Comedy Central's jittery, apoplectic commentator on all things absurd in politics and culture is superb on this disc's collection of four half-hour cable specials and bonus features. Fans and newcomers get a chance to see how much the comic has grown since his delightful 1998 show, in which Black characteristically sputtered this bit of social-scientific criticism: "It's absolutely stupid that we've lost the ozone layer. We've got men, rockets, Saran Wrap--fix it!" Black attacks Bill Clinton for obscuring the meaning of infidelity ("If curling is an Olympic sport, oral sex is adultery!"), Y2K hype, flu shots, America's power elite, Ross Perot ("He's the kid in Deliverance all growed-up!"), and even delivers a "Taxes 101" college lecture ("What would help IRS forms? Verbs!"). Bonus features include Black's "Indecision 2000" inserts--caustic commentary about the last Republican and Democrat conventions--for Jon Stewart's show. It is nice to see a comedian that can take on politics with a balanced view. Making fun of both parties without being dragged down into partisanism himself.

I just watched this DVD again (for the thousandth time)on Christmas Day-this time with my family, and we were all laughing like hyenas by the time the disc was over. This guy is a scream. He can pinpoint and exploit the ridiculous humor in even the most ordinary situations. He's jittery, twitchy, crazed and absolutely hysterical. They say Italians talk with their hands - well if someone tied Lewis' forefingers down, his head might explode! The best part is that when he starts on one of his hyper rants, you can't help but laugh because everything he says IS TRUE! The shows on "Unleashed" are a few of his older {1998-2003} Comedy Central Specials, but they're still as funny as can be. He takes on politics with obvious pleasure, and his bit about Bill Clinton's infamous testimony of his Presidential 'sexual misconduct' with Monica Lewinski in the first segment is to die for. He goes on to tackle subjects like The International House of Pancakes, education, Y2K, Starbucks, drinking, Life in New York, an article from an Arkansas newspaper and the classicly hysterical "...If it weren't for my horse -" bit. Trust me, this is a DVD you don't want to miss. The first 3 segments from the Comedy Central archives are family friendly (with Lewis' trademark explatives under control) so sit back and enjoy this with your pals.

This is the first time I have gone to the trouble to review a product from Amazon and I have bought a lot of material here. Lewis Black expresses all the bipartisan frustration I feel over today's politics and gives me a chance to laugh about it. I don't care what side of this endless game our government plays that you cheer for (or bash), Black will have you nodding your head in agreement. I can't believe I only discovered this talented man a few months ago. I recommend anything he puts out. Be prepared for adult language.

Lewis Black is one of Americas funniest comedians, and his views on politics, and life in general make his form of comedy one of the best types seen today. I enjoyed all of the material, it was fresh, and it hits home, and that's what makes it funny. The funniest things are things that are true, you can't make those types of things up. Lewis Black Unleashed is money well spent. now if Lewis would only come out to the West Coast more I would enjoy seeing him live.
