The struggle between the adherents of a warrior code of honor derived from the samurai concept of bushido, the way of the sword, and the soulless adherents of realpolitik continues, with the steely Lady Une at its focus. The powerful Romefeller Foundation builds a large factory on the Moon to manufacture Mobile Dolls: pilotless, self-contained battle robots. Une, the five Gundam pilots, and OZ leader Treize Khushrenada all object to the existence of the Dolls, not because they can make the Foundation all-powerful, but because they will replace human warriors--and deprive humanity of the singular emotions experienced only through heroism in battle. Treize resigns the leadership of OZ, the Foundation's puppet military organization. Zechs Marquise has also left OZ, and assumed the throne of the Sanc Kingdom. In a strange subplot, Gundam pilot Quatra sees his fabulously wealthy father killed defending his pacifist ideals. Shattered by grief, Quatra embarks on a one-man campaign of devastation in his improved Gundam. His actions bring him into conflict with his former comrades, Trowa and Heero. While these battles are raging, the scientist-engineers who created the first Gundams are working in secret on yet more powerful mobile suits. Rated 13 and up for occasional profanity and violence, largely restricted to machines attacking each other. On the Cartoon Network, an edited version of these same episodes (21. "Grief Stricken Quatra," 22. "The Fight for Independence," 23. "Duo, the God of Death Once Again," 24. "The Gundam They Call Zero," 25. Description
Zech's return as Milliardo Peacecraft encourages the rebellion against Oz! However, Quatre has succumbed to the pressure of war and returns to L4 to fing his home in disarray and with it... his sanity. The colonies have begun to arm themselves with weapons of war. Duo must travel to the Lunar Base in an effort to destroy the Mobile Doll production facility. But as the Mobile Doll Project becomes the focal point for the Romefeller Foundation's victory, can Heero and Trowa defeat a craze Quatre or will they all perish in this senseless war?

BASIC PLOT:
The Gundam Wing series follows the exploits of five young men who pilot mobile suits against the forces of an organization seeking world domination. There's Heero (the main man), Duo (the cool guy), Trowa (the quiet guy), Quatre (the peace-lover), and Wufei (the overconfident hothead.) The battle rages on for forty-nine episodes, and as the series progresses, a number of plot twists keep things interesting. This is a rare example of a series where the characters aren't paper thin - they continue to evolve as the series progresses. This is one of the best anime series out there, as one of the best mecha series.
SERIES OPINIONS:
To put it simply, this is an excellent series. Many fans of the Gundam series call this the best sub-series of all, and honestly, who can blame them? The storyline is great, the animation is great, the characters are great - everything about this series is great. It's good to see the series get a long overdue DVD release in America.
DVD:
These DVDs are good, because they contain several uncut episodes, but they're bad in that they don't contain any special features (that is, other than the very basic DVD stuff.) The series is one of the greatest anime series out there, but don't expect any bonus material.
OVERALL:
Overall this is an excellent anime series, and I recommend it to any anime or mecha fan. If you like either one, this series will not disappoint.

The fans of the fighting also get to see new models, including the introduction of the ZERO system; a mind warping and controlling mechanism, installed into the suits to give the pilot the greatest power, yet minimum control over who they should or shouldn't be fighting. Tension builds throughout the entire 5 episodes, a true turning point in the seemingly simple war plot. Now the Gundam Pilots are turning against each other...
