Customer Reviews:
action packed but yet short storie.......2003-08-07
Well i like M.D. geist very cool characters but m.d.geist and genocyber lacking store. But enough for me m.d. geist is a great action movie very much not lacking violence or blood great to watch when borde. Genocyber it good but stores off track.cybernetics is good to. it a good amount to pay for this. you could call this great action moive but poor storie line. i like it though.
Good value for Koichi Ohata fans.......2003-07-26
The Animes in this box are all Sci-fi/Cyberpunk with lots of action and violence. Fans of Koichi Ohatas animes will not be dissapointed, the DVD transfer is good and there is lots of bonus materials including the original soundtracks. I recommend this box for everyone who likes some mindless cyberpunk action and violence.
Boxed Junk.......2002-09-04
Listen up folks, don't waste your hard earned money on this set. Compiling a bunch of...movies together in a shiny box does NOT increase their watchability. These are a few of the most inane and obscenely horrible anime films out there. Bad animation, terrible writing and lackluster presentations scar every film.
Don't even bother. Save your dollars on something worthwhile like the Outlaw Star boxed set or the Gasaraki box.

Customer Reviews:
High Quality Anime Gore.......2006-10-15
This is one of my favorite animes of all time. From the ultra-apocalyptic theme for humanity to the female-deity theme of the angel of death, this movie is solid from front to back.
It takes the thematic elements that most hardcore animes use and takes them to an extreme level. So if you like watching things blow up, turn into giant fleshy robots, be eaten from the inside, evolve novel technological life forms, etc, this is the movie for you. It may be gory, but the artwork is inspired and I wouldn't cut a scene from Genocyber for anything. You can tell that the animators put a lot of talent into scenes of not only gore but also into action scenes and apocalyptic scenes. From front to back this movie has either humans playing with science they shouldn't play with or ferocious and beautiful angels and demons and their creatively written battles. In short, if you want to see some beautiful drawings of the most intense s*** you hope never actually happens to our planet, watch Genocyber.
WITH OUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT, THE WORST ANIME OF ALL TIME!.......2005-10-27
Don't waste your time watching this movie, it will make you sick with gore. Watching the entire motion picture gave me a headache and I was disgusted with myself for a week for watching it all the way through. The first five minutes should have told me it was going to be horrendous, every other word was the "F" word. There is foul language, molestation, attempted rape, the inside looking out of a woman giving birth, severed body parts beyond belief, blood, vomiting, spilling guts and exploding brains, sexual situations, nudity, and violence against women and children. The only good thing about this movie was the organs were well drawn.
It seemed like the plot lost its train of thought and was being made up as they were going along. It doesn't make sense, and switches gears left and right. It starts out with two physic sisters, and when the little sister takes mind control over the other, they combined to create a super power called Angel. Then it goes on to destroy there enemies and in doing so destroys the earth. Almost all of humanity was killed off in doing so, then it jumped centuries into the future. Then they have the nerve to put Christianity into the film and making the "genocyber" God to them. I did not know they could make a show this appalling. I have never seen an anime movie or series that comes even close to how ghastly this was. If you like this movie, I swear something has got to be wrong with you.
A Mess of Storytelling.......2005-10-25
The One Good Thing: Action.
Some will find this worthwhile. Personally, it did nothing for me, especially since it is yet another mecha anime in an already saturated market. The storytelling is a mess, jumping either moments or years between episodes and throughout there is never one moment worth grasping as good storytelling, only continual, endless, needless, violence.
I'd only recommend this for people who enjoy violence and action.
Very Entertaining.......2005-09-29
It's very, very, very gruesome and gutsy, but I love it. As violent as an anime could ever be. The plot and character development is a bit shallow but it's really not all that important when your going to get this gory. Some cool fight scenes too. I recomend it to all anime fans, even horror film fans.

Not perfect, but not as horrid as some people think........2004-01-02
Genocyber is something you'll either enjoy, or be completely disgusted by. This OAV is certainly not for the weak of heart.
The story at first bears resemblance to Akira, but goes off onto its own path eventually, although the time transitions could have been done a little better.
The animation isn't perfect, but it's passable, and showcases the, er..."Insides" rather well. o.O
Overall, I'd recommend Genocyber if you're a fan of odd sci-fi movies or ultraviolence.
If I could, it would be a 0........2002-01-31
This title had bad animation. It had an even worse plot. The basic storyline(oh, wait, this is the WHOLE storyline)involves two psychic sisters--one is feral, the other crippled-- joining together in this "angel"...who promptly kills as many people as the "bad guys". This doesn't contain just a "touch of ultra-violence", as the box suggests. I think the animators ran out of colors other than red. Severed arms, severed legs, severed heads, and disemboweled people are just a few of the delicacies to be found in this god-awful anime.
Cool but Very Gorey and Graphic.......2001-11-19
There are only four episodes ever made so the DVD is short. The story starts out interesting but after the first two episodes it gets kind of off track and splits into a separate story. If you love gore and violence you can't get much better than this one. But the story kind of lacks.
Great series with bonus DVD goodies.......2000-09-28
I really enjoyed the first episode of Genocyber. Great action, incredibly violent sequences. Horrifically gory in parts. High quality early 90's (pre-CGI) animation. Character design really strong -- especially the mercenary cyborgs assassins! The disc is filled with lots of goodies, but they are only accessible through your DVD-ROM drive on your PC or Mac. The DVD says PC-only, but they are just folders of JPEG and TIFF images, which any Macintosh can also read. Lots of prototype designs and pencil sketches. The DVD features english and japanese language tracks along with an english subtitle track. Be warned that the english language and english subtitles are dramatically different (especially in Episode 1). I would recommend watching it twice, or watching with both the english audio and english captioning turned on.
I think think Genocyber was written as a one episode movie. But it was so popular, they had to write more episodes. Because so much happens by the end of episode one, where does the series go? They have to push the `reset button' and start over. Episodes 2 & 3 are quite good with a few neat tie-ins to the first show. But clearly, it has a hard time measuring up to the incredible first show. By the time 4 & 5 roll around, it's almost completely off subject. As it takes place 500 years in the future, Genocyber is relagated to just taking up scenery in episode 4. The entire story suddenly shifts to two new characters. Only by episode 5, does Genocyber once again appear in any sort of meaningful way. That's one of the problems of having a character like Genocyber be so powerful. Entire cities are destroyed by the creature at the bat of an eyelash. I only wish the amazing ideas and fascinating characters presented in episode one were continued on in the series. As with each episode we have to learn a whole new cast of characters, it's difficult to build any sort of bond with them. The disc alone is worth episode one and the DVD bonus material.
