Director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) brings his distinctly cartoonish sensibility to this feature film version of the old Charles Addams comic strip. Anjelica Huston was born to play Morticia Addams, matriarch of the ghoulish Addams clan, while the late Raul Julia is a very agreeable, lusty Gomez. But it's Christina Ricci who arguably steals the show as their stone-faced daughter, Wednesday. As is often the problem with adaptations of comics or television shows, somehow an original story has to be implemented that doesn't clutter things up. But clutter is an issue here as the script gets tangled on a lame plot concerning efforts to steal the Addams' house and fortune. Still, it's fun to see an ideal cast reanimate an old favorite. --Tom Keogh

Based on the original Goth cartoons by Charles "Chas" Addams that ran for decades in the New Yorker magazine, The Addams Family television sitcom portrayed a monster family whose moribund physical appearances were counteracted by each family member's exuberance for passion and adventure. This Volume Two DVD contains twenty-one episodes, including the last of season one and the whole of season two, plus commentaries, and a featurette about the cinematic impact The Addams Family had on American television culture. Premiering the same year as The Munsters, this short-lived series was one of the first two shows to take issue with the Leave It To Beaver aesthetic that dominated television throughout the 50s, in which perfect families narrowly defined normality in the American home. Instead, it starred a family feared by neighbors, who within the boundaries of their haunted Victorian mansion invented their own thriving, not to mention fun, culture. The Addams Family proved that outsiders could be extremely gracious, educated, and interesting, even if eccentricities rendered their looks a threat.
These episodes include the original cast: Gomez (John Astin) and Morticia (Carolyn Jones), Uncle Fester (Jackie Coogan), the two children Wednesday and Pugley, butler Lurch, hairy Cousin Itt, and the enigmatic hand, Thing, who plays castanets for the married couples' cha cha parties, and looks up things in phone books. Macabre humor in each episode reverses average, expected logic. Flower arranging, for Morticia, involves de-budding and stripping roses of all but the thorns. In "Morticia, The Sculptress," Gomez bribes a local art dealer to buy Morticia's hideous art at the Addams Family's own expense, revealing Gomez to be a strange but loving husband. In most episodes, such as "Lurch, The Teenage Idol" and "Cousin Itt and the Vocational Counselor," The Addams' aim to help their loved ones succeed, in these cases Lurch, as a harpsichord-playing pop star, and Itt, on a career search for an unintelligible, hair-covered little person. The Addams Family house interior still looks exquisite forty years later, full of taxidermied animals, antique furniture, carnivorous plants, and medieval charm. One watches this show not only for its sets and costumes, but also for its refreshingly wide take on what successful families can look like. --Trinie Dalton

"The Addams Family".......2007-06-29
I just LOVE this series! The first one I saw was the one with Scooby-Doo. Later, I realized that there was a live-action show of this! Then later, I learned that this aired on TV Land! Now I watch this and enjoy these hilarious episodes! So, if you like vampire-ish people, black comedy, gothic, and all that other kind of stuff, then this volume set is for you!
I got it.......2007-06-11
I'm working my way through re-watching these digitally restored episodes and enjoying it just as I did the first set.
The extras on the disks are not so interesting, but we're dealing with a fairly old series and so it's not like there's a lot of folks that were involved who can tell lots of stories... I think they did all that on the last disc set and so these extras are kinda just filler and silly stuff.

sice i am a big addamsfan i have longed for this release of the old tv-series. we have had them on the telly back in early 1980 in sweden as a replay but i could not get hold of them ,so i am very pleased with my purchase.the original episodes were broadcast in sweden when i was just five or six years old but i still remember that i was fashionated of them, even thoug i was not allowed to watch it.
today i am 43 years old and i get setteled in the couch with a good glas of red wine and i watch two or three episodes in a row.
i especially like the comments from the actors and the special features given to me from the dvd.i can really recomend this dvd .

When comdies were actually FUNNY.......2007-05-13
I guess they will never actually make really funny comedies like this ever again. No worries about "political correctness", or need to promote some sort of message. This was a series dedicated to one and only one purpose.... being FUNNY!!!
And it did so very well.
You have to love the deadpan acceptance of the macabre, and, to what would be to the "normal" people in the stories, scary and frightening ideas.
I'm not going to comment on the sitcoms of today, except to say that they just aren't really fun to watch.
Maybe it's true what more and more people say.... television is starting to fade from prominence.

If The Munsters was a traditional family sitcom as reimagined by Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, The Addams Family is a macabre twist on Father Knows Best. The Munster and Addams clans made their TV debuts in 1964 and lasted two seasons before the networks buried them. The Addamses are now gloriously resurrected in this three-disc set that digs up the series' first 22 episodes (oddly, 12 shy of the complete first season). Inspired by Charles Addams's New Yorker cartoons, The Addams Family is fiendishly funny, with a dead-on cast that indelibly embodies Addams's characters. John Astin brings a demented glee to eccentric, frighteningly wealthy Gomez Addams. Carolyn Jones is bewitching as his pre-goth wife, Morticia, whom the Beatles might have had in mind when they sang, "Baby's in Black." Jackie Coogan is the electrifying Uncle Fester, with Ted Cassidy (who famously took a kick in the groin from Paul Newman in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) is the monstrous butler Lurch, whose "You rang?" entered the pop culture lexicon.
The Munsters was family friendly. The Addams Family is more sophisticated and wickedly funny. As Gomez notes at one point, "There's a touch of madness" in the Addams household, where "every day is Halloween." Bear rugs growl, a disembodied hand, Thing, delivers the mail, and a torture rack is good for what ails you. The children, Wednesday (Lisa Loring) and older brother Pugsley (Ken Weatherwax), enjoy such hobbies as playing autopsy or exploding model trains. Gomez and Morticia were one of television's most passionate couples, with Gomez being driven to arm-kissing ecstasy whenever Morticia spoke French. The last episode included in this collection, "Amnesia in the Addams Family," is a classic in which Gomez is rendered "normal" following a conk on the head. The look of disgust on Morticia and Lurch's face when he asks for a glass of milk is priceless. The "altogether ooky" extras include three episode commentaries, a featurette on Charles Addams, reminiscences from cast members Astin, Loring, and Weatherwax, a segment on the creation of the classic snap-snap theme song ("They're creepy and they're kooky...."), and the inevitable theme song sing-along. The Addams Family at last on DVD? As Gomez might exclaim: "Capital!" --Donald Liebenson

The Addams Family TV show, volume one. We have been fans from the beginning. It is a delight to watch these old shows whenever we want. The DVD is great!
Creepie, Koockie.......2007-05-10
Bought this set after not having seen The Adam's Family for many years. One of the best sitcoms of the 60's. well written with a perfect cast. more extras would have been nice, audio commentary on only three episodes and a couple of short featurettes. keep in mind however this is a fairly low priced set though. Well worth it.
Love it!.......2007-05-08
I think these dvd's are great if you like the old Addams Family sitcom.

This is a great compilation of episodes of a truly hilarious TV show from my childhood. I have thoroughly enjoyed revisiting them, and with my kids this time. I love having good, clean fun to share with my kids. I also like for them to be familiar with the cultural icons of my childhood. This show is just as fun and innovative as I remember it being. The picture and sound quality are superb on this DVD set. This was a great bargain for the price. I highly recommend it.

6 Discs for 21 episodes? In my opinion, that a bit of a stretch so as to charge more money, but what is one going to do, having little choice if you are an Addams Family fan. Carolyn Jones was fabulous, but John Astin what a character actor! He's just great to watch.

The Addams Family
--Tom Keogh
The Addams Family Values
This somewhat more cohesive follow-up to The Addams Family has the same director, Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black), but a better story line. Joan Cusack plays a busty gold digger who ingratiates herself into the Addams home and convinces Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) that she wants to marry him. Besides Lloyd, the cast includes Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia, ideal as those Brontëan lovers, Morticia and Gomez. But Christina Ricci again walks away with the best moments as the chilly Wednesday Addams, making life miserable for two camp counselors (Peter MacNicol and Christine Baranski) who want her to fit in with other kids.--Tom Keogh
Description
The Addams Family - When long-lost Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) reappears after twenty-five years in the Bermuda Triangle, Gomez (Raul Julia) and Morticia (Anjelica Huston) plan a celebration to wake the dead. But Wednesday (Christina Ricci) barely has time to warm up her electric chair before Thing points out Fester's uncommonly "normal" behavior. Could this Fester be a fake, part of an evil scheme to raid the Addams fortune? Based on Charles Addams' beloved cartoons and following the success of the hit TV series, The Addams Family is a visual funhouse, packed with plenty of treats, tricks and turns by director Barry Sonnenfeld. The Addams Family Values - It's love at first fright when Gomez (Raul Julia) and Morticia (Anjelica Huston) welcome a new addition to the Addams household - Pubert, their soft, cuddly, mustachioed baby boy. As Fester (Christopher Lloyd) falls hard for voluptuous nanny Debbie Jilinsky (Joan Cusack), Wednesday (Christina Ricci) and Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) discover she's a black-widow murderess who plans to add Fester to her collection of dead husbands. The family's future grows even bleaker when the no-good nanny marries Fester and has the kids shipped off to summer camp. But Wednesday still has a Thing or two up her sleeve...
Customer Reviews:
Thank You, Thing.......2007-05-17
The movie Addam's Family is a little darker than the orginal TV bunch. More sinister -- less innocent in intent.
Wonderful campy performances by the entire cast, especially Wednesday. The camp sequences in _Addams Family Values_ alone is worth the price of admission.
Very witty screenplays -- I pretty much laughed my way through both of these.
Two thumbs up.
Two good movies, one disk, one low price!.......2007-04-29
These are both enjoyable movies. The first one is my favorite of the two, but the second is still highly enjoyable and worth having on this disk. All the major roles are perfectly cast as far as I'm concerned. The special effects are fantastic for their time. I've always wondered how they did the effects for Thing. If the movie were more recent It'd be done as a CG character, but I'm pretty sure this was before they would have been able to do it that way.
LOVE THIS SET.......2007-01-13
I bought this for my young daughter for Christmas and we really enjoy it. Having both of these movies on the same DVD makes storage easier AND it ensures they don't get seperated if we want to watch them back to back.
I grew up a big fan of the Addams family, original series. My 9yr old daughter grew up as a fan of the remake of this series, which came out as two movies: The Addams Family and Addams Family Values. Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston and Christopher Lloyd do a wonderful job in the remakes; so much so, that I personally like the remakes almost as much as the original.
A Halloween Treat.......2007-01-05
Cute, entertaining movie(s) with all-star casts. This will become a tradition around Halloween at our house (as well as other times of year). Unique films without being overly violent or gory. Very enjoyable and totally recommend for family movie entertainment.
ADDAMS AND ALL.......2007-01-03
WE'VE BEEN FANS OF THE ADDAMS FAMILY SINCE THE SERIES WAS ON TV YEARS AGO. THIS MIGHT BE A LITTLE SCARY FOR SMALLER CHILDREN BUT OLDER ONES WILL BE ENTERTAINED BY THE ANTICS OF THIS STRANGE BUT LOVABLE FAMILY.

When Roman tribune Marcellus Gallio (Richard Burton) is sent to Jerusalem, one of his assignments is the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Marcellus, a cynical and hardened man, wins the robe Jesus wore to the crucifixion while gambling with other Roman soldiers underneath the dying savior. He later becomes convinced that his hallucinations and violent outbursts are the result of a curse received from the robe, which is now in the possession of his escaped slave, Demetrius (Victor Mature), somewhere in the Middle East. He sets out to find Demetrius in order to destroy the robe and the curse and finds faith instead, converting to Christianity. This was the first movie to be filmed in CinemaScope, and won Oscars in 1953 for costume design, art direction, and set decoration. The visual aspects of the film are stunning, and it may be worth viewing for that alone; however, the script and acting leave much to be desired, and you won't find inspiration in these areas if that's what interests you. If, however, you are more interested in this film for its religious matter, the story of the conversion of the hardened Marcellus is inspiring. --James McGrath
Description
The first movie ever filmed in CinemaScope, THE ROBE ws nominated for five Academy Awards in 1953, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Richard Burton. Burton stars as Marcellus Galilo, the Roman centurian charged with overseeing the crucifixion. But when he wins Christ's robe in a gambling game at the foot of the cross, his life is forever changed.
Customer Reviews:
Mythology is fun........2007-06-19
No historians of the time mention Jesus. Suetonius (65-135) does not. Pliny the Younger only mentions Christians (Paulists) with no comment of Jesus himself. Tacitus mentions a Jesus, but it is likely that after a century of Christian preaching Tacitus was just reacting to these rumours, or probably talking about one of the many other Messiah's of the time. Josephus, a methodical, accurate and dedicated historian of the time mentions John the Baptist, Herod, Pilate and many aspects of Jewish life but does not mention Jesus. (The Testimonium Flavianum has been shown to be a third century Christian fraud). He once mentions a Jesus, but gives no information other than that he is a brother of a James. Jesus was not an unusual name, either. Justus, another Jewish historian who lived in Tiberias (near Kapernaum, a place Jesus frequented) did not mention Jesus nor any of his miracles. It is only in the evidence of later writers, writing about earlier times, that we find a Jesus.
One of the Best "Biblical Epics".......2007-06-09
This 1953, multiple-Academy Award winning film is easily one of the best of the Biblical Epics, and was the "prequel" to "Demetrius and The Gladiators," which continued the story precisely where it left off in this presentation. Featuring some of the most powerful performances to that time, it is the inspirational tale of the conversion of Marcellus Gallio, the Roman Centurion (superbly portrayed by Richard Burton) who supervised the crucifixion of Jesus, and the price he and his lady-love (Jean Simmons) paid for their faith. In the story, Marcellus and the freed Greek slave Demetrius (Victor Mature) come into guardianship over the robe worn by Jesus at the crucifixion, a situation around which the story is woven. Though the performance is much-criticized as being "over the top," Jay Robinson's portrayal of the Emperor Caligula will grab your attention, and does reflect the thoroughly evil and dominant position that this emperor occupied at the time. It would be a mistake to own this film without also possessing the sequel. A very touching and inspirational movie classic.
THE ROBE, MOVIE VS BOOK.......2007-06-08
This is a review of The Robe, the movie.
It has been almost 50 years since I last saw this movie. I did not remember that it was the first Cinemascope picture from way back in the 50's, 1953 actually.
I have recently read the book. The screenplay is reasonably faithful to the spirit of the story; some of the scenes, events, take place in a different context from those in the novel, but do not detract from the story.
Burton and Simmons are delightful to watch as they do their 'work.' Jay Robinson who plays Caligula does a very good job; his performance is almost in the nature of an upstage to the rest of the cast. The decadence of his rule as Roman Emperor is alluded to by casting him in, what were at the time (the 1950s), certain gay stereotypes.
Also, the character of Tiberius Caesar is well developed. His forecast of the development of Christianity is in keeping with the novel, but in more ambiguous terms than the author's. All the same, very effective.
To explain this last comment: Tiberius' commentary avoids the author's allusion to the later development of Christianity after it became the dominant religion of the Roman Empire when it would be in, to quote Douglas, 'a position to dictate terms.' In this way, the author shows us Christianity in its infancy with a warning of what happens when power, even religious faith, is misused.
All in all, I think all those who profess to be Christians would benefit from both seeing the movie and reading the novel. I could not help, myself, but be moved by both.
The Robe.......2007-05-19
This was an awe inspiring movie. The end was a heart stopper. I will watch it over and over.
Excellent.......2007-05-12
I remember seeing this movie as a teenager and I have always remembered it and enjoyed it and I had to have it in my collection to watch whenever I want to.

Felicity Huffman deserves every award she's received for her outstanding performance in Transamerica, a small but rich movie about Bree--formerly Stanley--a pre-operative male-to-female transexual awaiting gender-reassignment surgery who learns she has a wayward teenage son named Toby. When her therapist (Elizabeth Peña, Jacob's Ladder) strongarms Bree into facing her past, she bails Toby (Kevin Zegers, Dawn of the Dead) out of jail and they end up on a road trip across the country. Such a premise could feel forced, but the script and performances make it persuasive and natural. Bree wrestles with discomfort and compassion as she learns about Toby's own troubles, even while her own grow worse when she's forced to ask for help from her hostile parents (the superb Fionnula Flanagan, The Others, and Burt Young, Rocky). Transamerica doesn't push for any great catharsis, but instead slowly peels away the layers of Bree's defenses, laying bare her basic struggle for respect and a chance at happiness. In many ways it's a showy role, but Huffman (Desperate Housewives) keeps her acting simple, direct, and thoroughly compelling. --Bret Fetzer
Description
Emmy® winner Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives) won the Best Actress (Drama) Golden Globe® Award for her "fiercely funny and deeply powerful" performance (Pete Hammond, Maxim) that is "thrilling to watch." (A.O. Scott, The New York Times) Huffman plays Bree Osbourne, a conservative transsexual woman, who learns she is the parent of a long-lost 17-year-old son (Kevin Zegers). The wheels of fortune take Bree and son on a cross-country adventure, including a memorable visit with Bree's parents, that will change both of their lives. A funny, touching, completely original look at the modern American family, "TRANSAMERICA will leave you in a state of movie euphoria. It's hilarious and deeply affecting." (Joe Morgenstern, The Wall Street Journal. "Felicity Huffman is incredible. One of the year's most unforgettable performances." -Stephen Mooallem, Interview
Customer Reviews:
Huffmann shines!.......2007-06-30
Huffmann (the frumpy housewife on desperate housewives) shines as a gender challenged patient. See this movie for a Tour De France of acting!!!
Father Knows Best.......2007-06-20
Interesting exploration of sexual roles giving new meaning the Oepidus complex. Huffman deserved the Oscar!
The Ebbs And Tides Of Human Suffering.......2007-06-13
Transamerica is a riveting and absorbent masterpiece about a man in the final process of transforming himself into a woman, whose dynamic transformation is hindered by the appearance of a son he never knew he had.
Bree, magnificently flesh-out by by actress Felicity Huffman, lives a low-income, alienated, monotone, barely endurable life, maintained only by the desire to have an impending surgery that will release him from the constraints of masculinity that have suffocated his true self.
Shattering through Bree's alienation is a 17- year old son he never knew he had.
The son is Toby, whom is jarringly and gruelingly portrayed by Kevin Zegers, who transcendently conveys Toby's physical and emotional abuse, incorruptible suffering, radiant purity, abandonment, torment, wreckage, galvanization, sexual demoralization, ravishment, brutalization, subversion, and desperate desire to be loved and understood.
Toby effortlessly exhibits externally what Bree agonizingly suffers internally.
As Bree travels with Toby to California to have his surgery, their personalities oxymoronically clash and intertwine and meld together as they individually grapple with their unrealized furnace of dreams and desires that tormentingly shame them while simultaneously give them a reason to continue living.
Zegers and Huffman's performances - like Charlize Theron in Monster and Ben Kingsley in House Of Sand And Fog - are transcendent and off the charts, exquisite, idiosyncratic, outstanding, unprecedented, and unparalleled in modern film history.
Brilliantly supporting and balancing their breathtaking and painstaking performances are actor Graham Greene and actress Fionnula Flanagan, Flanagan giving the best performances of her career.
Duncan Tucker's seamless writing and direction, Eve Battaglia's perfect casting, and a magnanimous acting feast have fashioned a film about the ebbs and flows of human suffering.
Provocative yet accessible and open-hearted indie fare.......2007-06-05
Good movie. I liked the intelligent decision to make Felicity Huffman's Bree character have to confront another big issue- the sudden emergence of an unknown son- in addition to the huge issue of her final transformation from man to woman. But, on top of that, I really liked that the movie gave us a lot of variety just within the personality of Bree herself. She displayed all kinds of interests throughout the movie, including earth history (she tells her son about the dinosaurs that used to roam around in the area their car was traversing) and proper usage of the English language. On this latter point, she was a bit annoying- with her constant correcting of her son's grammar- but that gave her character further nuance, too.
I also liked the naturalistic feel of the movie. It must have been tempting to include more "big" moments when it was time for a confrontation, revelation, or resolution, but the movie mostly goes for a more realistic feel, where it's clear that life goes on and there will still be positive and negative things to deal with even after a life-changing development or catharis.
The DVD includes a nice selection of extras, including a pair of interviews where the director chats with his stars. Though mostly containing mutual praise for everyone's efforts, the interviews contain several nuggets of insight about what the director and actors tried to accomplish.
As I said, good movie. Also a good DVD.
Acceptance won out in the end.......2007-05-27
Love the transsexual, hate the pedophile, and feel sorry for the poor street hustler. My goodness how misdirected the modern gay freedom movement continues from that fateful night back in the summer of 1969. That was the summer the underage street hustlers with the support of the pedophiles who loved them rioted against the police at their New York City bar called the "Stonewall Inn".
Shame on you Duncan Tucker.
Otherwise, wow what a film. The whitecap gale blew above while below the muddy stew of love held all the main characters together. Acceptance won out in the end. We all keep hoping don't we?
Anyone who is trying to figure out how to love a teenage boy should watch this movie.
Transamerica came to my attention because of a remark Elton John made about the actor Kevin Zegers at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Elton thinks Zegers is destined to become one of our great actors. He thinks Zegers showed how intense he can be in "Transamerica". Rent it or buy it, view it soon.

--Tom Keogh

A joy!.......2007-05-18
What a splendid film! The acting and actors are all wonderful, the script is an absolute hoot, the filming is brilliant, and the one-liners come faster than you can say 'Groucho Marx.' Highly recommended!!
Addams did it right!.......2007-02-12
A great version of the Addams Family. Wonderful cast and great sets. A definite for an Adams collector.
death, coffin, black rose and humour - perfect.......2007-01-22
Just amazing movie for all the times. Can watch for many times and still you wanna watch more and more of it.
Anjelica Huston and Paul Julia are pale example of perfect eternal unusual, amazing, inimitable love. Christina Ricci is a perfect daughter - cold-livered deadly beauty. All actors match perfect and create "one big happy family"
Everything that have to be dead - will be alive in this movie, everything that have to be alive will be dead with a smile on it's face.
Very well done!.......2006-12-15
Usually when these old television shows (that really weren't all that great)are made in full length movies (most of which aren't that good)usually miss the mark. Not this one, maybe its the superb cast Raul, Jessica and the rest, maybe the director really had some affection for the old tv series and stuck pretty much to the original feel of the show. I really enjoyed this, you might too.
Great Movie!.......2006-10-25
After so many years, "The Addams Family" is still one of the best comedies of all time. You can't watch this movie and not laugh, there are so many things are that just really that funny. The stunts and effects of the film are amazing. From small things like the fire on the candle painting of Uncle Fester going out to Thing walking around, this movie is really a feast for the eyes and was ahead of it's time in many areas.
Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston made this movie really work because their chemistry works so well on screen. You can see the character's emotions brilliantly portrayed by these two talanted actors. But not forgetting the rest, Christopher Lloyd was made a great Fester. This is a movie that has to be seen if you haven't.

DON'T EVEN BOTHER.......2007-06-19
THIS MOVIE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO ADAMS FAMILY TV SHOW. NO STYLE JUST
A BUNCH OF KNOCK OFF FROM THE ORIGIN GREAT SHOW. UTTER BLAH.
Even Funnier than the first one.......2007-06-04
We watch this movie every year on Halloween while we give out candy.
VERY FUNNY.......2007-05-20
This movie is GREAT!!!
I laugh so hard everytime I watch it!
The Thanksgiving scenes are some of my favorites!
Biting satire!.......2007-05-18
Probably one of the most satirical, brilliant and funny commentaries on the American family that has ever been produced! Excellent acting, timing is superb, and the lines come fast and furious! This is a 'must have' in your collection!
Better Then The First Because...........2007-04-19
I actually liked this movie better then the first one, simply because Christina Ricci's portrayal of Wednesday went from wonderful to brilliant. Slightly older, Ricci further developed her character and projected pure evil. I thought she "stole the show".
In addition, I liked the actress who portrayed "Grandmama" better then the previous one. Like Wednesday, she turned up the "evil meter". She just seemed to fit in better.
Addams Family Values has to be watched a number of times to catch all the funny little phrases and one liners. Brilliant writing combines with great characterizations to produce a movie to delight those who love dark humor.
Payback time at the camp was simply delicious. As a child, I would have found a lot in common with Wednesday's attitude towards the whole camping experience, with its fake facade of peace, love and all that BS. It brought back a lot of my own feelings as a youngster who was a bit out of the ordinary and often mocked because of it. Go Wednesday!
Usually sequels fall short of the original, but this one, IMO, went beyond the first film for comedy and originality. No fan of the Addams family, and especially Wednesday, should miss adding this gem to his/her DVD collection.
And I wish to add a big postumous thank you to Charles Addams himself, whose dark sense of humor and brilliant artwork produced this deliciously gothic family in the first place. I'm sure he would be pleased as punch at these fine portrayals of his ghoulish creations.
