Description
Gohan's Metamorphosis - Piccolo takes Gohan to a deserted wasteland to train him to utilize his incredible power. Gohan is left alone to survive for six months, while Piccolo watches over him from afar. On the night of the first full moon, Piccolo witnesses an incredible scene as Gohan becomes a gigantic ape! Gohan Makes A Friend - Gohan gradually gets used to living in the wasteland, even though he misses his parents. One day, he helps an injured dinosaur and the two become friends. Trouble On Arlia - The evil Saiyan warriors, Vegeta and Nappa, are getting closer to earth, eager to gather the seven Dragon Balls and realize their wish for immortality. Great anime series, bad dub.......2003-12-31
EPISODE OPINIONS:
These are decent dubbed episodes. However, the first episode introduces the horrible "next dimension" line. A scene of Bulma firing a gun at Krillin and Roshi to get them to pay attention was cut. Also, Nappa and Vegeta are still the wrong color (Vegeta just looks WRONG with red hair!) Some of the scenes of Gohan detransforming were edited to be less revealing (which is strange since they showed child Goku's butt all the time in the classic series.) Once again, these were good episodes, but they could have been translated A LOT better.
DVD:
This DVD is good because it has better picture quality than a VHS tape, but horrible because it only contains the edited dub, and not an uncut sub like later Dragon Ball Z DVDs. I recently heard word that FUNimation will be redubbing the Saiyan Saga and the former half of the Frieza saga, so don't go out and buy this right away.
OVERALL:
Overall, The Saiyans does a pretty good job continuing the Dragon Ball Z series - but the dub could have been SO muc better. Although Dragon Ball Z is an excellent anime, I don't recommend this. I recommend seeing the series in its uncut, original Japanese glory; this dub doesn't do it justice.

We also meet the Saiyans, whose unblinking evil nature are breathtakingly illustrated. These guys make the "Dark Jedi" from "Phantom Menace" look like prissy juvenile delinquents.
Very important intro to the DBZ world - follow this up with "Tree of Might", which should satisfy the fans rabid for more fighting scenes.
Episodes 5, 6, and 7 are great!.......2000-05-01
The main theme in each of these episodes revolves around Gohan. In the beginning he is afraid of his own shadow. He encounters a few challenges, and as he overcomes each he becomes more and more bold. Not all of the situations come out in his favor, but even these are necessary for his 'training'.
Overall, I would say Volume 2 is pretty cool.
