The high jinks and low jinks continue at Microgrand Academy: Truffle, who talks like James from Team Rocket in Pokémon, pursues Hinano, a supernatural being who's in love with Cacao. But Cacao and his friend Almond are interested only in food. This 1999 TV comedy is not particularly original: "Kitty-Kat Kalamity" and "Athletic Supporters" borrow heavily from the Ranma-1/2 episodes "You Really Do Hate Cats!" and "I Am a Man! Ranma's Going Back to China." Trouble Chocolate is no sillier than Ranma or Slayers, but the characters lack the well-defined personalities that give those series their enduring appeal. Recent tragedies have unfortunately overtaken the last episode on this disc "...And Called it Macaroni"--sending a character to shoot up a high school just isn't funny in the U.S. these days. Description

Meet the wacky gang from Micro-Grand Academy and find out why one summoning from a disgruntled sorcerer and one gluttonous kid's reaction to "C.H.O.C.O." spells nothing but trouble. So maybe substituting hair spray for plutonium wasn't the best idea. Mint's hotly anticipated new ultimate weapon has become a shrinking machine! Then, Hinano formally joined the S.M.A.T., but has Truffle bitten off more than she can chew? He's in for more fun as he finally summons the nerve to confess his love for Hinano. Witnessing his subsequent abduction, Hinano tries to report the "crime", but if we've learned anything in this show, it's that where there's chocolate, there's trouble. Can Cacao save the day, and Hinano, before she goes back to being a puppet for good?

5 out of 5 stars Best Anime Romantic Comedy Ever!.......2005-10-29

Once I first saw this DVD, I got hooked! and bought the whole collection. The characters here can become overly dramatic about each other without getting on my nerves and they all just blends in so perfectly despite their huge differences. What I thought was wierd was the fact that the boys loved chocolate so much and eventually I realized that one of them was allergic to it, which left him in a drunken state that would save the day. Another enigma was why the happy puppet girl with green hair always said strange things like "You're welcome" when no one thanked her. I guess they're just phrazes she uses to express excitement. My favorite character over all is Professor Big Bang, who seemes to be a huge and confused man-woman with a past in the military. He crushes on another GORGEOUS male teacher, who happens to be a mellow vampire whom is always careful not to crumble in the sunlight. There's no real nudity, nor too much violence...but what anime doesn't have violence..?You just have to see it for yourself. I couldn't possibly explain how good it is. And I'm one to hate dramatic anime.

Complications ensue when Cacao, the hero of this featherweight romantic comedy, awakens to find the green-haired Hinano in bed with him. As he reconstructs the previous day, he learns that he sneezed as Professor Ganache was casting a spell, causing a faerie to enter a marionette's body and create Hinano. Klutzy and perennially famished, Cacao is another in the long line of agreeable goofs with untapped potential, in this case the ability to become a "great sorcerer." Hinano adores Cacao, to the chagrin of the dashing Truffle, who is smitten with her. The filmmakers spoof the clichés of animated romances--sparkles, breaking waves, waltzes, princess costumes, etc.--in the relationship between blond Deborah and handsome Captain Muratake, who talks like Kuno in Ranma 1/2. Trouble Chocolate plays like a cross between Urusei Yatsura and Harry Potter set in Hershey, Pennsylvania. (Rated 13 and older: mild risqué humor, cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon

One day Cacao, a young boy, woke up and find himself in a bed together with a green haired girl, Hinano, who possesed a magical power. Oddly enough her body is made of wood, and from there and on the troubles begin

5 out of 5 stars Trouble Chocolate is Very Yummy!.......2002-10-23

Trouble Chocolate is fast becoming one of my favorites. I have only rented the first DVD and I am hopelessly hooked. It has everything a great romantic comedy needs. An excellent voice cast. Top of the line animation (for a TV shows not for a film). It's a bit in line with Saber Marionette J and Tenchi in some ways. We have an average student named Cacao who is learning magic. He has one slight flaw. Chocolate is like 80 proof Jack Daniel's to him he also has a habit of mass destruction when drunk. So one day when Professor Ganache (that's his teacher) is summoning a forest spirit Cacao snacks on a bar of magic chocolate that's 200 years past the expiration date. This gets him totally plastered and he sneezes and brakes the magic diagram of sand used in the spell. So the forest sprit takes over the body of a wooden puppet. Enter Hinano and of course she is a total babe with magic powers and with in twenty minutes we have another guy falling for her. A rich jerk named Truffle. Oh by the way she is made out of wood. We have a lot of jokes at DBZ and Gundum's expense. We have teachers that are vampires, wizards and a she\male Frankenstein that's a little oversensitive. I don't want to spoil the rest for you but its got magic, monsters, food and romance galore. My only complaint is that there are very little extra features on this DVD. I hope someday that Cartoon Network might run this show so others can see it. Enjoy and lay off the chocolate!
