Editorial Review:
Amazon.com
Michael Hurst's blood-soaked directorial debut only sounds like a vampire flick. This violent tale of a heist gone sour is indebted to Reservoir Dogs and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, but trades the jagged humor and colorful personalities of those films for an unremittingly dark ambiance of duplicity and double-crosses. The plot hinges on a rather implausible premise: grief-ridden father John Hurt agrees to pose as a wealthy kidnap victim for his estranged son (Nick Moran), a doomed punk car thief, and in return the kid will donate his heart to save his dying sister. The twist is that Hurt will not come out of this alive and he knows it--just part of the fractured dynamic of guilt and vengeance between father and son. That's actually only the first of many twists in a devious little thriller where practically everyone has an ulterior motive and a complete lack of scruples. Hurst's script, told almost entirely in a quilt of flashbacks within flashbacks, is built on a shaky foundation of dubious logic and unlikely behavior: more than contrived, it's downright unbelievable. But his execution is sound: he winds up the long night of scheming lies in a chaotic graveside shootout and a smart, satisfying, quietly redemptive conclusion. Joe Pantoliano costars as a ruthless crew leader with a wild white mane of hair, and Carrie-Anne Moss is the cool, calculating heist mastermind. --Sean Axmaker

Even skeptical fans of the Blade franchise will enjoy sinking their teeth into Blade: Trinity. The law of diminishing returns is in full effect here, and the franchise is wearing out its welcome, but let's face it: any movie that features Jessica Biel as an ass-kicking vampire slayer and Parker Posey--yes, Parker Posey!--as a vamping vampire villainess can't be all bad, right? Those lovely ladies bring equal measures of relief and grief to Blade, the half-human, half-vampire once again played, with tongue more firmly in stone-cold cheek, by Wesley Snipes. With series writer David S. Goyer in the director's chair, the film is calculated for mainstream appeal, trading suspenseful horror for campy humor and choppy, nonsensical action. The franchise still offers some intriguing ideas, however, including Drake (Dominic Purcell), the original vampire, whose blood contains the secret that could destroy all blood-suckers in a plot that incorporates a sinister "blood farm" where humans are held--and drained--in suspended animation. And Biel's wise-cracking sidekick (Ryan Reynolds) in her cadre of "Nightstalkers" provides comic relief in a series that's grown increasingly dour. All of which makes Blade: Trinity a love-it-or-hate-it sequel... supposedly the last in a trilogy, but the ending suggests otherwise. --Jeff Shannon

Description

The final battle begins and the trinity comes to an end! Blade is back and his enemies have grown in number since they resurrected their king, Dracula. Together with a new group of vampire hunters, called the Nightstalkers, led by Whistler's strong but beautiful daughter Abigail and the wise-cracking Hannibal, they must finally defeat the vampires or face inevitable extinction.

2 out of 5 stars NOT AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL! 2 1/2 STARS.......2007-06-25

Once again, they blow it. The first Blade was great! The second and third are just OK. They are better than some other Marvel Comics movies, but they are no where near as good as the first film.

1 out of 5 stars The Third movie curse strikes again!.......2007-06-18

The third installment in the Blade series is a true disappointment and a sad conclusion to a promising trilogy. Wesley Snipes phones in a poor performance and the ussually good Dominic Percell is badly miscast as Dracula.
David Goyer, who wrote the previous two installments, seems bored with the task of completing his trilogy and shows that he hasn't quite mastered the art of directing yet. Blade the character is all but ommited from this movie, to be replaced by Ryan Reynold's and Jessica Beil's Nightstalkers. And Kriss Kristopherson's Whistler character is pointlessly killed off after he was ressurected in the last movie (for reasons abandoned in this one).
The tone of the film leans, sadly, toward the camp end of the spectrum, and some of the humor and one-liners may leave the bad tast of "Batman and Robin" in some viewer's mouths. while the special effects are clunky, as opposed to the cutting edge stuff seen in the previously in the series. The only bright spot in the movie is Ryan Reynolds as Hannibal King, who steals the show, but even Ryan can't save this mediocre mess. What a shame that the first Blade series, which saved comic book adaptations after the appaling "Batman and Robin", languishes here in what should have been a great movie. Watch Blade and Blade 2, but skip this one and go watch Blade: The series, which is by far superior to this dreck.

5 out of 5 stars Blade Trinity.......2007-04-06

Wow!! For a Blade junkie ( I have all three)This three series blast
has something new in every one, not like some three series or four
series we have wasted our money on. The new characters of Abigail
(Jessica Biel)(miss hottie) as they call her in the movie is stunning
and is headed on the fast track to Stardom. This hot chic can ACT. Watch for her in more
action flicks. Who knows , with Angelina Jolie, taking care of
all those kids (bless her heart)no, really. But I believe that Jessica
"Babe"Biels with the right long brown hair and the pointed chest could
make a great Laura Croft. And another eye candy in this film is Hannibal
( Ryan Reynolds). I have already seen him in a few films and he just
needs to keep pumping that iron and have those chained up shirtless body
shots and he is Hollywood royalty. I haven't mentioned our friend
Wesley Snipes, otherwise known as "Blade". he is great as always...
in this film and he really plays the straight man to the two new
characters mentioned above. This movie is one to buy and keep. The movie
starts with vampire action and doesn't stop till the end. So without
giving up too much info, the vampires need help from an ancient source,
and they want to kill Blade, of course...the " day walker" that he is.
The movie has special effects that will have you gapping, and all the vampire
killing gear has all been upgraded. It is funny, sad, corny, heart stopping
great sword fights and don't get in the way of Jessica, she shoots a mean
bow and arrow. It must have cost a lot of money to make this...because
things are blowing up all over the place. don't rent it--BUY IT! *****
it away, it is vampire uno verses Blade and his gang. If you don't get my hint

4 out of 5 stars Fun Biel Vehicle.......2007-03-19

I've enjoyed the Blade movies as fun, action packed "Vampire romps with a twist" ... but I will admit openly that the main reason I watched this one was the chance to see Jessica Biel in such a fun flick. To my personal tastes (and that's all they are), Action Adventure Babes have never been so enjoyable as those Ms. Biel portrays in her growing string of action and thriller movies. So I would have been quite happy with this movie if it had just been another chance for me to see my favorite AAB doing her thing. Frankly, I was afraid that the rest of the movie was going to be a let down for me, compared to the previous two Blade flicks, but I was pleasantly surprised and quickly went out to buy the DVD after seeing this one in the theater. For both Blade and Biel fans, I think this one's a very satisfying experience.

2 out of 5 stars Why?..........2007-03-09

This movie is a posterchild for not letting B-List actors have a say in what happens in the movie. Wesley Snipes is a great action star.... That's it!! He doesn't direct, he doesn't produce, and I think that the most actual acting he's done in a movie was "Wildcats" with Goldie. The movie stank, the actors stank King stole the show and saved the Seventh Heaven reject and the action superstar. Maybe they should do a movie on him. Until Wesley stops directing, make mine Spidey!!!!!!

Description

Winner of the Audience and Director's Awards at the Sundance Film Festival, the deeply affecting MY FLESH AND BLOOD follows one remarkable family's most tumultuous year as it confronts a litany of daily routines, celebrates life's small pleasures, and copes with major crises. Who says you can't choose your family? "I think when I found that I could survive raising four kids, that it wasn't that far of a leap to add another one," says Susan Tom of Fairfield, California, who has done more than just that, adopting 11 special needs children. For a single mother who receives only limited help from the state, Susan gives her kids love, hope, and as close to a normal childhood has possible. Her limits are tested, however, when her angry teenage son threatens one of his siblings. And after another child's condition becomes erratic, the entire family learns that living for the moment is the keystone to happiness. Tenderly directed by Jonathan Karsh, MY FLESH AND BLOOD presents a family portrait like no other--a bittersweet and unforgettable experience filled with unexpected humor, stirring pathos, and an optimistic view towards morality.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars hard to believe.......2007-01-25

Susan Tom is a divorced, single mother in California who after having two biological children adopted eleven handicapped children. This emotionally intense documentary film is not about a smiley Brady Bunch, but about a raucous household of children with serious and severe problems--mental, physical, emotional and medical. Faith was horribly disfigured in a fire as an infant. Xenia was born with no legs. Teenager Joe is a deeply angry and explosive child who threatens to kill Xenia; he eventually dies from Cystic Fibrosis. Others are mentally retarded. Susan describes herself as "fat but interesting." Both adjectives understate the case. She does not work outside the home, but instead supports everyone, and her $600 a week grocery bill, from SSI income. Margaret, age 18, is unwillingly conscripted to help make it all work, and breaks down in screams to get her mother's attention. Perhaps the mark of a fine film is that in watching it you think far more about its subjects than about how they are portrayed. My Flesh and Blood won the Audience Documentary Award at the 2003 Sundance festival.

5 out of 5 stars a good look at an unbelievable situation.......2007-01-16

This is an excellent, well made documentary. I like documentaries because in real life, we don't get the binary good-person/bad-person thing we do in fiction. Watching this movie, you see good things and bad things in all of the characters and in the living situation in which they find themselves. I couldn't help but be drawn into this documentary, and would recommend it to anyone with interest in adoption, family dynamics, individuals with special needs, or just looking for a good movie.

5 out of 5 stars My Flesh and Blood- Anthony Tom.......2007-01-06

One of the best documentaries I have ever seen. A family composed of a mother and thirteen children, eleven of them adopted, is followed for a year of their lives in such a way that each child can be appreciated as an individual, without disabilities or other special needs overshadowing the person. The extra features are excellent, too, especially the discussion between the filmmaker and the mother.

5 out of 5 stars My Flesh & Blood.......2007-01-03

Really great movie and it was from a real life experience so I enjoyed it even more. It is amazing what some people go through and still maintain their sanity as well as never giving up on people.

3 out of 5 stars Worth watching, but..........2006-12-31

This is an interesting and worthwhile movie, but it's incomplete. Margaret was left hanging at the end as we're left to wonder about her and her situation which makes the movie somewhat of a disappointment. One can't help but be a little skeptical about Susan's dedication to all her children when she so abruptly brushes Margaret off at a point when she's so obviously in need of some crucial emotional support. The extras give us a cursory explanation of this by the director, but Ben's comments lend insight of another sort.

The director dropped the ball by not following up on Margaret.

A philosophical quandary: when we truly get a glimpse behind the mask, do we like what we see? This eternal question is directly addressed in chapter 7 of the famed Friday the 13th gross-out series. Here, indestructible killing machine Jason meets his match in the form of a telekinetic teenage girl. Yes, it's "Carrie Goes Camping," although the young lady with special powers might have picked a better vacation spot than Crystal Lake, which has an awful track record for young blondes in tight jeans. This installment is exactly no better or worse than the previous Jason-o-ramas, with the added bonus of a climax in which the imperturbable Mr. Voorhees actually duels someone with supernatural gifts to rival his own. Yes, he does lose his hockey mask (the heroine mind-wills it to pop off), and the results ain't pretty--but then, neither is the Friday the 13th franchise. --Robert Horton

4 out of 5 stars Death Scenes Cut, But That Is What Jason Does Best!.......2007-01-26

"The New Blood" is definitely my favorite movie in the series, not only does Jason look great in the movie, but it is also the debut of Kane Hodder! This movie is worth the price alone just for how well Voorhees looks in the movie, this is definitely my favorite look by far. His spine and rib cage are clearly visible, so I guess it goes to show people what spending too much time in the water can do to your skin. I highly recommend this movie to fans of the series and this is a great film to see if you have never seen any other movie in the series, this is the one! The only problem with the movie is that the death scenes are cut and not up to standards of some other movies, so that is the reason I gave it a four star rating instead of five.

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite Friday! Read before BUYING!.......2006-11-19

This is BY FAR my favorite of them all.
It's sad too.
and VARY scary!
the scariest of them all.
SO what if you don't see the full version on the girl in the sleeping bag die! you still get to see her die the same way, just it takes Jason a shorter amount of time to kill her than in the theatrical version.
The overall plot of the movie might sound stupid and cheesy, but you'll regret it if you don't see this movie, and you're a fan of all the Friday the 13ths.

For 10 Bucks, this is a great deal.

3 out of 5 stars Jason is back for a seventh round of terror........2006-07-15

The pros and cons
Pros
1) Here comes Kane Hodder as pretty much the best Jason as said in other reviews.
2) Jason has a worthy opponent but a Carrie copycat.
3) Jason this time around becomes an intresting character and guess the other thing that is intresting about the movie?
Cons
1) As in the other releases of the movie it is just too bad the other intresting part of the movie is edited down. Shame Shame.
2) The DVD release has no special features and just the normal specifications. Not even a trailer as on the past 6 DVD releases.
3) Acting is not as decent and here comes the cheezy "stop fooling around" thing that has been going on on past F13 movies.
4) Dr. Crews goes over the edge towards his death or about starts to go over the edge once Tina's mom exposes him. You can tell because Jason is after both mommy and doc and the doc sacrifices mommy and it seems the doc doesn't care much and only cares about himself. This includes trying to use Tina's powers for his own good.
5) Even though this movie was a little decent for the "horror goods" (except the editing) it is just too bad that an awfully good Jason shows up in the next not so decent yet unimportant F13 chapter Jason Takes Manhattan.

In my opinion there are more cons than pros in the seventh chapter. Besides the list of cons this is a decent release. Concerning part of the cons consist of the DVD release.

2 out of 5 stars there are better ones...........2003-11-15

this pride was very slow and dull compared to the others. this and the PRIDE GP opening round may have been the slowest events in PRIDE history to take place. the fights are as followed:
1)Heath Herring vs. Willie Peters-nice quick finish and good display of skill
2)Carlos Barreto vs. Tra Telligman-relatively slow match of two fighters never really tryingvery hard to finish the fight
3)Alan Goes vs. Vernon "Tiger" White-ok fight but quite slow to. some action by Alan
4)Carlos Newton vs. Naoki Sano-slick ground kills displayed by newton
5)Akira Shoji vs. John Renken-average fight. renken was quite overmatched
6)Gilbert Yvel vs. Vitor Belfort-nice opening of the fight by vitor then it's stalling to the end. not the kind of fight you would expect from either fighter
7)Igor Vovchanchyn vs. Daijiro Matsui-lot of heart shown by matsui but what did PRIDE have in mind by making this match? Matsui had virtually no chance of winning over Igor. one of the better matches on this event that didn't go too long or too short
8)Ricco Rodriquez vs. Gary Goodridge-quite dissapointing for a main event, even to a real MMA fan. good technical Ground n Pound by Ricco.
this PRIDE had its share of slow matches and quick finishes. wouldn't recommend this over any of ther others but if you want this in your collection, go for it

5 out of 5 stars It's all good........2001-08-24

I'm a UFC fan, but enjoyed this Pride Fighting Championship.

Ricco Rodriquez vs. Gary Goodridge; Igor Vovchanchyn vs. Daijiro Matsui; Gilbert Yvel vs. Vitor Belfort; Akira Shoji vs. John Renken; Carlos Newton vs. Naoki Sano; Alan Goes vs. Vernon "Tiger" White; Carlos Barreto vs. Tra Telligman; Heath Herring vs. Willie Peters.

2 out of 5 stars Ground and Pound returns to haunt us.......2001-07-09

This show has lots of my favourite fighters but it is not as stellar as RETURN OF THE WARRIORS or BATTLE OF THE RISING SUN but PRIDE FC always puts on a better show than the clowns at your local YMCA could. Newton vs Sani is impressive ... also the Vernon White v Alan Goes match is pretty exciting but there are better PRIDEs you can buy. Even the Gilbert Yvel v Vitor match turns unfortunately dull....ground and pound...BORING!!!!!!!!!! Your money is better spent on either of the two Pride's I mentioned earlier...but thats just what I reckon.

4 out of 5 stars PRIDE FC's are a must have...PERIOD!!!.......2001-06-29

First off, let me start by saying PRIDE Fighting Championships is the best MMA organization in the world! The money invested in each tournament surpasses every MMA event in the US per year! One can see the difference when watching a PRIDE FC tape or DVD. PRIDE FC 9: New Blood is the fifth US release from the PRIDE organization, & hosts the top fighters from across the globe (as usual). The DVD version is packed with special features: Interactive Menus, Direct Fight Access, History of PRIDE Documentary, & Fight Highlights. The 'History of PRIDE Documentary' is a nice bonus. It highlights my favorite fighters (The Gracie's: Rickson, Royce, Royler, & Renzo). Every fight is top notch with such fighters as: Vernon "Tiger" White from the Lion's Den, Carlos Barreto & Vitor Belfort from the Brazilian Top Team, Gilbert Yvel from Golden Glory, Igor Vovchanchyn, Ricco Rodriguez, & the list goes on. I recommend purchasing the PRIDE collection in order. 1) GP 2000 Opening Rounds, 2) GP 2000 Finals, 3) 9: New Blood, 4) 10: Return of the Warriors, 5) 11: Battle of the Rising Sun. Out of the 5 US releases, they are all awesome, but PRIDE FC 10: Return of the Warriors is the best PRIDE of them all!!! Excellent KO's, Lots of Blood, & Broken Bones...the perfect combination!!!

    2 out of 5 stars A B Movie At Its Most Boring...........2005-10-24

Like another reviewer said, let's face facts, a lot of vampire films are either dull, weird, or downright dumb. Dull and a little stupidity makes this vampire film what it is.
It looked like an interesting vampire film at the video rental place. It looked a lot better than some of the other vampire films there. And though the movie I don't hate, I found extremely boring. Hardly anything happened. Most of the time they just talked and snarled at each other and these young ones were just dumb fledglings that are weak and destructive. Hardly as refined and secretive as the old ones, and you wonder why the old ones don't do anything about it. The old ones just sit there and talk and talk with one female that obviously sleeps around as a hobby...boring. Then these vampire hunters are hardly anything more than the stereotypical kind. This whole movie drips with stereotype. Except for the fact these vampires can go out at day, and usually always are. Hardly any real characters to care for, and the plot itself is one- minded besides the lead male vampire having the hots for a human female, which I could have cared less about. Nothing really new in this film that gives any spark, nor an interest. I would not recommend it. Try to find a better vampire film. A B movie at its most boring.

    1 out of 5 stars Homogenized & fang-free -- not undead but certainly un-fun.......2005-01-08

It's not scary, it's not sexy, it's not bloody, it's not intriguing. It's almost always daytime and it's not even worth the 84 min runtime.

Remember the characters in those '80s nighttime soaps? Dallas and the like? Imagine those lifeless shells as vampires and you've got this movie. Expect to see people walking the beach alone, pining alone in bed. Plotting endlessly, yet acting little.

3 out of 5 stars Pretty Good as vampire movies go.......2004-04-12

Let's face it, if you're a fan of the genre, you know that most vampire movies suck (no pun intended). This one doesn't. It's actually pretty good, especially if you like a view that's sympathetic to the vampires. The vampires in this movie are a subspecies of humans, with their own society and laws. Sounds sort of like Kindred, The Embraced, doesn't it? It even has the stylish old-world vampires at odds with the younger, rebel vampires. It also has the beautiful blonde human reporter who's in love with one of the vampires. The movie has some good twists, attractive women, cool settings...and it's entertaining.

    4 out of 5 stars I Love This Movie!.......2003-08-02

This is one of the few vampire movies I could watch again and again. It's not very gory but it's very entertaining nonetheless. It stars Jason London, and he plays his role as that of vampire-who-doesn'-t know-he's-a-vampire very well. Blood Ties has its very funny moments as well (I'm not sure they were supposed to be that funny...). Get this movie today. Happy watching!

3 out of 5 stars Views more like a murder drama than a vampire movie..........2003-03-11

Frankly, I'm surprised it even got an R rating. The story isn't half bad, except they break the cardinal rule that vampires can't exist in the daylight. In most ways they don't even seem like vampires--just a strange branch of humanity who can feed on blood when riled enough. Anyway, don't expect any nudity. What scenes there are could probably be boadcast without censorship, in my opinion. The violence must be what makes it restricted, but again compared to most vampire movies of today, the violence is very tame.

If you're looking for a borderline R vampire flick to watch with teen members of the family, this is it. Enjoy the tale. But, hardcore horror fans will think this extremely disappointing....

      4 out of 5 stars New everything.......2005-09-26

Weiss Kreuz Gluhen, comes with new caracter designs and few more surprises. The plot is much more suspenseful than the previous series. We still have Aya, Yohji, Ken and Omi, with the difference that Omi is playing a different role. Yohji & Ken will not appear in the first episode, but we'll see Aya (as usual) and a couple of new hunters. They are OK, but still they remind a little of Omi and Ken.
For the people who once read Orwell, there are some features in the plot that reminds "1984", specially when we have the existence of a sistem that monitors you all the time.
I liked it, the drawings are better than in the first series, although is kind of shocking the new designs os the characters, you'll appreciate that difference.

4 out of 5 stars You learn to love it.......2005-02-01

Despite the character design changes and the new additions to team, Gluhen does have its moments. I started off hating the series and everything that's new and different. But after a while as a devoted Weiss Kreuz (bah to Knight Hunters) fan, it grows on you. I really don't think Sena or Kyou (the newest additions to Weiss) needed to be there but that's Koyasu-sama's thing. I

I hated Yohji's new design with an unrivaled passion but once you hear his voice speak (I'm refering to Miki Shinichirou, not the American VA), it hits you that this is Yohji Kudou, playboy and chain smoker, despite the awful haircut and clothing.

If you like Weiss Kreuz, then buy it and watch with no regrets. I only gave this a 4 since they didn't have enough Schwarz in the series since they are my favorite team.

3 out of 5 stars Mainly for fans.......2004-12-25

Okay, I'll say what needs to be said: The best part of all Knight Hunters a.k.a. Weiss episodes are the opening and closing music bits and the outtakes. That's the case for ALL ANIMATED variations (seasons 1 and 2 of the TV series, the OVAS and Eternity).

That being said, Knight Hunters :Eternity is watchable and will get better in future volumes. For those who have a bit of anime knowledge, I'd say that Knight Hunters is a dramatic version of the comedies Excel Saga and Super Milk Chan. The flow of the story matches these two shows and your mind will feel the same way at the end..."O..kay. Next!"

For me, I've found that reading a synopsis of each episode and looking at screen caps is better than watching the actual show. However, fans of this series will be used to the technical faults of this show and will consider the new looks of the 4 main characters to be the most disturbing part of Eternity.

If you're not already a fan of this series, it's best to buy Eternity Vol. 1 used to see if you like it. If you sort of like it, but aren't thrilled, search the net and look up the music videos, outtakes, screen shots, and episode guides from the original Weiss episodes. You'll enjoy them more. If you hate this volume...well, you can always sell it again!

5 out of 5 stars Best approached with an open mind........2004-08-21

Like the original Weiss Kreuz, Gluhen (renamed Eternity File for its dubbed release) is best approached with few expectations. Fans of the original series should be advised that a number of changes are made in this new series, the characters' designs among the least of them, which may be off-putting to those who liked Weiss the way it was.

One of the biggest failings of the original Weiss Kreuz (renamed Knight Hunters for its western release, although the original title is German for "White Cross") was its poor animation quality - while the designs were pleasing enough to the eye, the consistency and quality of the animation were imperfect, and for an action-oriented anime there wasn't a great deal of action actually animated. The animation of this second series is greatly improved from the original; however, because of legal issues, the designs of the four main characters were changed. Aya and Ken fared all right, but Yoji looks as though he had a fight with a weedwhacker and lost, and wears an awful hat to boot.

Fans of Yoji, Ken, and Omi may find themselves disappointed with this volume; Gluhen introduces two new members of Weiss, Sena and Kyo, and Yoji and Ken won't appear until the next volume of episodes. A great deal of the focus of these episodes is spent on Sena, who fills Omi's shoes as the youngest and most naive member of the team. Omi himself is still present, but in a different capacity about which I hesitate to say more, lest I spoil. Aya, however, continues to play a strong role in the series, and his character is further developed.

The structure of the story is also changed. In the first series, the main villains had various operations which Weiss foiled, so there was something of a sense of progress and distinct character arcs. Gluhen, in contrast, focuses on a single operation throughout. Instead of individual operations, there are simply events which occur and which Weiss must face, and which frequently pass without much resolution. It's a better depiction of the covert-ops sort of organization Weiss is supposed to be - in the earlier seasons, the team was usually just given a target and sent out to kill them, with the intelligence work already done - but without a villain to dispatch in each episode, it's harder to get a sense of the team making much progress.

Additionally, Gluhen picks up directly after a number of drama CDs released in Japan but not available in the West, and without that background information it can seem like you're only getting about half the story.

Gluhen is more downbeat than the original series, and bloodier - although the body count per episode is much smaller, the original series showed only a little blood, while the new series animates its violence more realistically. Based on my limited knowledge, it seems to be closer to the original manga than the first series in its maturity. While it's technically superior to the original, fans may find it lacks the charm of its predecessor; still, it's worth seeing on its own strengths, provided one doesn't go into it expecting more of what they saw in the earlier series.

3 out of 5 stars Lacking the original charm..........2004-08-13

Knight Hunters Gluhen, taking place a while after the Knight Hunters series, has quite a few differences from the original. The animation is different and seemingly more consistant thus far. Though, I must admit I realllly don't like Youji and Omi's new character designs... A few new characters are introduced, given a few angsty flashbacks, and killed. ^^; I feel this series lacks the original's charm. The new characters are made overly angsty (betcha didn't think that was possible with this series). This series consists of one giant mission Weiss is sent on, oppposed to a bunch of missions as in the first series. Aya and two new member of Weiss are sent to a school to investigate the high number of recent suicides of students there. When they get there they find there is an even larger conspiracy at hand. Youji and Ken do not appear in this DVD, but will make their appearnace soon. The DVD still features the voice-actors' outtakes, which is always guaranteed to make you smile. I really enjoyed the opening and ending sequences. The songs and animation went well with each other. I think I probably enjoyed those sequences more than the episodes themselves. If you're a fan of the original you should check this out, just don't have very high expectations.
