The raunchy slapstick comedy Soul Plane touches down on DVD in an unrated "Mile High Edition" that adds five minutes of more outrageous material that should appeal to fans who queued up for this urban take on Airplane! Kevin Hart stars a young man who becomes the head of the first all-black airline after winning a major lawsuit. Complications arise during the maiden voyage courtesy of a chemically impeded pilot (Snoop Dogg), a misplaced white family (led by Tom Arnold), and Hart's scheming cousin (Method Man). Snoop, Method, Arnold, and Missi Pyle are the most amusing in the game cast, but too frequently, any attempt to pull Soul Plane out of a scatological tailspin is undone by music-video helmer Jessy Torero's unfocused direction. Still, the gags come fast and furious, so for there's undoubtedly something to laugh at amidst the bathroom and ethnic jibes. --Paul Gaita

An all-star cast, including Tom Arnold, Kevin Hart and hip-hop superstars Method Man and Snoop Dogg, takes to the skies in this "relentlessly raunchy" (The New York Times) comedy about a full-service airline complete with sexy stewardesses, a mack casino and the hottest dance club at 30,000 feet. 3 out of 5 stars Soul Swope.......2007-03-30

With all its faults, cliches, weak satire,
and lack of social commentary, this film is, in spirit,
the closest thing to an updated version of the late sixties
flick "Putney Swope" I have seen in 35 years.

5 out of 5 stars panther.......2007-01-06

Great sound, great style, and a lot of funky fun its what you will find in soul plane.

1 out of 5 stars I couldn't stay through the whole movie...........2006-12-30

This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Stupid jokes, lame performances and poorly cast. The scenes with the couple trying to get into the "Mile High Club" were appallingly dreadful. Please destroy this movie before it does any further harm to the movie industry.

3 out of 5 stars Unfortunately there's not enough of BLING, BLING to save this film........2006-09-01

I usually love crude humor, or can at least tolerate it. I love so-called "Black" comedies. I'm not easily offended, either. `Soul plane' is just down right stupid!, You'll probably never see another movie quite like this! Some would say that's a good thing, but as I watched this I caught a few laughs. I've seen some pimped out rides, but a pimped out plane? I think people are taking this movie a bit too seriously, or they don't know how, when or why to laugh at this specific type of cultural humor, this is very obviously a FUBU movie. This is another movie that just pokes fun at everything & everybody.

Racial stereotypes and black/white culture are embraced rather than dispelled. Some of the jokes are forced and other's had there awkward moments. Tom Arnold can be fun to watch, although he has not made anything like that since 'True Lies' but in this movie he was just average. Snoop Dogg can be a lot of fun, even in bad films, but here he is one of the worst things on board even though he had some funny lines. Monique was her usual self in her role. Dwayne Adway is a bit weak in the leading role he needed to stick to being the straight man. Stewardess Sofia Vergara has landed in this film from being pictured on a footballer's arm. And like Francine Dee (who plays the Chinese stripper here) is another one of the models and women that have appeared as portraits by the GB artist and psychic Stephen Armourae. This film tries to be an Airplane spoof. But that in itself was a spoof. Double negatives don't work well.

I'm sort of scared to even recommend this movie for purchase, I rather say rent it out first, just to be on the safe side. For all of you that like the black comedic-type films similar to some of the Wayans Brothers work, then this is the film for you. Prepare yourself for a crazy flight aboard the Soul Plane.

2 out of 5 stars Come on its not as bad as everyone says it is..........2006-07-11

yeah well that might be true, but it is still quite bad.

Soul Plane is that movie that you watch and cringe. You feel embarassed for the characters on the set. Not for the actors, as they dug their own graves by signing onto this plane crash of a film, but for the characters. You ask yourself: why the hell are you doing something so stupid? Why on earth did you just say that ridiculous piece of dialogue? Why are you on a purple plane and so on.

That being said, doesn't that plane look a lot like Barney?

What I was most dissapointed with is just the low level of satire in this film. Well, I actually did find it to be more intellectually stimulating than the standard Carlos Mencia skit, but I still found it to be on a very low level. I mean, there were so many sterotypes that they missed completely. I think that the white people can't dance stereotype went almost completely untouched and they had all the components right in front of them. And what about the inexcusable way in which watermelon was completely omitted from the film? Where the hell were the barbecques? Why wasn't anybody robbed at knifepoint? Why were there no jokes about Mexicans seeing the virgin mary in airplane food? Why did the Arab lack bombs strapped to his body? Why were there no dead goldfish in the player's boots?

Now that I have pointed out all of these inexcusable omissions, I have to ask: why was the movie so short? Racial stereotyping provides more material than a thousand talented writers.

That being said, the movie provides a few laughs, but they are not enough to make this movie passable or more appealling than a Colt 45 and some Popeyes. Smoke a blunt and watch this, I know I did, but it will still not be enough to make humour of a man sticking his fingers into mashed potatos and thinking that it is a female sexual organ.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Not good enough!.......2004-12-24

I honestly can say that this dvd doesn't worth buying, because it has nothing about Aaliyah actually. It's full of people talking about Aaliyah who weren't even close to her, but met her twice.. I find this dvd pretty borring and the quality isn't good enough for dvd.
The good thing about this dvd is that they show some rare cut-offs from Aaliyah's interviews, some pictures and clips from public appearances. But again, they don't show Aaliyah often, that's why this dvd is really borring..
But still it's a bit better than Loosing Aaliyah which was terrible and disrespectful, but still it doesn't worth of spending your money on it in my opinion.. I wish there was a real, good dvd about Aaliyah..

2 out of 5 stars not worth watching twice.......2004-06-29

Being a big fan, I didn't really learn anything new from this DVD that I haven't already read about. The people interviewed were all producers, writers, coaches, and other industry people, but no one I had ever heard of. I wanted to see more footage of Aaliyah and learn more about different aspects of her life. The narrator was hugely annoying - she talked really slowly with a heavy accent. I couldn't sit still and watch because I was getting bored. It felt like this was just a big promotional video for the people interviewed and I did not feel at all satisfied after watching it!

3 out of 5 stars Aaliyah Deserves A Better Tribute............2004-06-14

Hi I bought So Much More Than A Rip Off..... sorry, So Much More Than A Woman DVD. Aaliyah looks great (as usual) the most annoying thing about this DVD is that its all revolved around her death, i'm not being funny but it should have concentrated on her life in a positive note. Note: on of the interviewee says "If Your Boy Only Knew" Which made me LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One again the money grabbers are back from Losing Aaliyah and just how do they inted to makie a good DVD about Aaliyah without her music, her music was her life, without it the DVD is incomplete.
HOWEVER on a more positive note where Aaliyah is featured in the DVD she looks stunning, espcially in the begining, she's just an amazing woman.
