However, he must contend with the vicious Chi Sah gang who boast the individual talents of leader Golden Arm, plus Silver Spear, Iron Robe, and Brass Head. In order to protect the gold from their attentions, yang hires the services of swordsman Li Chin Ming and his girlfriend Miss Leng, the axe-wielding duo Yen and Feng, and drunk master Hai To. The answer comes as something of a big surprise!

old "skool' kung fu!!.......2006-05-24
As a Lo Meng fan,,this particular flick was profoundly entertaining for me! Anyone out there who really enjoys this venom character, will truly like this flick. I would have given this 5 stars, but I though even-though the story was great,,it lacked body,,,there were no thinking on the part of the audience/ viewers. It was all about escorting some gold, intransit to famine victims, and to vigorously protect it from my main man the "kid with the golden arm",,,LO MENG and his crew,,cocky as usually,,kinda like the A B C's,,,very mundane!!
another 6 venomed classic, would say 7 venomed, but johnny wang doesn't fight too much in this. .......2006-05-15
Golden arm(lo meng) is the head of a gang that is set on robbing this gold that is being escorted somewhere. His goons, silver spear(lu feng), brass head(shaw's strongman, name not listed anywhere), and iron robe(lung wei, or johnny wang)with his iron fan are wanting the gold but there is also this HUGE respect thing going on. Wei Pei plays this cool a-hole of a swordsman who just seems like he is in the movie to go around and prove himself. But then he gets shown up and dick wei comes out of nowhere and hits him with the sand palm. Then Phillip Kwok is introduced and his character was alright but his drunkiness really wasn't thoroughly explored. But I am a nitpicker cause he was AWESOME. And the fact I have like 5 guys that I am trying to decide who is my favorite character in this makes this a true kung fu classic.
So we have an escort service of course to guard this gold to get it where it needs to go. And PLENTY of traps set up by the gang. The movie is only like 77 minutes long but it manages to put action to the screen for like at least an hour. It was a true spectacle. The fights are long, varied, and gory. All the great things you have come to expect form chang cheh gets boosted up one notch in. It seems stupid, but he actually manages to put together a good movie. And the music was even a little different. Now like all Cheh films, the end fight is made up of many fights but the very last one is truly one of the best I have ever seen. LET THE LEGS FLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
It seems like it was wire enhanced but I had to watch it a few more times just to fully appreciate this. I don't want to tell you who the last fight is between, but when I mention the legs, it really only points to one guy, right? Well, this other guy was close to this guy. Sorry not to give names, but awesome movie and I can't allow myself to give anything away. And also, Chiang Shiang(little axe) has a great battle with lu feng, but I would be here all day if I broke down all the fights. THEY ARE ALL AWESOME!!!!!!
I am reviewing the red sun version, and I have to say that I am not all that happy with this. But I guess that is just casue I have been spoiled. The version seems cut by at least one scene, it is not remastered, but it is widescreened. Not fully widesscreed, but we get a much better view of the action than say a pan and scan job. But if you read my reviews you will see that I LOVE this red sun distributor. I have master killer, five deadly venoms, etc... from them and they are all remasterd, but I just realized this doesn't say remasterd, just widescreed and it costed a few dollars less than their other releases. So at least they always tell the truth and sometimes give you AWESOME extras.
All in all, this is a top 2 or 3 cheng cheh movie for me.

Don't think I ever received this. Not sure. Ordered for boyfriend. Too long ago.
The best venom flick out of the bunch........2006-08-05
After seeing 5 deadly venoms for the first time, I had to see their other movies. I went over to hastings once and they were selling venom movies on vhs for 2.99 each, so I loaded up. My favorite one was Kid With The Golden Arm. All the characters were great (most notably kuo chui as agent hai tau). This probably has the best fight scenes out of all the venom flicks. For 2.99 it was a steal. I'm afraid to buy the dvd version, because most of the dvd versions are in cantonese and the one I have is in English. I might have to transfer my version to dvd. The quality will be the same as if I was to buy it on dvd. I definately recommend this to anyone who loves old school shaw brothers.
Golden Arm/ Old School.......2005-06-23
As a teenager growing up in Chicago, There were many channels that would play the old kung fu movies. One in this case channel 9. (If you'er from Chicago, you know what I mean.) There was this movie on. I didn't know the name of the movie at the time, but there was one person that stuck out, GOLDEN ARM!! The way that he walked through his enemies, blocking they every strike with just his arms was classic. It wasn't untill later on that I finally got the name of that movie, KID WITH THE GOLDEN ARM! The Agent To was another person that stuck with me as well. "Wine is my best friend," has to be one of the best lines in the movie, next to To's "hey, I'm out of wine," or Golden Arm's promise to Brasshead that "I will avenge you. These men are all gonna die!" The movie is a must see for anyone that is into the old school of martial arts movies. This movie had a very good plot, and lots of action. The characters had names that you'd be hard pressed to forget, like of cource, Golden Arm, Iron Cloak, Brass Head, Miss. Li, Long Ax and Short Ax, Silver Spear, and the Agent Hye To. I, personally recommend this movie very highly. The quality may be lacking, but that doesn't take from the action. I haven't seen it on DVD as of yet, but I wouldn't let that fact stop me at all. In fact, I'd be more inclined to buy it all the more just to get to the fight scenes that much quicker. Reviewed by Iron Man Hondo

TOP 10 WITH HORRIBLE DVD QUALITY.......2006-06-12
this is no doubt the venoms top 5 greatest and its my 2nd favorite and a top 10 no doubt but the dvd quality is horrible. bad sound, bad picture, and editing the gore. on top of all that this a canadian bootleg and never trust a bootleg from canada. now on the movie there is no doubt that the fight scenes are magnificent and between kuo chui and lo mang steal the show and a surprise ending that makes sense after you watch it about twice. i gave this a 3 all because of bad dvd and bootlegged quality. the movie itself is beyond a 5.
Taped from TV.......2001-11-30
The video on this DVD was taped from an edited television broadcast of the movie by pointing a video camera at a television. You can see the outline of the TV in the frame. The colors are horrible. Spend (...) more for the Ground Zero Entertainment DVD of this movie- letterboxed, gore intact, and actually watchable.
