Customer Reviews:
Bad movie, still some fun action.......2006-09-06
The movie is about Chen Sing as an army trainer and Yasuaki Kurata as a japanese spy. So I thnk Kurata comes into China to help the Japanese conquer China. Eh, somethin like that. This movie is like 110 minues long and I have to admit I drifted off a few times. With charaters like Joker and some others who I didn't care for, I guess I was trying to drift off.
So Chen Sing joins this gang so he can investigate a brothel where women are being sold as prostitutes. It just so happens that Kurata and his 'bodyguard' are staying there. So of course they find out that Chen Sing is an undercover but then it all turns to crap and we get left with a 20 minute long final fight! It was super unspectacular but with these 2 huge kung fu stars going at it, I had a very good time watching it.
Now I am reviewing a version of this that came in a brentwood 10 pack along with snake crane secret, black samurai, image of bruce lee...
Picture quality on that 10 pack is full screeend and a lot of ropes like the last reviewier described from being a vhs transfer. Also even though this movie is like 110 miunutes long, they do seem to still cut out a ton of scenes.
Be aware that I am not reviewing the 1969 Chang Cheh swordplay film that goes by the same name as this. Doubtful you will find an American version of that film. This movie is a Ng see-yeun film from 1972 and there are no swords in it. ALso I need to point out that the 10 pack I got has the chang cheh film listed on the back cover, not so, the movie I reviewed is the one in the 10 pack.
Too many rope lines.......2004-03-18
aka HAND OF DEATH , THE GOOD AND THE BAD ,HUNGRY TIGER & CRAZY DRAGON.Great movie, good action, lovely in widescreen BUT too many rope lines on picture.Rope line = caused by constant rewinding of 35mm or 16mm print.I guess they manage to find one last print in the archives and transfer it to dvd.Pricesy for bad transfer of dvd.Company should sell it for minimum $4.99
