Chris Rock: Never Scared is the hot comic's fourth HBO special and proves as disciplined and trenchant as his previous cable concerts. Announcing he's a recent father, Rock proclaims his biggest job is keeping his daughter "off the pole," i.e., steering her away from the life of a stripper. Warming to the theme, Rock asks why so many strippers earn money to pay for expensive tuitions yet he's never received "a smart lap dance." Things turn topical as Rock argues that his government won't solve the murders of rappers. ("More people saw Tupac get shot than watched the last episode of Seinfeld.") This guy is funny and is one of the greatest comedians of all time. Very funny set!

Comedy is a form of telling the truth and getting people to laugh about it. I'm sure you all are well aware of the saying about laughing so you won't cry. There are some hard-edged comedians that are not afraid to talk about current events and Rock is one of them. He got into lightweight issues like making fun of Janet for having a "40-year old" breast out and Ying Yang twins, but I found his most hilarious comedy was the parts when he was sharing his opinions (ex. Bush, defending hip hop, Biggie and Pac, the government hating hip hop, abortion, divorce). There will no doubt be people who won't like his truth, but I can't do anything but respect it and crack up laughing because I agree with every single detail of it. The Ying Yang twins excerpt was the best for me, but I laughed through the whole thing. Every time I get annoyed at work, I go on this website and play those songs he made-up that women danced to. I've been watching this DVD through the years and every single time I see it, I laugh like I've never seen it before. But I know some folks won't like it because he's bumrushing peoples' soft spots, especially when it comes to race. Oh well! The cops do that everyday; at least a comic gets it right.

When it comes to stand up comedy, Chris Rock cannot do any wrong!

Known for his political observations, Chris Rock's humour will give you a simultaneous abdominal and mental workout!

Never Scared is not his FUNNIEST HBO special but it is still very entertaining! Some may find it overly political but I guess some people like to live with their heads in the sand.....Hello people...it's been a very political fews years!!

Definitely worth watching!
Chris still has a lot fire in his belly...most succesful comedians loose that once they are successful *coughs* Eddie Murphy...*coughs again* Martin Lawrence.

One of my favourite lines:
"If you're black, America is like the uncle that paid your way through college....but molested you"

You've heard the saying, 'Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.' Well, Chris Rock will have you in stitches as he reveals the often ugly truths about life, love, relationships, black/white folk and America. If you're a fan of Rock then you'll notice how he's matured since his other HBO specials. Of course there is plenty of the signature 'Rock yell' but he's communicating from the perspective of a (then) married-30ish-father of one- who is "conservative" about more things these days. Chris Rock is a genius. I'm happy to see him getting the recognition he deserves. He has come a long way from the mail room in Boomerang. This DVD is undoubtedly worth your time and money.
