This first movie from the Discovery Channel favorite opens with a plot of international intrigue over a downed satellite, but within four minutes Steve Irwin is belly flopping after a baby croc on the outback floor. Steve and his nerves-of-steel sidekick wife, Terri, are asked to relocate a cattle-chomping crocodile before it's shot by a local rancher. This same reptile happened to swallow the intelligence-gathering device that fell to earth, and so begins the goofball premise of this lark of a movie. The feds believe the Irwins are appropriating their classified info, and the Irwins think they're running from poachers. Quibblers may object to Irwin's frequent interruptions to introduce a bird-eating spider or paw through croc dung, but Crocodile Hunter fans wouldn't have it any other way. This 89-minute film is rated PG for action violence/peril and mild language. But unless you consider "crikey" an obscenity, it's a safe bet for family viewing. (Ages 4 and older) --Kimberly Heinrichs
Customer Reviews:
Good old fashion fun........2007-06-03
As another reviewer stated, it has no special effects (other than a few fake animal closeups, and editing magic). Made the way movies used to be. The plot is unplausible and lame, the acting could be better. A movie of Irwin and his wife carelessly playing with dangerous animals. I gave it 4 stars because my wife and others liked it. I thought it was amusing and held my attention at best. As an animal advocate Irwin should realize it's a bad idea to leave a rope tied around a croc's mouth mouth with a good possiblity that it will escape and die. I am bad at over-analizing movies. Kids should enjoy it.
A TRAGIC LOSS FOR SURE!.......2007-02-05
I ORDERED THIS ONE FOR MY NIECE, AND I'M SURE SHE'S ENJOYING IT. STEVE IRWIN WAS A TRAGIC LOSS FOR SURE.
Surprisingly good!.......2007-01-12
I'm almost ashamed to admit how much I enjoyed this film. It wasn't just the result of fangirl bias - I rarely watch the Crocodile Hunter and barely knew anything about him before I saw the movie. Perhaps it seems good because my expectations were low, but I really think it also succeeds on it's own in a few ways.
Except for Irwin's message about conservation, there is nothing that could be taken seriously about Collision Course, but that is it's strength. The plot is hokey, the comedy low-brow, and there were one or two stunts in there that nearly made me laugh at how fake they looked; and as for the acting, well - honestly, Steve was one of the most engaging of the bunch, and he wasn't even trying!
But I knew I was going to like this movie in the first few minutes. A capsule containing highly sensitive, top-secret information falls from an American space satellite to a waterhole in Australia, where a croc immediately finds it and swallows it whole. When two CIA agents, in a scene that's played quite seriously, are sent to retrieve said capsule, one of them expresses relief that Australia is a "friendly country". That's very obvious code for "crazy and dangerous hijinks shall ensue once we get there". There was a self-aware silliness to all of it that made me grin. It's childish, but it sure is fun to watch.
The Irwins' encounters with real, dangerous creatures were fascinating as well, more so because very little of it seemed staged; they delivered the only genuine suspense. The downside to these Croc-hunting scenarios is how much they distract from the plot, but that may also be a good thing.
The left side of my brain wants to give this a lower rating, but ultimately I can only judge a movie by how much I enjoyed it. And I did enjoy this one!
Crickey!.......2007-01-09
I loved watching this movie. My little sister and I love watching Steve and his awesome wife Terri. I hope I can find a wife like Terri. Steve is so fun to watch and I learn alot from him. My mom even can stand next to a snake in a cage cause she watched Steve. She was the type who couldn't even watch a snake on t.v but she watches Steve like we do and my whole family loves him.I want to work with animals like Steve. I have been watching him for about 5 years. I am 13 now and my mind hasn't changed. I believe in Steve. I miss him alot. I look forward to watching his kids Bindi and Robert to foloow in their dreams they shared with their Dad. Especially Bindi. Thanks , Connor Simpson
Collision Course.......2007-01-04
A must for Steve Irwin fans. He was truly genuine and unique, and he will be missed for many years to come.

What's great about the rumpled, khaki-clad team of Steve and Terri Irwin, hosts of The Crocodile Hunter, is their complete lack of pretense. Make no mistake: Steve is a goofball, prone to outbursts ("By crikey!") that plant him squarely, cartoonishly, in his native outback, but he clears through the TV muck quickly, plopping his big-eyed persona behind him readily to deliver his points on the ABCs of wildlife. Mostly, it's the Cs that the Irwins dwell on--this feature's "How to Catch a Crocodile" and "Charlie," for instance. "How To" is a huntsman's field guide: for the big fellas, you set a mesh trap and clear out; snagging under-6-footers means leaping out of a boat after dark and wrangling the man-eaters to the riverbank. "Charlie" dips into more of the same--a humongous beast is wrestled into submission, except its focus is fixed on the namesake croc, who's been confined to a concrete pit all his life. From there, the hunter harnesses his weapons for a confrontation-free glimpse at some tamer creatures. "Aussie Legends" examines all you'd expect: kangaroos, wallabies, and koalas--plus possums, the curious Rufus Betong, and a wombat with an attitude. Then, with the indigenous inhabitants of Steve's native stomping grounds surveyed, it's Terri's turn. In "Pacific Northwest," she leads an expedition through the Oregon Trail, where a bison takes a dart to the rump and an elk gets his antlers sawed off. As you'd guess, the croc episodes are what make this title worth owning. That's not to say all four titles aren't solidly educational and fun, only that the swampier shows dish up more of what couch-bound thrill seekers will want to sink their teeth into, so to speak. --Tammy La Gorce
Description
Crocs rule! And they're ferocious little beauties, as you'll see when Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin takes you on four wild adventures down under.
Charlie - Charlie, a large aggressive crocodile, has been kept in a concrete pen all of his life. He bears the psychological scars of a crocodile that has grown up in confined conditions. Steve, Terri and their team rescue and relocate Charlie to the Australia Zoo. In his new habitat, Charlie becomes a very unpredictable "naughty" crocodile.
How to Catch a Crocodile - Danger, Danger, Danger! Steve shows some of the different trapping, netting and lassoing techniques he uses to relocate crocodiles in the wild and at Australia Zoo. Aussie Legends - Australia is known for it's vast array of unusual animals. In this adventure we take a look at some of the different species of kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, wombats and possums that can be found nowhere else in the world.
Pacific Northwest - Steve and Terri travel throughout the U.S. Northwest, Terri's home state, a region filled with extraordinary wild animals. While exploring this amazing territory, they help with bison and elk operations and interact with otters, beavers, cougars, snakes and bears.

Great DVD.......2007-01-10
This is yet another great Steve Irwin DVD. My child is a huge fan of him and just loves this DVD.
In Appreciation to Steve Irwin.......2006-09-06
After learning about Steve Irwin's death, I pulled out this collection of DVDs and just smiled a kind of bitter-sweet smile. The things he did, the stuff he pulled...in the back of my mind I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before something happened. He kept on putting himself in peril and he pulled himself out scrape after scrape... I began to think that maybe he really was invincible.
Sadly, this was not the case.
I haven't watched these DVDs in awhile. I forgot how humorous Steve Irwin really was. How childlike and excited he was to be doing what he loved to do. It is only fitting that he did die doing what he loved. There really couldn't have been any other way. It was just meant to be.
I send peace and blessings to his family and especially to his children. Your dad made the world a better place. His love for animals and wildlife will not be forgotten. He reminded the "little kid" in my heart and soul to come out and play; that it's okay to be enthusiastic...who cares if people think you're nuts...maybe if more people "went nuts" the world would be a happier place.
Steve Irwin did his share. May Spirit guide him to his next daring adventure.
Peace & Blessings.
My son Loved this guy.......2006-09-05
I've seen this video probably 5,000 times with my son. He liked to follow it with "the Snowman" video :) as a young boy (now he's a big boy of 12, okay big guy) and then go softly off to sleep. I used to be so tired from teaching I counted watching it as "doing something together", "being in nature" and "science", it was edutainment. I surely know what motivated Steve Irwin to create these shows-like Cousteau he saw the big picture of life and nature mixed up with man's work on this planet. So he took his message directly to ears that hear-the children. Over the years we kind of thought of Steve Irwin, Teri and the two kids as extensions of our family-albeit a bit more adventurous than we are and certainly more public. And never around which was great. Still Luca did tell his first grade teacher he wanted to grow up to be a "pet psychologist". All the funnier considering his fear of animals. Steve and his shows helped with that fear. And they were really fun shows to watch, if not hypnotically so, as you wondered if he was going to be okay with his encounters, I waited for today really.
Just yesterday in playing in our house "The Crocodile Hunter Game", a great fun leftover from my son's primary days, my just two year old nephew who I dearly, dearly love called me "Steve" thinking the game piece and his Aunt Sarah looked alike. That got quite the room laugh. Then today in perfect irony reaches us the tragedy of Steve Irwin's passing. My Dad once too was stung by a ray-I'd never guess this could happen and kill you-but it was a serious thing when it happened to Dad when I was three and tho rays may be gentle creatures generally -Dad was definitely hurt....I guess I knew animals could hurt you pretty young.... But this show and the others he made always carried for me that little bit of "danger Will Robinson". It mesmerizes me to watch it truthfully. I grew up on farms, in nature, but I was raised to be extremely afraid of wildlife. I recall alligators in Florida and our walking right by them down on swamp paths near places Dad and I went, and swimming in the Gulf with all kinds of things brushing and bumping you. I loved watching Steve Irwin push boundaries I never dared try. And all with that optimistic, cheerful persona. Just like when John Denver's plane went down you feel sadder than sad. I know we will take this video out and watch it tonight, my son and I, for old times sake. Then I'll have to put on The Snowman video too because I'll be so very sad....kids need our connections to nature and figures that love the wild like they love life. I'd always recommend his shows, in school they are wonderful with the 1st graders....but I'm a bit struck dumb by this sad, sad news. Kids will feel this one for sure...
This is not the way wildlife should be handled.......2005-01-25
I do not believe Steve Irwin handles wildlife appropriately. His intrusive methods are bordering on something like molestation and are also too risky. Recently he ventured too close to wildlife in Antarctica (illegally) but was not charged, probably due to his political connections. I think the Irwin show needs to be taken off the air for good.
too much entertainment, too little education.......2003-09-24
This DVD is a lot of fun. There is no doubt about that. After watching this, my four year old and his friends were practicing Steve's croc catching techniques on each other.
But Steve himself and his wife are given too much camera time. And when the camera is on them, they don't seem to be saying all that much of value. Steve just gets super excited and tells us what a "naughty crocodile" he had caught.
If your kids like seeing crocs in action, they might do better watching a documentary. At least they would see more of the crocs.

Rest in peace Steve. I'm buying this DVD for the simple reason I hope the proceeds go to Terri and the kids.
Steve and Terri at their best!.......2003-05-22
Crikey! I got this dvd for my son who wants to be "Steve's partner" when he grows up and found myself sitting there watching it too! Both parts fill in a lot of details about the other episodes...and shows a lot more of the bites, scratches and bloopers. We get to see Terri wrangling her first croc's, getting bitten by snakes and generally getting right into the middle of things. Steve gets preened, bitten and chomped on all the while showing us how animals should be loved and respected.
This dvd actually contains two full length episodes...Wild Home Movies (where a lot of the biting and running goes on), and Big Croc Diaries. This one goes into the lives of the biggest reptiles at the zoo...how they were captured and how they live at the zoo today. We get to see Steve and Terri feeding and caring for these wonderful animals. My son's only had this dvd for 24 hours but has already watched it THREE times.
Animal Planet...let's see more of these episodes available on dvd! As my son would say...Steve Rules!
