DEFINATELY TOO AMAZING,,,,THEN AGAIN I'M A JOHN LIU FAN SO NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES,,,,HIS PERFORMACE TO ME IS USUALLY GOLD!!

Be that as it may,,this flick is a classic, the performace of an absolute lifetime,,,,check him out in Invincible Armour,,,now that is off the charts!!

5 out of 5 stars BADASS.......2006-02-28

(...)
In this movie Ng-see yuen wanted to make a movie that was unique. And that he did. There is a lot of focus in this movie in concentrating on leg fighting. There is also a very large emphasis on HARD HITTING. Don Wong Tao is the best he has ever been in this one.

3 out of 5 stars Okay.......2005-08-09

This movie was okay, nothing special about it. I'd watch it again if I was bored.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Kung Fu Films Finally On DVD!.......2004-05-30

Secret Rivals & Secret Rivals 2 may be the two best independant kung fu films ever made. Starring two great martial artists, Wang Tao and John Liu, in the hero roles and one of the greatest kickers on screen kickers, Hwang Jang Lee, in the villian role. The fights in both films are excellent with the second film having even more action then the first! Also Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fight director, Yuen Woo Ping, directed the fights in the second film. The DVD's look very good as they are both widescreen. If you're a martial arts film fan, these two films are musts for your collection!

1 out of 5 stars Big problem with this DVD.......2007-04-21

About every 5 minutes, the DVD will skip ahead a couple scenes. The only way to watch the movie all the way through without having to rewind is to keep the time display on the screen so you know when a chapter is going to end. When the chapter is about to end, fast forward through to the next scene and press play once the new scene starts. This will stop it from skipping. It wasn't too hard to figure out how to play the DVD, but this is still an unexcuseable release from Videoasia.

A new master has taken over some clan and Cassanova Wong looks to take revenge for his mom on the new master. Don't quote me on any of the details because the movie is really hard to follow. Bad directing doesn't even come close to describing how some of the sequences play out. Cassanova Wong runs into some guys who are looking for a secret document. After Cassanova takes care of the thugs, one immediately repents for his actions and seems like a good guy now. All of a sudden, a woman that Cassanova just met throws the secret document over to the bad guy. Cassanova is like "what, you have this secret document, I need that!" Then the bad guy throws knives at Cassanova and the woman and laughs while he runs off. That is the best I can explain the scene, but there are many scenes that would take much longer to describe. When Cassanova goes to Devil Valley he gets captured. A man shows up literally out of nowhere to save him and before this guy gets captured, Phillip Ko rescues him. Ko treats him while a comical monk saves Cassanova and treats him. I have to stop talking about the story because it is all nonsense. The movie comes down to a final battle with the evil master and some badly painted bronzemen. When I say badly painted, I mean the hero will show up with a clean all white or all black outfit and half way through the fight he will be covered with bronze paint. Classic!

The story is completely intolerable, but the kung fu is above average in a couple of fights. When Cassanova starts kicking, it's hard for him to look bad. Cassanova fighting the hundred or so bronzemen is funny. They all run around while he kicks them one by one. Sadly, Phillip Ko just has a throw away role. He plays Cassanova's master in a brief appearence and only gets to show off a few moves. He does show up at the end to take on some of the bronzemen.

1.5/5

Picture quality is watchable.

2 out of 5 stars Good martial art actors, bad movie.......2006-04-07

I purchased this movie because it stared two computant fight movie actors Phillip Ko and Cassanova Wong aspecially Phillip Ko who has done some great work over the years. Casssanova Wongs work in Warriors Two and North South Shaolin was very impressive. In this movie the action is badly choragraphed and the movie is stuck in the insta, action mode, Phillip Ko only appears in one fight and is quickly dispensed. The movie has plenty of action but I found it hard to sit through maybe its a good thing that the DVD it stuck in the insta action mode I could'nt watch the hold movie.
