Cheers to Fox for even putting Greg the Bunny on the air, and jeers to Fox for yanking it after a mere season (an ignominious fate it shared with The Ben Stiller Show and Andy Richter Controls the Universe). Ripe for discovery, this cult-worthy 2002 series took its cue from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and anticipated the subversive Tony Award-winning Muppet spoof Avenue Q by imagining a world in which puppets (or, to be more PC: "fabricated Americans") live amongst humans. Greg, a sweet-natured bunny, lives with his best friend Jimmy (Seth Green), a slacker whose father, Gil (the inestimable Eugene Levy), is the director of the "struggling," "low-rated" children's show Sweetknuckle Junction. Greg prevails upon Jimmy to get him a job on the show, but Greg inadvertently finds himself replacing the star. the washed-up Rochester Rabbit. Jimmy signs on as the production assistant to watch over Greg, and to pursue the icy network executive, Alison (comedy siren Sarah Silverman). Rounding out the human cast is gun nut Junction Jack (Bob Gunton) and ditzy, puppet-loving (and we mean that literally) Dottie (Dina Walters).

The puppet ensemble is no less impressive than the "fleshies." There's Count Blah, a vampire with a Sesame Street complex and a penchant for punctuating his sentences with "blah"; Warren "Professor Ape" Demontague, a soused monkey with thespian pretensions (and an ongoing feud with neighbor Corey Feldman); Tardy Turtle, an appellation which, unfortunately, does not just refer to his lack of speed, and Susan, a monster who makes Janet Reno look like Salma Hayek. Profanity and crude behavior emanating from puppets is certainly good for some easy laughs (prepare for the worst when adorable laundry icon Snuggles enters a bathroom stall in the episode "Father & Son Reunion"). But Greg the Bunny plays it smart as well, with sly in-jokes and movie references (catch the King Kong homage when an enraged Demontague jumps on Gil's shoulders in "Blah Bawls"). The show only got better and funnier as its lone season unfolded, making its cancellation that much more keenly felt. A Family Guy-type resurrection seems unlikely, but what about a Count Blah spinoff? Until then, this features-stuffed two-disc set, complete with clips from Greg's humble public-access beginnings, cast and in-character commentaries, behind-the-scenes segments, and a new Tardy featurette, will really sock it to you. --Donald Liebenson

Uncut, uncensored and unrelenting, Greg the Bunny stars Seth Green and Eugene Levy and is rude, crude, and stuffed with attitude. TV wasn?t ready for him. Are you? The complete series on DVD includes two never aired episodes and much more. Puppets are people too!

5 out of 5 stars K... Now I'm P!ssed Off!! WS on HDnet!!!.......2007-05-31

Great Series... Can't rave enough about the hilarity of this series. But next to being angered by FOX from cancelling one of it's many great series; I just discovered tonight that "Greg the Bunny" is now making appearances on HDnet, a high-def version of it non-the-less. Widescreen and 5.1 sound!!! The sound takes a back seat knowing now that it must have been filmed in WS. Just caught episode 2 "Sock Like Me" and seeing it in WS adds a bit more to the perspective. FOX... please re-release this in 5.1 WS!!!!!! Well worth it in FS... but more than worth it if released in WS.

5 out of 5 stars a must have for greg the bunny fans.......2007-05-24

i just got mine in the mail today and love it. i explored the bonus features first and for a show that only lasted 13 episodes the bonus features are so generous. i am huge fan and so happy 20th century fox put these eps on dvd but its the bonus features i am impressed with. On disc 1 is a 30 minute documentary on the creation of greg the bunny and how he came to be. then there are deleted scenes and extended scenes with either commentary on without and there are a lot of them too, i though i accidentally put play all but i didnt, there sure were a lot of scenes that went on the cutting room floor and none were left out on this dvd.
another hilarious feature are the puppett auditions which is a must see.
whats great about the features is that each one has an introduction by greg himself, even the main menu
has audio instructions from greg
when you go the actual episodes there are 4 audio commentaries on 6 of the eps and each one is given a synpopsis of what it is about
i dont think i have seen a more thorough dvd set for just 13 eps and i am just on disc 1

disc 2 has a feature called ifc greg the bunny reality show and follows greg around new york art galleries
there is also a short film featuring tardy the turtle calling tardy delivery
there are deleted and extended scenes
and 2 audio commentaries on 2 of the episodes

there are some easter eggs
and thats the only negative thing i have to say
i have no idea how to get to them

i am really happy to have these on dvd
since i dont get hdnet and cant see or record the eps

to everyone who loved the show this is a must have

4 out of 5 stars Just disappointed that there wont be another season...........2007-04-03

I can't honestly say that I thought this show was quite as great as the other reviewers on this site did but it's cute and the 20+ minute episodes were all but made for those late nights when the only other alternative is channel hopping...

It's a funny series with some truly memorable characters (Susan and Count Blah being my personal favorites) and for once even some enjoyable extras:)

So, if your looking for some light entertainment I'd definitely reccommend this show. It's well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars One Of the Most Underated Shows.......2007-03-14

I know this was a canceled show but Buy this DVD the extras are worth it alone add to that the fact that it is great adult humor and its with puppets - what more can you ask for - the show really draws you in and makes you feel like the puppets are real

This gets Quad Top Dogs! (two for each disk)

Go Warren!
