Jackie Chan makes a brief guest appearance in this surreally goofy action comedy, a high-spirited shambles from 1982 that hovers awkwardly somewhere between Monty Python and The Three Stooges. When all else fails, cult director Chu Yen-ping (Island of Fire) resorts to exploding cigars, guys making funny faces, men dressed in women's clothing, even a ghost or two. The nominal star, '70s kung fu veteran Wang Yu (The One-Armed Swordsman), is an Allied agent assembling a troupe of commandos for a mission behind enemy lines during World War II. (Although the landscape is obviously Asian, there are Hogan's Heroes-style Nazis scampering through the jungle.) Every member of this movie's mismatched clown-squad seems to hail from a different planet, including one inexplicable fellow who looks like an Elvis impersonator in a kilt. Most of the exhilarating action is handled by the glorious Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia, from Peking Opera Blues and The Bride with White Hair, who kicks heads and looks smashing in a red-and-black-leather jumpsuit. --David Chute

Customer Reviews:
CONCERNS WITH DOCTRINAL TRUTHS!!.......2007-05-21
I must admit that I found these movies to be very enertaining and visually stunnning. Good art work and good consept. You now.. the spiritual battels and all... BUT I have my concerns when it comes to depicting accurate Biblical turths about demons and angels. Like angels sinning or that the demons seem to MAKE the humans sin. Also the lach of scripture. I love the concept but if we remove God frome the piture, even a picture with angels in it, we bring God down and make him no more than a tool for human use not the Lord of all creation.
I urge Parents to deeply consider how these movies water down the truth and the implications that that may bring.
Awesome Carttons!.......2007-04-02
We used these cartoons in our church and our kids watch them constantly at home. When we showed them they seemed to interest kids ages 4 to 13. The music is awesome and the message is fantastic. We highly recommend all three Angel Wars episodes and we hope they come out with more soon.
The Best Out There.......2006-12-05
All three episodes should be in every DVD home (and public) library...in the world ! This is not an exaggeration. These three titles are THAT good! Clever, creative storylines that inspire, encourage, and embolden--AngelWars are more than a cartoon story taken from between the lines of Scripture, they are a unique "behind the scenes" look at the spiritual battle being waged day and night for the hearts and souls of all people. If this sounds "schultzy",
than don't take my word for it--buy all three for yourself and see the "other world" that collective creative genius Team Angel Wars has created. You will watch it again and again.
~CD & Ethan Lee
Bring On the Angel Wars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-08-11
Wow! I had seen the DVD on the shelf for weeks and thought it was just another weak, wanna be children's video. Boy was I wrong! This tape is packed with action, adventure, character building lessons and fun, fun, fun! But I wouldn't recommend it for children under 6 (maybe even 8)One last star would have been given for more scripturally accurate dialog. Over all, I'd buy the second one as well.
Christian Theme that Kids will Stand Up For.......2006-07-26
Our kids (4 and 3) love this movie. when we first received it they watched it four times. lots of sword fighting action, good vs evil, our kids want to be guardian angels now! AWESOME!!

WE'LL DO WHAT YOU NEED FOR A FEE.......2004-07-15
Grrl Power is the story of 3 elementary school dropouts who open a handyman, actually, a handygirl shop. That means they do tasks that others don't have the time or the inclination to do. For example, delivering a fisherman's lunch from his wife via jet ski, or making a girl break up with her boyfriend. Yes, they do charge a fee, but it's for a good cause. They want to buy an island where they can create their own nation away from the boring everyday lives of grownups.
Of the three girls, Sora is the loudest and seems to be the leader. Umi is the glamorous beauty who uses her looks to get what she wants. The last girl, Ao, is deaf and uses sign language and facial movements to communicate. She might just be the wisest of the three.
In this first and only volume so far, one of their classmates shows up trying to convince the 3 girls to come back to school. Strangely, we never hear about the girl's parents. They seem to live alone with no adult supervision. Of course, this is a comic world. They refuse to go back to school because they don't believe they learn anything there. Just then, a crying lady shows up at their door, begging for their assistance. Ironically, the woman asks the 3 girls to convince HER computer addicted son to go to school. It seems that, like them, he sees no use for public education. Well, suffice it to say, the girls just might have taken on their hardest case yet.
Director Akitaro Daichi self-produced this anime with the help of his friends. While it is based on a manga, Daichi originally conceived of it as an anime, but couldn't find backing for it, so he did a manga, figuring if that was successful, he would be able to carry out his original anime idea. The result is a very entertaining, if brief, one shot dvd.
Especially noteworthy is the character of Ao, probably the first anime character to communicate through sign language. She's not treated in the usual Hollywood style of sentimentality and parody. Ao operates as an equal and actually steals the show. The show never swims in cuteness, it's just plain funny.
My only complaint is that it's only one episode of 25 minutes. I understand that the director did it himself without the help of a production company so even doing one episode was probably a stressful experience. I guess if this dvd is successful, there will be more episodes. By the way, this was one of the first dvds to be simultaneously released in the US and Japan at the same time.
There's lots of extras on the dvd. There's a 45 minute interview with the director, which is really too much. I found myself looking out the window of the room in which he was being interviewed, because the guy just kept going and going. I didn't quite make it through. There's also a feature at an anime festival where Grrl Power was premiered. You get to see the Japanese voice actresses and even get a sign language lesson. The dvd also includes a commentary and interviews with the English voice actresses. Production sketches, Question and Answers with Japanese Voice Actresses in print form.
Highly recommended. Hopefully, someday there will be more Grrl Power!

Great Trash.......2006-12-16
Pauline Kael once said that movies are so rarely art, that if you can't enjoy great trash, there is not much point for one to go to the movies. Well, this demented film is trash of the greatest order, a movie so bad it's wonderful. It stars Hong Kong luminaries Jackie Chan (in a small role, despite its prominent billing role) and Brigitte Lin, and unlike Ed Wood movies, this film is deliberately bad, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining.
GREAT! B-Movie Weirdness! Nazis, Japs, Amazons, and Kung-Fu!.......2006-07-04
One of the best B-movies, crazy kung-fu, WW2-ish, fantasy. Truly bizarre plot, nazis & japanese attack ;? canada? capture 4 generals - one from france, one from England, one from Africa, and one from america - Abraham Lincoln!, take them to Luxumboug! the army choses guy captain to form a team to rescue them. including the escape artist guy, the explosives guy, the old west Elvis impersonator guy, his psycho girlfriend, weird asian Scottish highlander guy, and his sidekick dressing in roman armor. Jackie Chan is a theif the team runs into and he helps - some. they are captured by Amazones, escape a haunted house, and finally have a show down with the 70's car chariot riding Nazis & Japs. Most everyone dies. Jackie revenges them. bizzare and sureal plot, quite a bit of good kung-fu action. lots of B-movie sets, and costumes. just great! taking it for what it is
An Offer Jackie Couldn't Refuse, But Maybe You Should.......2005-08-12
Bottom line: Jackie Chan owed Jimmy Wang Yu a favor, but apparently so do a lot of people. I wouldn't recommend this movie, but do recommend reading about how it came about in Jackie's autobiography "I Am Jackie Chan: My Life in Action".
What a piece of %$#@! Has almost NO Jackie Chan. .......2005-03-27
Last June I had an operation and I was on morphine for several days. This movie could have been a weird dreams I had. It certainly isn't entertaining, intelligent, functional, or anything. It makes no sense, has no humor, has very little action, has no point and goes downhill from worthless. A few minutes into the movie, it turns into something else and has no explanation how it got there.
It reminds me of some of the stories I have heard of movie albums that were required under a contract even though the singer/band was fed up with the company. They come up with the absolute worst album they could come up with. This movie could fit into that category. It is painful to watch even a few minutes.
For the person who put this in the same category as Naked Gun, I disagree.
UH!!!.......2004-06-18
Could someone tell me what this movie is about. No one that's what I though. There is magic in this movie the person that does Jackie's voice must have swalloed helium before he did Jackie's voice, Jackie is there for two seconds the quality sounds awful and so do the gun shots and the back cover is not even straight. so please DON'T REMIND ME OF THIS MOVIE AGAIN and for your sake DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible.......2003-10-11
I gave this 2 stars only because of Jackie Chan's presence. But then, he really isn't in all of "Master With Cracked Fingers". Apparently the filmmakers ran out of money and then tried to finish the film later, but Jackie is not in the whole movie. They substitute a very obvious imposter for him in many scenes. It is so obvious that it makes the story hard to follow, since from time to time a different character appears.
Both films are in 4:3 format, and look like they were taken from bad VHS masters. They look and sound horrible. No matter how much you love Jackie (and I do), avoid this set!
Master With Cracked Fingers/Fantasy Mission Force.......2001-02-25
The dialogue is not completely audible and the DVD transfer is a mess. There are constant screen artifacts that plagues both movies throughout. The Fantasy Mission Force movie is basically a cameo appearance for Jackie Chan. The Chinese to English translation dubbing wasn't translated corrected and turned what you can hear into a lame attempt at humor. Master With Cracked Fingers was advertised as Jackie Chan's first staring role. It is too bad this DVD was made so badly. I seen it sold at Best Buy . . .
Jackie Chan Value.......2000-12-23
This is good old fashioned Jackie Chan Fun And it is at a great price. If you are a Jackie fan then this is a great addition to your collection
