Randy Newman's opening song, "A Fool in Love," perfectly sets up the movie that follows. The lyrics begin, "Show me a man who is gentle and kind, and I'll show you a loser," before praising the man who takes what he wants. Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) is the fool in love in Meet the Parents. Just as he's about to propose to his girlfriend Pam (Teri Polo), he learns that her sister's fiancé asked their father, Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro), for permission to marry. Now he feels the need to do the same thing. When Greg meets Jack, he is so desperate to be liked that he makes up stories and kisses ass rather than having the courage of his convictions. It doesn't take an elite member of the CIA to see right through Greg, but that's precisely what Jack is. Directed by Jay Roach (the Austin Powers movies), Meet the Parents is an incredibly well-crafted comedy that stands in nice opposition to, say, the sloppy extremes of the Farrelly brothers. Stiller is great at playing up the uncomfortable comedy of errors, balancing just the right amount of selfishness and self-deprecating humor, while De Niro's Jack is funny as the hard-ass father who just wants a few straight answers from the kid. What makes the Jack character all the funnier is Blythe Danner as his wife, the Gracie to his George Burns, who is the true heart of the movie. Oh, and Owen Wilson turns in yet another terrific comic performance as Pam's ex-fiancé. --Andy Spletzer

Meet the Parents.......2007-06-15
The movie 'Meet the Parents' is a humorous film. It is about a guy named Greg who is a nurse. How weird is that?! Well anyway he meets this girl named Pam Burns. They fall in love and all of that good stuff. But, Pam's dad is a bit suspicious and litterally sniffs out lies. He has this thing called the circle of trust. Greg is given a chance and is in it for.........a little while.
But Jack isn't too fond of his daughter's dates or boyfriends. Well anyway in the movie Pam's cat jinksy gets lost and its up to Greg to find him. Greg really didnt have any luck finding him. But, I think you should watch the movie and find out what happens. You'll love it. This movie is rated PG-13 and is about 2 hours long.
I would reccomend this movie to anyone who likes crude humor.
Is Your Car Green? If So, You'll Like This Movie........2007-05-17
This movie is pretty easy to review. It's funny. Thats all you really have to know. It's not a deep movie, nor is it slapstick. It's just a well made laugher. Ben Stiller plays his part very well as the guy who doesn't know how to tell the truth and always gets the bad break. Robert De Niro is absolutly perfect as the father inlaw from hell whos always down your throat. Everything from his facial expressions to his genius lines are extremely funny. Even De Niro's family are uptight and very unlikable. This movie sounds bad and pointless when you hear the plot: bad stuff happening to Ben Stiller because of De Niro. But it's done very well and it's just a very enjoyable movie.
Extremely disappointing comedy.......2007-01-02
This movie was highly recommended to me and I looked forward to a good comedy but never laughed once. The story could had every opportunity to be so much better; the nervous suitor going home to ask for his beloved's hand, especially with an actor like De Niro to intimidate him. Instead the movie relies on dumb cliches and corny lines that just aren't funny.
Making fun of, and marginalizing, the nursing profession with repeated "jokes" wasn't amusing, (the movie has the girl's parents repeatedly insinuate that he's a nurse because he wasn't smart enough to be a doctor) nor was the hero's bumbling. If he's really so smart, then who do something so stupid - and cruel - as kill a family pet and then try to cover it up with a "counterfeit"?? Not funny at all. Having the cat urinate on the beloved deceased grandmother's ashes was just gross, and that's only a few of many unentertaining gems in this feature.
I was really disappointed, and can't recommend this, especially as a family movie.
Non-stop laugh riot!.......2006-12-20
`Meet the Parents' is one of those classic comedies you can't help but love. Ben Stiller proved he's comic genius, Teri Polo burst onto the scene and Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner stole the entire show. I just have to say I'm so glad my father-in-law isn't THIS insane.
Ben Stiller plays Greg Focker, a male nurse who's about to pop the question to girlfriend Pam (Polo) but before he can get it out she gets word that her sister is engaged. What makes this a bad thing is that Greg then finds out how old fashioned Pam's father is and realizes before he can propose he needs to ask her fathers permission. Her father Jack (De Niro) is not just an intimidating man, he's an ex-member of the CIA who is bent on exposing Greg for the sap he's certain he must be.
With Greg trying too hard to impress everyone he ends up making things much worse for himself, lying to make himself look better, losing Jack's precious cat Jinxie, flooding the backyard with sewage and quite a few other embarrassing and damaging things. What makes this film so delightful is the chemistry between every actor here; no one seems miscast despite what you may think.
De Niro is fantastic here proving once and for all that he's one of our greatest actors, and Blythe Danner is just hilarious as Pam's mother Dina. Great supporting performances by Owen Wilson (proving yet again that paired with Stiller they are dynamic) and James Rebhorn who's hilarious as Dr. Larry Banks. Just pop this one in, sit back and get ready to laugh, laugh and laugh some more.
Great Comedy!.......2006-12-16
This is truly an exellent comedy movie to watch, without being corny. I am not a fan of corny un realistic movies and this one is truly hilarious without being corny at all. I really got a lot of laughs out of this one! I also enjoyed Meet The Fockers, but I liked this one a lot better. Meet The Fockers was a little corny but still very enjoyable to watch, I hope they come out with another Fockers movie! These movies are the best comedies that I have seen in a really long time!

Two very funny movies!.......2007-01-04
The duo set of `Meet the Parents' and `Meet the Fockers' is a nice addition and a good buy if you don't already own one or the other. Both of them are funny in their own rights, but truth be told, if you haven't seen `Meet the Parents' then you will miss most of the jokes in `Meet the Fockers'. To me the first film is still the better of the two, although the second film has the whole rubber boob scene which is more than hysterical. All in all these are two very funny movies that most everyone can enjoy. Highly recommended.
he's a male nurse..........2005-06-23
Wow, these two comedies are some of the best I have ever seen in my entire life. First off, the price for these two is UMBELIEVABLY LOW and these movies will just have you on the floor with tears, you'll be laughing so much.
Meet the parents is the story of Ted, the male nurse who is wishes to get married to his true love Pam. But, first, he goes with her on a vacation to her parents' house. There, Jack and Dina Burns get to meet him. But Jack, played beautifully by Robert De Niro used to work in the FBI and is worried about Ted who is unaware that this is his real proffession. The weekend goes terribly wrong as Ted gets put under Jack's lie ditector, burns down an altar, loses the "gifted" family cat, Jinxie, breaks Pam's engaged sister's nose and much more. Beleive me, it's a real treat for the whole family and is absolutely hilarious. I especially like the ending when Ted addresses a flight attendant who tells him that his bag can't fit in the over hand compartement.
It goes something like this:
Her: Sir, you're going to have to check that.
Him: No! Your stupid airlines already lost my bag and it really screwed things up.
Her: Sir, I can guarantee that it will be safely put below with all of the other luggage.
Him: Oh, can you guarantee that? Are you personally going to take my bag with the guys with the earmuffs and put it down below? ETCCCCC
You get the picture, but I didn't even give away the best part of that scene which is the last things that he says.
In the the sequel, Pam and her parents go to meet Ted's parents. I actually probably liked the sequel better, which is definitely something to say! Of course, things go awry with the over agressive dad (hilarious football scene)and the mom that's a sex therapist. Well anyway, I don't want to give anything away but it's trully hilarious. 1 example is when Ted's dad call him Gay (short for his full name, Gaylord Focker) and has a wall prepared which makes Jack say: "I didn't even know that they made 12th place ribbons!" And the cat flushes their dog down the toilet! Anyway, I don't want to give too much away but believe me it's hilarious and can be loved by all ages!

A pair of Jacks,a Walsh and a Byrnes.......2004-06-22
Fans of Robert DeNiro can double their viewing pleasure with this pair of films which are some of DeNiro's greatest. In MEET THE PARENTS,released in 2000 and on video in 2001,DeNiro is Jack Byrnes,a CIA worker whose daughter(Teri Polo) is the love interest of Gaylord "Greg" Focker(Ben Stiller). Greg after meeting the Fockers, ends up making trouble. Jack finds a marijuana pipe in Greg's posession. Also the Fockers' roof is accidentally set afire by burning fallen leaves. Greg, taking a cigarette break atop the roof flicked his butt inside the leaf-filled gutter. The Fockers' backyard was beautifully decorated and prepared for the wedding of another daughter of the Fockers. Greg finally received his luggage that the airline he traveled with lost. Worst of all,the family cat Jinx ran away, frightened by the fire. Greg spray-painted another black cat's tail to make it look just like Jinx. Greg, about to fly home,is evicted from the airplane after verbally abusing a flight attendant and mentioning the word "bomb". Greg was arrested and taken to jail for the disorderly conduct as well, bailed out by Jack. In 1988's MIDNIGHT RUN,DeNiro is Jack Walsh,a bounty hunter about to be paid 25 grand for bringing Jonathan Mardukas(Charles Grodin),an accountant who embezzled mobsters to the Los Angeles County Jail. Also after Jonathan is FBI agent Alonzo Moseley(Yaphet Kotto) and Jimmy Serrano(Dennis Farina),the leader of the embezzled mob. In one scene,Jack steals Alonzo's FBI badge, impersonating him. Joe Pantoliano is Eddie Moscone, the owner and operator of Moscone Bail Bonds who pays Jack to bring Jonathan to L.A.(Eddie bailed Jonathan out,not realizing who he was at the time). Jack and Jonathan travel through various parts of America, starting in New York where Jonathan was arrested by Jack. They end up in Texas,Arizona,Nevada and finally in California. Another bounty hunter named Marvin Doerfler(John Ashton) is sent to get Jonathan also. Eddie phoned Marvin at a Pittsburgh motel where Marvin was staying. Marvin found Jack and Jonathan in various places(on a train,in Texas,Arizona and Nevada where he was arrested by the FBI). Jimmy is given computer discs in place of Jonathan(the discs has the mob's account records on them). After Jack and Jonathan arrive in L.A.,Jonathan is let go. MIDNIGHT RUN is a sophomore joint project for Ashton and director Martin Brest. Ashton was Sgt. John Taggart in BEVERLY HILLS COP,one of Brest's earlier films. Jay Roach directed MEET THE PARENTS. Both films were distibuted by Universal Pictures. DeNiro made a few other films for Universal, those including the 1991 remake of CAPE FEAR with Nick Nolte and BACKDRAFT,released the same year.
Product Description
To the horror of prudes everywhere, American Pie 2 is even funnier than its popular predecessor, pushing the R rating with such unabashed ribaldry that you'll either be appalled or surprised by its defiant celebration of the young-adult male libido. Females will be equally shocked or delighted, because like American Pie this appealing, character-based comedy puts the women in control while offering a front-row view of horny guys in all their dubious glory. Which is to say, American Pie is mostly about sex--or, to be more specific, breasts, genitalia, "potential" lesbianism, blue silicone sex toys, crude methods of seduction, "the rule of three" (just watch the movie), a shower of "champagne," phone sex, tantric sex, and, oh yeah... superglue.
In the case of college freshman Jim (Jason Biggs), performance anxiety plagues his upcoming reunion with sexy Czech exchange student Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), but his buddies from American Pie have a solution: rent a Lake Michigan beach house for the summer, throw wild parties to lure the local "hotties," and score big-time. Beach Party this ain't: blessed with a complete cast reunion from AP1 (including Eugene Levy as Jim's dad), this sequel is anything but innocent, and with the exception of drugs (which are conspicuously absent), pretty much anything goes. The gags are almost nonstop, and director J.B. Rogers (recovering from his debut debacle Say It Isn't So) handles them with laudable precision, allowing his young cast (particularly Biggs, who epitomizes comedic good sportsmanship) to run with lines that most people wouldn't dare utter aloud. The result is a liberating and eminently good-natured comedy that needn't apologize for its one-track mind
