Love it!.......2007-05-14
What can I say...I absolutely adore Doris Day, and who better to play opposite than Rock Hudson. If you love a good romantic comedy classic you'll love it!
Romantic Comedies that Set the Standard.......2007-04-08
Rock Hudson and Doris Day did it to the hilt with these three romantic comedies. The acting is superb, the scripts are marvelously written, and the dramatic tension/laughs/plots just keep pouring it on.
I think these are three of the best comedies of this type ever done in the following order:
1. Lover Come Back
2. Send Me No Flowers
3. Pillow Talk
Frank Scoblete: author of Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution! and Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution!
Lover Come Back is the Best of the Three.......2007-03-02
I challenge anyone to watch this film without busting a gut laughing. As Rock protests his awkwardness with women, you're thinking about what must be going through his mind. This was lost on me when I was kid, but it was still hilarious. As Webster perpetrates fraud upon fraud on Day's character while posing as Linus Tyler, you can just see the payoff mounting. They'll never make films like this again, not because their time has passed, but because Holyweirders have no talent.
The Best Ever.......2007-01-21
I am a fan of Doris Day. My soul smiles when I'm watching one of her movies. This is probably the greatest collection of her movies. Doris & Rock are great together and Tony Randall is absolutly hilarious in all three movies. Doris is an awesome actress. She reminds me of sunshine and flowers. I have a large collection of her movies and when I just want to feel 'happy' I'll watch them. My favorite comedies are "Pillow Talk", "Lover Come Back", "The Thrill of it All" & "Move Over Darling" (which is FINALLY being released on DVD this month). My favorite drama is "Love Me or Leave Me" and suspense " Midnight Lace", musical "My Dream is Yours" . I think every famous male actor of that time wanted his name shared with hers on movie billboards. There's something to be said about an actress and actor who consumes your being when watching them perform. If they can make you laugh or bring a tear to your eye then they have what it takes to be classified as an actor. Betty Davis said "there is a difference between an actress and a movie star" - by Davis' definition, Doris is an actress! She is fantastic in every genre of film and is also a gifted singer. What a voice! Again, when I feel I need a lift I'll put on her CD's. As for fashion statements...she ranks with Audrey Hepburn in this category. She brings class and elegance to the fashion industry. She epitomizes class and pizazz. She is a fantastic actress who lives in my heart. You can't go wrong with any Doris Day movie.
Doris and Rock .......2007-01-18
I bought this for my wife and she loves it! These movies are classics. The bonus CD with eight Doris Day songs was a nice touch.

Jan Morrow (Doris Day) and Brad Allen (Rock Hudson) have never met, but they're sworn enemies because of one small appliance in their lives: the telephone. The two share a party line, and Jan is outraged over the amount of time Bill spends wooing women over the phone. A convenient triangle emerges when a client (Tony Randall) of Jan's--she's an interior decorator--falls in love with her and happens to be Brad's old college chum. When Brad makes the connection, he decides to try to court Jan himself, to make her more sympathetic to his phone woes. Of course, she'd never go for such a heel, so he passes himself off as Rex Stetson, a Texas rancher visiting New York. The ensuing tale, albeit predictable, is lots of fun, with some quick-witted dialogue and some clever use of split-screens for the phone calls. Thelma Ritter is hilarious as Jan's always-hung-over maid, Alma; and the pairing of Rock and Doris works beautifully, as always. --Jenny Brown

Love it!!!.......2007-04-05
This is one of my favorite classic movies! Always good for a laugh and leaves you with smile. Rock Hudson and Doris Day are great together, and this is one I can watch with my kids without fear of what they might see or hear.
Classic Romantic Comedy!!.......2007-03-09
I fell in love with Doris Day movies as a child thanks to my mother's love for these classic romantic comedies. When other girls were watching Julia Roberts (okay, I was too) I was watching Doris Day. "Pillow Talk" is light-hearted, good natured fun filled with classic one liners, a fun storyline and laughs all around. Rock Hudson and Doris Day share a beautiful chemistry that goes unmatched. Scene stealer, Thelma Ritter, is a treat; her comedic timing is impeccable!!
If you are looking for some light-hearted fun, this would be the movie for you!!!!
At the end of the Day, she carries the comedy.......2006-12-21
Jan Morrow (Doris Day) is a well-dressed interior decorator that unwillingly shares a party line with playboy Brad Allen (Rock Hudson). Unknowingly, they also share a business relationship with Jonathan Forbes (Tony Randall). When Jan complains to Brad about his disrespect for women, he accuses her of having "bedroom problems." This infuriates her to the point of throwing herself in the arms of the next man she meets, Rex Stetson, who turns out to be Brad in "disguise." Having never seen Brad before, he just needed to speak with an accent and turn on some Texan charm. However, Jonathan is pursuing a disinterested Jan and doesn't want a strapping playboy in the competition. During the pretense, "Rex" develops genuine feelings for Jan while Jonathan strives to expose the deception. After everything backfires on everyone, they resort to unconventional methods of resolving differences. Brad tries to get the housekeeper Alma (Thelma Ritter), a lush and who is Brad Allen's most devoted party-line listener, drunk in order to find Jan's vulnerable side.
I first came in the middle of PILLOW TALK, so later had to go back and see what I missed -- which could be summed up in one sentence: "Opposites attract as designer Day and playboy Hudson share a party line while wealthy Randall competes for Day." The remaining 43 minutes is where the action begins.
For Oscar-nominated Day, this movie represents a departure from her girl-next-door image. Though starting off traditionally, she later wants Rex to make a play for her -- practically inviting herself on a weekend cabin retreat with him before returning to her desire for matrimony. As was the case in LOVER COME BACK, there are brief scenes where circumstance causes others in the film to question Hudson heterosexuality. Not knowing when his alternative lifestyle began, either fact follows fiction or he cherished the opportunity to peek out of the closet before it was popular. In 1985 he died of AIDS. Randall adds his usual levity when he enters a scene. Except for the bar room drinking match, Ritter's role is somewhat incidental. The humor stems from the movie plot rather than slapstick jokes. Through it all, Day carries the bulk of the comedy.
Movie quote: "I have no bedroom problems. There's nothing in my bedroom that bothers me."
Pillow Talk.......2006-11-04
This is a happy dappy movie. It's upbeat, it's musical and come on... the actors are very easy on the eyes. I love Doris Day's outfits and her perfect hair/makeup. I love Rock Hudson's prince charming good looks.
If you don't own it, buy it. You won't regret it.
One of Doris Day's Best.......2006-08-19
This film is enjoyable and Doris Day and Rock Hudson are very good together. Add Tony Randall and you have a film with lots of laughs.

Reduced version ..........2007-06-26
I could be wrong here, but I think you are comparing apples and oranges ... in the romance version, there is a music cd added, along with the beefed up packaging and gift box - thus the extra cost. Let's do some additional research here to make sure there aren't two different products and not a repeat of the same item. I think this new release is just the 3 movies - no music cd included.
What? They've already released these..........2007-06-04
These exact three movies have already been released as a collection titled the Doris Day/Rock Hudson Romance Collection. The packaging for the earlier collection is much nicer, so this is in every way a step down. I give the movies 4 stars because they're great. I give this release 0 stars because it's so lame they're releasing the exact same movies as a collection with a different name and a picture on the cover that's not their best. Average it together and you get the 2 stars.
Third release? What?.......2007-05-07
There are many Doris Day and Rock Hudson fans out there. Universal studio knows this, too. They have been profitting off these three movies as long as they can. With "Pillow Talk" having been released three times already on DVD and the other two movies ("Send Me No Flowers" and "Lover Come Back") being relased twice, it seems as though they weren't enough and need to be out on DVD again. Or so, the studio appears to think so.
What bothers me the most about this release is there's no listing of the special features this will and may entell. For that, one cannot decide whether or not their money is worth the exchange. However, it does appear that Universal is trying to appeal more economical with this release and give the consumer a 2-disc economical packaging. For that reason, based on it's lowest cost thus far, it may be a well planned out endeavor by the studio to release these movies once more. However, it almost becomes a slap-in-the-face to the long-time fans of these comedies whom have already bought the more expensive sets over the last few years.
