks.

4 out of 5 stars For children but has some depth.......2007-01-06

First I think this movie would stand up to any modern day film in terms of special effects. You don't see any obvious blue screen effects so you can be transported into the miniature creatures' worlds. The boy in the story is struggling with some real life issues, but not too deep that it makes this an adolescent film. It still is appropriate for kids but the boy sees a life and death struggle.

2 out of 5 stars Indian on the shelf........2006-11-05

This is a charming movie with nice special effects, a heartwarming story, and plenty of drama and conflict to keep it interesting for adults and children alike... once.

We bought this movie for our kids and they have watched it maybe one or two times. It is a bit long and drags towards the end, making it less than ideal as a "frequent favorite", at least in our home.

If your kids enjoy cowboys, Indians, or magical fantasy (not the Harry Potter kind, but more along the lines of Neverending Story or Labyrinth), they may get a kick out of it. But I'd be lying if I said this movie was worth the purchase price... it's probably best off as a rental.

    5 out of 5 stars Definitely Magical.......2007-02-12

We got this tape for our first when she was 3 years old, some years ago. I think she (and her parents) watched it a couple of hundred times! This year, our younger one, also 3, has taken to it, just as her big sister once did (and she too is enjoying watching it all over again).

From an adult point of view, it is a bit hokey at first(I had a hard time keeping a straight face listening to the "Dutch" Girl). But it captivates you over time, and we came to realize that this is a real class-act of a children's video; very much an overlooked classic. Absolutely the best, a must for every DVD shelf.

5 out of 5 stars Trippy as Hell, absolutely weird, mind blowing!!!!.......2007-01-12

I loved these wee sing videos as a kid, but now they're even better. They're the best stimulation ever to watch with friends and trip to!!! Everyone needs these videos, so does every teenager or college kid. Very entertaining, colorful, musical, hilarious....Check it out.

My daughter is 4 years old and she enjoys watching this dvd. I have to admit I also enjoyed watching it with her. My daughter began to sing the songs to an adult friend of ours and our friend was amazed that my daughter knew the same songs we grew up with. It's a great DVD and it teaches our children songs that are so innocent in nature. I love it. OOOPS! I mean my daughter loves it.

Dan Curtis, the creator and producer of such out-of-the-ordinary TV classics as the willfully offbeat gothic soap opera Dark Shadows and the proto-X-Files series The Night Stalker, remains best known for the Zuni fetish doll that terrorizes Karen Black in Trilogy of Terror. The wild-eyed doll, with its snapping jaws and screeching yells, borders on camp, yet its relentless attacks and single-minded, homicidal drive make it an absolutely terrifying figure in the climactic chapter of this trilogy of short films based on stories by Richard Matheson. In the first story, "Julie," Karen Black plays a mousy college professor blackmailed by an obsessed student, and in "Millicent and Therese" she plays sisters consumed with an intense hatred of one another that comes to a head when their father dies. Both of these films conclude with Twilight Zone-ish twists and are more clever than gripping, kept alive mostly by Black's gleefully theatrical performances. With "Amelia," however, Black delivers an almost solo show, playing against the famous Zuni fetish doll, a wooden statue that comes to life when the a protective chain slips off the figure and releases the evil spirit. Curtis turns her apartment into a claustrophobic cage trapping the increasingly hysterical woman as the unstoppable figure hacks at her legs with a kitchen knife and chomps down on her arms and neck with the relentless intensity of a bulldog. It's still a classic of small-screen horror. --Sean Axmaker

    Description

Legendary producer / director Dan Curtis (DARK SHADOWS, THE NIGHT STALKER) teams up with writers Richard Matheson (I AM LEGEND, THE TWILIGHT ZONE) and William F. Nolan (LOGAN'S RUN, BURNT OFFERINGS) to present three tales of horrific suspense in this made-for-television anthology that also showcases the tremendous acting talent of Karen Black (FIVE EASY PIECES, THE DAY OF THE LOCUST), who plays no less than four distinct roles. In "Julie," an aggressive college student seduces and ultimately blackmails his seemingly shy English professor. In "Millicent and Therese," two polar-opposite sisters become increasingly hell-bent on the undoing of one another. And in "Amelia," a woman falls prey to a murderous Zuni fetish doll.

A fondly remembered cult classic televison movie produced in 1975. A must have for fans of good story telling and of course admirers of the excellent Karen Black. The audio commentary is both informative and entertaining and the featurettes with Karen and Richard Matheson are top-knotch. Fantastic print.

I had been waiting for this one to become available on DVD for quite some time. It was well worth the wait! My grown daughter remembers seeing this movie when she was a child, and is delighted to finally own it. Some of my friends had never seen or heard of this movie; but when I shared it with them, they loved it! The kids particularly loved the segment with the doll. Ms. Black delivered 3 excellent performances! The Karen Black commentary and featurette are nice bonuses.

The African zulu doll segment is worth buying this DVD for. I remember seeing this TV movie as a kid back in the 70s. There are others TV movies I am looking for: 79 Park Avenue (miniseries), Sweet Hostage with Linda Blair, Wonder Woman with Cathy Lee Crosby.

Horror maestro Tom Holland (Fright Night) brought wit and devilish energy to this 1988 scarefest about a murderer (Brad Dourif) who wills his soul into an innocuous doll named Chucky, and reveals himself only to the toy's owner, a frightened little boy. Catherine Hicks plays the child's mother, and Chris Sarandon a detective; neither of them knows what to make of the kid's story. Monster-doll stories are always wonderfully surreal, and Child's Play is no exception. Holland oversees some finely tuned special effects that allow Chucky to express himself and do some damage--it is truly unnerving but somehow good, subversive fun. --Tom Keogh

Man this was more funnier than so called scary horror creepy or what ever you would call it but I call it funny and extremely corny but good. The notorious lakeshore strangler charles lee ray has been gunned down almost ready to die and has to find a temporary replacement body so he will not die which is chucky (brad dourif) the friendly good guy doll who is every childs friend to the end but when chucky reveals to the child andy barkley that he's alive andy must make a run from the hospital to his home and lock the doors and arm himself to defeat chucky and protect his soul from chucky who want's out of the body and andy's mom saves him from getting his soul almost taken away. Actually I own an 8 plush chucky doll chucky rules.

This is the movie that spawned 4 sequels (all inferior) and gave rise to one of the most well known and feared characters in horror cinema: "Chucky the killer doll."

To save himself from death, a man puts his soul into a doll because "nobody would be able to hurt" him but, more than that, he had no other choice. The doll is then bought by a mother as a birthday gift to her 6 year old son. Over the next couple of days the reincarnated Chucky is determined to settle old scores with the people who killed him. Spooky enough for you?

Alright, the doll isn't THAT scary-looking. But I just love its attitude of killing without mercy and the fact that the doll obviously enjoys killing people. I wasn't scared so much as thrilled that the doll loves doing what it does and makes an art of it and, I think deliberately, tries to be creative in how it kills people. This doll also has what has got to be THE most distinctive and recognizable laugh of any major horror figure.

It's all good fun except for one thing: The reason why I didn't give five stars is the kid (Andy) sucks at acting. I know he's just a kid but there are millions of kids out there and thousands of them could do a better job. How this kid said his lines didn't 'feel' right half the time.

One last thing: Chucky is not, in my opinion, the scariest doll in horror films. If you want to get something that involves a truly scary doll and makes Chucky look nice you should see the Trilogy of Terror. Having said that, I think that Chucky is, if not the scariest, arguably the most entertaining. It's a great movie to watch on a Friday night with a couple of friends. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend that you at least rent it.

    5 out of 5 stars Good beginning.......2007-01-10

This is the one that started the series off. The perfect accompaniment would be the "Chucky collection" which contains 2-5. Saves you from purchasing them seperately. A must have if you are a fan of the films

    4 out of 5 stars CHILD'S PLAY.......2006-11-28

Usually the first movie it's allways the best one,I like this one because it was more serious than the others that came after,I liked the first three movies but the the original is my favorite!

4 out of 5 stars As any other First Part.......2006-11-05

Its a good horror movie alhtough you wont find so many fun parts as the part 3, 4th or 5th.

    5 out of 5 stars A pretty nice set.......2007-06-04

This set is pretty nice. outside of having two little chinese subtitles that could not be removed and my season 3/4 disc 7 disc acting weird but was easily fixed with the chapter skip buttons on the remote the set is good. I have the box out on display and the discs in my library so i don't have to keep opening the box. My only real critisism is that they put them in production order wich seemed to be out of order. Example the aerialbots battle the combaticons in one episode then the combaticons are build on the next disc or sandstorm is on cybertron talking to octane and then they meet sandstorm 3 discs later. I do recomend getting this set

It's the night before Christmas Eve, and oddball inventor Robert Toulon (Corey Feldman of THE GOONIES and STAND BY ME) has discovered his great granduncle's formula for reanimating the master's lethal puppets: Six-Shooter, Jester, Blade and Pinhead. Meanwhile, diabolical industrialist Erica Sharpe (Vanessa Angel of KINGPIN and WEIRD SCIENCE) is finalizing her satanic plan for unleashing her father's foul-mouthed, blood-guzzling toys upon the world's underprivileged children. But even if Toulon can give the puppets a deadly cyber makeover and stop the blood sacrifice of his daughter, can he still prevent the coming Christmas carnage? Playtime is over: Get ready for the final battle between the ultimate titans of toy terror!

1 out of 5 stars Horribly disrespectful to two franchises........2006-10-04

Look I know Full Moon went under but who knew that the next time we'd see the Puppet Master dolls it would be this awful? The plot is worse than even the worst of the Puppet Master original series titles, the acting makes the Full Moon actors look like Oscar Winners and the puppets aren't even close to the real deal!

I guess the easiest question I have is, Why even buy the rights to a franchise if you're not going to use the signatures of the franchise in the first film you make with it? Blade, Six Shooter, Jester, Pinhead are replicated in this movie so poorly it looks as if an 8 year old art student made them. Pinhead's hands even appear to be clay.

Worse is the movements. They don't have any of the fluent movements that were trademark to how the puppets looked real and there are scenes where there are massive amounts of strings showing everywhere. It's embarrassing to say the least.

The puppets weren't talkers before but they made sounds. This time they were completely mute. I wish I could have said the same for Corey Feldman who used to know how to act but in this movie comes off so over the top it's impossible to care about him or feel any sense of empathy for his character oncesoever. Most of the time you're wishing you had a gun to shoot yourself with so you could end his speaking parts.

The Demonic Toys look different and if possible even more cheap than before also. Full Moon might not have had the greatest actors, scripts or special effects but they usually spent a sufficient amount of time, money and energy on making the dolls (the stars of their movies) look good.

There is another small glitch in this movie that will annoy the fans of the Puppet Master franchise. Somehow Toulon's blood is needed for the formula to keep the dolls alive. The formula is now injected into holes in the back of the puppet's necks. For casual fans this is not a big deal, for longtime fans they know Toulon's blood had nothing to do with the formula and in part Three Toulon clearly injects them in the front of the neck area in a way that made it clear that as long as they got an injection, the puppets were fine.

Vanessa Angel is not a bad actress and has a million dollar body but she's stuck in a role and a movie that screams "I just want to collect a paycheck".

The Puppet Master theme music is blatantly absent as is the entire feel of the Full Moon series. The actors are horrible and seem to have to pause through lines in order to spit out the script they were supposed to remember and although the Demonic Toys franchise is much smaller I'm sure their fans felt disrespected by how marginalized their toys were to Angel's character, Sharpe.

Full Moon had this project announced before they folded. If only they had completed this then and not let Sci Fi skimp and cheat their way into trashing two beloved cult franchises with one movie that is so blatantly bad that it even loses the appeal of goofy and cheesy that so many second and third rate horror films fall into.

Avoid at all costs if you like either series.

3 out of 5 stars Unimpressive, yet funny.......2006-05-31

Back when Fullmoon owned the rights to both movie franchises, it was originally planned that they would make a Puppet Wars mini-series back in the 1990's. Sadly the series idea was scrapped due to insufficient funds. Now that the Sci-fi Channel holds the right, they aired the "long awaited cinematic showdown" known as 'Puppet Master Vs. Demonic Toys'. Full Moon had nothing to do with the project. This is the third film in the Demonic Toys series and the 9th film in the Puppet Master series. The story takes place near Christmas eve, in which the Robert Toulon (great nephew of Andre Toulon) uses the reanimating fluid to revive the puppets we all know and love. What Toulon didn't know whas that he was being closely watched by a huge toy company. The head mistress of this highly popular toy company Erica Sharpe makes a deal with a demon from hell. The demon is hell bent on revenge and demands Toulon's blood. So Erica gets help from some well known Demonic Toys and plots to bring the entire toy line to life to spread innocent blood on christmas morning. So it's up to Robert and his gang of puppets to try and stop the evil madness.

Well first I would just like to say that im a big fan of both the Puppet Master and Demonic Toys movies, even though there were very few Demonic Toys movies. The last Demonic Toys movie just so happened to be 'Dollman Vs. Demonic Toys', which was just a big letdown. This movie is actually a letdown as well. This film was originally planned back in the 90's when Fullmoon brought up the idea of a mini-series. Well after a long wait the movie finally got made. Was it worth the wait? My answer would be yes and no. There were some things that I liked about this movie, but the bad really outweighs the good. I was mostly disappointed with this film and it was hard for me to take it seriously. From the characters, to the acting and even down to the look of the smaller evil characters. The idea of both movie franchises coming together really caught my attention and even had me pumped up to see it. I honestly didn't know what to expect and I'm really glad that I wasn't expecting it to be great or anything fantastic. What I found most entertaining was the acting from Corey Feldman. I couldn't help but laugh most of the time he talked, which was actually most of the movie. I found myself laughing at the little things that just weren't meant to be funny.

When I first found out that this would premiere on the Sci-Fi channel I knew right away that the movie would end up being low budget and corny. To no surprise I was correct. The acting in the film was off and at times the movements from the puppets looked cheap and fast. I happen to love cheesy flicks but seeing this film is just as fun as watching time fly by. Seeing the puppets and demonic toys on screen again was a neat pleasure though, but seeing them fight was a whole different story. For one the way the puppets and toys looked were kind of disappointing. I may sound picky for saying this but each of the puppets and toys used in this film were newly built and looked different. Its hard to describe the looks but its really noticeable, especially with the demonic toys. They just seemed to look less scary and evil (especially the toy bear, he looked more cute than threatening). The other thing that bothered me is the fact that they used only a few of the well known dolls in the movie. We get to see the puppets Blade, Pinhead, Chester and 6 Shooter. As for the evil toys we get to see Oopsidasy (baby doll), the teddy bear and that crazy Jack in the box. It was nice seeing them in a film together but I thought all the so called fight scenes were horrible and embarrassing. It makes sense knowing that this is a low budget feature, so it's not like you're going to see grade A fight sequences with the best special effects anyway.

I think it was a smart move to have this film premiere on the Sc-Fi channel. They really didn't have to cut out much because there is hardly any gore shown. There is some blood and gore, just not that much. Like a lot of low budget films this one definitely has its corny moments. Some of them were positives to me, I had a good laugh watching this movie and I did find some things entertaining. Sadly I found there to be more negatives than positives. The story could have been a lot better, but the way everything was put together was pretty decent. The demonic toy Oopsidasy is a hilarious character as always, using his ass more than once and saying those funny lines. That character was one of the highlights for me. The fight sequences between the puppets and toys were short and lame. You'd figure that they could've done a much better job with that aspect of the picture, especially since that's what the movie is based upon. Part of reason why I wanted to see this film was to watch all the characters collide in a battle to the death. In the end I was disappointed with the outcome. Hell at least they gave the puppets a cyber upgrade, not to mention the DVD is pretty cheap so you can pick it up for a low price. But even then you really got to think hard about doing that.

Overall I thought this was a pretty bad movie. But if you don't take it too seriously then perhaps you will enjoy it more than I did. I honestly just couldn't take it seriously. The story could've been better, the acting is bad and I thought it was unimpressive. Sure it's low budget and im usually into those kind of films, but this one is pretty bad. If you enjoy watching really corny movies then I definitely recommend checking this out. I'm sure you'll have a laugh all the way through. If you're a fan of either the Puppet Master or Demonic Toys movies then you will very disappointed with this film. If you ever do plan on watching it then just rent it and don't expect anything great or fancy. Just grab a group of friends, make some popcorn and laugh your asses off.

5 out of 5 stars The best Puppet Master film in over a decade.......2006-05-18

For those of us that were fortunate enough to watch the delicious demonic horror of the first Full Moon movies of the late 80s and early 90's, this DVD will remind us how brilliant the first few Puppet Master films were, or how devilish the first Demonic Toys film was. This movie captures all that lightning in a bottle, adds an extra dose of humor, and gift wraps the whole thing just in time for the holidays.

Featuring Corey Feldman as one of the decedents of Andre Toulon, who rediscovers 4 of the beloved Toulon puppets -Blade, Pinhead, Jester, and Six-Shooter, he reanimates them and sets about trying to protect them. But, the head of Sharpe toys, Erica Sharpe played by Vanessa Angel, has her own plans for both Toulon and his puppets as she plans to create an army of demonic toys on Christmas Day.

The animation of the dolls and puppets isn't as painstaking as it has been in the past, and the special effects are slightly sub-par, but the acting is brilliantly outlandish and the script his hilarious.

This was made for TV, so while there is some violence, there is minimal cursing and it's the most wholesome horror movie I have seen for quite some time. Yet, that wholesomeness does nothing to take away from the fun of the film.

So if you like full moon, if you like horror movies, if you want an alternative holiday film instead of It's a Wonderful Life, then this is your film, and a smart addition to your library for the money.

    Highly recommended.

2 out of 5 stars Another VS movie............2006-02-23

Im a REALLLLLLL big fan of the Puppet Master Legacy so far until this, this had some BEAUTIFUL women and the puppets thats about it lol.

The acting was terrible and most of the story is predictable. The main boy from The Goonies plays the scientist did a suprisingly annoying job and its safe to see why we aint seen him in many movies since The Goonies....this movie could of been a real good movie or atleast good enough for some people to recomise it as a cult movie, but instead i can see this being forgotten, added to the most terrible movies ever list or sold at a Gas station for $3.95
