Description
Peter Jackson's (Lord of the Rings) twisted take on a "Muppets" like puppet show. MEET THE FEEBLES, a puppet tragedy of gross proportions, relates the fateful events that lead to the infamous Feebles Variety Massacre - a day that rocked the puppet world! Bletch, a cigar chomping walrus has his hands full with his cast of egocentric show-biz stars. When you've got an incompetent panic-stricken fox as a director, a junkie knife throwing frog, and a hare with a fatal disease as MC, things do not look sunny. But Bletch's biggest problem is with his star and long time lover, Heidi the Hippo, who suspects that he is having an affair with a Siamese cat named Samantha.

5 out of 5 stars Hell Hath No Fury Like A Hippo With A Machine gun.......2007-06-27

If you have ever watched Lord of the Rings or King Kong, and wondered how Peter Jackson became the directing and producing genius he has become then you should definitely watch "Meet the Feebles." Loosely based on Jim Henson's Muppet Show, with a definitive adult vibe to the movie, this is one that kid's should definitely not watch. IMO, I like to call this one "The Muppet's on Acid"....Sorry Jim, but if it weren't for you we would not have the genius of a Rat making snuff films in the basement, a Rabbit with "the big one", and an BDSM elephant that has a love child with a chicken. But you always were far ahead of your time. If you watch this movie and love it definitely thank Peter Jackson for making it and Jim Henson for the template.

4 out of 5 stars Very well done, reverse Muppet show .......2007-04-30

and I suspect if this was done with real people it would have gotten X rating or at least a R. But since puppets don't have real genitalia it's not considered porn. Side splitting comedy, my only complaint is, I had a hard time following the snide remarks because the puppets all had heavy English accents. But still very funny and original, although somewhat dated. Enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars From the underbelly of the muppet world.........2007-02-27

comes a hilarios movie about the wayward world of muppets. This movie was absolutly hilarious, though not one Ill show my child it definately was worth buying .

4 out of 5 stars Sick and Twisted.......2007-01-20

If you enjoy South Park, or Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation, or just got sick of Jim Henson's muppets, then check out this sick puppy of a movie. Often described as "the Muppets on acid", this is a take-off on all those smarmy kiddie movies.

These puppets are nasty. They are greedy, venal, corrupt, dissolute characters. It's a film-noir, with all the worst human vices on display. Like Jackson's other movie Dead Alive, it combines humor and horror. This is midnight cinema at its best.

3 out of 5 stars Shock Value Will Take You A Long Way, But Only For So Long.......2006-10-26

I'm probably in the minority when it comes to a film like Peter Jackson's "Meet The Feebles." I actually saw this movie in a theater when it came out--long before "Lord of the Rings" made Jackson a household name. I own the DVD and have shown it to many people. I have also presented this film to several people as gifts. Who wouldn't want "Meet The Feebles" in their stocking come Christmastime? And while I am absolutely in love with the idea of this film--in truth, I'm more in love with it for the curiosity factor than with it's overall effectiveness as a movie.

I wanted very much to rate this as 5 stars. I'd really recommend it to anyone who is even remotely interested in it or has a taste for the sick, twisted, and/or avant garde. But, points for outrageousness aside--on a real merit scale, it comes in at about a 3. And mind you, I'm a big fan of this movie.

Obviously, what we've got here is a demented puppet show. We've got sex, drugs, pornos, VD, psychosis, violence--all the qualities that bring out the best in people. You have to laugh along, especially at the beginning, with the litany of absurdity. The purpose of the film is to shock and horrify you--and that it will, especially if you're not a demented sicko like me. But there's lots to laugh at and enjoy.

If the film were half as long (it's 97 minutes), I'd have gone 5 stars for it keeping up the insane momentum. However, at full length--it does get a bit repetitive. Shock value only takes you so far, and when you've set the bar so high at the beginning--things will eventually begin to lag. So while I respect and love this film on many levels, it just fails to sustain itself. Every time I watch it, I'm glad when it ends--but that doesn't mean I won't watch it again or pass it on to another unsuspecting soul to warp their fragile mind. KGHarris, 10/06.
