4 out of 5 stars A Good Buy!.......2005-09-21

Magic Knights Rayearth is one of those great anime series that you get attatched to. A not-too-bad storyline if I do say so myself, although some parts of it are a little aggravating. The quality of the dvd is average, and I think its just the luck of the draw whether or not you get a good one or a bad one. The delivery time was surprisingly quick even though mine was an international order, four or five days, yet when you attempt to play it it can be a little hard to negotiate.
There is no options menu for the dvd, that I could find anyway, and you may need to adjust your actual dvd player settings in order to get it to play in english, and on one of the episodes there was a glitch that stopped it playing. I took it out and put it back in and it refused to play anything again. It eventually worked, and after that there were no more problems, but that was a little frustrating.
Otherwise I was quite happy with it, and the first season sort of completes itself, so there isnt really a need to get into the second season if you dont want to. I couldn't stop watching it! If you can get past the few faults which I've mentioned then there isnt really a reason not to buy it, if your a fan of Rayearth. Not counting those faults, a good four stars in my opinion. :)

5 out of 5 stars Good Story, Great Artwork.......2005-03-11

I throughly enjoyed this anime. The artwork is excellent, the story flows well, and the story winds up at the end of episode 20 and doesn't leave you hanging. I prefer the Japanese dialog with English subtitles, and the Japanese soundtrack is outstanding. (On the other hand, the English version of the opening song left much to be desired.)

Although the values of loyality and friendship are a prominent theme, this is not just a morality story. There are plenty of battles where the girls get more than their share of cuts and bruises at the hands of their foes' swords and magic.

The only technical problem I had with the disks was that you had to set the language/subtitles from the menu before playing the show - the audio and subtitle buttons on my remote wouldn't work. The special features on my disks all worked properly.

This is a show I will watch again.

5 out of 5 stars The best anime out there!.......2004-10-07

It is one of the Magical Girl type shows that steals your heart. It is my favorite of all the animes out there. There is action, adventure, comedy, romance, and perhaps the best part of season one is that even the bad guys are good in their own way. Mokona gives this anime 2 paws (and one shiny jewel) up!

5 out of 5 stars good series.......2004-09-26

this is a very good series, it can also be found at bestbuy.com and rightstuf.com for less $$ rightstuf.com sells almost only anime and has great deals

5 out of 5 stars Good Stuff.......2004-07-28

I love this Anime. I've seen all the episodes, and while the box looks like something from Photoshop, that's no reason to not like the series. As for the dialog/"acting" If you look at the Original Star Wars Trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) The acting is HORRIBLE, but does that stop it from being a great movie, NO because it's STAR WARS for cryin' out loud, just like this is MKR, created by CLAMP, one of the best Manga production companies on the PLANET. This series, unlike most "kids" anime, is not cheesy to the point of projectile vomiting but is not overly graphic. It walks sort of a middle path, making it universally enjoyable. 5/5.
