Classic teen comedy mixes with cunning satire in Saved!. Fervent Christian Mary (Jena Malone, Donnie Darko) believes God wants her to save her gay boyfriend by sleeping with him. But he gets sent to an anti-gay indoctrination camp while she ends up pregnant--which starts to drive a wedge between Mary and her snotty best friend Hilary Faye (Mandy Moore, How to Deal). Meanwhile, they're both interested in the son (Patrick Fugit, Almost Famous) of their Christian school principal (Martin Donovan, Trust). Saved! respects faith but gleefully mocks the excesses and absurdities of contemporary organized religion, particularly its suburban, let's-speak-the-language-of-the-kids manifestations. The actors, including Macaulay Culkin (yes, from Home Alone) and Mary Louise Parker (Fried Green Tomatoes), play their parts with sincerity, which makes the fusion of humor and heart succeed. A delightful movie. --Bret Fetzer

4 out of 5 stars Saved by the Bell.......2007-05-16

Good product. Love watching all of the episodes that I grew up on. The only problem is that the episodes are not in order. Some of the episodes can get confusing because they don't follow the original order. Other then that I love it.

4 out of 5 stars The Things That Come To Mind.......2007-03-09

Having seen the first two seasons, i was desperate to see what followed. This is an adictive show at the very least. Everynight i was "Just one episode, then sleep. Tomorrow i have to work!"... and then i watched 6 episodes in a row. You just kept wanting more.

I'm happy to say the show didn't go down after two seasons. Tt was the same amazingly funny show that you fell in love with (so many years ago). The order of the episodes was still a problem, specially with the story arc on the beach... but it was not going to prevent me from watching, neither i was going to spend my time trying to find what the correct order was! I just watched and watched!

The Third and fourth seasons keep the same structure of the last two, the same quality and fun you found before. The same errors and even a similar package, so if you liked the first set, you will love this.

One Thing we didn't have before where extras! We have some comentaries from some of the cast. We don't have Mark-Paul, Tiffany or Elizabeth so don't be too happy, but we do have some insight about what happened then, and that's always a good thing.

Anyway. I love this show, and will continue to watch it until i remember every single line. It was a pretty big part of my life 15 years ago, and i'm truly happy it's somethig right now.

5 out of 5 stars For Whom the BELL Tolls.......2006-09-29

I, like a lot of others, grew up on Saved by the Bell. It defined my Saturday mornings: this, along with The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I bought this season first because it had more of my favorite episodes on it.

This show isn't just a sitcom. It is a cult classic. They were able to make the show appealing for both young kids and adults.

As I watch Saved by the Bell as an adult, I pick up on some disturbing things that eluded me before: one, the gang is really mean to the nerds ("school intellectuals"), or anyone who doesn't fit their "cool" status. It reminds me of real-life school cliques and elitists who ostracize the unpopular kids. These kids grow up to become mass murderers much of the time. Better watch out! You might be on somebody's "list." The Saved by the Bell clique were basically good people, but boy did they have their moments of cruelty and deviousness.

One other complaint I have is with the breakdown of the episodes. This is more of NBC's fault than it is Lions Gate. Even though the gang was in high school for four years, which is the normal number, NBC didn't have the seasons break down into a clear cut four seasons. This is why there is a confusing FIVE seasons.

My Top Five Favorite Episodes From The Collection
1. Last Dance (where Zack and Kelly breakup)
2. All in the Mall (U2 tickets)
3. Date Auction (Zack tries to avoid overweight date)
4. Cut Day (Zack outwitting Mr. Belding by leaving school)
5. Wicked Stepbrother 1&2 (Jessie's stepbrother wreaks havoc)

Product Description

Good girl Mary (Jena Malone) and her best friend Hilary Faye (Mandy Moore) are at the top of the food chain at American Eagle Christian High School. But all that is about to change in this "subversively funny" (USA Today) teen comedy about hype, hypocrisy and high school. Also starring Macaulay Culkin and Patrick Fugit, Saved! is "a boldly hilarious satire" (Rolling Stone)!

5 out of 5 stars Such a riot!.......2007-06-26

This movie has moments of mockery but at the end, it's a story about accepting others no matter who they are.

.. and nothing beats the scene where Mandy Moore's character throws a Bible.

2 out of 5 stars Unfair portrait of evangelical Christendom.......2007-06-15

Like other reviewers, I also attended a Baptist, evangelical Christian academy from kindergarten through 12th grade. My experience was nothing like that portrayed in this movie, which pushes its polemic with exaggerated characters who exhibit every stereotype of evangelicals that one can imagine. Of course, there are certainly hypocrites in such schools and churches, as every Christian can attest, but exceptions do not make the rule nor justify the message this movie intends to make.

The story involves a girl who gets pregnant because she had sex with her boyfriend (with same-sex attraction) to make him straight. Her reason: Jesus told her to do it in order to help him. The boy is cast aside by his parents, and the girl, for fear of the same, hides her pregnancy from her classmates and mom (who, by the way, is having an affair with the pastor). The girl's close friend, Mandy Moore's character, is the quintessential evangelical stereotype -- self-righteous, condemnatory, fanatical, etc. The "bad girl" at the school and a handicap boy are the only ones who reach out to the pregnant girl (as does, eventually, the pastor's son, but only after essentially losing his faith). By the end of the movie, all the characters have lost their evangelical faith and embraced a warm, fuzzy sort of universalism/unitarianism where God affirms all of our diversity. Of course, there is some good in that (aside from the issue of homosexuality, which is more than a simple matter of either being born that way or choosing it) insofar as we are all broken and have no right to condemn others as if we are righteous before God on our own merit. Evangelicals do immense work in reaching out to pregnant teenagers (e.g., Jerry Falwell's crisis pregnancy center and maternity house), in addition to numerous other ministries (whether it be to the third world poor or the prisons of America). As well, "conservatives" have been found to give more and do more charitable work than "liberals" (see the book, 'Who Really Cares,' by Arthur Brooks). Of course, that would not be the impression gained from this movie. I appreciate the movie's intent to criticize blatant hypocrisy, but the full-scale attack on traditional Christianity is unfounded and only serves to foster stereotypes.

1 out of 5 stars WHAT A JERK!.......2007-06-10

I saw the film and was not impressed. I attended a Christian School and have spoken at a few. If the writers, actors etc; took the time to "attend" Church, atleast to do research, they would realize that the language and actions by the main characters are completely exaggerated, unreal and over-the-top. It's hard to believe that a writer for this drivel attended a Christian School for any period of time - maybe he just peeked his head in one afternoon...impressive!

Anyone who says this is NOT a rip on Christianity must be on Crack. The scene where the Pastor is reading the Christmas Story and the main character is thinking to herself that perhaps Mary was not a Virgin meaning she lied about it. C'mon folks. The Virgin Birth is a basic, central belief of Christianity...this is a duh. > Biblical/historical retardation knows no bounds, the proof is the over 250 people that have reviewed this film and liked it.

Perhaps the saddest epilogue to this travesty is the promotion of the Mandy Moore film "A Walk to Remember" by Salem Christian Radio stations around the U.S. during the 2001/2002 film season. Then the slimeball (Moore) turns around and does this. What a Jerk!

5 out of 5 stars Great caricature of all that's wrong with Christianity, fortunately not all Christians are like this........2007-06-09

I laughed a lot at this movie and its biting critique of Christianity, although it was a chuckle mixed with bitterness. The film really exaggerates a lot of the faith's -usually- more subtle cultural idiosyncrasies, especially Christians' attempt at mimicking popular culture but with a spiritual angle... and failing miserably. Of particular amusement was when some of the main character's friends try to exorcise her because she is asking legitimate, but serious questions about God. The movie's Christian community perceives and labels these honest questions as the work of the devil etc. Yet the "leaders" of the community themselves embody almost everything wrong with Christianity: hypocrisy, superficial relationships, refusal to ask real questions, insensitive, judgmental and just plain ignorant.
If you are a Christian and find the movie too offensive, then maybe it should serve as a wake-up call. Like it or not, this movie reflects how much of our culture views Christians. Fortunately, most people have a high degree of respect for Jesus; it's his followers that mess it up more often than not. We should take note of that. But kudos to the Christian viewers of this movie who find themselves thinking, "that's NOT what being a Christian is about." And even more kudos to those believers motivated to change the underlying causes for this caricature of their faith.
Christians could (and should) be known for their authenticity, love and forgiveness, and not for all of the hate, judgmental attitudes and hypocrisy they are usually identified with. This film capitalizes on the distance between the ideal and the all too often reality of the modern faithful. Whatever you believe (or don't believe) this movie is very entertaining and worth taking the time for at least once. Just don't judge God by the behavior of his people (whether in the movie or in real life).

5 out of 5 stars Put your hand on the TV screen and be saved!.......2007-05-15

Praise Jesus! Mandy Moore is just too naughty as a ridiculously religious bigot in this smart look at high school life in the holy lane. It's right up there with "Dogma," only this movie is much less graphic and cynical than Ben and Matt are in their visit with Silent Bob and Jay. Macualay Culkin should stay in a wheel chair--his performance is right on target as he deals with his holier-than-thou sister. You'll need an open mind...if you are a born again Christian, you'll probably be insulted, so move on and find a Joel Olsten tape instead.

As high school comedies for young viewers go, Saved by the Bell is as light as they come, yet there is something unusually addictive about it. No doubt that's because the series, set at Bayside High School in Pacific Palisades, California, balances fluffy stories with evolving relationships. It's no chore to watch every episode in this Saved by the Bell: Seasons 1 & 2 boxed set and feel satisfied with the touching, admirable growth and affection between key characters.

The show concerns teenager Zack Morris (Mark Paul Gosselaar) and his eclectic group of friends. Zack himself is a complicated fellow: he's a vain hound for the girls and a screw-up who sets attendance records for detention. But as the series progresses, he also demonstrates that he's a thoughtful kid, underneath it all, with insight and loyalty to others. Tiffani-Amber Thiessen plays Kelly Kapowski, a cheerleader and mall rat who gains seriousness of purpose and dignity over time, and who ends a rivalry between Zack and good-natured sexist jock A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez) by choosing the former--after he cleans up his act a bit. Jessie Murtle Spano (Elizabeth Berkley) may be the most interesting character: smart and given to alternative-lifestyle values, an unabashed feminist yet self-conscious about her height. (She towers over most boys interested in her). Samuel "Screech" Powers (Dustin Diamond) is the show's token nerd, but he defies the stereotype in many ways: In "Dancing to the Max," Kelly develops a crush on Screech after he tutors her in science, while in other episodes he wins a beauty contest and comes to the heroic aid of a chum more than once. What's nice about Saved by the Bell is the way these sundry friends all get to know and accept each other, creating unexpected bonds and encouraging honest support when the chips are down. Highlights include "The Election," in which Zack, typically, runs for class president against Jessie on a lark, then has to face real responsibility when he wins. In "The Prom," Kelly gives up her dream of attending the school prom after her dad loses his job; she's rewarded with Zack's own sacrifice to make sure she's not alone. --Tom Keogh

4 out of 5 stars The Things That You Remember.......2007-03-09

It's Amazing how you remember a show after such a long time. Here in Peru Saved by the Bell started in 1992 or 1993, i don't remember well, but i do remember being in love with this show. And i was like, what, 7 or 8 at the time? Like most american pubers or teenagers from 1989-94, this show marked our generation. I remember the names very well... who doesn't remember Zack Morris?! Anyway, it was actually my brother who bought the dvd sets (he's older, so he has a better memory about this than me) and i was really oblivious at first. I thought it would be rather boring or dull, but i was delightfully surprised to find out it was really, really funny. Like someone once said to me, it's the teenager version of Friends. The characters al lovable, they work together really well, and the show does its teaching form justice without being to preachy about it. I love the way they could make a realistic and funny yet "educational" show. Tt is truly one of a kind.

The first season introduces us to the gang. Being all of them so different allows the series to show diferent kind of situations, although the always seem to follow the same structure: Zack has a "plan", everybody finds out, then they make another "plan" that makes him feel sorry and everybody is happy at the end. You will notice this trend eventually, but it won't bother you because it's really well executed. The magnet of the show has always been Zack. For girls it was an obvious reason, and for guys it was like "i wanna be like him" kind of thing.

The DVDs each contain 8 or more episodes, depending on the season. Video is normal, this show is from 18 years ago, and the sound it's good, though not something to be proud of. (what do you spect from a sitcom anyway?)

One thing that we can complaint about its the order of the episodes. I don't really know if they were broadcasted like this the first time through, but this is a complete desorder. And i'm really sorry to say that it is actually worst in the other two sets. One episode you see kelly and Zack together, and the next it's back to the competition between him and slater. The story that suffers the most it's the relationship between jesse and slater. You will know when it begins, but you won't be sure of where it ends.

This isn't a total fault on the DVD sets. The show wasn't exactly an example of continuity, and there is one episode in season five that could've set up things for amazing situations.. they just made it as if never happened. And that's... well, bad.

But this are just minor things compared to the amount of fun this show is. I watched the whole set in less than a week... and i also went to work! You will not be sorry that you bought it, you will not be sorry to have seen it. Believe me.

5 out of 5 stars saved by the dvd.......2006-10-22

People don't want to admit it, but Saved By the Bell is a very good and addictive show. Sure, people constantly call the show cheesy or silly, but the reality is, these are the same people who like the show. Why? Because the show is a lot of fun and the characters of Zack, Screech and the Principal are REALLY funny! The show delivers interesting stories about the students at Bayside High School. That's the best thing about the show- every episode is a new adventure. You will be glued to it, believe me.

The DVD set is really good because now you can watch the first two seasons all over again, any time you want. A must buy.

5 out of 5 stars Saved by the bell.......2006-09-18

is a must-have for your DVD collection. Who hasn't watched this? I remember coming home from school and turning on the television just to watch this. I loved Zach Morris. LOL! And Screech.... that's just classic. Zach is always getting into trouble and trying to worm his way out of it. Sometimes if not all the time, pulling Screech along with him. Who can forget the beauty Kelly Kapowski? The fave among competing Zach and AC Slater.

4 out of 5 stars Classic.......2006-09-11

This is a classic 90s tv show that I adored when I was growing up. It is a good funny show with simple characters who get away with murder at bayside and I love it. I do agree with the other viewer that I did think it owuld have Miss bliss etc

1 out of 5 stars AAIIIEEEE!!! RUN AWAY!!! RUN AWAAAAY!!!.......2006-07-04

Good God this show is awful. It pains me to think that quite a few of the teenagers of the time--a demographic to which I belonged, sadly--actually tuned in to this bilge. Each eppie was a tragic string of unfunny gags, each scene even more unbearable than the last. But then, I've watched and enjoyed more than a few gawdawful shows in my time. Only thing is, I found those gawdawful shows entertaining in a cheeseball way; I NEVER found myself entertained by "Saved by the Bell." Well, actually the eppie featuring Screech winning the high school beauty pageant was almost bearable. Otherwise, I found myself wanting to rip my eyes out every time I was over at my best friend's house.

Ya see, my best friend was addicted to the show... which he always seemed to have on the tube whenever I paid him a visit. Sometimes I'd sit with him and watch his mind turn to mush as he witnessed the lame antics of Zack, Screech, and... what's-her-name who did the hilariously awful "Showgirls." That is the only thing I find funny about the show, really--that one of the stars pretty much blew up her movie career before it really began. And what a spectacular explosion it was! But don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00020X88O)!

Well, actually Dustin "Screech" Diamond's recent monetary troubles (help the guy out by gettin' yer d-shirts at www.getdshirts.com) as well as his, er, legendary endowment and how he considers it "a curse." Some freakin' curse THAT is. Like the tragically under-endowed Howard Stern stated sarcastically when he heard about it: "WAAAAHHH, my (you-know-what) is too big!"

Hey, now that I think of it, they shoulda used Dustin instead of Kyle MacLachlan opposite his former "classmate" in "Showgirls"! Oh man, that woulda made that gawdawful flick even more unintentionally funny than it already is!

Eh hee hee hee hee... see, I'm laughin' already!

Bottom line: if you've any dignity or self-respect whatsoever--or you can't afford to lose any more brain cells-- you'll do well to steer clear of this low point in the history of trash TV. Get yourself some decent crappy shows on DVD to watch, like "Knight Rider" (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005JLG4) or "The A-Team." (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005JN80)

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to organize a much-needed intervention for a good friend...

Anybody who is a fan of the original series has been waiting for this release. Finally, we can own all the SBTB,almost. It should be noted that the Hawaian movie was actually the last thing filmed with the original cast before the Tori episodes of season five. This is a great little escape when you're feeling down and out in the real world. And at last, for those who got the College Years box can finally endcap the series with Wedding in Las Vegas, as the gang has some hijinks in the city that never sleeps and finally we see Zack and Kelly get hitched. Even Jessie and Belding show up! Now if only Liongate would release thoe Junior year episodes with Miss Bliss...hint hint.

4 out of 5 stars Tori and Lisa don't have much flavor as Jessi and Kelly.......2007-06-18

There are some episodes in the 5th season that only include Lisa and Tori, that replaces Jessi and Kelly and I hated those episodes! Tori is kind of tough and Lisa is fashionable. Kelly and Jessi added some more "flavor" into the show and act in a way that I at least can connect to. The show is entertaining but not as much as it had been through seasons 1-4 because without Jessi and Kelly the show seems incomplete. I know that Kelly and Jessi are in some of the episodes but it seems that it's not often enough.

5 out of 5 stars The "Tory episodes" .......2007-04-04

Ahhh. The infamous Season 5 of Saved by the Bell. This season really shouldn't exist considering normal people are only in high school 4 years. If the seasons had neatly been broken up based on years in high school, nobody would have been confused.

The Season 5 episodes contain the "Tory episodes" and all of their senior year. The Tory episodes were done after the show had ended and the women who play Jessie and Kelly had already left the show to do other things. NBC wanted more episodes, so they had to find someone new to fill in for the 2 missing actresses. I think that it would have been more logical to continue it with just the remaining cast while finding an appropriate way to explain the absences of Jessie and Kelly rather than just pretending they no longer existed.

But, as far as plot is concerned, the episodes with Tory are more interesting. I like Leanna Creel as Tory a lot more than I did when I was younger. It's probably because she reminds me of someone I know in real life. However, you can't fool with the classic lineup of the gang even as you see that Elizabeth Berkley's heart was no longer in it. You can tell because her acting is so much different than in previous seasons. She seems almost airheadish despite always being the studious and serious one.

There isn't much continuity in the episodes. Of course, there was never much in the past either.

One special treat is an episode on the Season 5 collection that was shot in the third season but not shown until the fifth season: the Snow White and the Seven Dorks episode where they do a rap version of the classic fairytale. It is hilarious.

5 out of 5 stars I am a MAJOR Saved By the Bell Fan.......2007-02-10

I am a MAJOR Saved By The Bell fan and I watch these episodes over and over and over again. Can't get enough of AC Slater.

5 out of 5 stars Could not find this anywhere -- Amazon wins again!.......2007-01-10

Had to have this for my son-in-law -- Amazon wins again! Thanks...

3 out of 5 stars They are really out of order.......2006-12-18

I was watched the entire DVd and I noticed that One episode would have Tori in it and the very next would have Kelly. Like the episode right after "the new girl" featured Kelly. O_o. Or like one episode is the one where Zack and Lisa kiss and the next episode Zack has a crush on Tori and doesn't know how to tell her....I'm finally on episode 21 and it's "The best summer ever" where Zack is off the first day of school and they reminince about the Summer vacation (season 4 I think). So yeah episode 1 is actually episode 21 on this DVD. I wonder why they moved them out of order like that. oh well. It kinda takes away from watching the DVD but not tooo much.

4 out of 5 stars Great Season but whats up with cliff hanger.......2007-06-17

I loved this season of Saved by the bell there was the classic humor and wonderful romance but the season kinda leaves you hanging. I was excited that Zack and Kelly were getting married (sorry if I ruined that but you can tell by the episode titles)but we never get to see the wedding whats up with that. Aside from that, the DVD set was awesome it arrived very quickly and in perfect condition it is a must have for the saved by the bell fans.

5 out of 5 stars excellent.......2006-11-03

I enjoyed watching saved by the bell the college years on tv, and now to see it on dvd was great. I totally loved the show and wished that it would have been on air longer than the one season.

4 out of 5 stars Where is Miss Bliss???????!!!!!!!.......2006-09-02

Why can't they release the Miss Bliss episodes? Who wants to see the New Class? That was the stupidest idea. We want Miss Bliss and Zack's original dad and the original Slater what was that curly-haired guys name? Tifani amber thieson ruined this show that names sounds more like a porn star name.

5 out of 5 stars Saved by the bell the college years .......2006-08-01

Saved by the bell is a awsome tv show to watch!
its like going back to TNBC on Saturday mornings in the 90s!

4 out of 5 stars Saved By The Bell, The College Years - Season # 1.......2006-06-26

As good as this 1st Season of Saved By The Bell, The College Years happens to be, what bothers me is that the viewers are left hanging at the end of the 1st Season. Zack is going to ask Kelly to marry him and Kelly excepts Zacks marrage proposal and they get married. The only problem is that all of this and alot more occures within the 2nd Season, and they haven't yet come out with this one on to DVD, why not? I'm still awaiting for this one to come out on to DVD; Once the 2nd and Finial Season comes out, then I will have the entire Series of Saved By The Bell; begining with when they were in High School, and then moving onto College. Other then that, I consider this show to being very good as well as Educational, uplifting and well done, despite the fact that the Company making up these DVD Disks had elimanated a number of eposoides from the very begining of the series from when they were back in High School!

5 out of 5 stars The spark is back!.......2005-08-23

Saved by the Bell: "The New Class" is a wonderful spin-off series but the magic is truly back in Season 4. In the past three seasons it seemed as if the creators of the show hadn't managed to get together the perfect ensemble cast to match with the original but in Season 4 the cast is great! Rachel, Ryan, and Maria are joined by fellow students Katie and Eric plus a new addition to Bayside High School and Ryan's new stepbrother Nikki. Screech and Mr. Belding lead this cast into another exciting year at Bayside High school where the gang goes to Space Camp, saves the school's radio station, and competes in a dance contest for backstage passes to the MTV Video Music Awards. AC Slater even makes a special appearance in the finale as the gang remembers how great "The Max" was after it's accidentally burned down. If you loved the original series don't miss out on the fun that "the new class" has to offer!

5 out of 5 stars A "feel good" tale that's just right for Christmas.......2007-02-25

A.C. Gilbert couldn't stop the war, but he made sure the war didn't stop Christmas. When the War Department asks Gilbert to turn his toy factory into a munitions plant during World War I, he agrees ..... for awhile. When the government wants America to give up Christmas, he turns that thought around and goes back into the toy business while maintaining his government contracts at the same time.

Jason Alexander, provides a wonderful portrayal of A.C. Gilbert and proves he can move far beyond his annoying character from "Seinfeld." Kelly Rowan is perfect in the role of Mary, A.C.'s wife, and Ari Cohen is marvelous as Frank Gilbert, A.C.'s brother who becomes lost in the fighting "over there."

While not historically accurate in all the details, this film provides a nice glimpse into life in the early part of the 20th century. Scenery and costumes are beautifully done and seeing all the things made from A.C. Gilbert Erector Sets makes me wish that I still had mine.

It's a heartwarming, intelligent story - perfect for watching every Christmas.

4 out of 5 stars Last Season of the Show is Excellent-DVD has flaws.......2007-04-30

I was very glad to get this DVD set. I had always been a fan of Saved by the Bell the New Class ever since its debut in 1993. I used to watch it every Saturday morning. However, when I was in 9th grade I "found religion" (Judaism) and could no longer watch the program at the regular time because it was on the Sabbath. This caused me to miss all of the episodes of the last two seasons (and some of season 5).
I had actually forgotten about the series for awhile until around 2005 when I noticed DVDs available at Best Buy. I had heard this show being slammed (very unfairly, in my opinion) so much that it was quite a shock to see that DVDs were released. This rekindled my interest in the program (as did the release of the original series on DVD also got me reinterested in the original series) I may have bought several, but I was lucky that the library owned most of them. The only one it was missing were the last 2 seasons.
I had for a long time felt a suspiscion that I preferred the New Class over the original series. Rewatching several episodes on DVD, that belief was VERY MUCH confirmed. I tired quickly of watching the original series. I thought it was boring, stupid, and at times downright nasty, especially the way Screech was treated by his "friends."
The New Class was far more interesting. However, rather than talking about the show as a whole I will try to limit this review to this particular season.
New cast member Tony Dillon replaces Ryan in fine form. I always felt Ryan was one of the weaker characters anyway. By this point, the show adopted a 3-plot formula. There would be a plot involving Screech and Mr. Belding (humorous), a humorous plot among the students, and a serious plot involving the students. I usually do not enjoy when comedies get serious, but this show is definitely an exception. Particularly notable are Lindsey McKeon's performances, both in the sexual harrassment episode and in the episode where she gets addicted to pain killers. Both episodes blow away the trite "Jessie's Song" from the original series. Ashley Lyn Cafagna was also particularly good in dramatic performances, such as when she was going to leave school after losing in a swim tournament. All of the actors performed well. There were many episodes that were an excellent combination of comedy and drama. I also thought the last scene of "The X-Friends File" was quite moving, especially for what many see as a "silly sitcom." I did not like the fact that Screech's voice was so high, but other than that he was hilarious. Not a particularly good actor by any means, but VERY funny.
I do have some problems with the DVD packaging itself, however. First off, there is no closed captioning. This unforgivable. I don't even understand how that is legal. There also no bonus features of any kind. It would have been nice to have some sort of running commentary through an episode or two, or perhaps a short documentary.
The strangest thing, however, is the sequencing. The last episode of series is clearly the second last episode in the set. Also the episodes keep alternating between the school and elsewhere. This may have been how they were aired, and the show was never known for good continuity, but it seems they could have done a better job with the sequencing. All in all a decent set of great program.

2 out of 5 stars No "play all" feature.......2006-09-12

I own every saved by the bell disc set except New Class Season 2...This is the only season that doesn't have a "Play All episodes" feature...So you can only watch 1 episode at a time and then you have to select the next episode with the remote. This is a deal breaker for me as I watch it on my computer when I go to sleep. Such a trivial feature to be abandoned.

4 out of 5 stars The Last Season..........2006-07-31

It's good to have watched this show at least... for me, it's the best of the "New Class " series... In the middle of the laughs, there's a lot of problems that high school students face everyday, like drugs, cigars, first loves, breakups, jokes, deceptions... and friendships...

The set dindn't have any extras... :(

... and if you followed this series since the original cast been in the show, then maybe you'll cry in the last chapter of the show...

4 out of 5 stars Farewell to the New Class.......2006-01-02

Seasons 6 and 7 remind me a lot of season 2 in that they did not have a definitive male star on the show. Season 1 pushed the Scott character as the leading male character and Seasons 3-5 had Ryan Parker as their male star. These two seasons could not make up there minds on which male character to highlight as their star, much like season 2 in my opinion. Despite that these seasons had their fair share of memorable moments and did a fine job of closing out the series. I recommend this set to anyone who is a fan of any season of Saved by the Bell: The New Class.

1 out of 5 stars LET THIS BE THE END.......2005-10-29

Could this show have possibly had 7 seasons?! I honestly believe that if the show went for 60 more years, Dustin Diamond would still be a cast member. Spare yourself this terd and just buy the series with the original cast.
