Not as good as the WATP series.......2007-07-03
I went through the 4 segments on this DVD for my workout - the 3 1-mile walks and the 10-minute stretch. I was disappointed because I expected a better quality workout from an industry leader like Denise Austin. While doing all 3 walking segments at once did get me sweating, the routines were difficult to follow because there were little, if any, queues to take you to the next move. I clumsily stumbled along for most of the workout, which I hate to do. The only redeeming thing about the DVD was that it at least kept me moving at a fast pace, regardless of whether or not I was able to decipher what she was about to do next, but I didn't have to spend the money to do that!
This is one of my favorite workout DVDS............2007-06-27
I love this workout DVD. It's short (15 minutes for each workout) and intense. In 15 minutes, I really work up a sweat, so if I don't have much time, I still get a good cardio workout. The moves are not too difficult to do, but there is enough variety to make it interesting. And if I want, I can do one 15-minute segment, or any combination of them for an extra intense workout. The stretching segment is good; in fact, I like all the segments and choose them based on how I feel and what I feel like doing!
Great bang for the buck!.......2007-06-15
I recently joined Weight Watchers and have begun the process of getting myself into better physical shape again. I wanted to increase my activity and fitness levels as well as eating better. This DVD has been a great one for me to get me exercising again. I like that it's only 15 minutes, but has a really good level of intensity. There are times when I can barely carve out 15 minutes in a day to exercise, so this is perfect for me. I also like that there are varying levels of intensity depending which program you do. For me, this DVD is awesome!
I know some people think that Denise is "too perky" or whatever, but I don't think that at all. If I were as fit and successful as her, I'd darn sure be perky too. ;) Maybe one day I'll be able to smile and beam as I exercise too.
I give this high recommendations every chance I get.
good for beginner.......2007-06-01
this is pretty good, especially if you haven't worked out for a while. It would have been good to know that you need a couple of items (chair, hand weights) but it's good and got me sweating
Fast walk..........2007-05-20
If you aren't an experienced walker or exerciser don't buy this dvd. It is a good work out and it comes with difficulty levels.

Customer Reviews:
Surprising but I loved it.......2007-06-28
I wasn't sure I'd like this, some of the instructors tend to annoy me on certain dvds I have but Marie is actually really cute. She's not cheesy at all, she's just fun. All the movements are really fun. Not too complicated but the Crunch dvds make you sweat! I like the music on this one too.
Fast and Fun.......2007-06-28
I ordered this DVD to help me loose weight after the birth of my twins. Well it seems really fast paced to me. I had a hard time keeping up and doing the moves the first couple of times. But it was a lot of fun and a good workout so I paused the dvd after every new move sequence and I practiced until I felt coordinated enough to keep up with them, I even wrote it down. Now I have it memorized and I can keep up and have fun..
Fun, simple workout.......2007-06-20
Marie is a great instructor - her cues are right on target and she is upbeat without being annoying. The dance moves are fun. Overall I really like this workout, but it only gets 4 stars because I tend to watch the clock more with this DVD than with my other workouts. The moves can get a bit repetitive at times.
dance workout.......2007-06-12
this is a fun exercise routine--easy to learn, motivating, work up a moderate sweat, but not a terribly strenuous workout. It's one I look forward to doing, even in the early morning.
Very Fun.......2007-05-28
I find this fun and challenging enough to keep me interested. Marie has a fun personality and I like that the girls are of all different shapes, types and ability levels. It's tough the first time or two but hang in and it's really a work out you can enjoy.

Coasting on the successes of Gods and Monsters and George of the Jungle, Brendan Fraser turns in yet another winning performance in this fish-out-of-water comedy in which Pleasantville meets modern-day Los Angeles, with predictably funny results. Fraser stars as Adam, who was born in the bomb shelter of his paranoid inventor dad (a less-manic-than-usual Christopher Walken), who spirited his pregnant wife (Sissy Spacek, in fine comic form) underground when he thought the Communists dropped the bomb (actually, it was a plane crash). Armed with enough supplies to last 35 years, the parents bring up Adam in Leave It to Beaver style with nary any exposure to the outside world. When the supplies run out, and dad suffers a heart attack, Fraser goes up to modern-day L.A. for some shopping and long-awaited culture shock. More of a cute premise with lots of clever ideas attached than a fully fleshed out story, Blast from the Past is also supposed to be part romantic comedy, as the hunky Adam hooks up with his jaded Eve (Alicia Silverstone) and tries to convince her to marry him and go underground. The sparks don't fly, though, because Silverstone is saddled with the triple whammy of being miscast, playing an underwritten character, and suffering a very bad hairdo. Fraser, however, carries the film lightly and easily on his broad, goofy shoulders, mixing Adam's gee-whiz innocence with genuine emotion and curiosity; only Fraser could pull off Adam's first glimpse of a sunrise or the ocean with both humor and pathos. Also winning is Dave Foley as Silverstone's gay best friend, who manages to make the most innocuous statements sound like comic gems. --Mark Englehart
Customer Reviews:
Very funny and entertaining romantic comedy .......2007-05-20
Perfect vehicle for Brenden Fraser. Good script, cast, comedic timing. I have watched it 3 times. I like more each time
Fun movie with Walken and Fraser shining.......2007-05-14
The movie has a good pace, with a lot of screen time dedicated to
Fraser and Walken, who give fresh and fun performances. Spacek
also gives a solid performance. Some parts drag, like the whole
gag about the bartender turned cult leader, and Silverstone is just
god awful. But otherwise, there's some quirky humor from Walken's
paranoid character and also some good lines from Fraser when he
meets 'reality'. Cute and upbeat overall. An overlooked film that is
certainly better than most of the comedy garbage out there.
good info.......2007-05-11
Lots of helpful info for everybody. You never know when you may be in this situation.
Great romantic comedy.......2007-03-28
The first time I saw this movie I watched because of the actors. Alicia Silverstone, and Brendon Fraiser. I have enjoyed both actors in other movies, and Blast from the Past is no different. I am a fan of Brendon Fraiser, he has such a great comedic sense, and in this movie gives a great performance. I particularly like the scene in the 40"s dance club. The swing dancing really captured my attention. All in all this is a great movie to add to your collection.
A Blast to Watch!.......2007-03-17
A paranoid scientist builds a full sized home in a large nuclear bomb shelter for his pregnant wife. A plane crash that he thinks is a bomb prompts him to whisk his wife down below, and they live in the shelter with enough supplies for 35 years.
But the father has an apparent cardiac episode in the early 1990s, and so they send their son (Adam) to the earth to buy supplies. He meets a beautiful girl named (surprise!) Eve, who befriends him and helps him to find his way in the world.
There are many funny and entertaining moments, and Brendan Fraser does a great job of playing the well educated, well behaved son. I lover it when he tells the guy at the memorabilia store to stop taking the Lord's name in vain. The store owner says "Why, do you have a problem with it?" Adam says "Yes, I have a BIG problem with it!"
Adam not only has a lot to learn from the world, but the world has a lot to learn from him. This was one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a while.

Richard Simmons: 60's Blast Off.......2007-05-30
I have to admit being a little apprehensive about buying this but, now, I'm glad that I did. It's easy once you get into the swing. If you grew up in the 60's you'll remember the dances so it will come back to you.
Buy it! Definitely worth the risk.

wonderful exercise tape with Richard Simmons! I Love it.
Too short.......2007-03-30
This tape is only about 30 minutes long so it's not a very good value.
They show the other people too often so that it is hard to follow at first. They show the people smiling and having fun but fail to show you what the moves are.

The video got me up and moving as I had hoped it would do. The music was lame, so if you are hoping for the real 60's sound, skip this.

This is it. The last Nightwish concert with Tarja. Includes 2 CDS and 1 DVD. A real deal considering the $17.99 pre-order. A steal. I guess it was going to happen sooner or later with Tarja having two careers. I don't think her career will be the same after Nightwish. She sings opera and I own a lot of it and she doesn't have the voice to be a front line opera singer. I don't think either side will be the same in this breakup. Sad to see it end this way. This concert and CD set is our last great memory of them.FIN!!!

don't waste your time or money.......2007-07-02
This is a terrible terrible kickboxing workout. The production values are from 1978, Ms. Austin's cueing is non-existant and most egregiously, Austin has the presence of a bag of hair.
If you want to actually break a sweat try the Janis Saffell Hardcore Kickboxing.
not beginner / clutzy friendly.......2007-06-13
I love Denise Austin's workouts, usually, but I really can't get into this one. I am a clutz and one of the reasons I like denise austin is her aerobics are usually more simplistic for people like me who can't do the aerobic moves fast. this video is one I can't get through because I can't follow in sync and get frustrated.
Great Quick Workout.......2007-05-15
Enjoyable workout!
if you don't like denise's perkiness or you focus more on the music/backdrop than the workout, you may not like this video.
Otherwise its alot of fun and a nice quick 20min workout. (2 20 min sessions)
the only downside is denise's queing is at her worst.
High energy, but can be frustrating to follow.......2007-05-15
I have mixed feelings about this one. On the positive side, it is very fast paced and very high energy, especially compared to other Denise Austin workouts. Some of her cardio routines do not raise my heart rate enough to be effective, but this one certainly does. The first segment is a 20 minute kickboxing workout. Be forewarned that this segment features several high impact moves including jumping jacks, "jumping rope" and even some plyometric jumps, though you could probably modify most of the high impact moves if necessary.
The second 20 minute segment features intervals of cardio alternated with toning exercises using hand weights. The cardio portions include some "dancy" moves, but they are straightforward mambos and shuffles, nothing complicated. The brief toning intervals focus on upper body and are pretty much an afterthought. Denise keeps saying you will see results, but with so few reps I really doubt it. Also no abs segment in this workout. For muscle toning Denise has far superior workouts available, particularly her Personal Training System.
In my opinion, the big negative to this tape is Denise's awful cuing. As others have mentioned, she's at her worst in this one. I've done Denise's workouts so I'm always prepared for bad cuing and instruction, but no Denise Austin workout has frustrated me as much as this one. She doesn't tell you how many of a move to do, nor does she count them down. Sometimes I can determine a pattern, but not always. She frequently goes into a completely new routine with no warning and no explanation of what you are to do, so be prepared for that clueless feeling the first time you do the tape. There's one segment where she arbitrarily switches back and forth between knee lifts and leg kicks, all the while completely off step. In the mambo/v-step segment in workout 2, she keeps saying "last one" and then does the move 2 or 3 more times.
I've done this workout 5 or 6 times and I still struggle with it. If you are a laid back person who is happy to follow along the best you can and not stress over mistakes, the bad cuing may not be an issue for you. If you are more of a perfectionist like me, this workout can drive you nuts! Even the participants look frazzled at times.
Yes the set is cheesy and outdated, and the music is a 1970s disco time warp. I can overlook those things. And I can deal with Denise's peppiness, though during the final stretch she gives a "you're worth it" speech where she sounds a lot like Mr. Rogers as he changes shoes and prepares to go. I tend to chuckle at that part. Overall this is an effective workout, if you can deal with the frustration of following the routines.
Non intimidating intro to kickboxing.......2007-04-17
This was my first kickboxing DVD and I chose it because I've got several Denise Austin DVD's and figured this would be a good introduction. It definitley gets your heart rate up in both the cardio and interval training segments. She's a bit hard to follow and her cueing is on the bad side, but after you do it a couple of times, it's not too bad. My real complaint here is the music and the set. Where does she come up with her music? This is a fun start and is a good work out.

Great Upper Body Workout.......2007-05-13
This is a good workout for your upper body, using 2 sets of light weights (not included with the dvd purchase). It's short, so it's easy to get through even if you're pressed for time. It doesn't focus much on the lower body, but there is an excellent ab workout and cool down at the end.
Suprisingly great workout!.......2007-04-29
I bought this in a kit and finally tried it and was so surprised to find that it is an all over great workout and actually challenged me! I'd never worked out to a Richard Simmons tape/dvd and was surprised by how much I enjoyed not only working out to this but his instruction! This is a complete body workout and I would buy this again!
Killer ab section on this workout!.......2007-02-18
I have always loved Richard Simmons. This workout requires two sets of weights but I was fine using the same set for both segments that used the hand weights. This is a great upper body workout. The bottom is targeted as well but with less intensity. The final segment of the DVD is a mat abs workout. This workout was tougher than most that I've seen. I know my abs will transform with this. Not sure about it if you have a neck problem. You can probably improvise. Maybe it was just my form that made my neck sore.
The warmup starts with the opening credits. It caught me off guard and I had a bit of a hard time following it but that was just after viewing the DVD once. I don't see this being a problem in the future.
This is a strong 30 minute routine that does hit every body part.
pump iron.......2007-02-14
I have always had great success with Richard Simmons tapes. This one is fun, energetic and you feel the burn! The crunches are very effective!
Totally believe.......2006-04-16
I have enjoyed Richard Simmons video's in the past, wanted to update to a toning video. I am totally enjoying working out with the weights, he was and is the most motivating instructor. He trully cares about people and wants them to succeed. I smile all the way threw. Thanks Richard Simmons.

Amazon.com essential video
If your favorite part of a football game is when the marching band takes the field, then you're going to love Blast. Think of the most rousing, in-sync band that you ever saw, turn them way up, add cool costumes and a black-and-white checkered stage with colored spotlights, throw in a good helping of the Stomp vibe, and you've got Blast.
Color is the theme that threads the different musical pieces together. Beginning with Ravel's Bolero, the audience is pulled into this new music/dance/theatre experience as the band takes the stage marching, twirling, and weaving. The performers aren't simply musicians--they dance, sing, act, and play their brass and drums. "Loss," in the Blue section of the color wheel, is particularly touching. Even the flag team--a very sexy and talented flag team--is represented. The Green section melds into a sober and lovely rendition of "Simple Gifts," then concludes quietly with Copland's Appalachian Spring. In the black light of "Battery Battle," you're pulled into the rhythm of the lone drummer, then dueling snare drums, and finally a row of energetic, blindfolded drummers who never miss a beat. "Medea" combines movement and music in a dramatic interpretation of Samuel Barber's piece, and, set to a dance-club beat, "Lemon Techno" is a flurry of yellow flags, poles, and sensuous movement. A spectacularly sultry "Malaguena" drenched in red ends the program.
It's easy to see why Blast is a PBS favorite. It's an amazing new type of performance--one that every high school marching band member will want to emulate. Included here is a 25-minute documentary, Music in Motion: The Making of Blast, which takes you behind the scenes to the conception of the show and into the ensemble's homes and lives as they perform in London's West End. --Dana Van Nest

Good if you like Blast.......2007-06-12
I bought this to show my students in band class at the end of the year. I enjoy this type of thing but when I saw it through there eyes, I realized that some parts of it are boring or seem weird. When I show it now, I skip through various parts. There are some dazzling displays of virtuosity and fans of Blast will definitely enjoy it. Those who like marching band will also enjoy it. The typical "man on the street" may not get into it.
VEY GOOD .......2007-05-07
This is GREAT Musical video i enjoy a lot IT'S GREAT, FINE, VERYGOOD AND MORE
Another Gem.......2007-01-18
I am a veteran marching member of the Drum and Bugle Corps fraternity.
I also had the extreme honor and pleasure of being instructed by Mr. Jim Mason and marching with his brother Marty in the Madison Scouts. Blast is the greatest testament to the talents of the Drum Corps fraternity.
BRAVO!
You thought this was good..........2006-02-16
You should see it live. One reviewer earlier mentioned that the DVD is a teaser, it may be to those who have seen the show, but to the uninformed, the DVD makes a great prepper.
Energy and Precision.......2006-02-15
This is simply the best DVD I have ever seen. I have seen the stage production, and the only thing missing from the DVD is the trumpet slide malfunction I witnessed (the tuning slide for the third valve flew off and landed on the side of the stage during some of the high speed movements. As a former trumpet player and drum major I may be slightly biased, but think about what they did...
Take the best few members of each marching bands in a couple counties and put together a Drum and Bugle Corps. Then let all the corps from across the country compete throughout high school and college, honing their skills. Many of them acquire degrees in music along the way. Then take the best members of those organizations who have just been kicked out because they are too old (over 21!) and put them on stage.
They are absolutely amazing, and are as capable physically as musically. One role (and there are several performers who have to be able to perform it) marches a route that comes towards the center of the stage while playing, takes their instrument down long enough to do a one-handed walkover, and resumes playing while still being in step with the rest of the group.
There is no other disc I watch as often as this. I came here to replace a disc that was burned when a friend's house was totalled.
Happy marching!!
