Customer Reviews:
Bruce shines in this, his best the lot.......2007-05-22
I love this movie and still think its Lee at his best. Between the scene of him as a very awkward phone repairman, and the scene where he takes on a horde of bad guys with Nunchucks, this is his most complete performance on screen to me and showed his talent at its best. This transfer is of a much better quality than most of the releases out there of this movie. If you ever wanted to see just how good and talented Bruce was, just watch this one and find out.
The story is standard for these movies but Lee bumps the action and the acting up to give this one it's true classic reputation.
This is a review of the Laugh Track version.......2006-07-12
I wanted to like this but in the behind the scenes interviews they show little respect for Bruce Lee and that got me started off on the wrong foot. Then I watch it and it just isn't that clever. I did laugh once or twice but i expected something more along the lines of What's Up Tiger Lilly. At least they could have had the actors play orientals. Too bad because this concept could have been funny.
Sound is bad but the movie is good.......2006-06-12
The voices are dubed in and it is in a deep voice but there a some great fight seens but if you want to see a really good Bruce Lee movie get Enter the Dragon. The Chinese Connection is still a good movie
Authentic Bruce Lee.......2006-03-04
such a low rating for this movie! thats why i put my 5 stars here. this is the most authentic bruce lee you can ever watch. absurd soundtrack , fat guy ... really does not matter. its a purely raw kung fu classic, tenfold the sum of its parts!
one of the best, just so happens it was one of the first.......2006-03-02
Chinese connection will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved everything in this movie. If they didn't have that fat guy fighting bruce with a sword, this would be my favorite movie ever. The acting job by everybody was superb, also the soundtrack was really well applied to the different scenes. The action isn't up there with Fist of Legend, but it was the best for it's time, and I mean a long time. The kick at the end where the Japanese guy flies like 20 ft, that is actually Jackie Chan, so you are actually checking out the beginning of Jackie's career also.

Customer Reviews:
"Hello George, I am Michael, the boss is waiting for you upstairs". "Good", he says very evil like........2006-06-18
B movie at it's best but KUNG FU. Black Belt Jones is back and HE is the one that is gonna take bruce's place. He got on the train and fell off quick, but Jim Kelly had a few pretty good movies. This is definitelyone of them. Add in Lee Hoi-sang, Dorian Tan(delon tan), Bolo, Sing Chen, tony leung sei hung ( a great action director) and a couple of other stars I can't put a name to, and you have a really alomst good kung fu flick.
So some diamonds are stolen of course and Jim kelly shows up to track down the robbers. He says-"they call me the black 6 milion dollar man". AHHHHH the cheese, it is good cheese, but just liek anything, you can get too much of it. So save a litle for later if you need to, cause this is a classic and may take two sittings to get through the greatness of it. Sadly it gets REALLY borign at the midway point. So finally the ending comes around and is very unspectacular, but you do get 2 good fights, opne with jim and bolo, other with dorian tan and sing chen. All in all, worth a peek if you are a mega fan like me. And if you don't belieev me about the cheese, then here is the evry last line of the movie. "I'll see you on christmas". They may have finished this movie in 2 days time. For real.
TYPICAL 1970'S........ CHOP SOCKY!!.......2004-07-23
Pathfinder Pictures?,never heard of them. While I'm pleased this movie was released on DVD,I am very disappointed with the picture and sound quality. This is one of the worst video transfers I have ever seen and the sound is not far behind.Obviously no money went into restoring this movie for it's release on DVD and that's ashame for Jim Kelly fans.Make no mistake, this movie has nothing to do with the martial art's classic Black Belt Jones.Jim kelly had a supporting role in Enter The Dragon and he didn't really get a chance to show us what he could do.In "The Tattoo Connection" he is the main guy,but once again this movie doesn't really showcase his talent either.I struggled to give this movie 3 stars, but hey it's Jim Kelly. This is a typical 1970's chop socky movie that could have been much better. For martial arts and Kelly fans the fight scene between Kelly and Bolo Yeung is still pretty good. The tattoo Connection is still an entertaining movie, but I definitely think the price is too much considering the poor picture and sound quality.
BLACK BELT JONES 2 ? NEVER HEARD OF IT.......2003-06-08
This typical Hong Kong 1970's kung fu flick has now been re-released as BLACK BELT JONES 2, although originally released as THE TATTOO CONNECTION.Obviously the distributers have called it BBJ2 to tie in with the popularity of the original movie. This movie is no BBJ but it's quite entertaining if you are a Kelly fan.The film is let down by a scene where a rather choppy fight scene goes horribly wrong, the illusion is ruined and the fight looks fake. What's more, Jim Kelly is hardly in this movie and looks a bit of a fool surrounded by all those unknown Chinese actors.
The Tattoo Connection for Kelly fans!.......2003-05-15
This film is for die hard Jim Kelly fans! "The Tattoo Connection" (TTC) is promoted as "Black Belt Jones 2" although it has no connection with the original Kelly classic. The producers of this title probably used the tie in to entice the casual fan to check this DVD out based on the popularity of "Black Belt Jones." The plot is sketchy as Kelly's secret agent character Lucas is given the assignment of retrieving a stolen diamond some where in Asia. The film never really gathers up enough steam to be considered as a top rate martial arts offering. However, TTC is at its best when Kelly is on the screen (as the star Kelly is notoriously absent during several rather long sequences) chopping up guys and laying down that ultra smooth soul brother rap. The highlight of the film occurs during the climatic fight on a ship were Kelly goes toe to toe with fellow "Enter the Dragon" alumni Bolo Yeung in a fight to the death. Kelly is fit and in fine form through out TTC. It's a shame that he wasn't given more to do in this effort it might have raised the over all quality of the film.
what do i remember about THE TATTOO CONNECTION?.......2002-12-29
i remember watching this 70s jim kelly classic on saturday afternoon tv in new york when a local tv station played kung fu movies every week. ah those were the good ol' days of the late 70s/80s. THE TATTOO CONNECTION sticks out as the best of those kung fu flicks i have seen. i remember jim kelly ... as an agent named lucas sent overseas to find some diamond. i remember some goofy disco theme song titled 'diamond'. i remember a good car chase scene with kelly at some lumber or junk yard. i remember kelly making love to an asian girl while switching drinks where 1 contained a drug meant for him but the girl wound up drinking it and got high. i remember jim kelly telling his bosses that he's "the black six million dollar man". i remember in the bad dubbing 1 of the bad guys called kelly not lucas but "black man!" racist! i remember the climax on a ship and kelly kicking rear. what else? that's all i know. i am just happy that TATTOO CONNECTION will be out on dvd in april (why so many delays after original dates of feb., march 25 and now april 22?!) and i will buy it. hope it will be widescreen and remastered. i will have a good time. congrats to pathfinder video for releasing this treasure, ok 3 1/2 stars. if only they can put out other old kung fu classics like STREETS GANGS OF HONG KONG, STONER (w/ george lazenby post-007), DUEL OF THE IRON FIST. A HARD WAY TO DIE, SLAUGHTER IN SAN FRANCISCO with chuck norris, & ROOTS OF EVIL (with christian anders---who?).
it is june 9, and FINALLY, i bought THE TATTOO CONNECTION which sadly it isn't letterboxed and it is in need of windex w/ its filthy film prints. still, i had a good time. the fighting is surprising ly terrific and jim kelly is very good. to my surprise there is a lotta (A LOT! ) nudity that wasn't in the U.S. print when it first came out in theaters. there is commentary by 2 film critics who sound like a combo of beavis and butthead, dennis miller (one of 'em sounds like him) and MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000. and it is helpful and hilarious. 4 stars! if only those 2 critics can poke fun @ george lazenby's awful acting and kung-fu-ing in STONER.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, A GOOD OLD-FASHIONED RIP OFF.......2007-06-23
Amazon should ban sellers of this DVD. It looks like someone copied a VHS to DVD. It sounds like James Earl Jones is doing voice overs FOR EVERY CHARACTER, women included. And there are no sound effects during the fights. I almost want to sue the seller, on principle alone.
What a disappointment!.......2007-04-11
DO NOT BUY THIS DVD, IT'S A COMPLETE RIPOFF!
I'm a big fan of Bruce Lee. I thought this double feature would be a good bargain for the price. Well, you really get what you pay for.
The quality of picture and sound is so terrible that you sometimes can't even see or hear the characters. I'm truly surprised that this 'piece of garbage' is still on the market after all this time.
Somebody, please take it OFF! It's an insult to Bruce Lee and his fans.
defective transfer.......2006-06-24
not only does the quality of this dvd suck, the side with the chinese connection runs at about 85% speed, so everyone sounds like james earl jones - even the women.
keeeRAP.
How about zero stars?.......2005-12-16
It's a good thing I only paid $3.00 for this at Goodwill. As everyone says, the quality sucks and the vocal quality in Chinese Connection is inexcusable...Bruce has a voice like lurch. What the hell were the jerks at Madacy thinking? Lee would reach in their rib cages and rip out their hearts!
bruce lee is the man!!!!!.......2003-08-16
while i agree the transfer is not as good as some dvds, it's really not all that bad people, and you get 2 movies for the price of one dvd. i thought this was worth my ten dollars, and you can't deny how good these classics really are. they're not as good as enter the dragon, but they are awesome movies.

Sinewy, sleek, and oozing charisma, Bruce Lee brought sex appeal to the martial arts genre, dominating even the most cliché-riddled adventures with his mix of good-humored geniality and focused intensity. His first film, the low-budget Hong Kong adventure Fists of Fury (as it was titled in the U.S.), is exactly that: a raw, rough-edged revenge drama of a country boy who uncovers a heroin-smuggling ring. Yet the film comes alive when Lee pounces into action, his wiry, well-muscled frame erupting in lightning moves. His follow-up, The Chinese Connection, keeps the revenge theme going for a tale of a kung fu student who avenges his teacher's death at the hands of a Japanese rival. The international success of both films enabled the increasingly ambitious Lee to write and direct his own feature, Return of the Dragon, a more-comic tale of a Chinese country boy who travels to Rome to help out cousins under the thumb of local mobsters. Though filled with excellent martial arts bouts, all choreographed by Lee, the highlight is a death match between Lee and karate champion Chuck Norris in the Roman Colosseum. Lee died before completing his last feature, Game of Death, and a rather unconvincing double runs around much of the film between footage of the real Lee, but the climax features an impressive bout with basketball star and Lee student Kareem Abdul-Jabar. Though a cut above most martial arts movies of the period, these are no masterpieces, but then who watches a Bruce Lee film for the story? In these films, plot is simply there for the scenes between Lee's amazing fight sequences. The documentary Bruce Lee: The Legend completes the collection. --Sean Axmaker
Customer Reviews:
THE MASTER COLLECTION OF BRUCE LEE.......2006-05-16
i bought this set at a used dvd store for $15.00 and was very happy to find it. watching it i was struck by how much talent and energy this man had! had he lived he would have one of the most bankable stars in the world.to be sure these are low buget action movies, but mr. lee brought a style to them that no other actor could have brought, his every move was a graceful and well thought out move, even just walking down the street. these are all the films he made(except for enter the dragon which he made for warner bros.) and he shines in them all,(game of death the movie he was making when he died is very weak and only comes alive when they use the footage of him that was shot) and if you love lee or good kung-fu movies this is one to own
I GOT THIS AT BESTBUY FOR 19.99, GO CHECK IT OUT........2006-03-16
This is easily one of the best investments to my collection, I mean 4/5 of bruce lee's movies, and a documentary.
Now fisrt of all, all of these movies are the original dub and very watchable picture.
Fist of fury(Big Boss)----- very fun movie with bruce beating up a lot of people. The end fight is prettygood because it was so authentic. Pai ying is the man, he is also the action coordinator on this.
Chinese Connection(Fist Of Fury)------ One of the best movies of all time. Great fight scenes(check it out when he takes on the whole gym), great score, great acting, hell, even Lo wei is an actor in this movie, and he is pretty freaking good.
Return of the dragon(enter the dragon) directed by bruce lee, action directed by bruce lee, and starrign bruce lee. Come on bruce, you could have put your name as composer too. This movie kicks ass, better than big boss, but not as good as chinese connection. Everyone knows this is the one where bruce fights chuck norris at the end. And it is everythign it is made out to be, certainly not the best though.
Game of death---this is your classic case of fastforwarding kungfu cinema. The fight scenes are pretty good, but a VERY FORGETTABLE story.
Documentary-------very good doc. that talks a lot about what bruce was planning for game of death(sounds sweet), and what other characters he wa experimenting with for hsi future movies. Can you believe he had a blind swordsman idea in mind for himself. There is a lot of other important info also. 5/5 for the documentary, good for any bruce fan.
So I have seen this at cd tradepost for 14.99, and 19.99 at Best buy, so I don't know where the hell that $38 price comes from.
Great product.......2005-10-14
Amazon has great customer service. The Bruce Lee Collection was new- still in its original packaging and still at a great price.

Three for the price of one.......2006-06-08
I've always been a huge fan of Bolo Yeung and would take him over Jackie Chan any day of the week. These three films are not exactly Bolo Yeung most successful roles. His role in all three is minor and you will rarely see him and by that I mean rarely.
He plays a thug in all three who works for some mafia boss. The quality of the packing is very good but the picture on all three is of poor quality. It was transferred from some VHS tape and it feels like you're watching the tape instead of DVD. I suppose that's the reason why the dvd is so cheap in new condition. You get what you pay for but it is still worth seeing. If not buying than rental.
FORGET IT.........2006-02-09
Sorry, but I only like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chen. Who is gonna even try to look for some third class actor movies? Jet Li is the third star, but Bruce is the best, he is my brother and all...
