    I picked this film up as a free rental no expecting much. This is a really funny movie. Ray Ramano, Hank Azaria, Zooey Deschanel, Kelly Preston, and Rip Torn amongst others are the line up for this comedy of a dysfunctional family, which chest gets more and more dysfuctional as the film goes on. But again, in the end, they are all family. Very funny and interesting, worth a rent or purchasing, either way, a really overlooked gem.

    Nothing original here. Nothing overly humourous. Overall pretty bland in my opinion. The only part I thought was really worth watching was when the casket exploded at the end.

    I rented this movie tonight, having vaguely remembered the trailer from 2003. The synopsis on the box was intriguing enough, although I realized the potential for a hackneyed portrayal of an all-too-common family comedy theme. I was hoping for a cleverly-written dark dramedy along the lines of a Charlie Kaufman or Wes Anderson film. What I experienced was a trite presentation of your textbook dysfunctional family.

    The film had its moments, but those moments were far too rare. There was little in the way of character development; in fact, the character who experienced the most development was the dead one. As screwed up as this family is, I felt no sympathy for any of the characters, and I couldn't bring myself to care about their lives even a little bit. Even the big revelation at the burial service, perhaps the most interesting moment in the film, was somewhat of a ho-hum moment.

    I really had high hopes for this one, but in the end it just fell flat for me.

    This movie, with a stellar cast and a oft-used plot (dysfunctional family reuniting for a funeral), was one of those movies where you are laughing while you say "oh that is just wrong!" Four adult children of a traveling salesman come together with their various children and significant others gather at their grieving mother's house, and clash in various ways. Zooey Deschanel is the main character, a college student trying to write a Eulogy for her grandfather, when she is apparently the only one in her family with pleasant memories of him. Everyone is so busy with their own problems that the fact their father/grandfather has died gets lost in the mix.

    There are great bizarre moments, some hilarious one-liners and a few surprisingly touching moments (but just a few). This movie kept me laughing and I highly recommend it. It'll make your family look normal.

      This was a huge disappointment. Messy editing, hardly understandable and/or audible interviews conducted by a someone with a handycam. Without any external microphones or additional lightning. The liveclips are of cellphone quality. All in all the quality of the whole production is really unbelivabely bad. Probably only enjoyable for the cast and a huge dissappointment for any fan.

      I saw a promotional copy of the project. a great piece, all the orignal members speak on the truth of Death Row. This doc has a reality feel but the film makers have great controlled interviews. Snoop is in the doc for about half an hour, a lot docs only have the featured cats in them for a second, not this one. Daz was being Daz, funny and talking junk on Suge and Krupt. I don't want to give it away but a lot people will be surprised at what Tray Dee said about Snoop before he went to jail. Finally a guy on camera talking about how Dr.Dre jacked his beat. For any fans that enjoyed "Pimps Up Hoes Down" or "An American Pimp" there's is a 20 minute segment with Big Pimpin and Lil Pimpin that is funny and real to the core about pimpin and Hip Hop. Hopefully Daz can continue putting stuff like this out instead of the other trash he's put out. This will be a huge hit amongst all Hip Hop fans. After watching this you get great understanding how great of producer Daz is.

        "The Career of Nikos Dyzma" (2002) is a comedy about an undertaker/eulogizer (as played by Cezary Pazura, who also stars in "Tato," "Sara," and "Happy New York") whose life takes a dramatic turn when he signs for the mail of a deceased politician. The letter he signed for is an invitation to a party for wealthy and powerful figures. At the party, Nikos puts the Vice-Premier in his place after he bumped into Nikos, knocking over his salad. This action gains him the respect and admiration of the room, as the Vice-Premier was not well liked -- opening the way for Nikos into the world of politics.

        The wives of the politicians are all interested in Nikos as their husbands are all much older and impotent. Gaining the liking of the politicians' wives only provides Nikos with valuable political information and the power of the wives to influence their husbands.

        A reoccurring political comment that Nikos makes in the film is for the people to buy and use Polish made products, despite lower costing imports, so that their own people will have jobs. The working people see the truth in this idea and look favorably upon Nikos for supporting them. Nikos also gave great eulogies, a skill he now uses for political speeches that move the people.

        "The Career of Nikos Dyzma" is directed by Jacek Bromski. The film is in Polish, but has optional English subtitles. Special features include the trailer, bios, photo gallery, and a short piece on the making of the film (spoken in Polish with no subtitle option). This 105 minute film has several popular Polish actors, such as Anna Przybylska (who stared in "Sucker Season" and "Superprodukcja") and Katarzyna Figura (who stared in "Zemsta," "Happy New York," and "Pianist"). The Career of Nikos Dyzma" would easily get an "R rating" by American standards for nudity.

        "The Career of Nikos Dyzma" (2002) is a comedy about an undertaker/eulogizer (as played by Cezary Pazura, who also stars in "Tato," "Sara," and "Happy New York") whose life takes a dramatic turn when he signs for the mail of a deceased politician. The letter he signed for is an invitation to a party for wealthy and powerful figures. At the party, Nikos puts the Vice-Premier in his place after he bumped into Nikos, knocking over his salad. This action gains him the respect and admiration of the room, as the Vice-Premier was not well liked -- opening the way for Nikos into the world of politics.

        The wives of the politicians are all interested in Nikos as their husbands are all much older and impotent. Gaining the liking of the politicians' wives only provides Nikos with valuable political information and the power of the wives to influence their husbands.

        A reoccurring political comment that Nikos makes in the film is for the people to buy and use Polish made products, despite lower costing imports, so that their own people will have jobs. The working people see the truth in this idea and look favorably upon Nikos for supporting them. Nikos also gave great eulogies, a skill he now uses for political speeches that move the people.

        "The Career of Nikos Dyzma" is directed by Jacek Bromski. The film is in Polish, but has optional English subtitles. Special features include the trailer, bios, photo gallery, and a short piece on the making of the film (spoken in Polish with no subtitle option). This 105 minute film has several popular Polish actors, such as Anna Przyblska (who stared in "Sucker Season" and "Superprodukcja") and Katarzyna Figura (who stared in "Zemsta," "Happy New York," and "Pianist"). The Career of Nikos Dyzma" would easily get an "R rating" by American standards for nudity.
