This hit-and-miss 1988 comedy pairs John Candy and Dan Aykroyd in a story of one family's summer vacation all but ruined by the uninvited appearance of another, more loutish family. Howard Deutch (Some Kind of Wonderful) directs from a half-hearted John Hughes script, which reduces Hughes's jokes-and-epiphanies formula (The Breakfast Club, Home Alone) to true gaudiness. On the other hand, Annette Bening makes her screen debut here. One Laugh After Another!.......2007-02-07

This film cracks me up! I have watched it numerous times over the years and I still find every scene just as funny as I did the first time I watched it!

Two families come together to make this a great film. John Candy plays the kind, caring family man out to enjoy a family vacation with his wife and two sons at a cabin out in the wilderness in an area he enjoyed staying in as a boy with his family. Dan Aykroyd and his wife and two daughters decide to surprise Candy and his family by joining them on their vacation. Candy's character and Aykroyd's character are brother-in-laws and they are complete polar opposites in every sense of the word. Aykroyd's character is an annoying creep that thinks he's better than the next guy and is always doing the oneupmanship thing whenever he can. Mix Aykroyd's character and that of Candy's character and you have one laugh after another! Sit back, watch and enjoy this film!

John Candy movies have become classics - I grew up watching him and now I am buying the DVDs so my 2 children can enjoy him, too. He always lit up the screen and made some enjoyable family movies. My 5 year old laughs and laughs at his antics on screen.

This is by far one of the greatest comedy films of all time, along side classics such as animal house, caddyshack, and the Vacation Series. John Candy and Dan Aykroyd are brother in laws who end up coming together by "chance" at a Cabin in the north woods. Over the vacations time, the families discover new things about each other, strengthen their bonds, oh, and make you laugh until your sides split. This movie has it all, animal talk, overeating, stupid human tricks, "scary stories", action, thrills, and romance. What more could you want in one package. Buy this movie, well worth the price, cause you'll watch it over and over again.

So many animals, so many signs, more great fun. .......2007-07-03

This video teaches signs for outdoor animals and things seen in nature. My 5 year daughter loves this volume and volume 9 since they have lots and lots of animal signs. The video has Rachel (host) say and sign the word and then the children will demonstrate the sign. To help practice the signs there are more great songs to sign and sing to. Definietly worth the money to own all the videos.

Between the songs, the signing, the adorable kids, the animated backgrounds, and Rachel, this dvd is a hit! Our family loves it as well as the rest of the dvds in the Signing Time! series. My youngest child knows all the signs in this, and an added bonus is that he has learned to read the words associated with the signs. Get ready to explore The Great Outdoors with Signing Time!

Valueable educational products for kids ever made.......2006-11-10

We were introduced by our son's child care giver. He was 20 months old when he first started with signing time in Daycare. Ever since then he came home signing and singing the melody of the songs from the DVDs. When he started to speak all the alphabets and numbers and words from the books, me and my husband were surprised and happy. When he was two years old, he already knew all the colors, number 1-10 and A to Z in additon to a lot of vocabs. Until today, he watches signing time everyday and continue learning.
We think this is a great fun learning product and we love it!

We love Signing Time.......2006-08-16

Our school is currently using Signing Time in an after school program to introduce and teach American Sign Language to children ranging in grades K-6. Rachel does a good job of desribing and demonstating the signs. The music and songs create an enjoyable way to reinforce the new signs learned.

Not for everyone........2007-05-31

Hmmm. Well, some people love Elmo, some people hate him. My daughter kind of likes him, although I try and keep exposure to a minimum... I'm an old-school Sesame Street fan, but I've always loathed Elmo's super-cutesiness and vacuuous presentation. This video is okay -- there is some admirable educational content, but jeez, is Elmo whiny. And at some point in every episode there'd come a moment when I could swear I could hear my kid's brain cells popping. It's hard to find intelligent, inoffensive, unscary, nonviolent media for toddlers to enjoy, and with Elmo, I'd say two out of four ain't bad... On balance, I'd say this disc -- like other "Elmo's World" videos -- has its merits, but there are parts of it that are a little insulting to the intelligence of little viewers. Parents might want to preview it first, not because it's scary or whatever, but just to see if it's really what they want to have flooding their kid's mind. I finally decided it was too dumb, and am looking for better material. "Little Bear," maybe?

OK, i read some of the other reviews and just shook my head at some peoples reaction to this DD even i ahd my dad read this and he agreed, I have a 1 year old ad 3 year olkd sister, I'll come in the room and watch it with them sometimes, when Prarie Dawn gets blown away all the 1-year old does is say bye bye and if our little neighbor mario is over he will giggle and join in and before you knoiw it 3 toddlers watching this part having a GRAND old time watching that part when older kids are screaming in panic, try to expose your children to their fear little by little, thats how my parents got me to get over my fear of escaltors when I was 7, just expose it to them little by little and tell them the wolf isn;t going to get them, hey there are worse things my friend went face to face with a wolf when he was 8! a real one too when he was fishinbg with his sister, luckily the wolf was just after the fish strangly. Back to the DVD, the other part parents claim is scary with the tornado the 3-year old says COOL! Hey they havce to learn about torbadoes in 3rd grade, the last thing you want is your kid screming and crying because they see a tornado adn start calling the kid cry baby. Try to expose the kids to this slowly, this is not the headless horseman we're dealing with, its just foam puppets that are trying to educate our children about the world. Nobody can hide their little babies inside when they r 40 years old to hide them of the dangers of the world, they need to expierence the world, if you know what I mean learn about it, learn about strangers, weather, etc anything about the world so they are prepared when they go out on their own in this cruel world when they grow up. So parents, try to get them to watch this little by little and not ban them from this tape because they teach them about the WORLD. I know this is coming from a 13 year old but at least try to expose them to this video alittle bit.

My 18 months old son just loves Elmo's World. But this one is defintely his all-time favorite. It is just as good as Elmo's
Family, Mail and Bathtime.I highly recommend it.

Too Scary for Toddlers.......2005-07-05

My 16 month old LOVES Elmo and Sesame Street so I was very surprised at his reaction to this DVD. When the Big Bad Wolf blew away Prairie Dawn and the camera, he started screaming and crying and climbing all over me (like the wolf was "getting him"). I try to remember to fast-forward past this part but sometimes forget. He knows the scene is coming several scenes before and climbs in my lap for protection. This comes from a child who has NEVER been frightened by anything on TV.

Also, my 2 1/2 year old neice was afraid of the very scary tornado in the weather segment. This DVD may be appropriate for older childrn, but definitely not for toddlers.

Best of the Series.......2007-03-20

This was by far the best of this series. The music was much better, and the behind the scenes looks at what the mechanics and team managers add to the effort was priceless. I've watched this three times already and if I were wanting to show someone what the outdoor series was like, I would show them this DVD.

If you are into thrash metal, screaming lyrics, and the type of music that drives anyone over the age of 25 from the room, you probably will not like this edition.

This IMAX film is a wonderful look into the lives of the dwellers of the GREAT NORTH, both human and animal. The shots of herds of caribou are very impressive and the traditional "breathing" kind of music the inuit women practice is fascinating. Overall an entertaining way to learn about this little-known region.

Dorf is THE MAN!.......2002-12-07

While many people may find this video "stupid" and a waste of money, a true fisherman (or woman) will appreciate the humor in this video. Tim Conway portrays the sport of fishing in a quirky and entertaining manner, that would put a smile on anyone's face. I enjoy it more and more every time I watch it, and I've watched it about a million times. IT'S HILLARIOUS!

Not the best of Dorf.......2000-06-13

Our family is a fan of Tim Conway's Dorf. We enjoyed this movie, but not nearly as well as his others. This one has some great scenes, but they are countered with scenes that tend to repeat the same gag a bit too much. Some of the content seems to try too hard to be funny, and some just is not funny. We did not find the name calling and spouse fighting worth a repeat watch. If you desire a complete set of Dorf videos, you should add this to your collection. If you are out for one great Dorf video, this is not it.
