Kate Hudson wrestles with unlikely motherhood in Raising Helen, a comedy directed with the smooth professionalism of Garry Marshall, the man who brought us such cinematic fairy tales as Pretty Woman and The Princess Diaries. Helen (Hudson, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) is an adorable hipster whose swift rise up the fashion industry ladder gets sideswiped when she finds herself responsible for raising three children, left in her care by the untimely death of one of her sisters. It's a standard frivolous-girl-grows-up story with an uneven script, but solidly performed by Hudson, John Corbett (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), ever-sexy Helen Mirren (Calendar Girls), and especially Joan Cusack (In and Out, Addams Family Values), who takes an obnoxious, uptight suburban mom and makes her the movie's emotional core. Doe I sound like Letterman??? ANyway Huffman shines as Lindsay and for attractiveness there is kate, ala Goldie's child!! Watch this and be entertained!!

It's sad kind of but if Huffman, who is the better actress, weren't so frumpy she would have had Husdon's role. Oh well...

This movie is exceptionally awesome! Joan Cusack is hilarious, along with star, Kate Hudson. What really struck me about this movie is that it hits all the right notes with exact timing. Definetly a movie you should see!

Raising Helen starring the always adorable and talented Kate Hudson is a wonderful comedy/drama. Directed by Garry Marshall, this heartfelt tale of a busy career-woman who unexpectedly has to take on the responsiblity of raising her recently deceased sister's three cute children. This movie is somewhat similiar to Baby Boom but Raising Helen is different in many ways. Some touching moments from Hudson and Joan Cusack. At times, this movie can seem a bit wishy-washy but by the first 15 minutes, you become totally sucked into the storyline. Raising Helen is a true winner.

I was at the Library the other day to pick up a book I had on hold. I always like to walk by the DVD section to see if there is anything good available. Hey, its a free DVD rental!

Well I saw Raising Helen and figured my wife would like to watch it. She really liked How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

I have to admit I really liked it. I was completely surprised. I just figured it would be a silly comedy. Who knew it would involve such tragedy. Maybe I'm just turning into a chick flick kind of guy, but I would recommend this movie for a "feel good" evening.
