For the second season of the popular comedy-adventure Full Metal Panic (2003), the filmmakers dropped the sci-fi elements and focused on the romantic contretemps. Kaname no longer commands psychic powers; Sousuke has been furloughed from Mithril. But that doesn't mean life at Jindai High gets any calmer. Sousuke remains highly trained, extremely suspicious and terminally dense. When a girl leaves a love note in his locker, he notices the locker has been tampered with and blows it up. Unable to get through the line at the cafeteria, he fires off a pistol and declares his order. When a gang member tries to threaten Sousuke, someone has to translate thug slang into military jargon and vice versa. Kaname's standard response to Sousuke's excesses is to belt him with an outsized paper fan. Winning performances by voice actors Chris Patton and Luci Christian make Sousuke and Kaname the most fractious anime couple since Ranma Saotome met Akane Tendo. (Rated TV PG V: comic violence, minor risqué humor, tobacco use) --Charles Solomon

Description

It's Full Metal Pandemonium! Sousuke and Kaname are back in action! And this time, the battleground is the school ground! High-yield explosives and hilarity come together with a bang, as the somber soldier and his unwitting target brave everything from lovesick "terrorists" to an unforgiving teacher who is bent on revenge. But as good as he is with guns, Sousuke is one clueless commando when it comes to girls - especially Kaname! A day at the beach turns sour after Sousuke misses the point one too many times (and even fails to notice Kaname's new bikini). Then, when Kaname is suddenly kidnapped, it's up to our dense hero to devise a daring rescue! Don't miss the hilarious antics of everyone's favorite military maniac - and Jin High's most fiery female - as the full-throttle action begins!

5 out of 5 stars An Awesome Follow Up To Full Metal Panic!.......2006-06-22

Since Full Metal Panic! is my favorite anime show, it is only natural that I totally love the second season in the Full Metal Panic! franchise as well. Every episode of this series is jam-packed with hilarious situations, funny new characters, and more of Sousuke's crazy antics. Fans of Full Metal Panic! will greatly enjoy this show.

5 out of 5 stars FUNNY BEYOND EXPECTATION!!!.......2006-05-25

To begin with, it is definitely a very good show, something that I will explain later on.

Let us start with the outline of the story.

As the rest of the DVDs, this one has three stories going on:

One is when Sousuke will find that someone has opened his locker and obviously blow the school apart. In this episode is when Kaname will get the first taste of competition (the other and big time competition will be Tessa, see review on the 3rd DVD). The other episode is when Sousuke will forget Kaname's notes in his apartment. They will have only 45 min. available to go home, pick it up and go back to school before class starts or they may fail the class... ending up in being chased by the police... The other episode is when Kaname, Sousuke and the rest of the high-school `gang' will go to the sea; but, as usual fights, guns, jealousy and all sorts of things will be on the `daily menu' making the viewer cry from all the laughter...

Overall, FMP Fumoffu concentrates more on the `ordinary school life' and on comedy, in contrast to FMP which balanced between comedy and action with Mechas. Nobody dies but it is funny as hell.

Additionally, the current series combine comedy, romance and action. As for the voices, either you hear it in Japanese or dubbed, both versions are very satisfying.

Last but not least, the price is the usual one that is charged for separated DVDs (well, the obvious reason here for being a little but more example is that it comes with a series box), in contrast to FMP 1st season that comes out in a box set and is much cheaper.

As a side note, the last FMP series that is out there is called FMP overload and currently available only on some other sides which for obvious reasons I cannot name here.

The final question:
Buying it or not?

Having watched all the series, my humble opinion would be: Yes and I highly recommend the shows.

5 out of 5 stars Full Metal Fun.......2005-09-17

This is more of comedy than action anime and let say its pretty damn funny. There is no Robots but there is a hamster suit and its damn cool. Its basically just about sagura and chereei (cant spell her name) so if you like comedy Pick this dvd up

5 out of 5 stars Comedy Gold.......2005-07-12

This is worth at least ten times its weight in gold, it is comedy genius, absolutely hilarious. You can't beat watching Sousuke blow something up and then seeing the look on Chidori's face (which is is usually followed by a massive paper fan attack or from time to time wrestling holds).

The spoofs of other shows and films are well done but it is the situations Sousuke is placed in, his ludicrous reactions and Chidori's over reactions that make this must see stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Another Impressive Panic.......2005-07-07

First, if you read the manga, you would realize that this series is more of a supplemental than a sequal. Several mini-stories were delayed to make the first season more mecha-based. Second, Chidori is still a Whispered. Third, the title is based off the words of Sosuke (silent Japanese U) in a Bonta-Kun outfit. Fourth, more Panic can only be a good thing!

Someone related this to Ranma 1/2, but if you want more of than, see Kenshin. This series has some of the same woman-beats-on-man, but with a different twist. Chidori is trying desperately to teach Sosuke to deal with Real Life (as opposed to mercenary life--which is why he still attends high school, to protect his Whispered assignment). Sosuke takes her abuse, although in any other situation, he'd defend himself better, and that is just one symptom of his attraction to her. There are a lot of subtle references, and some not so, with these two, which makes the series all the more desirable to watch.

Romance! Guns! Comedy! Things blowing up! How could it get better? Oh, yeah, if Sosuke ever gained the courage to kiss Chidori...

I think that the animini dvd is a good idea.
It got me to like full metal panic. I only bought it because of the price. I paid three dollars. But, the dvd won't go into some dvd players.

I may buy more dvds. though, I don't think that i'm going to buy more full metal panic. (because the dvds are thirty dollars)

I have other series that I want more. (and because I have a friend who has the whole series)

5 out of 5 stars nifty.......2004-12-29

This is a very cool collector's item for any fan of this anime. Yes, it only has ONE episode but its VERY cool. Its the company's way of getting extra viewers by knocking the price down to get ONE episode to see if the viewer likes the show and wants to invest time into pursuing the show.
