Description
After a terrible car accident involving his family, 12-year-old Mark is sent to live with his aunt Fiona (Seymour) on a beautiful and remote island. Isolated from most of the world, Fiona and a park ranger are the only human inhabitants of this wind-swept island, home to herd of wild horses. Her reclusive personality makes Mark's new life on the island difficult but he soon begins to see the beauty of the nature and the animals around them including the horses they are forbidden to touch. When the mother of a young colt is killed, Mark breaks the rules and begins to feed and nurture the young animal. At first Fiona is furious but as she and Mark begin to create their own family bonds, she helps him to keep the horse from starving and each learns lessons from the other about compassion, faith and family ties.

Product Description
In December of 1969, four months after Woodstock, the Rolling Stones and Jefferson Airplane gave a free concert in Northern California, east of Oakland at Altamont Speedway. About 300,000 people came, and the organizers put Hell's Angels in charge of security around the stage. Armed with pool cues and knifes, Angels spent the concert beating up spectators, killing at least one. The film intercuts performances, violence, Grace Slick and Mick Jagger's attempts to cool things down, close-ups of young listeners (dancing, drugged, or suffering Angel shock), and a look at the Stones later as they watch concert footage and reflect on what happened.

Wild Horses.......2005-03-21
The place is New Zealand, the time is the present, and the story is about what happens in a small community when the trees have been cut down and the sawmill closes. Some of the workers, the ones who can shoot, hire on with a venison packing company to hunt and pack the plentiful deer. Others just drift away. The ones with an independent bent strike out on their own. Mitch (Keith Aberdein) is one such free spirit, and he decides to earn a living by capturing and reselling the free roaming wild horses in New Zealand's Tongariro National Park.
Mitch and a couple of his mates prove to be inept, and loud, horse catchers. Essential to the plot but bad for them the ruckus they raise not catching horses spook the deer, making the venison harvest difficult. Plant owner Benson (Michael Haigh), in the best western tradition, hires a black clad professional, Tyson (Bruno Lawrence) to kill the horses so they'll quit interfering with the deer hunt. In the meantime, Mitch enlists the help of two skilled horse capturers - the wise old Sam (Tom Poata) and the pretty young Sara (Robyn Gibbes.)
I liked WILD HORSES a lot. It was nice to see a conflict western in a new and, to me at least, exotic location. The rules are a little different in New Zealand. As one character says, "Horses, deer, rabbits - they've all got to go. None of them are native." In other words, horses can be shot where they stand, with impunity, and left to rot where they fall. In fact, there are some disturbing scenes where it appears horses are actually shot and killed. The movie doesn't condone the killing, and it has dramatic impact, but anyone sensitive to graphic and realistic scenes such as those should be forewarned.
If you can abide the violence WILD HORSES is a deeply rewarding film. I especially liked the way the hired-gun Tyson developed. Early in the movie the veteran wild horse catcher Sam tells Mitch that "We leave a few of the best stallions to breed. That way there'll always be horses." The best of those is an elusive silver stallion. Tyson reaches an agreement with Mitch that the silver stallion will be the last horse shot by his men. The stallion, "something that stands up for itself out there," binds Mitch and Sara and Tyson together and propel them all into a surprising, although inevitable, conclusion.
WILD HORSES is a modest little gem of a movie. The color is a little washed-out and it contains some short scenes of graphic violence. Save for that I strongly recommend it.

Description
The popular image of the horse may be as a domestic animal living in a stall or pasture, but the horse is actually a naturally-occurring living being that survived on its own for untold ages before it was domesticated. Today, in the United States as well as other parts of the world, horses continue to survive on their own with no help from humans. This video utilizes years of experience dealing with horses plus the wild horses of Shackleford Island, North Carolina, to explore the characteristics of the horse as it was designed to be - how it eats, lives, interacts, and survives. This understanding of the horse as a natural animal is then compared with some of the most popular ways of keeping and dealing with horses, and a more natural way of keeping horses is discussed. The second section contains in depth discussion about how horses communicate, not only with each other but also with humans, and how we, sometimes without realizing it, communicate with our horses. These insights will allow the horse owner to understand the causes of many common horse problems and keep and deal with horses in an empathetic manner that is more harmonious with the horse's natural ways. This is not a demonstration video showing work with horses, and it is not a horse training video; rather, it provides essential, foundational understanding that encourages horse owners to step back, take a few minutes, and think about their horses and their interaction with their horses. Useful for those with extensive experience with horses as well as those just beginning. An essential resource for all who want to understand the horse as a whole and maximize their enjoyment of their horse.
Customer Reviews:
Not recommended.......2007-03-01
I bought this for my husband for Christmas and was very disapointed. We use many natural horsemanship methods with our herd, but this DVD was all wrong. I do not recommend this to anyone.
Natural does not mean "no care, no deworming and no hoofcare". I would not follow this DVD's advise with my animals.
From the Author.......2007-02-23
The idea for this video came from years of interacting with horse owners during my hoof care practice. I saw the same misunderstandings of horses over and over and decided to produce a source that would address these misunderstandings. I had no desire to promote myself as a personality or to claim to have some kind of breakthrough method, as there is too much of that in the horse world already.
It is presented for the good of the horse and from my love of horses. Most of all it is presented in the hope that it can help improve horses' lives, as it helps owners to see their horses as living, breathing, feeling beings, not just objects to be used. It does not describe horsekeeping in a conventional manner congruent with veterinary and pharmaceutical interventions, it certainly won't please the supplement manufacturers, and it does not follow the image aspect of horsekeeping as promoted in major horse magazines by those with an endless array of products to sell. It tries to go beyond all that and give the horse owner a glimpse of something beyond the horizons of what every one else is doing, beyond the horse world of product, image, and personality marketing.
Much of the material is just common sense--things that most horse owners already know but don't think about. I purposefully presented it in an easy to understand, conversational style, for I wanted it to be just like I was standing around and talking to someone.
It will not tell you how to get your horse to do what you want, but it might help you understand better what your horse wants...and needs.
Interesting but different.......2007-01-25
I got this as a Christmas present. Didn't know what to expect. I liked it. At least Tim Ware's not just another guy dressed up as a cowboy saying the same old things. What he said really made me think. It's stuff I knew but never really thought about in that way. Those who are stuck in their own ways won't like it, but those with open minds and wanting to learn will.
Oh, Well..........2007-01-18
From the cover of this DVD, I really expected it to be pretty good. Turns out I was wrong. No useful info at all. Just a pleasant country fellow looking into the camera and saying whatever came into his mind about horses. It seemed like the narrator followed no script, outline, or even train of thought - he just said whatever came into his mind (sometimes over and over and over and...)
Worst video EVER.......2007-01-08
I was merely disappointed by the lack of anything interesting in this video until I got half way through it when he started talking about vaccines and deworming - then I became absolutely horrified and disgusted. This man actually thinks that horses kept in boarding stable situations do not need regular deworming or vaccinations! It's obvious that he belongs to the crowd that believes horses should not be kept by humans unless they can roam on land big enough for them to get a natural diet, natural water, etc. Well, down here on planet Earth, it doesn't always work that way.
Go ahead and get this video if you want to watch some guy, standing in a field, droning on and on about how everything you do with your horse should be done the "natural" way - and if you don't, then you just don't understand horses. Oh, and by the way, if you don't vaccinate or deworm your horse and he gets sick and dies, that's just nature's way of telling you that your horse wasn't strong enough to live. You think I'm exaggerating? Get that video and see for yourself.

Description
When early Spanish explorers accidentally released wild horses (Equus cabalus) to the continent in the early 1500s, they returned an American original. Although the remnants of the escaped Spanish horse are protected by the 1971 Free-Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act, each year thousands are removed from public lands across the American West to reduce competition between horses and domestic livestock. El Caballo documents one of the most complex wildlife management issues today. Where do modern wild horses fit in our view of the natural world?
Product Description
After a car accident that claimed his parents' lives and left his sister in a coma, a young man is sent to live with his reclusive aunt (Jane Seymour) on Sable Island, a world-renown wild horse preserve.
