Customer Reviews:
Great cast, good story, but not enough good action. .......2007-03-10
Not only will you get to see David Chiang and Dorian Tan in action, but Wang Chung and Chan Wei-Man also star. My main problem with the movie is that Chan Wei-man isn't showcased well enough. The story can be a bit slow, but only a few times. Basically, all of these people are after some treasure, and since I don't want to give anything away, I will just tell you it is the story that makes this movie above average. A similar film is 'Eight Escorts' which features a much better duel between Dorian Tan and Chan Wei-Man. The action is not quite as good as 'Eight Escorts', but the story is much better. Most likely you will walk away from this knowing that it was missing something. A couple of more good quality action scenes would have helped. 3/5
The full screen presentation from World Video is a shame, but still watchable. World Video is also known for their hiccups that manually pauses the movie more than once, but overall it is an acceptable low budget release and has decent picture quality.

If you are looking at this title then you must be a fan of old chop-sockey films? If so this is a very fun and entertaining one. It isn't from the legendary Shaw Brothers, but the same era and genre. H.L. Pao was an independent director who put out a few good films,
The story: Hidden somewhere in an old house lies the treasure of a secret society. The last surviving member of the society decides that the treasure is rightfully his. But a group of soldiers also know of and want the treasure. Both parties fight to the death for the gold.
If you like this genre you should add this to your collection. However I wouldn't put this on as an introduction to Shaw Brother's era kung fu flicks for a first timer. The usually cheesy plot holes and over-all surreal nature of these films is hightened here. The dubbing isn't to bad 7 out of 10 and the picture quality is above average 8 out of 10.
