4 out of 5 stars Part 3 Of A Continuing Saga.......2002-04-06

Part 3 takes the Getter Team to the frozen area of the north poles where the team has to battle a alien from taking over the camp's power generator.

The Monster does absorb the camp's generator and using a 'human shield' prevents the getter team from killing it. With that the getter team is stunned and can't make itself attack the monster.

The arrival of the Black getter robot and its brutal attack on the monster shocks Kei in to asking "WHY?!" to the silent Black getter robot as it flys away.

The team soon meets up with the black getter robot again in New York city where the alien invaders take the form of two cute puppies which the team adopts until they attack.

The origin of the black getter robot is explained and the pilot is introduced as one of the original Getter robo operators who was jailed back in part 1 for killing the Professor.

The getter team teams up with the Black getter robot and battle the two puppies and their brood in New York city.

There is a nice shot of the World Trade Center Buildings shown during one battle with the aliens hanging on it and with the destruction of the black getter robot the mutated Getter Dragon has now come to life.

Part 3 ends with the Getter team flying to where the Getter Dragon is raising snake-like out of the remains of a volcano for the final showdown.

4 out of 5 stars Vol. 3 , The Thing, New York and the Pacific Ocean!!!!!.......2001-11-29

So Im back way late on this review but Im trying my best to get the word out on this incredible series. Up to this point the series has been in a word, UNBELIEVABLE so how is vol 3. No different from the rest, UTTERLY AMAZING.

The first episode on this DVD is set in the Arctic and has a very John Carpenter's The Thing (which is one of my favorite movies of all time by the way) feel to it. We also get to see the Black Getter for the first time and man is he awesome. The next episode deals with New York and I'll say [...] it does show an apocalyptic looking New York with some very cool action sequences throughout and lastly the final episode setting us up for a grand finally battle with the Getter Dragon in the Pacific Ocean!!!

Anime fans, action fans this is just a brief overview of this chapter in the Getter Robo DVD library. You will have no clue as to what's going on unless you start from the beginning so please go get yourself a copy of vol. 1 and 2 of Getter Robo and then get this vol. 3. Whatever your apprehensions are toward giving this show a shot all I have to say is if your into Ultra Violent action that actually has a cohesive storyline that forces you to watch not just for the action but the progression of story please please pick this up!!

The animation is first rate and the production levels are high so what else could stop you from Getting into Getter? This series to this point gets a 4.5/5 so unless they royal screw this up with an awful ending this baby may get a 5 star review something that I only give the "ELITE" of a genre. Next up vol. 4 and sadly the conclusion.... I CANNOT WAIT!!!

"GET INTO GETTER"!!!!! and spread the word!!!

5 out of 5 stars The Battle Leads to Manhattan.......2001-11-13

If you haven't seen this series yet, I strongly recommend it. Sure, it's by Go Nagai, but it's a fun series.

Okay, if you have any fears of the WTC incident, you may not want to watch this volume for a bunch of reason. First off, there is a very painful mass murder in the first episode. Second, the last two episodes take place in, you guested it, New York. It's in ruins and the WTC towers are both still there. If you can get by that, this volume should be pretty fun to watch.

As always it continues with fast paced and gritty fight scenes with Invaders. Im so happy that a new Getter arrives on the seen. Black Getter is one heck of machine. I won't give away the name of the pilot, but he has been on the show before. And ofcourse, we are once again treated to the big army of robots after Doctor Saotome. What he does in this volume is beyond comparison to his previous stunts.

Extras on the disc include hilarious original LD inserts, more great interviews with four more dub voice actors and textless opening and closing which have been here since disc one.

Overall, a very entralling and exciting volume of Getter Robo. Don't miss this one.

5 out of 5 stars CHANGE GETTER!.......2001-06-23

Giant Robot action at it's finest. Return to a day when robot's could trash an opponent simply because the Hero was determined not to lose.

Getter Robo harkens back to those days. Truly worthy a look by any Giant Robot fan.
