Bruce Lee's life, philosophy, and final film are examined in this reverent documentary, which traces the master's path through the development of his own style, his battles with mainstream Hollywood and martial arts traditionalists, and his emergence as the world's top box-office draw. Just as interesting as Lee's life is the chance to see lost footage from The Game of Death, Lee's final, unfinished film. Outtakes offer the opportunity to see Lee's perfectionism in action, and the reconstructed storyline reveals how Lee's personal martial arts philosophy shaped the film. And yes, there is a spectacular nunchakau fight. Interviews with Lee and those close to him highlight his energy, intelligence, and remarkable charisma. Fans of Lee will welcome this new insight into his filmmaking, and those unfamiliar with his life and work will come away with a new respect. The DVD includes a Lee filmography, the theatrical trailer for The Game of Death, and audio commentary by the director. --Ali DavisDescription
Bruce Lee was an enigmatic, legendary figure at the time of his death in 1973. His popularity has never waned and this 2001 documentary on the black belt movie star attempts to explain some of his magnetic appeal. Included in this biographical film is footage of The Game of Death, the film that Lee was involved in at the time of his death. Pieced together by Lee aficionado John Little, the film's finale is a flurry of images of the master in action for over 30 minutes.Customer Reviews:

Sinewy, sleek, and oozing charisma, Bruce Lee brought sex appeal to the martial arts genre, dominating even the most cliché-riddled adventures with his mix of good-humored geniality and focused intensity. His first film, the low-budget Hong Kong adventure Fists of Fury (as it was titled in the U.S.), is exactly that: a raw, rough-edged revenge drama of a country boy who uncovers a heroin-smuggling ring. Yet the film comes alive when Lee pounces into action, his wiry, well-muscled frame erupting in lightning moves. His follow-up, The Chinese Connection, keeps the revenge theme going for a tale of a kung fu student who avenges his teacher's death at the hands of a Japanese rival. The international success of both films enabled the increasingly ambitious Lee to write and direct his own feature, Return of the Dragon, a more-comic tale of a Chinese country boy who travels to Rome to help out cousins under the thumb of local mobsters. Though filled with excellent martial arts bouts, all choreographed by Lee, the highlight is a death match between Lee and karate champion Chuck Norris in the Roman Colosseum. Lee died before completing his last feature, Game of Death, and a rather unconvincing double runs around much of the film between footage of the real Lee, but the climax features an impressive bout with basketball star and Lee student Kareem Abdul-Jabar. Though a cut above most martial arts movies of the period, these are no masterpieces, but then who watches a Bruce Lee film for the story? In these films, plot is simply there for the scenes between Lee's amazing fight sequences. The documentary Bruce Lee: The Legend completes the collection. --Sean AxmakerCustomer Reviews:

BRUCE LE AS STAR DIRECTOR AND FIGHT DIRECTOR.......2003-11-15
Not bad, but this film is not about Bruce Lee at all.......2003-10-03
In and of itself, putting aside its misleading title and description, The Legend of Bruce Lee does have legs to stand on, albeit sometimes rather shaky ones. Bruce comes across as something of a juvenile delinquent who is constantly getting into fights (not always with good results). In an effort to improve his skills, he begins taking instruction in the art of Wing Chun kung fu, which includes some training in the art of blindfolded boxing (this comes after Bruce gets kicked around pretty convincingly by a blind man on the streets). After a time, he sort of abandons this type of fighting and begins training in the snake fist style. All of this training comes in handy because he can't walk a block without being attacked by a gang of kung fu thuds. The plot, what there is of it, is actually rather annoying, not to mention loosely tied together. The only real plot point comes when one of Bruce's friends is murdered and Bruce decides to avenge his friend's death.
There are some comical elements to this film, most of which revolve around a young man whom I would characterize as the Curly Howard of the Far East; he is little more than a buffoon whose antics become less funny as the movie progresses. The remainder of the storyline needs no description because it is only a means to an end. This film is really all about the fight scenes, and there are plenty of them. While these fights can be rather fun to watch, they definitely look choreographed (whereas the fights of the real Bruce Lee were quite realistic). One nice surprise comes in the form of Kien Shih's role in the film; Bruce Lee fans will recognize him instantly as the man who played the evil Han (the villain with the claw) in Enter the Dragon. Perhaps the most memorable aspect of this film, though, is the big snake scene. After his snake fist kung fu master tells Bruce to study the actual movements of a snake, he wastes no time assembling a trio of impressively dangerous-looking serpents upon which to practice his moves in concert with their reactions to his extremely annoying feints and pseudo-attacks against them.
Fans of the legendary Bruce Lee really have no reason to watch The Legend of Bruce Lee. Martial arts fans, though, may well get some enjoyment out of watching it for the simple reason that it features a very significant amount of fighting.

I rate it 5 stars though actually it's not perfect, compare with those thought-provoking, life-inspiring films. Quite magnificent as a TV-Movie. A beautiful castle above in the middle of a lake. Morning fog in the woods. The grand scenery of Lithuania. Make you really crave for go back to medieval age, to live through that time. And the romantic ancient Celtic music, so breathtaking, enthralling chanting. How come Johnny Harris never release a soundtrack? You can also see cute Noah Wyle, while he was a newcomer, in his early twenties. Though he's only a supporting role, shining gem of the whole film. ( I wasn't his fan, till I watch this). All in all, It's charming and irresistible, a dream worth to buy.

55 MINUTES Perhaps no man in the history of the martial arts has been as fortunate as Bob Wall. He has trained with the best Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, and Gene LaBelle. He has taught some of Hollywoods most influencial celebrities from Steve Mc Queen and Elvis Presley to many many more. He was part of Chuck Norris's famous West Coast Team Of Champions and he has become one of the most successful men ever in martial arts.On this DVD/VHS he tells you all from his lessons on life from Chuck Norris and Muhammid Ali, Elvis Presley, and Bruce Lee to his experiences with Jean Claude van Damme and Steven Seagal.
But perhaps his biggest claim to fame was his role in Enter The Dragon where he played the evil Ohara. You will see behind the scenes footage, never before seen by the public, watch Bruce and Bob practise the famous spin kick sequence plus loads more that you will just not believe.
He talks about the only five subjects Elvis was interested in. How he met Steve McQueen and how good was elvis really.
A totally fabulous DVD/VHS that you will watch over and over again just to see the rare footage of his early fights in the 1960's and from the making of Enter The Dragon.
