5 out of 5 stars The Glory Days..........2007-01-26

I recommend getting this since the Patriots lost to the Colts in the Playoffs this year. All my friends, who don't like the Patriots and are tired of seeing them in the Superbowl are happy to see them out, BUT, when they come over to visit during the year I play these DVDs so when they come in the door the patriots are still the winning team !p.s. I also, believe Brady and Manning became good friends and Brady helped his friend get to the Superbowl this time.

5 out of 5 stars The Greatest Team of All-Time.......2006-05-11

I am a die-hard Patriots fan. I have 20 some jerseys in my closet, I have over 30 different Patriots caps. During football season I wear a different Patriots outfit everyday.
I have 5 Tom Brady jerseys (white authentic, Blue authentic, blue equipment replica, and two throwback replicas). He is my favoite Patriot player and my all-time favorite player.
The dynasty began September 23 2001, when starting quaterback Drew Bledsoe went down during a loss to the NY Jets. I thought we were done. We already 0-2, we had a none existing offense and a no-name defense. I was big Drew Blesdoe guy, he got us to Superbowl in 1996-97, and he held all the passing records. In 1994 he set the record for most passes and completions in a game vs. Minnisoda. I route for him in dallas eventhough I hate Dallas.
Tom came in there and guided us to big upset win against Peyton and the colts. From there Tom only lost two more starts (miami and St.Louis). We finished with a 11-5 record and a second seed in the playoffs. We slipped passed Oakland in the snow. We got help from the refs, the infamous tuck rule. Adam kicked a game winning FG in the snow. We won 16-13.
The next week Tom was out with an injury. The class act Drew is, he stepped up and started that game. We traveled to Pittsburgh and defeated the steelers 24-17.
Then came Superbowl XXVII, we entered the game as 17-pt underdogs against the Greatest show on turf the St. Louis Rams. This was back when Kurt Warner could play quaterback. They already defeated us during the season.
From the getgo we dominated the game. We took a 17-3 lead to the 3rd quarter. It would of been 24-3 in the 3rd but the interseption return was called back because of a McGinest holding penalty.
The Rams quickly came. Ricky Prhoel scored the tying touchdown. It was tied 17-17. We got the ball late in 4th. With 1 minute 25 seconds left Tom Drove the ball down the field. Adam kicked the game winning FG as time expired. For the 1st time in 42 years we were World-Champs.
In 2002 we took a step back. We finished 9-7 an failed to make the playoffs.
In 2003 after an opening 31-0 loss to Buffalo, and the release of Lawyer Milloy we came back. We won our final 12 games. We cruised through the playoffs, defeating the Titans and the Colts. Superbowl XXVIII would shape out to be the greatest super-bowl of all time. We defeated Carolina 32-29. Carolina made some mental mistakes towards the end, and we captolized on them. Adam once agian kicked the game winning FG to win the game.
In 2004 the Indianoplis Colts were the clear favorites to win it all. As we all know Peyton Manning can't win the big games. We beat Indy 27-24 , the 1st game of 04. That gave home field adavantage over the colts. We set a milestone with 21 consecutive victories. We lost two games against Pittsburgh and Miami. All year the Steelers were the best team finishing 15-1.
In the playoffs we defeated Manning 24-14 in the snow. We all know Peyton can't play in the snow. Once again we traveled to Pittsburgh. Steelers rookie QB Big Ben made alot of mistakes and we took advange. We defeated Pittsbugh and we headed to our second straight Superbowl.
This time we faced a tough Philadelphia Eagles team, led by Donovan McNabb, and Terrell Owens. Philly took a 7-0 lead, we tied it up in the 3rd. We almost put the put the game away, enjoying a 24-14 lead late in the game. Philly game back and made it a 3pt game. Philly had ball late and was driving. McNabb threw a late int, and we celebrated our 3 superbowl win three years. The dynasty ended February 6th 2005 ?
I'm sure if you are Pats fan you alreay own this.

4 out of 5 stars How does a Super Bowl champion end up overlooked in its own home town?.......2005-10-24

By winning their third title in four years the same year that the baseball team that defines the hopes and dreams of generations of New Englanders wins its first World Series in 86 years.

It's true, the Patriots somehow pieced together a team that, despite a string of injuries that seemed to defy all rationality and managed to finish a second consecutive campaign as Super Bowl champions with a 17-2 record (which just as easily could have/should have been 18-1)...but the 2004 Boston Red Sox completely sucked the oxygen out of the American Sports atmosphere and somehow the 2004 Patriots season just doesn't seem to measure up to the previous title years of 2001 and 2003. Part of the reason is that the previous years seemed to have their own personalities (2001 having 9/11, the coming-of-age of Tom Brady, the Snow Bowl, and the unbelievable finish of what was probably the most exciting Super Bowl ever. 2003 had the release of Lawyer Milloy, the early stumbles to Buffalo and Washington, the birth of the winning streak, winter weather in Foxboro, and yet another thrilling Super Bowl finish); 2004 just seemed like an anticlimax by comparison, like you were watching a scripted performance that was always going to end with the "W" on the Patriots' side of the field.

This is not to say that there were not intriguing challenges that made for good storytelling...the injuries (leading to the incredible "throwback" two-way play of veteran Wide Receiver/rookie Cornerback Troy Brown), the continued winning streak, the rebirth of offseason acquisition Corey Dillon, the continuing mastery of the Indianapolis Colts, and the return to Pittsburgh (where the record 21-game winning streak came to an emphatic end on Halloween (just days after the Red Sox won the World Series, karmically enough), where University of Michigan graduate Tom Brady resurrected himself from a triple-digit fever the night before to thoroughly dismantle the best regarded defense in the NFL to send the Patriots back to the Super Bowl, this time in the unfairly maligned city of Jacksonville, FL.

No nail-biting endings this time, though...despite the best efforts of Terrell Owens to come back from a leg and ankle injury that would have ended the season of anyone else (with the possible exception of Curt Schilling, of course), the Eagles All-Pro was clearly the second-best receiver on the field as Deion Branch won the Super Bowl MVP for a record day (Safetyman and Render Of Mayhem Extraordinaire Rodney Harrison would have been my pick, actually) and the Patriots, though trailing early, never really seemed in doubt of winning a game they led by 10 points late before prevailing by the final score of 24-21 which in truth flattered the Eagles more than they deserved.

Far be it that a season ending with a record of 17-2 and another Super Bowl ring should be considered hum-drum, but there was something missing from the 2004 campaign that, impressive as it was, just doesn't translate to the memorable re-telling that the Pats' previous title years do. This is a great DVD for Pats fans, indispensible even, but for the casual fan who appreciates the drama that a good NFL season can bring, I would recommend either of the previous Patriots highlights DVD's over this one.

3 out of 5 stars Super Bowl XXXIX - New England Patriots Championship Video.......2005-10-13

Pretty good. In addition to the post-season and Superbowl recaps, the DVD also features highlights from all the regular season games. And one of the bonus features is the Superbowl game itself (edited for huddles, timeouts, etc. but keeping in significant replay videos and the like). Now, I find these DVDs are always short on some things; it's hard to please regular fans, especially those of the Superbowl winner. But this offering has its place, especially with Pats fans. They will find it entertaining and worth the price.

this 2-pack, dvd was a really good portrayal of most important moments of both the super bowls, xxxvi and xxxviii. for the low price of this dvd, i am very satisfied with every feature.

4 out of 5 stars ESSENTIAL FOR ANY PATRIOTS FAN.......2007-03-21

Although sadly there isn't full coverage of superbowl XXXVI, this double pack still has all the glory of the two most amazing moments for any long suffering patriot fan like me. you can relive that joy as we finally won a superbowl (WHAT? NEW ENGLAND? YEAH! IT HAPPENED!) over and over. I was disappointed with the lack of extra's and the incessant music got pretty irritating, but all the same, how can anyone be unhappy with watching the patriots defining times of glory after all the misery and disappointment of losing for so many years? You just got to buy it, you just do.

5 out of 5 stars "Tonight a dynasty is born, baby!" - R. Proehl Feb 3, 2002.......2005-10-10

This set is simply a must for all fans of the New England Patriots! The set contains two individually packaged DVDs featuring highlights of the 2001 and 2003 seasons from training camp to the Super Bowl. The first disc, entiltled "Super Bowl XXXVI Champions" has bonus material that includes the Super Bowl halftime show with U2 and a feature on the 1976 Patriots. The second disc, entitled "Super Bowl XXXVIII Champions" has bonus material that includes the world broadcast of the Super Bowl which shows every play from the game. I've watched these great DVDs more times than I can count! As Bill Belichick said after winning Super Bowl XXXVIII, "This never gets old!"

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic Way To Remember The Patriots First 2 Championships.......2005-06-10

Unlike the 2001 season DVD, this one has a lot more footage but I wish they had even more behind the scenes footage in the locker room. Aside from that, the recap of all the games is very good and it details a great playoff season as well. Solid DVD and any Patriots fan will not be disappointed!!

**** RECOMMENDED

If you are a Patriots fan there is no way you cannot enjoy this DVD reliving the magical 2001 season, the "Snow Game", and Super Bowl XXXVI.

The only problem I have with this DVD is it's too short -- every Super Bowl DVD after this one has hours of footage instead of just an hour but you will NOT be disappointed with what is on this disc!!

**** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

4 out of 5 stars Review of 3 Games to Glory III.......2006-05-13

Introduction

3 Games to Glory III is a two-disc video compilation of the 2004 New England Patriots playoffs, including their Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX. This Super Bowl victory was the Patriots third in four years, marking them as the team of `00s. For New England Patriots fans it's a chance to relive the glory of back-to-back Super Bowl victories and three championships in four years. Non-New England Patriots fans probably would not particularly enjoy this in-depth video.

Main Features

3 Games to Glory III provides extensive highlights of both New England Patriots' playoff wins and Super Bowl victory after the 2004 season.

These playoffs found New England once again schooling the Indianapolis Colts in yet another year where Peyton Manning and the vaunted Colts offensive choke under playoff pressure. The high flying Colts offense was throttled by the superior schemes and tough play of the Patriots in a 20-3 AFC Divisional Playoff win at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

This is followed by New England's dramatic defeat of the Pittsburgh Steelers, 41-27, in the AFC Championship Game at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. The Patriots entered this game as decided underdogs to the 15-1 Steelers after being throttled by Pittsburgh earlier in the season.

Finally, you get to enjoy the extensive highlights of New England's impressive 24-21 win over the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles. This is yet another game where New England's superior execution and stamina in the later stages of the game brought them ultimate glory. The Super Bowl was played in Jacksonville, Florida on February 6, 2005.

The highlights of each game are very extensive and seem to cover nearly every play. They are also mostly well done, but frankly the highlights often fail to capture the real drama of the game. Of course no highlight reel can match the excitement and drama of a live contest, but there are times when key turning points of the game really just become another quick hit in the video.

There are a few disappointments in this video though and it's not quite as well done as the preceding 3 Games to Glory II (covering the Patriots playoff run and Super Bowl victory after the 2003 season). First, there is not as much pre-game drama and preparation presented in these videos compared to last year. Secondly, there are not as many close up, on the field shots that bring the game right into your living room. It's much more distant and not as close up as previous editions in this series.

Despite these drawbacks, it's still great to relive a great season through these videos.

Bonus Features

The bonus features on this edition of 3 Games to Glory are not nearly as good as the ones on 3 Games to Glory II. The bonus features are nice they just didn't live up the standard in the previous edition. Following is a brief rundown of what you'll get on the DVD.

There are some "Bill Belichick" breakdowns of key plays for each game but there are very few of them and really leaves the viewer wanting more.

There's also a "Points After: Sounds of the Game" which shows post-Super Bowl press conference features, but again, it's really short and leaves you wanting more.

The "Patriot's All Access" which appears along with each of the playoff and Super Bowl wins shows locker room scenes and practices, team meetings, and other shots of players as they prepare for games. These are pretty well done short features that add a great deal to the video.

The "All Access" section for the Super Bowl of course included pre-game plane trip, post game party and the parade. I find these a bit boring frankly, but I guess it's nice to see the players up close on their daily routines.

The Super Bowl Highlights are shown twice, once with the regular commentary and once with commentary from Rosevelt Colvin (LB), Ted Johnson (LB), and Matt Light (T). Matt Light is a funny guy and this was more entertaining than the one last year.

I thought the best bonus feature was one on Disc Two called "Views from the Past" with interviews with three great players from previous decades - Gino Cappelletti of the 1960's, Michael Haynes of the 1970's, and Andre Tippett of the 1980's and 1990's. This conversation was mostly about comparing this current Patriots' team with teams of the past and how the game has changed over the decades.

Finally, the video has the 2005 playoff roster, Super Bowl stats, and 2005 game by game results - just like you can get in any book, it just shows it printed on the screen.

Overall, while all these bonus features are nice, 3 Games to Glory III is not nearly as good as 3 Games to Glory II. It did not include an extensive behind the scenes segment on the Super Bowl, which I found fascinating on the previous edition, nor did it have highlights for each game of the regular season like the previous edition. I found the lack of these too items very disappointing as I thought they were outstanding editions to last year's disc.

Nevertheless, the bonus features overall are nice, just nice as nice as last time.

Bottom Line

All New England fans should enjoy reliving a third Super Bowl win through this highlights package. It's mostly well done and certainly brings back great memories of a great season. Those who are not Patriots fans I am sure would find the video quite boring.

Disclaimer: I am a die hard New England Patriots fan and am totally biased in this review.

5 out of 5 stars Best 6hrs of my life.......2006-02-14

I bought this DVD right at the end of the 2005 season after the game against the Broncos. I was down in the dumps as most "fans of New England" were so I needed a pick me up and all of my ice cream was gone. I had so much fun watching this DVD. Starting with the game against the Colts I remember being so excited when I first watched the game on TV but watching it again (without commercials and annoying officals) was even better. Any true Patriots fan needs to own this. Also the All Access footage is great (the whole pre-trip and trip to the Super Bowl is great!)

No one expected great things for the 2001 New England Patriots, and their upstart reputation persisted until the final seconds of Super Bowl XXXVI, when a winning field goal at long last established them as football's best. This rousing NFL Films production follows their entire season, beginning with a horrendous 1-3 record and the loss of quarterback Drew Bledsoe before they kept finding ways to win in a season that couldn't help but be emotional. Playing when America was attacked and went to war held a special meaning for the Patriots, who at one game paid tribute to teammate Joe Andruzzi's three brothers who work as New York City firefighters. The Patriots' postseason victories, including a memorable overtime upset in a snowstorm against the fearsome Raiders, are dramatically depicted. And 17 minutes of highlights from the Super Bowl game against the heavily favored St. Louis Rams are presented with all the devotion that only NFL Films can bring. --Robert J. McNamara

1 out of 5 stars an amazing moment of history, sadly not remembered very well on this DVD.......2007-03-21

As a long suffering Pats fan since birth, we had seen all the misery of losing, losing, losing and finally getting to 2 superbowls and hey.....losing! That all changed in New Orleans 2001 and what a feeling that was. WE FINALLY WIN !!!! sadly this incredible moment of glory and joy is not commemorated very well on this DVD. It's far too short for starters and there isn't full coverage of the superbowl. why?! I know it was a dull game but we still won our first superbowl ever. Why not the full game play by play? I also found the music pretty irritating and the extra's were minimal and lousy. If you were lucky enough to have taped the game as it was on TV that night, stick to that and don't waste your money on this trash.

5 out of 5 stars BEYOND INSPIRATION.......2007-01-16

Being from New England, it is easy to say that this to me was one of the greatest things that ever happened, ever, the amazing 2001 season from the N.E. Patriots. Even if you ain't that into sports, maybe just inspirational films that put a huge sh** eating grin on your face... this is a DVD to own (at least to check out..)
I of course was issued a copy of this after the Superbowl win in 2002, being from New England, but only dug it out recently to view it. Besides telling the story in detail about the season, game for game, it is also produced very well, by using the real NFL film footage, that is much more in depth than what we all saw on TV back when it happened. Right on the sidelines with the players, you get to watch (half the time you can see that they are almost as amazed with themselves as we were)
I guess I should spare the story, because it is written in every other review here, and really its much better shown on the DVD, but to remember the state of the team at that point... Last place underdogs the WHOLE season. Even as the team barrel rolled and got bigger and better, game for game, no one believed they would do it (maybe us New Englanders did, but we were still crossing our fingers pretty damned hard).. but everytime the stakes got higher, the team got hotter (not to mention a few divine miracles, like the enormous hurricane during the Raiders game)
You just gotta watch this thing, and see how crazy the team really got, spectacular moves all over. This is one of those sports stories that should grace the big screen... a story you couldn't make up.
Rock on PATS!

P.S. Regarding the tribute to 9/11, god bless to all....
but I REALLY hate U2!

4 out of 5 stars Relive New Englands First Super Bowl Championship.......2006-05-24

New England Patriots fans will no doubt want to add this Super Bowl XXXVI DVD to their collection. This highlights package of the 2001 NFL football season culminated in the Patriots winning their first league championship under difficult circumstances.

As with all other NFL championship DVDs, this is a little over an hour long highlights package of every New England Patriots regular season and playoff game, along with even more extensive highlights of the New England Patriots exciting, dramatic victory over the St. Louis Rams, 20-17, in Super Bowl XXXXVI.

This video includes many interviews, sideline sound bites, and locker room scenes throughout the season, which really brings to life the players and coaches on this fabulous team. While I always feel these video packages do not do a great job of highlighting the drama of specific games, including those in the playoffs, it does do a good of job of conveying the drama of this very interesting, unusual season for the Patriots. First, many may forget the Patriots started out 0-2, and were only 5-5 at one point in the season. Few expected this team to go too far, especially not to the Super Bowl. Probably more important, the producers of this video did a very nice job of dealing with the quarterback controversy - or lack thereof - that emerged when Tom Brady took over for the injured Drew Bledsoe, the long time New England starter. Bledsoe suffered a severe chest injury in the second regular season game against the Jets. Once Bledsoe was cleared to play later in the season, Brady kept the starting job because the Patriots were winning and Brady was on a roll. This DVD includes in season interviews with both quarterbacks talking about their situation. While there was a lot more tension on the team than is seen in the video or that the Patriots have ever made public, Bledsoe must be given great credit for not tearing the team apart and ruining their chances of success. Given his long tenure as the starter and close relationship with the players on the team, he could have easily caused great dissension on the team and split apart the locker room. But he accepted his new role with professionalism, maturity, and dignity which should endear him to most Patriots fans. Bledsoe's earned his Super Bowl ring through his maturity and his great play in the AFC Championship game against Pittsburgh when Brady twisted his ankle early in the game. This video does a nice job of highlighting and dealing with situation as the season progressed.

The video also does a nice job with the more extensive highlights of New England's playoff victories. The first, against the Oakland Raiders in the AFC Divisional Playoff game, 16-13, took place in a blizzard. This game featured the overturning of an apparent Brady fumble, under the now infamous "Tuck Rule," that would have cost the Patriots the game and some of the most amazing kicking in ridiculously bad weather by Adam Vinateri. The Patriots 24-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh featured sterling play by Bledsoe when Tom Brady went down with an injury early in the game, and a Troy Brown return of a blocked field goal that help seal the game for the Patriots.

Finally, of course, there are even more extensive highlights of the dramatic 20-17 Super Bowl victory over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI on a last second field goal by Adam Vinateri that was preceded by a gutsy, long drive by the Patriots with less than two minutes to go after the Rams tied the score late in the game. I still get tears in my eyes watching that kick sail through the uprights to secure our first Super Bowl victory.

The Special Features on the video are also nicely done. While I was disappointed the entire Super Bowl game was not on the video, the bonus material is quite worthwhile, even if the segments are a bit short. The bonus features include "NFL Salutes America," showing player reactions to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as well as the halftime show, featuring U2, which I frankly have never watched.

More interesting, and important to New England fans are the three short segments about the team itself (about five minutes a piece). First, there is a segment on the 1976 Patriots, which many consider to be the most talented Patriots team ever, which was robbed in a playoff loss against the Oakland Raiders on a bogus roughing the passer call late in the game. A second features one of New England's star players of the 1960's, Gino Cappelletti, who is now a broadcaster for Patriots game. And my favorite segment of all is on the tough, gritty Steve Grogan, the Patriots quarterback in the 1970's who I was a role model for me as kid.

This video is highly recommend for New England Patriots fans.

Disclaimer: I am a die hard New England Patriots fan and am totally biased in this review.

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic Way To Remember The Patriots 2001 Season.......2005-06-09

3 out of 5 stars A good overview of the 2001 Pats Season..........2005-02-09

As I write this, the Patriots have won their 3rd superbowl in 4 years during the salary cap era. What an amazing game by both the Pats and Eagles (though I'm glad the Pats won). It gives you some insights and clips of some of the Pats teams from the 1976 Patriots as well as highlights of Gino Cappelletti and Steve Grogan. Just amazing to think what has happened with the Pats. I also have to quote and old review that I saw here, with my reply below:

Such a shame, January 23, 2003
Reviewer: A viewer
Being a St. louis Rams fan it hurt me to see them lose a super bowl to a below average team that they should have beat. But, I guess even losers have to win sometime.

>>>>>>>>>> Yeah, quite an average team to win 3 out of 4 superbowls this decade. :-)

I just wish they would have made a Superbowl DVD of the Rams/Titans game. Now that was a superbowl. Two teams who have never won a super bowl going at it. And a comment to the Patriots fan in Salem.......at least we went to the playoffs the following year after our super bowl win. What happened to the patriots???? And by the way, who taught you how to type????

>>>>>>>>> 2 Superbowls in a row...... How words can come back to haunt us.

Anyway, enjoy the DVD. It is harder to find than superbowl 38, which is still in the stores. I think there should be a comprehensive DVD on the whole history of the Partiots from 1960-2005, including player interviews (both current and former players), game scores, playoff apperances, superbowl appearances, and maybe some interactive features I haven't thought of.

5 out of 5 stars A must for New England sports fans.......2006-11-24

The only downside of the DVD is that the producers didn't wait a few months before putting it together so they could have included the Patriots third and, arguably, most impressive Super Bowl title.
Still, it is a great trip down memory lane brought to you by individuals (Boston Globe reporters) who often had the perfect seats as the historical events unfolded.
Another plus is that the DVD does not focus solely on the Red Sox and everybody else. Basketball, football, hockey, golf, the marathon and other sports and events are all given their due. And, in doing so, those athletes involved are also given theirs (at least to the point time restraints would allow).
Another strength is the insight into the personalities of some of Boston's greatest sports figures. Perhaps the best example of this inclusion, and a good example of way the DVD works, is reporter Dan Shaughnessy's retelling of his free throw competition with the great Larry Bird. The comical and predictable outcome gives a glimpse of Bird's character that can not be captured in standard coverage. A great bit.

2 out of 5 stars Too much talk..........2006-01-18

If you like lots of talking and pictures, then this is the DVD for you. I was expecting much more footage and excitment, something this DVD was sorely lacking. Instead of feeling the "goosebumps" I was yawning. I thought this was going to be more like the DVD "City of Champions: The Best of Boston Sports", but it was anything but. City of Champions uses music from bands like Aerosmith and Pearl Jam to bring the moments to life. Here, they just sit there. Almost unexciting. If you want a grandfather's tale of boston sports legends, then this is for you. If you want to scream into your TV and get out of your seat and cheer, then get City of Champions. It's by far the best Sports DVD I've ever seen.

5 out of 5 stars Great DVD!.......2005-12-04

Great detail and wonderful to watch. If you didn't know Boston before you will after watching this. Good job!

5 out of 5 stars Every City Should Have a DVD Like This.......2005-03-19

When I popped this DVD into the player and began watching, my initial thought was "oh, boy, what did I waste my money on?" But I watched on, and it didn't take long for me to think that every major newspaper in every major city should consider producing a DVD like this for its collective sports history. This DVD was delightful. Please allow me a moment to tell you why I think so:

First of all, I'm from New Hampshire and I've followed all these Boston teams for my whole 37 years. As a teen, I watched the sports report on all three major Boston stations at about 6:30 or so every night to keep up on the news and get a few different spins on a story.

Although it starts out kinda "hokey," this DVD comes through with all of the big stories going back fifty years and in some cases, more. It brings back memories of the Bruins of the early 70's and Bobby Orr, the great sports championships of the Celtics, the quirky tales of the Patriots, and so many painful close calls from the Red Sox. It covers the tragedies of Lenny Bias and Reggie Lewis, Tony C., and the ball between Buckner's legs. It covers the 80 US Olympic Hockey team, the recent championships by the Patriots, and has a large section on "the Greatest Story of them All," the 2004 Red Sox comeback against the Yankees and World Series Victory against the Cardinals.

And lots of little stuff that you might have forgotten about. Nancy Kerrigan's knee, the Ted Williams tribute at the '99 All Star Game, Harry Agganis. And it tells a ton of stories from the perspectives of the Boston Globe reporters -- and photographers -- who were there.

I loaned this DVD to my parents recently, and my mother loved it. That's my MOM. They watched half of it one night and half of it the next. My wife really enjoyed it, too. It was nice because we could stop the DVD and talk about the event, what we remembered about it and where we were at the time.

But, I digress; this really is an outstanding DVD of Boston Sports Memories, and I wish that every city could have such an offering for its sports fans.

5 out of 5 stars Boston's Greatest Sports Movie, Beyond The Headlines.......2004-12-06

This movie is the best 3 hours a Boston sports fan can spend in front of the DVD player. Told through the eyes of sports writers, it gives a resfreshingly honest perspective of some of the best moments in Boston sports history. The 2004 Sox World Series section is AWESOME!!! At 24 years old, I've missed out on a lot of the stories told by this video, so this was a great way to relive them. Buy it and watch it!

You don't have to be a New England Patriots fan to enjoy this 3-hour DVD from NFL Films, but it sure helps. The highlight is found in the extras--every play from Super Bowl XXXVIII (the best ever, dare we say?), in which the Patriots prevailed 32-29 over the Carolina Panthers. Using the TV feed for visuals with the radio feed with Dick Stockton, you can view every play in just over an hour with a great deal of the excitement still intact. On-screen graphics and a few replays keep you in the action, and only purists will resist the chance to relive the exciting game in this condensed format. Other extras include in-depth game analysis, highlights from "media day," and post-game interviews (some right on the field). Unlike previous highlight packages, there are no performances from the pre-game or notorious halftime show. The main hour-long program recaps the Patriots 17-win season with NFL Films' winning mix of excellent photography, invigorating music, tightly edited player interviews, and the poetic mastery of narrator Harry Kalas. --Doug Thomas

I just love what Warner Brothers did for this dvd. I have loved the Pats for years and even though I live in Missouri now I still suport my home team even though kids hate them here. Tom Brady is the best quarterback ever and I like to see him play well. I honor every Pats super bowl victory to be deticated to my whole familey in Fitchburg Massachusetts!
LOVE YOU NEW ENGLAND!!!

4 out of 5 stars This video is edited I hate the FCC.......2005-07-19

The New England Patriots are playing against the Carolina Panthers. A part of me wanted the panters to win cause the Panthers quarterback was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and I'm a Louisiana person myself. But I also wanted the Patriots to win more. The first quarter was so sloppy it was just a pitiful lousey game. When the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter came it started to get better and better. The same guy that kick the field goal and score the winning point for the Patroits 2 years has now done it for this game right before the clock ran out. Tom Brady has now two championship rings. I was dissapointed that this dvd didn't show the super bowl halftime show with Janet Jackson exposed her boob. When is the uncut verson coming out.

4 out of 5 stars Great Way To Remember The 2003 Season.......2005-06-09

Unlike the 2001 season DVD, this one has a lot more footage but I wish they had even more behind the scenes footage in the locker room. Aside from that, the recap of all the games is very good and it details a great playoff season as well. Solid DVD and any Patriots fan will not be disappointed!!

5 out of 5 stars JUST GREAT.......2005-02-11

The night before XXXIX I watched this and just hoped that Patriots would repeat. There are three segments of this DVD that really showcase Brady. The first is an early season game when he is in the pocket making his reads. In slow motion you see his head move from left to right 1, 2, 3, and then he zips the ball to his receiver. The second shows his pocket presence. As the pocket colapses he deftly pushes off his lineman, directs his his recever and passes for a competion. The last is the coin toss of an overtime game. The Ref tosses the coin and then there is some disagreement about what the opposing team called. Brady says to the ref, "look at him, he knows he's lying." It's just funny.

The Patriots have always been a team I root for. I guess as a Minnesota resident, the only time I would not want them to win is if they were playing the Vikequeens.

This DVD is not 22 minutes long! It covers most of the Pat's biggest games and each of the playoff victories and the Super Bowl. It contains many behind the scenes material including locker room talks by Coach Belichick. You must have this DVD if you are a Patriots crazed fan like me.

3 out of 5 stars Twenty two minutes with the Patriots.......2004-02-24

If you are a fan of the New England Patriots and wish to have a complete narrative from their first Super Bowl win in 2002 and their second in 2004, as crafted by the great photographers and editors at NFL Films, then this disc might be for you. Be aware, however that it is less than half an hour long. Acheving this running time is easy since only games which the Patriots won are presented. There are no menus, or extra features. There is a tasteful introduction sequence and a well written narration read with classic NFL Films bravado. If nothing else, this video would set-up the 2004 video nicely.

      Product Description

Narrated by actress and Air America Radio host Janeane Garofalo, THE PEACE PATRIOTS is an intimate portrait of American dissenters reflecting on their personal participation as engaged citizens in a time of war. Filmmaker Robbie Leppzer chronicles the story of people living in one area of New England-the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts-who oppose the U.S. invasion and on-going military occupation of Iraq. This feature-length documentary follows a diverse group of individuals, ranging in age from 13 to 74, including middle and high school students, college students, teachers, clergy, community activists, and war veterans from Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf, as they take part in vigils, marches, theater performances, and civil disobedience sit-ins to protest the war. The film features music by 2005 Grammy Award-winner Steve Earle, Pete Seeger, Ani DiFranco, Billy Bragg, Jonatha Brooke, Stephan Smith, Saul Williams, DJ Spooky, Jami Sieber, Shelley Doty, Andrea Prichett, and original music composed by John Sheldon. "In a time of sadness, thinking of the dead and maimed on both sides, THE PEACE PATRIOTS gives us hope and inspiration. I hope it will be shown widely." - Howard Zinn, author of A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES. "A Filmmaker Unafraid To Go Against The Tide" - Rhonda Stewart, THE BOSTON GLOBE. 2005 Film Festivals: Boston Independent Film Festival, Plymouth Independent Film Festival, Northern Lights Documentary Film Festival, Camden International Film Festival, Vermont International Film Festival, Northampton Independent Film Festival, Global Peace Film Festival, and 7 Islands International Film Festival.

5 out of 5 stars Brings the Peace Movement Home to One Community.......2006-05-13

Something as big and amorphous as the peace movement that sprang up around the 2003 invasion of Iraq is hard to make concrete. This movie humanizes that enormous movement by narrowing the focus to a few activists in one community--the Amherst/Northampton area in Hampshire County, Massachusetts.

The activists' passion, creativity, commitment, and, yes, its patriotism come through with great clarity as the camera follows a dozen or so activists from several different clusters, not all of whom even known each other--ranging from middle schoolers to white-haired veterans of the Korean war.

It was particularly exciting for me, because I live in that community, and am acquainted with a couple of the people who were featured.

I think this movie adds significantly to the literature, and may even help some Red State Republicans understand why their neighbors go out in the street to protest, and why dissent is an essential feature of democracy.
