Could a title be any more direct? New Zealand maverick Peter Jackson made a splash (well, more of a splatter) with this film debut, a slapstick gross-out comedy about an alien fast-food franchise that turns a small town into a cheap source of meat. All that stands in the extraterrestrials' way is the Alien Investigation Defense Service (yes, it's a tasteless gag), a bunch of would-be Rambos who take on the aliens with axes, rocket launchers, and chainsaws. Jackson mines vomit jokes, dismembered corpses, and brain-spattering gore for over-the-top laughs and succeeds with inventive low-budget effects, crack timing, and sheer exuberance. Not bad for a film made on weekends with homemade props and a bunch of energetic mates. Jackson topped himself a few years later with the even more outrageous and hilarious bloody gut-buster Dead Alive.

The limited-edition two-disc set also includes the documentary featurette "Good Taste Made Bad Taste," a revealing "making of" shot at the time of production and featuring behind-the-scenes footage of Jackson's home-made special effects, and a 16-page booklet with cast interviews. --Sean Axmaker

        Product Description

4 Hilarious Cult Movies About Rednecks!*** INBRED REDNECKS Get ready for a cockfightin, beer-drinkin, ass-whoopin good time! This outrageous comedy is the winner of three individual awards, including Hollywood Onlines Top Underground Film of 1998! Billy Bob, Clovis and Bubba have a dream: to strike it rich cockfighting their enormous rooster, cleverly named Bigass Rooster, across North Carolina and Tennessee. But when they defeat the villainous Monty, the enraged redneck and his bumbling thugs decide to steal Bigass, earning some quick dough and beloved revenge at once. 2001 135 minutes Color SUPER BADASS Super Badass, a self-destructive bounty hunter battles crime in the big city against a band of demented surrealistic villains as never before seen in the history of cinema. Filmmaker Charles E. Cullen takes audiences into an ultra-violent world filled with action, gunplay, and dark humor. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart. 2003 72 minutes Color CORNMAN A laughable loser stumbles into a bucket of toxic waste in a cornfield and gains the ability to communicate with corn. He obtains the sidekicks and spandex necessary to become a superhero and vows to protect the corn from the evil villain Dr. Hoe. This one-armed-hoe-bad-guy enlists the aid of a giant mutant-hybrid-freak and several crappy foot soldiers in an attempt to dominate ALL THE CORN IN THE WORLD! 2001 70 minutes Color DOGS IN QUICKSAND Dogs in Quicksand is a quirky, off-beat tale of sex and betrayal in a rural farming community and the comic chain of events that occur after one of the towns residents is found murdered. Through the structure of a b-movie who-done-it, Dogs in Quicksand mixes elements of black humor together with farce and wild comedy to poke fun at small town gossip and rural community living. The result is a roller coaster ride full of devious fun and non-stop surprises from beginning to end. 1999 90 minutes Color
