Old Eight Palms (Basic Eight Palms) was originated by Dong Haichuang of Qing Dynasty and imparted by mater Li Ziming. As the fundamental of Bagua Zhang, it is practiced along a circle consisted with eight steps which stand for the eight diagrams set by ancestor Fu and Xi. They are Qian, Kun, Ji, Li, Zhen, Kan, Xun and Dui.
