flashback dragonball manga.......2006-09-25
THIS IS THE BEST BRAGONBALL MOVIE EVER. It's more of a flashback to the orignal dragonball manga as far as the style and is very accurate.
arracute- ANY ONE REMBER GOHAN IN THE VERY BEGINING OF DRAGONBALLZ ok he was an emitonal reck and a wimp sAME GOES 4 tRUNKS IN THE "HISTORY OF TRUNKS" MOVIE SO SAYAN+HUMAN= WIMP UNTILLED PROPERLY TRAINED so goku jr being a wimp makes sence
get this movie
An interesting experience.......2006-08-06
I've been a Dragonball fan for a while now, and this has to be the most interesting dragonball movie yet. This brings back the adventurous quality that was found in the "Lost Episodes" of Dragon Ball GT, or the Dragonball series as a whole. Its an enjoyable experience, but the main character, Son Goku (Not the one we all know, his Great great Grandson) is a bit of a wimp, which is disappointing to see.
Overall, if you want a good anime experience, or you just like Dragonball, this movie is worth watching again and again
Make a sequal.......2006-05-30
First of all this isn't a bad movie but it just could have been a lot better. The movie is about Goku J.R the granson of Pan who is a adult now. Pan wants Goku J.R to get stronger and stand up to pepole. However Goku J.R isn't really strong and gets picked on by bullys and gets his stuff stolen. After Pan hears about it she is outraged and tells him to beacome stronger but then she has heart failer and has great chances of diying. Goku J.R decides to save his grandma and goes to find the Dragon Balls to save pan. On the road Goku J.R meets the bully who picked on him after being tricked by a truck driver they seet of to help eachother a meet a lady who lets them stay at her house. But, this lady was really a monster who attacks them but Goku J.R and his friend escape. After being scared to help his friend at a bridge his friend falls after the bridge beacomes lose and dies. Goku J.R is sad but it will take me to long to tell the rest of the movie but the movie dosn't have enough action and a little more bit of drama. This is great if you like drama anmie but if you like action you might want to check out the Dragon Ball GT series. A ok movie but they should make a sequal.
Some legacy.......2005-12-30
This is by far the weakest of the DBZ movies. Hell, I dont even consider this part of DBZ. This the first DBZ movie I'm giving less than a 3. The story takes place 100 years after Baby was defeated. All of the Z fighters have passed on and Pan is the last sayian. She is over 100 years old and has a great, great grandson, Goku Jr. This is where the problem begins. You never find out who his parents or grandparents were. Those must have been some weak ass sayians. And talk about weak Goku Jr. isnt a shadow of what his ancestors were. He's bullied in school and he's even more of a sissy than kid Gohan was. THere is nothin interesting about him or this movie. Nothin about this seems DBZish to me. Add this to your collection only if your a diehard fan and need this. Other than that, this crap screams rental.
Rental..........2005-12-12
I am sorry but this was a somewhat of a disappointment. I wasn't expecting much and i didn't even get that. What i kept wondering was: what happened to Goku jr parents and their parents?...and what happened to the goku jr and vegeta jr that we saw in the future at the end of dragonball GT that was from the future?...this show put more holes and unanswered questions than anything else. *sigh*. For a basic story it delivered its few minutes of entertainment.

Heroic warrior Ilya Muromets tries to protect Russian land from evil enemies, defeating their thousands-strong army and encountering numerous monsters.
Customer Reviews:
Colorful Russian folk spectacle finally seen in its original version.......2005-09-26
This DVD of ILYA MUROMETS is long awaited by fans who've seen the film in its English-dubbed U.S. release version, SWORD AND THE DRAGON. This 1956 Soviet spectacle, based on the legend of Ilya Muromets, a Russian folk hero who defended Kiev from the Tartar hordes, was released in the U.S. in 1960 and has come out on VHS in various full-screen versions, including one framed by a badly-shot tacked-on prologue and epilogue involving a little boy who finds a book in a library that tells the story. It's also been ridiculed on "Mystery Science Theater 3000." Here we finally get to see it in a restored print in its proper widescreen dimensions and in Russian with English subtitles.
It follows the rise of Ilya Muromets from his helpless status as a crippled onlooker who watches Tugar raiders invade his village and kidnap his devoted wife, Vassilisa, to a hero of the people who, upon being awarded a magic sword by traveling minstrels, finds he can walk and ride and sets out to capture a wind demon who's been robbing passersby and thus prove to Prince Vladimir at Kiev that he deserves a special place in court. He rescues his wife, but is discredited by a traitor at court and imprisoned only to be called on when the Tugars, under their chief, Kalin, prepare to invade Kiev. Meanwhile his wife has been recaptured by the Tugars and gives birth to Ilya's son, who will not meet his father for several years. It all culminates in a big battle with the Tugars outside of Kiev (employing thousands of extras) and a final showdown with a flame-spewing, three-headed dragon.
This is not SPARTACUS or BEN-HUR or BRAVEHEART. Or even TROY. The Russians call it a fairy-tale film. The whole thing is painted in very broad strokes and the filmmaker, Alexander Ptushko (SADKO), keeps the characters at a distance from us. It's like a storybook come to life, less of an epic and more of a pageant. The characters and their relationships are deliberately dwarfed by the spectacular production design as seen in a series of magnificent locations, lavish indoor sets and massive outdoor sets representing old Kiev and the immediate environs. With the exception of a couple of miniatures and double exposures, all the special effects are created in real time on camera with life-size props. The wind demon, "Nightingale," is particularly grotesque and--dare I say it?--looks real. The dragon is a giant mechanical model sharing the space with the actors on the battlefield outside the castle walls of Kiev. It's none-too-convincing, but it comes at the tail end of an otherwise satisfying large-scale battle and doesn't hurt the film too much.
Fans of SWORD AND THE DRAGON will want to see the full glory of the widescreen imagery for the first time since its theatrical release. The original cut is also about four minutes longer than the American release version, which shaved bits from various scenes in the interest of speeding things up. (Nothing really important is missing.) Fans of epic fantasy will at the very least enjoy the beautiful production values, even if the story offers less action and fewer narrative twists than such beloved Hollywood counterparts as THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1958), JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (1963) and THE THIEF OF BAGDAD (1940 version).
overblown.......2005-08-10
Too much story, too many people and way too much plot - plus some of the worse acting ever make this famous film a disaster. If you must have an Alexander Ptushko film try the much simpler and far better Scarlet Sails.

Training Resumes.......2006-11-27
In Majin Buu: A Hero's Farewell you will get three episodes of Dragon Ball Z. These episodes are The Fusion Dance, Goku's Time Is Up, and Return to the Other World.
Liberated from his master, Majin Buu becomes even more destructive than he was before. He destroys entire cities in seconds leaving the Z fighters even more anxious to find a way to defeat him. Goku returns to the lookout exhausted from his fight. Going Super Saiyan 3 took up most of his remaining time on Earth and he has only 30 minutes to teach the boys fusion. Before he leaves he shows them the Fusion Dance, a VERY bizarre series of poses which the boys must perform together to make the fusion successful.
Meanwhile, Gohan continues his training with the very heavy Z Sword. Goku 's time quickly expires and he must say goodbye to his family and friends in a very touching farewell scene with Goten, Chi Chi, and the others. When Goku returns to Other World, he is amazed to discover that Gohan is alive. He uses Instant Transmission to teleport to the Planet of the Kais and watch Gohan train. He tells Gohan of the desturction Majin Buu is causing, but back on Earth an encounter with a blind boy shows that there is another side to Buu...
Three great episodes of Dragon Ball Z from the Majin Buu Saga. These aren't centered around fighting like the last ones were, but they are touching and help to move the plot along. Due to some graphic scenes, especially the very first one in The Fusion Dance, I recommend this DVD to any fan of Dragon Ball Z 13 and up, if you are younger, buy the edited video instead.
Weak after last volume's mayhem, but check it out........2003-11-05
Well, Goku says goodbye in this volume, as due to fighting Majinn Buu in his SSJ3 form during the previous one, his time on Earth has been spent. Although these episodes feel a bit slow-pace after "Defiance," they're still worth checking out, since the scene with Goku's goodbye is done pretty well. Also, the previous volume features Buu encountering a blind kid(voiced by Hayashibara Megumi!) and winds up helping the kid up when his attempt to make the kid fear him backfires. A little WAFFy, but nice, although I would like it to get on with the main story as soon as possible. Although this one isn't must-buy like some of the other DVDs in the Buu saga, fans should check it out if they have the time.
DBZ - A hero's Farewell.......2002-05-20
What to say? First things first me being the ultimate DBZ fan you can't go wrong with these episodes.
Ep - 232: Now that Buu has killed babidi, he continues his desruction of the earth. Mean while goku is training the boy's to do the fusion dance, but with only 30 minutes left how much can he teach them.
Ep - 233: Time is up for goku. But before he leaves the boy's persaude him to show them S.S.3 one more time which drains the remainig time he has left on earth, Piccolo now must finnish where goku left off. can he do it "you'll have to find out on the next exciting episode of DBZ"
Ep - 234: Back in the world of the dead goku goes looking for gohan but has a surprise in-store. Gohan is with the supreme kai. Goku helps out gohan's training with the z-sword. Back on earth Marjin buu has already wiped out 2/3 of the worlds population. What can the Z-fighter's do about this horrible pink monster. "Find out next time on DBZ".
Prepare for Fusion..........2002-05-13
As Goku returns from his brief battle with Majin Buu, Trunks arrives with the Dragon Radar. Then, Goten and Trunks under go strict training from Goku and Piccolo. However, the two won't cooperate and want Goku to show them how to become Super Saiyan 3s. After he teaches them how to do it with a great display, his time is up and he must go. These are not filler episodes, but crucial, epic moments to the Saga of Dragon Ball Z.
Best.......2002-03-27
This DVD ncludes probably the best show there is in DBZ. That is the one where Goku goes Super Saiya-jin 3. That is so awesome when he does because he just looks great like that.

Customer Reviews:
For nostalgia buffs.......2006-12-04
Hmmm... Can't say as I agree with my fellow reviewers here, but the movie deserves points for the sheer nerve of delivering a wonderful poster...then cheating its audience of such an experience. Looks as if the color and widescreen were stunning when this was shot, but despite the comments below, this print looks as if it's seen better days, so for fans of this weird item I'd say beware. Broderick Crawford looks as if he's slumming, and his death scene is a hammy delight. Wish I could say the same for the dragon, but maybe I'm missing the point. I was hoping for something Harryhausen-esque, but what appears is endearingly terrible, and there's a childlike sense of embarrassment one feels for poor Mark Forest, who's got to dance around the thing, looking stern faced and serious. If you loved this as a kid, who am I to tell you not to cherish it? But for others lured by the great poster art, steer clear. Those who do admire this cheesy little adventure deserve a better DVD pressing. Buy the poster and hang it, instead.
Fearless filmmaking, great image quality.......2006-02-06
The Alpha Video dvd of GOLIATH AND THE DRAGON is from a well-preserved widescreen print, and it's dazzling to look at! To be sure, the color balance goes a bit wonky in a few outdoor scenes, but the aquamarine trees and purple skies almost seem intentional, given the strangeness of director Vittorio Cottafavi's vision. If all the old sword and sandal epics were in this good a shape, the genre would attract many more fans. Great quality for a great price!
The movie itself is a delirious muscleman fantasy from start to finish. A bearded Mark Forest shows off the biggest pecs and widest lats of his generation, and melts everyone with his smile (except scar-faced Broderick Crawford as the cranky villain). The costumes are beautiful, the sets are extravagant, the exterior landscapes are a lush paradise, the monsters are huge puppets, and just when you think the story can't become more bizarre...it does! An absurdly majestic music score by Les Baxter strives to match the melodrama of a hero who dares to revolt against the gods themselves.
Cottafavi will try just about anything to dazzle and disorient the viewer. In one scene, as Goliath approaches, looms above, and then passes over the camera, the point of view turns completely upside-down; the effect is so unexpected and audacious I had to laugh out loud! This is fearless (and yes, perhaps sometimes mindless) filmmaking, and the result is truly dreamlike, if not downright mythic.
GOLIATH AND THE DRAGON.......2005-09-12
Excellent movie, originally called Revenge of Hercules, but dubbed into English by American International and re-titled Goliath & The Dragon.,for release in the States.
This Alpha release is in Letterbox, glorious Widescreen and beautiful color
If only all the Sword & Sandal releases were as good as this..........Highly Recomended.

Things have not been going well for the highly decorated ex-Army Ranger Johnny Price (Don "The Dragon" Wilson). Framed for a crime he didn't commit and thrown out of the corps, Johnny is suddenly the one man to stop a group of terrorists (led by Roddy Piper) who have taken over Hoover Dam. The fate of a national monument and people living nearby rest squarely on the shoulders of a forgotten hero.

If you see this movie, burn it, now!!!!!!!.......2002-10-28
This movie is not very good. They must have spent seventy-five dollars making this movie. There were a lot of mistakes in this movie and the explosions are fake. The terrorist leader kills like... six of his men for just asking a question. If you see this at a movie store, knock it off the shelf and jump on it over and over, and then you burn it!!!

Great Action...Hmmm?.......2007-03-19
Yeah this movie did have great action in it, but my reason for a 3'star rating was because of the picture quality and editing miscues, but overall it's pretty good! Plus maybe i need to more movies of Dragon Lee or Fake'Lee...he's decent with his skillz but i still say the end fight with tha Master', he should have lost! They could've thrown Bruce Li' in there and he would've made a better showing ( more charisma)! This movie should be remastered to get a better rating....but a good pickup for true kungfu fans!!!
Old' skool" Kung Fu!!.......2006-07-02
Based on the hype, right here on amazon, I rushed out the get this flick, and yes,,I do agree it really is an amazing old school performace by Dragon lee,,aka,,Casanova lee. I really enjoyed this from the start to finish,,,there were really no boaring parts. This is definately a must have,,,you can't go wrong!!
LIKE FISTS OF FURY AKA BIG BOSS BUT BETTER.......2006-05-31
yo! when you watch this movie you might think this is a ripoff of the "fists of fury aka the big boss" and it kinda is but with a little more flavor to it. instead of bruce lee you have dragon lee 6 years later. he like bruce lee takes on an army of lackeys to get to the traitorous boss who deceives the people played korean superkicker casanova wong. the action inb this movie is great but 1 descrepency they look like they are not hitting each other and the typical godfrey ho soundbytes. the battle between dragon lee and marty chu is kinda entertaining because marty chu seems to be a great hand specialist much like tsui siu keung but not nearly as talented. dragon lee vs. casanova wong is worth the price of admission alone. i mean its kicks against kicks galore. and you can dragon lee in the beginning having fun beating down the great lee hoi sang so pick this one up and dvd features, picture, sound quality is great.
Dragon Lee is my [man]!!.......2001-08-09
The first time I went to N.Y. C. Time Square was when I was little, and my dad took me to see two Dragon Lee flix. He is mad crazy!Built like Arnold and with Bruce's face.Dude makes these weird face expressions.he's off the hook. So I can understand why the Wu Tang family would put Dragon Lee in they line up. All the flix I've seen with him have been wild, including this one.He fights this snake fist dude, and a iron Belly master and other strange styles. RZA talks this up before the flick. It's a crazy flick, but you'll really like it. Bring some friends over and kick back with Dragon Lee!!Peace!!
Casanova Wong vs Dragon Lee (fist vs foot).......2001-04-24
Dragon Lee plays a young bodyguard workin for a local merchant, after money is stolen he decides to use his muscle to stop the bandits. After taking out many bad guys he realizes that the man behind it is his one time school mate. Dragon Lee is great in this movie, and Casanova Wong is amazing again as the fast kicking villian. A must see.

grrrrrrrrrrrrruffff ruf ruf.......2006-06-18
We get the same old terrible godfrey ho movie, but it doesn't end with the white ninja vs the red, we get actual choreographed fights. Easily the best godfrey ho movie I haev seen to date, and sadly, I haev seen hundreds of his ninja flicks. Now the story is just as bad and meaningless as always. Let me tell you what I was able to decipher. John Liu fights a guy at the start of the movie. He beats him and because they fought, their secret style is lost forever?? There are a few white guys in this and a main one who is selling stolen antiques of course. Chan Lau runs a business where he receives these antiques and also sits outside of his house with a blue painted face and challenges people to beat his fighters. He is willing to give up $20 if anybody can beat his guys. So a guy says ok, I'll fight. Chan lau is like, alright, take on Bolo. So Bolo uses this cool gorilla style. Then someone comes in and beats Bolo. Then Phillip Ko shows up and kills him just after his victory on Bolo. Dragon Lee goes around doing Bruce Lee poses and tino Wong is his brother. Dragon is training one day and John Liu watches him. Dragon doesn't liek people watching him so he fights Liu. Then tino wong comes down to fight him. He says "I must kill you to revenge my father". All of this is classic godfrey ho. Sometimes you can have up to 100 or so movies in one pf his films. But this manages to be cut down to only about 3 movies. New record for godfrey ho. Chan Lau hires Liu to work for him, because, well, Bolo lost so he needs another fighter. Hey, I figured one of the plot lines out! Fat kid shows up who you have seen in MANY movies(one is snake in eagle's shadow) and he is trying to break his plates out in some wasteland and is getting mad casue tino wong is catching them and not lettign them break???????? Then we see Chan Lau having this weird scenee where he can't breath and is eating roaches. This happens in the dark of course and I think he is supposed to be a demon, but why I am tryign to figure stuff out in a godrefy ho movie. But basically it leads up to him learning the mad dog technique and biting up dragon lee. That fight and the finale is what got this film it's 3 stars. Good stuff from the great Godfrey Ho.
DVD quality on the brentwood version is bad, but watchable.
Old "skool" Kung Fu!!.......2006-06-06
This movie is also known as: The Dragon, The Hero, and Dragon on fire. I really enjoyed this John Liu movie, it was entertaining from start to finished,,a tremendous amount of fight scenes. The dvd transfer is acceptable/ good, and the plot decent and easy to follow. John Liu performed brilliantly with his legendary kicks, never boaring,,not matter how many times you see him do his thing. This flick is a must have,,if you look at my history you see I know my old school!!
