The Space Colonies, the United Earth Sphere Alliance, and the OZ Special Forces (an arm of the sinister Romefeller Foundation) remain locked in a three-way struggle in this 49-part series that aired in Japan from 1995 to 1996. The outcome hinges on the actions of the five young pilots and their indestructible Gundam mobile suits.

Duo and Quatre, who is the heir to an enormous fortune, hide out in the desert with sympathetic rebels while their three counterparts undergo various personal crises. Having lost a sword duel to Treize, Chang broods and announces, "I have no right to fight." Heero seeks forgiveness for having inadvertently caused the death of pacifist leader Marshal Noventa--and offers to let each of the Marshal's relatives shoot him. Trowa is overcome with admiration for Heero's nobility, and almost kills himself in an attempt to follow his example. Dissuaded by circus performer Catherine, Trowa helps Heero prepare for a mobile suit duel with Treize. Meanwhile, Relena tries to assassinate the icy Lady Une and forges an alliance with Lieutenant Noin.

The plots and character motivations may sound improbable, but the episodes deliver plenty of robot vs. robot battles--which is what Gundam fans want.

Rated 13 and older for occasional profanity and violence, largely restricted to machines attacking each other. --Charles Solomon

4 out of 5 stars Great series.......2004-03-27

INTRODUCTION:
Ever since the late seventies, the Gundam series has been one of the most successful and widely-loved anime series in the world. It has become a favorite of many over the years. There have been several different sub-series over the years, and one of the most popular ones of which is the Wing series, released in the mid-nineties. This is a DVD featuring episodes fromt that series. Read on for my review.

BASIC PLOT:
The Gundam Wing series follows the exploits of five young men who pilot mobile suits against the forces of an organization seeking world domination. There's Heero (the main man), Duo (the cool guy), Trowa (the quiet guy), Quatre (the peace-lover), and Wufei (the overconfident hothead.) The battle rages on for forty-nine episodes, and as the series progresses, a number of plot twists keep things interesting. This is a rare example of a series where the characters aren't paper thin - they continue to evolve as the series progresses. This is one of the best anime series out there, as one of the best mecha series.

SERIES OPINIONS:
To put it simply, this is an excellent series. Many fans of the Gundam series call this the best sub-series of all, and honestly, who can blame them? The storyline is great, the animation is great, the characters are great - everything about this series is great. It's good to see the series get a long overdue DVD release in America.

DVD:
These DVDs are good, because they contain several uncut episodes, but they're bad in that they don't contain any special features (that is, other than the very basic DVD stuff.) The series is one of the greatest anime series out there, but don't expect any bonus material.

OVERALL:
Overall this is an excellent anime series, and I recommend it to any anime or mecha fan. If you like either one, this series will not disappoint.

5 out of 5 stars Heero is Alive!.......2002-05-27

At the end of Gundam Wing Operation 2, Heero blows up his mobile suit, and we don't know if he's alive after he blows up his gundam. But he is alive, and is saved by Trowa, who takes him to the circus that Trowa hides in. We learn that a month has gone by, and OZ hasn't done anything to the colonies.
Meanwhile, Duo and Quarte discover that thier mission to destroy OZ is the same.
Wu Fei meets Sally Po in the battlefield. Wu Fei tells Sally that weak people shouldn't fight. Lost in his emotions, Wu Fei enters his gundam and helps Sally Po get rid of OZ in an area of China.
Back at the circus, Trowa tries to kill himself, but is stopped by Catherine.
Heero and Trowa meet Noin in the last espiode of the DVD. Noin tells Heero and Trowa that Zechs wishes to finish the mobile suit battle in Antarctica.

5 out of 5 stars great.......2001-09-29

this is a great video if you like gundams battling together.

5 out of 5 stars Heero lives on!!!.......2001-06-28

Alright...i could start out by saying this was an awesome DVD and blah blah blah....but i won't since its rather dull to read this over and over. In my opinion, it was a great DVD (episodes 11-15) if you want to get the whole series into your posession or want to learn what goes on in A.C. 195, but if you're looking for the action packed moments of the series, you'd be better off buying the episodes closer to the end of the series. This DvD picks up right after Heero self-detonates and leaves off right before Heero battles Zechs in Antarctica, so fear not my friends, Heero is alive! There is a lot of Relena in this DvD, but then again when is she NOT getting in Heero's face? Personally, I thought the Relena moments were ALL dull, I mean, all she ever does is talk, so if you like the actual Gundam pilots (Heero, Duo, Trowa, Quatre, and Wufei) you can just skip over the Relena stuff. This DvD includes both the Japanese and English versions, both with optional subtitles. I found the Japanese version hilarious just because of the voices used. If you already know what I'm talking about, and you're wondering why Quatre sounds like a girl (no joke intended), its because he IS voiced by a girl. And if you think Duo's english voice is familiar, its because the same guy voiced Piccolo in Dragonball Z. Pretty nifty, huh? ....ah!, i almost forgot, a bit of advice: If Quatre ever comes to your door asking for tea, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE IT TO HIM!!! I made that mistake and now i do not have a single tea bag in my house.

5 out of 5 stars Still an Awesome Series........2001-02-24

OK now, Zechs maybe fighting for OZ but his heart is in the war. He resurrected a Gundam. He just maybe on there side? Who knows but Zechs himself. Continually watch the Gundam Wing series to find out.
