This dark comedy from 1989 was a good showcase for Winona Ryder, playing a high school girl brought into a clique of bitchy classmates (all named Heather), and Christian Slater, doing his early Jack Nicholson thing. While Ryder's character mulls over the consequences of giving up one set of friends for another, her association with a new boy (Slater) in school turns out to have deadly consequences. Director Michael Lehmann turned this unusual film into something more than another teen-death flick. There is real wit and sharp satire afoot, and the very fusion of horror and comedy is provocative in itself. Heathers remains a kind of benchmark in contemporary cinema for bringing surreal intelligence into Hollywood films. --Tom Keogh

Well, i have to say this is now one of my favorite movies now. Christian Slater is the epiphany of the perfect phycopath. and he's hot sooo.....yeah. its a good movie

5 out of 5 stars "Dear Diary, my teen-angst...now has a body count.".......2007-01-14

The 'kill them all let god sort them out' version of the going to high school in the 80s some of us only dreamed of at the time . Little did we know that we'd be dealing with the ' Swatch dogs and Diet Coke heads' the rest of our sorry, outcast ,underachieving lives. The best of the teen films of my generation and Winona Ryder is hot despite the lamentable clothing and hair styles. Christian Slater as an eerie precurser of Columbine, wherein teen angst really becomes homicidal.
hard to find generally on dvd so get it while you can-has extras and an acceptable transfer to dvd.

5 out of 5 stars Love Heathers!.......2007-01-03

I freaking love this movie. I used to watch it when I was little when it came on Comedy Central. It's one of my favorites for sure. When I saw Mean Girls, I thought it was a rip off of Heathers. Love Winona and Christian. Just fabulous.

3 out of 5 stars Extreme High School Politics.......2006-12-18

We all go through that stage in which we realize that the world we live in really ticks us off and that revenge shall be ours. Mine involved eggs and not household detergent and guns, but to each his own, or in this case, her own. With "Heathers" we follow the misadventures of Veronica (Winona Ryder) as she and her partner in crime Jason Dead (Christian Slater projecting an image of James Dean but whose speech patterns were downright Nicholsonian) take their Scorched Earth policy through an Ohio high school. Early on Veronica tries to fit in with the Heathers, a mean girls type clique that supposedly are the envy of the entire school. Veronica disappoints them at a party and one of the Heathers scolds her for it. The obvious thing for her to do would be to give up the inane dream of being popular, but then we wouldn't have a movie. So instead she decides to wreak havoc on this Heather's life. Of course wreak havoc is putting it lightly as Bonnie and Clyde depend on "big blue" to off one of the most popular girls in the school. Since the cover up is ridiculously easy more murders follow, followed by more cover ups. The whole issue of teenage death is brought up. Teachers debate proper tributes which lead to the dead being glorified beyond recognition. Seeing this, the other kids decide that the only way to be hip is to do it in the terminal fashion, thus faux suicides begets failed suicides and chaos rules the day.

Since the film is hardly going to take the side of murdering your classmates Jason goes a little overboard and decides to blow up the entire school. At this point the film switches from satire to thriller and becomes a lot less interesting. The ideas from the first two thirds still hold up. Not to sound genocidal but the people that were offed were simply embarrassments to the human race. Jason even says, oh so honestly, that the only things the school lost with their deaths were "Date rape and AIDS jokes." The script by Daniel Waters is the star of the show as its bitter tongue and cynical nature were written in intellectual fashion. The slang does show its age; I hope the last time I heard the word "motor" in place of "hurry" was 1989. Above all it seems to remind kids of all generations that their puny high school existences don't matter. Yes, I know it seems like it does, it really seemed like it did to me, but it doesn't. If you were to drop dead today your school would just make up colorful lies about you and then benefit from your absence. I also enjoyed the way the film took glee in other peoples misery. Early on the Heaters (who are so aristocratic they play croquet) set their eyes and claws upon an obese girl. The public ridicule she suffers may be heartbreaking for her, but for us it is hilarious. It's not our fault that extreme embarrassment is funny, that's just the way it goes. This film has been compared to "Mean Girls" but the main difference is the darkness that runs throughout this one. The main character in that movie is a lost soul who gets involved with the wrong crowd. Here our main character kills without consequence and in the process lands on the top of the social ladder. Sure, she's still a hero, but a dark and flawed one, that's for sure. ***1/2

Although it was made in 1936, Reefer Madness didn't become a cult hit until 1972 when the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) rescued it from the Library of Congress film archive. Thereafter, it was a mainstay on the midnight movie circuit. And it's easy to see why. The ostensible story involves a group of upstanding young high school students who succumb to the allure of the "killer weed." What follows, as if by natural progression, is a catalog of crimes that includes hit-and-run driving, loose morals, rape, murder, suicide, and my personal favorite, permanent insanity! The action is at times so hysterical, in both senses, that you may forget to inhale. Honors go to the wild-eyed, cackling hophead David O'Brien; his performance reaches a raw intensity that is hard to imagine. One measure of this film's pervasive influence is the extent to which its title continues to be invoked in news stories about decriminalization and medical marijuana. Such posterity for unintentional humor must be rare. A great film to see stoned, man. --Jim Gay

Amazon.com

A propaganda film from 1936 that has become a cult hit because of its dated outlook on marijuana use, Reefer Madness is the height of camp entertainment. Framed as a "documentary," the film is narrated by a high school principal imparting his wisdom and experiences with the demon weed. The bulk of the film focuses on almost slapstick scenes of high school kids smoking pot and quickly going insane, playing "evil" jazz music, being committed, and going on a murder spree. Meant to be an important and affecting cautionary tale, this dated black-and-white film's true value is in its many entertaining moments of unintended hilarity. --Robert Lane

Description

Reefer Madness is a campy cult favorite first released in 1938 as a propaganda film meant to scare America's youth off of drug. In this quintessential classic, innocent teens partake of the "demon weed" only to find that one puff plunges them into a hilarious web of murder, sex, lunacy and jazz music.

1 out of 5 stars Oh, the misery........2007-06-26

Reefer Madness (Louis J. Gasnier, 1936)

For some reason, this weekend, there was a treasure trove of old movies I've always wanted to see scattered across our television. I started Sunday night's Depression-era extravaganza with Reefer Madness. Now, I'm fond of saying of bad movies--those with a certain élan, anyway--that they're probably better watched through a haze of smoke that can only be generated by certain controlled substances referenced in the title of this film. This is the exact opposite; while I know it's grown to be a cult favorite among some of my, shall we say, more indulgent friends, I can't imagine a movie being any more of a buzz-kill than Reefer Madness.

It's amazing how much influence Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will had already had a year later; compared to earlier propaganda films, at least, Reefer Madness is a triumph of subtlety and decorum. That said, it would probably have been pulled off a whole lot better (and, ultimately, been a whole lot more dangerous) had the people who put this film together decided to exercise the merest standards in casting for this movie. In a film in which my main outrage should be directed to the absolute idiocy of the "scientific studies" on which the movie's script is supposedly based, I can't find it in myself to get past the quality of these actors. The first scene where we meet Bill Harper (Kenneth Craig) and his girlfriend Mary (Dorothy Short) is so painfully acted that I almost choked. On my water. Uhhhh, yeah, water, that's it.

It only gets worse from there. Honestly, it really is one of those movies so bad you have to see it to believe it. A lot of people seem to think that it's bad enough to tip over the line into that sort of cheesy brilliance one associates with Night of the Lepus, but it didn't catch me that way. Well, at least I can say I've seen it now. *

5 out of 5 stars You've fallen and you can't get up...but somehow you're still higher than a bunch of third graders on Ritalin..........2007-04-17

Reefer Madness remains a cult favorite to this day. Originally produced to scare parents into keeping their children away from the scourge of marijuana, the film faded into obscurity after a brief while. It was rediscovered during the 1960s when, of course, all types of experimentation and drug use spiked up much higher than ever before. People then found the film to be amusing--and they are right. Reefer Madness was produced with good intentions but quite frankly it's a hoot to watch and sometimes you just can't help but laugh.

This generous DVD offers us both the restored black and white version released in 1936 as well as a colorized version. You can also choose to listen to a commentary during the movie or you can simply watch it straight through on your own. Mike Nelson of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" does a great job with his running commentary. Either way, the film's scare tactics prove to be too lame for today's much more street wise people. If you want to scare kids away from drugs, Reefer Madness won't do the trick. The kids will probably be smart enough to just laugh at all the melodramatic scenes replete with over-the-top campy performances.

Reefer Madness tries its best to tell the story of the dangers of marijuana by showing us a few months in the lives of several high school students. In just this brief period of time they go from being the All-American Boys And Girls Club to being the horrific monsters who actually share intimacy before any wedding plans are announced--and they dance as if they're truly enjoying themselves! Of course, there's the obvious byproduct of playing the piano too fast, which in and of itself must be stamped out. The only truly serious scene in the movie--when someone gets bumped off--is probably the only time you'll experience a sense of sadness at the situation. Reefer Madness also points the finger at organized crime for distributing the drug.

Reefer Madness is best seen in its historical context as an outdated form of scare tactics meant to keep kids away from drugs; and it truly was produced with the best of intentions. However, with the passage of time and with new social mores and norms, the film plot becomes campy and hard to completely believe. The truth is most people laugh at it; and frankly it is pretty humorous, too.

The added short film entitled "Grandpa's Marijuana Handbook" by Evan Keliher is hysterical. Take a close look at that cat's eyes as the cat eats the leaves of the marijuana plant--man, is that cat stoned!

I highly recommend this DVD for fans of cult classic movies and people who want to take a look at how drug abuse was tackled in this country during the 1930s. The movie vacillates between true drama and mostly melodrama; so keep this in mind if you're looking for a truly dramatic flick.

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious...because its horrible.......2007-04-03

This "public service announcment" about the evils of marijuana is just laughable. The entire movie is based on false information made up by Robert J. Anslinger, the first head of the Bureau of Narcotics in the 1930's. Interesting, and a must have if your a drug buff, Reefer Madness is a small glimpse of the hysteria that gripped this country in the first half of the 20th century.

1 out of 5 stars It's 10 o'clock. Do you know why your children are cackling insanely?.......2007-03-16

"Reefer Madness" (originally "Tell Your Children") was created to teach parents that it's never too early to scare the holy crap out of your kids. Through this film we learn that the soul-destroying effects of Marihuana (Mike Nelson explains in the commentary that this film was made before the invention of the letter J) far surpass those of cocaine or heroin. We see firsthand that even teens who can quote Shakespeare like nobody's business cannot escape its evils.

Here are some of the symptoms of casual Marihuana use:
- laughing maniacally while running people down in the street
- playing the piano too fast
- having sexual relations with people you don't really like that much
- accidentally shooting people you do like pretty well
- having no recollection of being framed for murder

If your child has experienced any of these symptoms, he or she is a Marihuana addict. The solution is simple: force them to watch "Reefer Madness" because if we don't heed its warning, "Reefer Madness 2" will be coming to a theater near you or you... OR YOU!

3 out of 5 stars Well, it's funny sometimes anyways..........2007-02-17

Although Reefer Madness was made in 1936, after the production code was inforced, it very much looks like pre-code fare. It is about two high school kids mainly who Blanche (Lillian Miles) and her boyfriend Ralph (Dave O'Brien) persuade into coming to Mae's (Thelma White) apartment to have a reefer session. They become addicted to it and incidents including when Jimmy (Warren McCollum) runs over a man in his car ensue. While Reefer Madness sports poor production values and wooden acting, being a "B" picture, the dialog is funny and witty sometimes. Like when Warren McCollum says "I'm red-hot!" And then Jack (Carleton Young) says "Watch how you drive or the next thing you'll be is ice-cold." Then they accidentally run over a walking man. Reefer Madness is full of stuff like this. the print I saw was grainy, un-colorized and poor, so if you want to see it in a nice version, buy this DVD, but you can watch it on the internet for free, as it is a public domain movie. Maybe the movie reformed people back in 1936, but no way would it do that today. I am in 8th grade and I love old movies, and I was thinking that if my classmates saw this they'd laugh like crazy. Because it is poor and outdated, though it has some good momemts, like Thelma Wilte dancing crazily, and Dave O'Brien laughing uncontollably, and a lot of other dramatic moments. There is one scene when Jimmy's little brother says "Jimmy, will you help me fix my model airplane? You can fix ANYTHING!" But the one thing he could fix was...HIMSELF!!! I kept on thinking that after I heard that line. But overall, Reefer Madness was not my cup of tea. I guess I only like pre-codes and musicals. And anyways, not doing drugs is just common sense, which people today seem to be losing. I'm NEVER doing drugs and I wasn't inspired by this film. And Thelma White looks and sounds like Alice Faye, but I couldn't really tell because it was a bad print, being an online public domain one. And Lillina Miles sang "The Continental" in the first Astaire/Rogers starring film, the Gay Divorcee.

5 out of 5 stars a fun sunday movie.......2007-03-15

I loved this movie... Charisma Carpenter did a wonderful job.... She was cute and funny and you couldn't help but to feel for her.... I can't wait to her and Holly Marie Combs to do more movies together... This is a perfect movie to watch with the gals...

1 out of 5 stars Not a family movie.......2007-02-06

This unfunny sexual romp is badly written. I love Charisma Carpenter, but she and the other actors in this film seem to be struggling through it. It's not fun to watch; it's sad, dismal, and distasteful. Don't waste your money and don't make the mistake of thinking it's a family film.

3 out of 5 stars Lisa Jankovic.......2007-01-10

Having read the novel, I decided it was time to see the film. However I must admit that I was never a fan of Charisma Carpenter, but I really enjoyed her in this film.

See Jane Date is about finding the one....but having to date all the losers to get to Mr Right.

Jane's cousin is getting married to a high flying internet exec, and having a fancy expensive wedding. Jane feels she can't turn up alone, so starts going on a series of dates to find her "date" for the wedding.

The book maybe more detailed, but the film is pretty much right on. However I am suprised that they cast Holly Marie Combs in the role of Natasha Nutley....but she's very good in the role and has a very nice wardrobe.

I would recommend this film for anyone who has needs a laugh or has gone through the hell of dating..haha

2 out of 5 stars Charisma is capable of far better acting.......2006-11-07

Drivel. I'm a 40 year old woman and I like "chick flicks" when they are good. I loved "You've got mail". But this? This was just drivel. Badly written, formulaic boring plot, and obvious ending with the very stereotypical idiot boyfriend prospects and supportive friends.

You want to watch funny interactions between the sexes, watch Friends or BBC's coupling.

You want to watch Charisma ACT? Go rent Buffy and Angel. Watch Veronica Mars.

Charisma did her best to be Mary TYler Moore, but in the end, she was an unbelievable character who I'm supposed to believe as a wallflower. Yeah. Right.

5 out of 5 stars Such Talent.......2006-10-19

Charisma Carpenter is such a talented actress and beautiful woman. This movie, seen many times on ABC Family and now on DVD is so well put together and highlights Charisma's acting ability. She should do more movies like this. I do my best to view all movies that I know she is in. She is more talented then many so called actresses on screen today she puts them to shame. The movie is just a pleasure to watch.

The latest in an animated Christian children's series, this video teaches kids the importance of standing up to peer pressure through a thinly disguised Bible story. When Bob the Tomato, our host, sees that Larry the Cucumber is trying to fit into what's "cool" by wearing an oven mitt as a hat, he tells Larry that it's important to be true to yourself no matter what the consequences. Bob tells Larry a story about three vegetables, Rag, Shack, and Benny, who are held hostage in a factory and forced to make chocolate bunnies. When the owner, Mr. Nezzar, takes a liking to them, he offers to promote them if they will only worship a giant chocolate bunny.

The story is based on the book of Daniel in the Old Testament, in which three friends stand up to King Nebuchadnezzar, refusing to worship a false idol. The slavery and death themes may be too dark for kids under 7, but the animation and songs are fun. --Elisabeth Keating

3 out of 5 stars Not suitable for younger children.......2007-06-18

We own several Veggie Tales that our children really enjoy. But this particular one is not suitable for small children at all. We thoroughly read the description and reviews for Rack, Shack & Benny and felt comfortable ordering it, but it turned out to be frightening to our young children (Rack, Shack & Benny were threatened to be thrown into a firey furnace if they didn't sing the bunny song). A warning was added to the description after we purchased it.

4 out of 5 stars A Veggie Classic.......2005-07-15

I thoroughly enjoyed this VeggieTales movie and can understand why it is a favorite for some of my Veggie-loving friends. The plot was good, the characters were lovable (except for Nezzer who of course isn't generally liked, though his singing is fun to imitate). I saw the video version, so I'm not aware of this line-changing business but it does seem kind of sad. I liked the story, liked the characters, liked the silly song too (Larry doing folk dance in spanish is pretty laughable). Highly recommended to any VeggieTales fan that hasn't seen it yet, and actually for those who have. It's one that you can rewatch again and again and still enjoy it.

4 out of 5 stars Main theme in show: Stand up for what you believe in.......2005-06-25

This veggie tales episode is a good one to show children in order to teach them to shand up for what they believe in no matter what (even if they feel pressure from their peers). It also shows the importance of obeying their parents even when their parents aren't around.

It also comes with a silly song about a dancing and singing cucumber (which may be funny to some people but others might find it a bit rude).

4 out of 5 stars In with the old out with the new........2005-02-20

Rack Shack and Benny brings many fine moments to the Veggie Tale franchise. It boasts the first appearance of Mr. Lundt, Mr. Nezzer, Laura the Carrot and George, the security guard narrator who also narrates the Toy that Saved Christmas. With Dave and the Giant Pickle, which came out the same year, Rack Shack and Benny departed from the previous and current Veggie format of two stories regarding the episodes theme by telling a longer story interspersed with a silly song at intermission. And what a silly song at that: An Argentinean cucumber folk ballad sung in Spanish by Larry, translated in to English by Bob; often at the interpreters expense.

The story itself adapted from the book of Daniel takes Shadrach (Bob) Meeshach (Junior Asparagus) and Abednego (Larry) from captivity to cavity prone by making them workers at a chocolate factory. It capably tells the story of standing up to persecution for doing what you know is right. The boys are commanded to bow down to a chocolate bunny and sing the bunny song. They know that many of the words in the song are wrong and refuse to bow or sing. As a result they are sentenced to be thrown in the incinerator with the rest of the "bad" bunnies. I hate to leave you hanging on the plot line but you'll have to watch the video or read the bible to see how it comes out.

The only problem I have with my copy of Rack Shack and Benny is that Big Idea broke one of my favorite credos. That credo being is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

You see there are two versions of Rack Shack & Benny: the original and a re-release, with the only difference being lines of dialogue in the Bunny song. You would not think that switching lines in a song would make much of a difference but in this case it's like watching a video without actually putting in the VCR, it alters the entire presentation.

One of the lines I am referring to sung by Nebby K. Nezzer is:
I won't go to church and I won't go to school that stuff is for sissies but Bunnies are cool. In the re-release they change the first part of the line to: "I won't eat beans and I won't eat tofu". Another change is I don't love my Mom or my Dad just the bunny to something much more benign.

The problem with the line changes is that it undermines and all but obliterates the entire conflict of the plot. It makes Rack Shack and Benny seem to be willing to give their life over gastronomical differences.

Now I understand that the line change may well be in order not to have children singing such bad lines. But the point is that the kids in the story would not sing it. I thought the matter was resolved in the first sing a-long video when a reformed Nebby performs a new improved version of the song advising not to make the bunny an idol.

In all, I would still highly recommend Rack Shack and Benny to veggiephiles everywhere. And if at all possible try to get your hands on the original version and if you can, please send one to me!

5 out of 5 stars Funny Even Without the Bunny Song.......2004-04-25

Veggie Tales star in the story of the Fiery Furnace. Rack, Shack and Benny are faced with a challenge to their faith - bow down to a god other than the God they believe in or die. Our three heroes bravely, albeit a bit hesitantly at first, stand up for what they believe in and get sent to the Fiery Furnace. But their God remembers them just as they remembered Him and intercedes in a majestic way, amid plenty of light and awestruck bystanders. The songs in this movie are catchy and the message is solid - stand up for what is right, no matter the cost. The Silly Songs segment features Larry performaing "The Dance of the Cucumber" which is the most hilarious Silly Song ever!!! The translation by Bob the Tomato is guaranteed to leave you laughing as you watch Bob's gradual slide from mildly miffed to all out aggravated at his friend Larry the Cucumber! See this movie - you'll finish it cheered and smiling.

--Tom Keogh

OscarÂ(r) winner* Sidney Poitier sizzles in an electrifying role (Show Business Illustrated) as a prison psychiatrist who clashes with a racist inmate (Bobby Darin) in this explosive and provocative (Citizen News) drama that packs a powerful wallop (LA Herald Examiner)! A prison doctor is charged with treating a hate-filled young man who's been jailed for sedition. As he probes the patient's nightmares, the psychiatrist realizes his twisted visions mask a lust for violence. But the inmate has become a model prisoner, and unless the doctor can convince officials that he's dangerous, he'll soon be back on the street. *1963: Actor, Lilies of the Field; 2001: Honorary Award

    Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars interesting propaganda film.......2007-04-09

This film has a promising cast, and a promising idea. Unfortunately, it is not a great film.
Sydney Poitier plays a prison psychiatrist who has been brainwashed by Zionist propaganda. His job in this film is to evaluate a prisoner who he hates. The prisoner (played by Bobby Darin) is a pretty nice guy who tries to make friends with the psychiatrist. But his friendly gestures are rebuffed at every turn.
The psychiatrist even tries to start a fist fight with the prisoner, and seems delighted that the prisoner is eventually hanged for killing a bum.

The main problem with this film is that the prisoner is not a realistic character. He seems like a nice guy. But we're supposed to believe that he is full of hate and is capable of killing a bum? It doesn't make sense. Why would he kill a bum?

This is a two star film. But I'm giving it three stars because it is worth watching if you are studying Zionist propaganda.
Pressure Point came out in 1962, several years before the term "Holocaust" was coined. Nevertheless, the Zionist propaganda in this film is very thick, obvious, and self-explanatory. It is clear that in 1962 Zionists already had a firm grip on Hollywood.

In Pressure Point, there is an outlandish flashback scene where the prisoner goes berserk in a bar. While drunk, he violently takes a couple of hostages and plays tic tac toe on a woman's face. Interestingly, he is never arrested for this incident. The reason he is in prison has nothing to do with him taking hostages in the bar. He is in prison for sedition. But it is never made clear what the specific charges were that he was convicted of.
All we know is that he is eventually released from prison. Then he goes out and kills a bum, which gets him hanged.

Why he decides to kill a bum, we'll never know.

3 out of 5 stars pretty good, but follows the Defiant Ones formula.......2007-03-22

this was one of the early starts in the buddy, buddy type of film. Sidney Poitier is one of the Greatest Actors Ever. he truly does a Great Job in this film as does Bobby Darin. the film has alot of complexity's going on. Darin's negative/hateful vibe mixed with Poitier's straight forward presentation is a interesting mix that doesn't really pick up until a good hour into the film. this film deals with Race, Sex&class. Darin's sidewalk business is interesting with the Young Lady He attracts. when he is telling Poitier his life story that is really intense.but i do feel that the film follows the blue print of what Poitier&Tony Curtis did in 'The Definat ones". seeing Peter Faulk pre "columbo" is a real eye opener as well.

5 out of 5 stars Bobby Darin's best dramatic performance in a worthwhile movie.......2006-01-06

Everyone associated with this movie was brave: Stanley Kramer the producer, Cornfeld the Director, and both stars: Poitier and Darin. I admire the effort and the finished product. The subject matter seems fresh and topical, sadly..., tho' the director's style seems a bit over the top.* And, as others have noted the director should NOT have done the commentary when he could hardly talk.

As also noted by almost every reviewer Bobby Darin was fantastic. Yeah, he really could act. Big time. And I think if he was born nowdays, after Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino showed that men who look like normal people could become stars, he'd have been a major motion picture star. But he didn't look the part in the early 60's so he had to content himself with being a singing superstar.

Bobby's performance here was subdued yet powerful. Just stunning. He makes his character impossible to dismiss, and therefore all the more thought provoking and, as The Doctor notes, all the more terrifying.

Stanley Kramer wisely opted not to wrap this movie in a happy Hollywood bow, overruling the director by reshooting the ending (with Darin's approval and cooperation) to keep it bleak and realistic. It was a gutsy thing to do and probably lost it a lot of fans and ticket sales, but certainly earned my respect (for what that's worth).

    *Spoiler Footnote:

Tho', as a cinematographer the director did have an eye for a good shot, like the one where a (fore)shadow from a window blind string hangs by The Patient/Darin like a noose as he's in a counciling session with The Doctor....

5 out of 5 stars Pressure Point on DVD gets 5 Stars.......2004-09-03

Pressure Point is now available on DVD in Black and White in Widescreen 1.66:1 with Dolby Digital sound. Also, included is the original theatrical trailer. Another quality release from MGM.

4 out of 5 stars great movie, poor commentary.......2004-02-18

i'm not going to go on about the movie as the other reviewers do a good job. it is a great movie, especially if you want to see how conduct disorder begins and becomes an adult antisocial personality. i do want to spend some time talking about the commentary, which is horrible. mr. cornfield provides the commentary and either has throat cancer or some kind of throat disease. he struggles talking and it's painful just to try to listen to him. it's embarrassing and i don't know why it was even recorded and presented. this is not a cut against what he says, but against mgm for even presenting this on dvd. they should of had someone else do the commentary, like some film critic. i still highly recommend the movie as it is a classic, but forget the commentary.

A must for every Camel fan, Total Pressure delivers beyond belief. The full concert previously released as Pressure Points, sans actors, is an ABSOLUTELY jaw dropping performance. I want to keep this short, every musician is in top form, the set list covers nearly every period of Camel's career, the picture and sound are excellent, the bonus material is extra concert footage and the interview is cool from '84..I could easily sell half of my music dvd collection after watching this......maybe I will!! BUY THIS NOW and PLAY LOUD!!!!!!
