I truly loved this stage play by David Talbert. I found it to be true also in the real world. It showed the side of the drug life. All that's glitter is truly not gold. On the christian side we sometimes judge people according to the past life that they lived feeling it's just another con-job for them. I know it's hard to forget, but sometimes even harder to forgive. This play of David Talbert showed both side of the coin and with all the humor, the tears, and yes a lesson to be learned. Please check this stage play out and than view all David Talbert's Excellent work you will not be disappointed.

Let me just say, this play is amazing!!!! this is my first time watching a david talbert play and i loved it. it was real to me. the cast was awesome, the storyline was great, and overall production was excellent. It shows how Christians can be and, in the end, how God wants us to be. Everybody should watch this play!!!!!!

I just bought the play today and sat down to watch it tonight, and I liked to shed a few tears at the end; It goes like this: you have this drug dealer, Satin Jones(Clifton Powell),whose bar sits right next door to a church; his underling becomes too ambitious and threatens to take over the church; the pastor is already gunned down in a confrontation with them; and Satin is ready to close in on the property of the church next door to "expand" his territory; when he asks his people to wait on this, his associate,in direct opposition to what Satin said, goes to the church, terrorizes the members and beats up the new preacher; despite of all of this, the church presses on and even a love thing goes on between the preacher and one of the members; The ending of the play is the absolute best and will make you want to cry; What I learned most out of this play is that no matter how things may look or seem, things can go up after being down. Recommended viewing. One more thing, I started watching David Talbert before getting in on Tyler; I won't compare but I will say that I thank God for the both of them and that there is room for them both;

If you enjoy a thought-provoking disaster DVD with lots of fu** and sh** words you will only be happy about the cursing. OK, OK, you might overlook the bad language if not for the mediocre acting, low budget effects, and a plot you could guess long before the end. It was so bad that I skipped the entire middle of the movie to see the last two scenes.

Sure glad that I only rented this. Now, the Poseidon, that is a good disaster flick.

This movie is a journey into the minds of several random, good-hearted people in a time of crisis. The plot could call for a big-budget Hollywood disaster movie, but this is the opposite. Ben Rehki wanted to create a movie that had not been done before. Mission accomplished. This film essentially predicted the disaster that was the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Water is no longer available. How long can you stay sane without any liquid in your system while fighting the balmy, hot summer of Los Angeles? Not long. Good acting, unique cinematography, and an extremely relevant plotline. Not to mention one of the best movie scores ever composed from the most important rock band in America, dredg.

In this psychological thriller, in the tradition of Crash, a series of interconnected stories reveals the emotional cost and real devastation that happen when LA's water supply is attacked with a biological agent. People everywhere are dying, and the water is so unsafe it can't be touched, let alone drunk. Soon all the bottled water is gone and over the next 72 hours, everyone must decide what's really important to them.

This movie is quick, smart, and the cast works well together. It not only addresses issues of global import, but peels back your eyelids to make you see snippets of human interaction, some of which are touching, some of which are caustic, and all of which smack of truth given the situation. It's the kind of film you will want to watch with friends and family, because you'll want to talk about it afterward.

Rent this movie if you feel like investing a bit of yourself and thinking for a long time afterwards about everything.

If you liked Crash, you'll like this.

I can only judge this film by the USA version of the DVD, which is what I viewed.

I didn't like it very much. I understand that it was meant to portray a somewhat tawdry lifestyle of strippers in the seedy part of NYC, but this film didn't hold together that well, despite the presence of a first-rate cast.

The nudity (mostly strippers doing their dance routines) made me yawn after a while. I expected some nudity in this movie, and nudity doesn't offend me (I've drawn many nudes in Life Drawing class!). But I thought the dance sequences got to be too long and derivative. Obviously everyone else's mileage will vary on this point, and I guess the fact that I am female is not insignificant in explaining my sentiments.

Jack Scalia, Tom Berenger, Billy Dee Williams and Melanie Griffith are the main stars. Griffith's performance is kind of lackluster, but I don't recall her maturing too much as an actress until much later. (This film was made in 1984.) Tom Berenger is good as the brooding ex-boxer sporting a head full of curls. (Oh my word -- the clothing and hair in this movie were *so* '80s!) Jack Scalia is handsome, square-jawed and likeable in his part, as is Billy Dee Williams, (though I didn't think his character was written very well).

I didn't understand why the story was written the way it was -- why is there so little mystery? We know who the killer is right off. What motivates him to kill? I never did find that out -- maybe I dozed off and missed that bit of information when I was bored into a stupor during one of the topless dancing routines. Whatever. All I know is, the story could have, and *should* have been much more interesting.

This is the first movie I've seen of director Abel Farrara, and I don't believe it is a proper introduction to his work. I have been led to believe that he has made some notable films. This is not one of them. The plot is average, the pace is choppy, and I disliked the score immensely. It was intrusive and hackneyed.

This is an average film. If you like any of the main stars and don't mind the seamy smarminess of the story then you might want to view this film. Otherwise, I am guessing that one of the other films by Farrara would be a better choice.

Just seedy enough........2001-07-27

I've had this movie for years, back to when I foolishly wasted my money on a laser disk player. But, anyway. The plot of this movie is simple: a psycho has targeted a group of strippers, for his own warped reasons, for death. And of course, we, the audience, get to see the acts of most of the dancers, before their timed-just-right deaths. Rae Dawn Chong and Melanie Griffith, for two. What is there to say about a movie like this? A must see for fans of Abel Ferarra.

UK DVD worse.......2001-05-21

In response to the review written on 31/03/01- the film was cut by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) of a total of 1 minute and 10 seconds! This is probably the most edited anywhere. The version on ... UK website is 91 minutes in length; the version on the German website is 93 minutes; the version on this / the US website is 95 minutes in length. One can only assume that an edited version was submitted to the British censor prior to their 1 minute and 10 seconds of cuts.

disappointing dvd, but the movie is great..........2001-04-01

Having seen the movie multiple times, I was very disappointed with the production of this DVD. Scenes have been cut, for example, a mesmerizing nunchaku demonstration from the killer, and some bizarre editing happened: Tom Berenger is beat up by cops in the movie, and that was edited in the dvd, a stripper's dog howls when killed by the psychopath, and that also doesn't appear in the DVD. I am going to sell this ASAP, and buy the much better produced UK edition, which, strangely enough, features all the missing scenes.

Surprisingly good.......2001-01-02

I have seen this movie in VHS at least a dozen times, although I never remember seeing it in the theaters. It has a terrific cast, a good story, great strip scenes and awesome fight scenes. Something for everyone. I was so glad to see it in DVD, since my VHS copy had self-destructed.

David Talbert is a brilliant writer and director. I think he's a bit overshadowed by the Tyler Perry craze and dont get me wrong Tyler is the man but there are other writers and directors out here. In all David's play are wonderful and I can relate to many of the subject matters. I recommend this to anyone who's looking for Christian based entertainment.

Worth Every Penny!.......2006-11-23

I love David Talbert's work. These plays are worth every penny! I originally rented He Say She Say ...., I loved it so much that I decided to buy the three pack. I have watched these movies soooooooo many times! They are great for family gatherings as well. Instead of watching movies that everyone has seen, I pull this out of the collection and we have a blast! For many of my relatives, this was there first time hearing about these plays.

Clifton Powell is a great actor. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when his character haid the nerve to say, "You see, that's the problem with you 100% black people. I'm 37% Cherokee."

These plays will make you laugh, cry, get angry-they will take you through some emotions and remind you of things that you have heard of or seen in your lifetime.

Kudos to Mr. Talbert on a job well done!
