More of a real-life exploitation film than a bonafide documentary, Cocaine Cowboys is tailor-made for anyone who worships Brian De Palma's Scarface. It's no surprise that this slick, energetic film found a niche audience among crime-obsessed hip-hoppers; from a journalistic perspective it's an irresponsible mess, but director Billy Corben is obviously more interested in capturing the thrills and danger of the drug trade that transformed Miami, Florida during the Miami Vice era of the late 1970s and '80s. Corben has no particular interest in seriously examining the sociopolitical implications of Miami's drug-fueled rise and fall, so Cocaine Cowboys lives up to its title by focusing on some of the most colorful, daring, and outrageously successful survivors of that era, when tons of cocaine were distributed through Miami by the kingpins of Colombia's notorious Medellin cartel. Chief among the many interviewees are Jon Roberts and Mickey Munday (who personally transported over $2 billion worth of cocaine into Miami) and Jorge "Rivi" Ayala, a convicted drug-trade assassin now serving consecutive life terms in prison. They're lively storytellers who are egotistically eager to share their coke-tales, and Corben's only too happy to capture their exploits on film, up to and including the dubious use of violent reenactments that could easily serve as a recruitment film for Tony Montana wannabes.

It's simultaneously disgusting and compelling, especially since Corben has a knack for matching swift editing to the pulsing score by TV's original Miami Vice composer Jan Hammer. In the final analysis, it must be said that Cocaine Cowboys succeeds as a brash and breathtaking record of a bygone era, when murder rates were at an all-time high, coke was everywhere, and Miami was financially transformed into a nightlife mecca where criminals were kings. Or queens, as in the case of Griselda Blanco, the ruthless and self-appointed "Godmother" of the cocaine trade, who was responsible for countless murders and as of 2007 remained at large, her whereabouts unknown. All of this deadly life in the fast lane makes for a fascinating movie, but Corben and coproducer David Cypkin's breathless commentary makes it clear that they're young, immature thrill-seekers, and their film makes no apologies for glorifying the drug trade while exploring its bloody and frequently fatal consequences. Their commentary also accompanies an abundance of deleted scenes, and there's also a bonus featurette, "Hustlin' with the Godmother," in which Griselda Blanco's former lover and big-time coke dealer Charles Cosby tells his story, which clearly has all the makings of a Hollywood movie along the lines of Blow. You can bet that film will eventually be made, and don't be surprised if it's Corben who makes it. --Jeff Shannon

5 out of 5 stars The best drug story told...........2007-06-30

This documentary was so good, and so well told. It had me at the end of my seat in awe and shocked. One of the best drug told documentries ever...if you haven't seen it yet, please do. Miami was getting money fo' real.

5 out of 5 stars Great In All Aspects.......2007-06-27

As a Miami resident, I found the film to be intriguing and very informative. Having grown up in South Florida, the film was 100% accurate and the way it was presented kept you glued to the TV. I do hope that the great city of Miami never repeats the past.

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievable story into the dark side of paradise.......2007-06-05

This story is quite an eye opener to see placed together in one spot. I remember watching bits and pieces on the news over time when I was a kid about Pablo Eschibar and the Medien Drug Cartel, but to actually see all of the information in one place is quite impressive. This story is not only the story of the growth of the cocaine industry, but how the quite little vacation spot of Miami grew into a giant global competator of market cities. The interview detail was quite informative, and does capture the gruesomness of the violence that occured. Definately worth checking out if you like gritty documentaries.

5 out of 5 stars Great Movie!.......2007-05-22

This movie was just what I expected it to be, GREAT! I love watching movies about the cocaine era. The narrator of the movie is good and the people telling the stories are ex drug trafficers. I would definetly recommend this movie to anyone who likes true stories about drugs. My husband is Colombian and he loved this movie! LOL I wonder why! Great movie! Buy it!

Better action, a bit of sex, and gorier R-rated violence make Underworld: Evolution a reasonably satisfying sequel to 2003's surprise hit Underworld. Looking stunning as ever in her black leather battle gear, Kate Beckinsale is every goth guy's fantasy as Selene, the vampire "death dealer" who's now fighting to stop the release of the original "Lycan" werewolf, William (Brian Steele) from the prison that's held him for centuries. As we learn from the film's action-packed prologue, William and his brother Marcus (Tony Curran) began the bloodline of vampires and werewolves, and after witnessing centuries of warfare between them, their immortal father Corvinus (Derek Jacobi) now seeks Selene and the human vampire/lycan hybrid Michael (Scott Speedman) to put an end to the war perpetuated by Victor (Bill Nighy), the vampire warrior whose betrayal of Selene turns Underworld: Evolution into an epic tale of familial revenge. This ambitious attempt at Shakespearean horror is compromised by a script (by Danny McBride and returning director Len Wiseman, Beckinsale's real-life husband) that's more confusing than it needs to be, with too many characters and not enough storytelling detail to flesh them all out. Aspiring to greatness and falling well short of that goal, Underworld: Evolution succeeds instead as a full-throttle action/horror thriller, with enough swordplay, gunplay, and CGI monsters to justify the continuation of the Underworld franchise. If you're an established fan, this is a must-see movie; if not, well... at least it's better than Van Helsing! --Jeff Shannon

I love the concept of this story. Great visuals. I do think it gets a little sketchy on the details toward the end though.

1 out of 5 stars What was I thinking?.......2007-07-02

Oh, me. Instead of listening to the reviews on Amazon, I took a chance and bought this sequel to Underworld. In my defense, I had just seen the first Underworld, and I absolutely love it. I honestly thought that the sequel couldn't be as bad as the reviewers said it was. Silly rabbit. I am just at a loss to see how the writers and director of the first movie could have made this stinker. Everything that was so good about the first movie - the acting, good (simple) special effects, and an actual story - seemed absent from Underworld:Evolution. And what was with the yucky sex scenes? It just goes to show that the best movies are always low-budget. So, my advice is to save yourself a similar fate and just enjoy the first Underworld (which is still awesome).

5 out of 5 stars I enjoyed it........2007-07-01

This movie is so great just for the fact that one of the hottest chicks in the world is in it, Kate Beckinsale. nuff said

4 out of 5 stars There Could Have Been More Killing...........2007-06-27

...because in a movie like this when 15 minutes go by and a head isn't lopped off or someone isn't impaled you get antsy with bloodlust. Also any love scene where nary a booby manifests is bound to disappoint.

The entertainment, however, of face and head violence alone does enough to compensate; this dude is shot in the head from inches away; there are a score of beheadings and werewolves eating people's faces; a girl slams another girl's face into a brick wall (twice); and the orgy is not limited to gore, with an unnecessary scene with, like, a hundred broads all over each other does take place. Another positive is my girlfriend broke down in tears during the movie, but I had told her its a romantic comedy, and everyone knows 'girl tears' justify lies.

Yes, more people needed to die, but there was a great deal of blood, which is nice...

4 out of 5 stars Chapter 2.......2007-06-19

Chances are, if you're reading this, than you have seen the first installment of the series. Welcome to chapter two; Underworld: Evolution.

The name of the movie really speaks for itself when it comes to the whole essence of the story. There truly is some evolution that goes on in the film. This time around viewers are treated to more of what started the war between the vampires and Leicans. Acompanying this, a whole slew of flashbacks from the childhood memories of Selene (Beckinsale) and what she remembers having seen from her early years.

The viewer comes to learn that perhaps Selene has been amidst the "war" for longer than she has thought. Throughout this, you have Selene's own Evolution of thought, as well as truly accepting her fate, knowing full-well that this is what she was born to do.

Along withe the story evolving to the next stage, so does the romance between Selene and Michael (Speedman). Unlike most movies that tend to over-sell the sex to make the romance seem real, director Len Wiseman keeps it relatively short and classy. Just enough to show that Selene and Michael have grown enough as characters to truly trust one another and be commited to loving one another.

The action steps it up a notch in this sequel, as well as having its fare share of gruesome killings. Now, most sequels in general never seem to live up to the original, however, the Underworld franchise (in my opinion) does not fall victim to this.

All in all, this movie lives up to the original name and shows that the story between vampires and liceans has only just begun.

4 out of 5 stars It's a vampire movie.......2007-06-12

I really liked the first Underworld, so I expected a lot from this one; I wasn't disappointed. The movie picked up right from where the first one ended, and moved at a quick pace through each scene with nary slow parts. They achieved this very well because the story was expounded and progressed easily along with the action sequences. This is a vampire movie, so everything is dark, and they've filtered the colors with a blue tint, and this created an eerily beautiful effect. The character development is very thin, of course most of that was taken care of in the first film. This one was did seem very linear and predictable, relying on spectacular effects and action to carry the weight of the film. But, like I said, this doesn't really mean a lot because the first movie covered everything important. Remember in the 80s where every movie had a bunch of small battles culminating in one scene where the protagonist faced off with the "big boss"? Evolution was like an extended big boss scene, only with more revelation and a bigger boss. The ending did leave room for a sequel, but also concludes everything so if they made a sequel they would have to write a new story unrelated except featuring Kate and Scott's characters. I really enjoyed this movie. If you liked the first one, this one is a no-brainer.

5 out of 5 stars King of all Vampire and Werewolf Movies.......2007-04-11

It just doesnt get any better then this. If you like this genre of movie you cant miss this sequel. Amazing quality.

4 out of 5 stars Nice release, crisp and clean.......2007-03-23

This is a very dark movie so I was very impressed how crisp and clean this blu-ray disk turned out. So clean the wolves looked even more fake than I remember at the theater. Very impressive audio as well. Not much colors as the movie had a blueish tint throughout. Now I can only hope they will give the 1st movie the same treatment as that is the MUCH BETTER of the two.

4 out of 5 stars Stunning transfer...blah movie.......2007-02-12

I really liked the first Underworld and was looking forward to this movie (though I never got to see it in the theater); unfortunately this sequal was vastly inferior to the original. After watching the movie for a while I looked at the timer and saw that 36 minutes had passed and absolutely no plot advancement had occurred and through the whole rest of the movie it seemed that there was more time-filler action than actual plot. It's almost as if someone wrote a treatment for a movie and that Evolution was shot off of that rather than a script.

With all of that said Kate Beckinsale looks fantastic (as always) and there are some fantastic special effects/cool fight scenes in the movie that make it worth watching.

On the Blu-ray side the transfer is amazing; this ranks up with the very best video and audio I have seen/heard on the format. If only the storyline could have matched the absolutely amazing picture.

2 1/2 Stars for the actual movie and 5+ stars for the blu-ray.

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Blu-ray Title.......2007-01-29

Shows the best of Blu-ray. Very fine detail, awesome sound. Sucks to be a HD-DVD fanboy, because you don't get this title (like so many other titles). I watched it on my Sony 1080p HDTV and was blown away by the clarity the HDMI cable offers with Blu-ray. I've never been a tech geek, but am proud to say I am turing into one thanks to this new form of entertainment. Blu-ray rocks!!

Blade meets The Crow and The Matrix in Underworld, a hybrid thriller that rewrites the rulebook on werewolves and vampires. It's a "cuisinart" movie (blend a lot of familiar ideas and hope something interesting happens) in which immortal vampire "death dealers" wage an ancient war against "Lycans" (werewolves), who've got centuries of revenge--and some rather ambitious genetic experiments--on their lycanthropic agenda. Given his preoccupation with gloomy architecture (mostly filmed in Budapest, Hungary), frenetic mayhem and gothic costuming, it's no surprise that first-time director Len Wiseman gained experience in TV commercials and the art departments of Godzilla, Men in Black, and Independence Day. His work is all surface, no substance, filled with derivative, grand-scale action as conflicted vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale, who later became engaged to Wiseman) struggles to rescue an ill-fated human (Scott Speedman) from Lycan transformation. It's great looking all the way, and a guaranteed treat for horror buffs, who will eagerly dissect its many strengths and weaknesses. --Jeff Shannon

5 out of 5 stars Should become a classic!.......2007-06-13

I've always been a sucker for vampire movies, and no matter whether the story is a deep, thought provoking one; or a good solid action packer like this is, I'll see it. When I first saw trailers for this film I knew I was going to be there on opening night!

This movie (in my opinion) will become a classic. Whether it becomes a mainstream classic or just a solid cult-classic remains to be seen. The story is very well written and as someone pointed out, it revolves around WHY there is a war between vampires and werewolves and less on the creatures themselves.

The acting is just about as superb as it can get. In my opinion not led by Beckinsale, but rather by Bill Nye who plays a very convincing Viktor. Slight over-acting in spots by Speedman, but overall he plays very well off of the rest of the cast.

The directing is just as superb. It is over the top with the effects but only in the spots where it is needed. Enhancing the story, excitement, and tension all inter-twining the characters and their respective stories as to how the war began and where it will go. The ending leaves the option for a sequel (which we now see is the case) and it keeps the viewer hooked for the next chapter!

Highly recommened and will be a classic over the course of time.

5 out of 5 stars A girl can't save no situation without a boy.......2007-06-07

Apart from the comic trip look and feel of this film, apart from the special effects both on the side of the vampires and on the side of the werewolves, apart from the impossible love affair between a vampire girl and a werewolf boy, at the beginning qt least, soon to become something else, this film is decadent in all possible ways and somewhere kind of paranoid. And yet there is something that floats over the whole thing, that survives the animal horror that animates these pictures and bleak places. Two species have been fighting for centuries and the salvation of both is in a new blood line that will cross the two different ones. Peace can only come from crossing the bloodlines of the two rivals, the two enemies, the two antagons. And that works, in the film of course, because in reality if it were that simple...! It has been noticed that when a civil war starts we never know when it will stop. It took some thirty years for the latest episode of the Irish civil war to come to maybe an end and that was only the last episode of a war that was started by the invasion and conquest of Ireland by the English three or four centuries ago. And I will not speak of the Bosnian or Kosovar conflicts, nor of the opposition between Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq and in the world. But that's the optimistic final scene of a film that targets teenagers when war comes to an end because the two bloodlines have been mixed in the veins of a new leader. Yet I found the film a little bit long and repetitive as for the fighting scenes.

3 out of 5 stars After about twenty minutes, It begins to warm up and become enjoyable.......2007-04-14

The beginning can be pathetic. It's unclear how many movies I recognized while 'observing' and loosely watching. Matrix rings a bell. I mean that in a derogatory way. I'll stop there. I do belong, on occassion, to cultous fangorious, goth groups.....when the moon is full and friday collides mysteriously with the 13th...which was drunkily yesterday. Did I mention how I stayed up all night with friends and watched this film for the first time? We borrowed it from the library for free. Awesomeness, free. What lulled me from my drunken sleepiness, was the occassional moody fits of Victor, who seemed the savior of this film. I loved when he cracked that scientist' skull because......well he was mad. And he didn't want that guy to squeeze out another wise'allicky comment. I mean, I've never seen some dude just wind up and smack someone with one death blow and successfully kill a person like that. He's the man. So I liked it for that, and I liked that it was sorta short and way gothy. There you go.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent film.......2007-03-17

Together with Underworld: Evolution, two great films. Action-packed, fast paced, great photograhpy and special effects; good plot too. A must see for action/vampire film lovers. This the first film to see. Then see Underworld: Evolution, to keep the story straight. Buy it!

Move over, Vin Diesel, because The Transporter, Hong Kong action veteran Corey Yuen's English-language directorial debut, is revving up to steal your thunder. As the other top-billed action star to emerge in 2002, British hunk Jason Statham--previously seen in Snatch, Ghosts of Mars, and The One--plays a hard-driving courier for well-heeled underworld clients. He follows simple rules: (1) Stick to the deal; (2) Don't ask names; and (3) Don't look in the packages he transports. All's well until he violates rule 3, discovering a Chinese beauty (Qi Shu) in the trunk of his tricked-out BMW, and foiling a deadly plot to smuggle Chinese slaves through the port of Marseilles. The first hour is ass-kickin' fun, and the stuntwork is impressive throughout, even as the plot degenerates into a predictable series of bone-breaking showdowns. Statham boasts an appealing combination of brains and brawn, suggesting the suave versatility of a promising career. Coproduced by action auteur Luc Besson and filmed on dazzling French locations, The Transporter is an action fan's delight. --Jeff Shannon

Description

4 out of 5 stars don't break the rules.......2007-06-20

The Transporter is Jason Statham's first big solo role in a movie, and it is a success with the followups of Transporter 2, Crank, and the anticipated upcoming film "War", where he fights one on one against Jet Li. Jason has participated in several films before Transporter in somewhat lesser roles such as "The One" and "The Italian Job", but the Transporter finally lets this man shine - and he brings a character to the screen - Frank Martin - who is intelligent, skillful, strong and one downright cool guy.

The movie has a good and promising beginning, showing off the cool factor of Frank Martin immediately. Followed quickly by an intense car chase scene, the movie never lets up after that - whether it be action or suspense. The story is not too interesting, but it is put together well. Frank discovers that a package he is transporting is carrying a live body inside. Frank's "tough-guy attitude" is worn down and he breaks his own rule by opening the package. The receiver of the package is no dummy, and realizes that Frank broke the rules and has his car destroyed. Frank, fortunately absent from his car during the explosion, seeks revenge but ends up with company along the way by accident - the girl inside the package. From here the story begins to take off as Frank becomes entangled in the situation all the more.

While there isn't a tremendouns amount of action, the spacing of action works well enough. The final 20 minutes are huge, easily containing the best scenes in the movie. I especially liked the fights in the bus garage and the final highway truck scene which reminded me very much of the truck scene from "Raider of the Lost Ark".

Transporter is a great movie for Jason Statham. I really enjoy this guy, and see a good future for him. His martial art skills are truly entertaining, as is his stunts and acting. This is an hour and half of just great relax entertainment.

4 out of 5 stars The Transporter in Blu-ray: Action, Suspense, Romance and Fast Cars!.......2007-05-29

I loved this movie! The story was new and creative! If you like action movies and actor Jason Statham, you'll love this movie. Filmed in the French Riviera!

Video-Blu-ray: This movie enjoys a good transfer-not perfect- but good! You still see some video noise and image grain. Overall, Just slightly better than the SD in term of details with extra grain.

Audio: simply impressive!

Bottom line: You can't go wrong with this one! Action, suspense, romance and fast car chases. If the image grain bothers you, try the SD version-it's not as grainy.

2 out of 5 stars The Transporter.......2007-05-09

Totally wonderful film. Tons of action , but none of is unbelievable (this is NOT Spiderman, thank God). I am personally very attached to the location, in and around Nice, which I visit often. Statham is very cool and low key; Shu Qi is totally delicious. Her English is to die for. The French Commissaire is just wonderful. The driving action (this from a pretty crazy driver) is very satisfying. Luc Besson for ever!! As good as the best of James Bond...

1 out of 5 stars Could be the dumbest movie ever..........2007-04-17

This could be the dumbest movie ever made (and that's a bold statement to make when one considers that "Underworld" also exists). Sadly, unlike "Underworld" there is no leather clad Kate Beckinsale to drool over. Instead, we are treated to a movie that could easily be confused for a map of the human DNA (but a human with an extra chromosome).

Jason Statham, so likable in "Snatch", "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "The Italian Job" is thoroughly wasted in this flick. When he's not busy escaping from his tricked out house, driving fast whilst looking cool and beating up on clichéd Euro trash delivers lines such as "Rule #1. Never change the deal" and is expected to act with a straight face when he's the recipient of this type of drivel - "You're always complaining, except when we make love. Then you say nothing.". Thankfully, the one thing Stetham is great at is keeping a straight face. But you won't. Not if you have a brain, that is.

5 out of 5 stars All action with a story included.......2007-04-17

I went into watching this movie with no knowledge of what it was about. I ended up in the end of it loving it. This movie is an "all action" flick with a story included. Actually it isn't just one story, it is a couple of them. The stunts in this movie and the special effects is outstanding. If you like action flicks, you will love this one. I recommend this movie to anyone that loves action flicks and is a Jason Stantham fan as well. BTW, he does have his shirt off in a couple of scenes in this one.

Whether you view it as an alternate reality or the illusions of demented mind, Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere is an intriguing place to visit. The Sandman creator's first TV miniseries suffers from the same traditional shortcomings that plague all British "telefantasy"--namely, micro-budget production values and slapdash direction that betrays a conspicuous shortage of rehearsal time. And yet, within those limitations, Gaiman and director Dewi Humphreys have crafted an ambitious exploration of "London Below," a vast, subterranean capital, far below "London Above," where office drone Richard Mayhew (Gary Bakewell) unwittingly finds himself after rescuing Door (Laura Fraser), an underworld dweller determined to learn why her parents have been killed. Gaiman teases the viewer with hints that Richard may be insane, but Neverwhere maintains its imaginative ambiguity, and presents a dark, dangerous domain of baronies and fiefdoms, bearing familiar British nomenclature but decidedly unfamiliar landmarks. Once you've visited, you might prefer to stay. --Jeff Shannon

    4 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised.......2007-06-08

I have to admit to being disappointed by the production quality when I started watching. But then I got sucked in by Gaiman's storytelling and just went with it. The Marquis is fabulous and Mayhew is the whiny character I remember from the book.

It's also interesting to see the original form for the story since the book came after.

Like a lot of those who reviewed Neverwhere before me, I am a huge, although recent, Gaiman fan. The man can seemly write anything. But even if this were my first exposure, I think I still would have enjoyed it.

5 out of 5 stars Fun and fantastic.......2007-05-14

Love Gaiman's work and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the "original" version of Neverwhere. Read the book too!

3 out of 5 stars Not the Best Visual Quality, But Neil Gaiman's Imagination Saves It.......2007-04-07

I'm a Gaiman fan. Truth is, it's always a better bet to read his stuff than watch the dramatizations. If you wanted to watch something from Neil's head, MIRRORMASK, with some outstanding visuals and some very cool music, is a better bet. However, the plotting here is easier to follow, and Richard is more sympathetic and likable than the gal-lead-character in MIRRORMASK.

Basically, this is the story of a man whose Good Samaritan act gets him in big, big, big trouble--life and death kind of trouble. The story takes place in two Londons--London above, which is normal London, and London Below, which is where things magical and mystical and dark and scary take place. It's ever so much less safe than London Above, even with all the perils of Big City living.

This is a quest story. You know how that goes, someone wants something desperately, others come with skills and gifts band together to journey to the ultimate place of questing, each wanting something desperately; and then we follow them as they undergo ordeals, evade villains, battle monsters. And we hope they obtain their desires. Or at least, hope the good ones do. Like any quest story, some secrets are withheld, some allies are surprising, and the bad guys are very bad indeed. And someone always has to die, right? But who?

The novel is creepy and funny, in the way that Gaiman manages to be creepy-funny. And you get a sense of Wizard of Oz gone very wrong.

The DVD, which is video-quality, with some exceedingly dorky effects, is not gonna win any awards. Some of you may hate it. But if you concentrate on the likability and charisma of some of the actors (likable: Bakewell/charismatic: the guy who plays Carabas/lovely if disheveled: Laura Fraser), and how much you'll want the bad guys to get their comeuppances, you can enjoy this series. You just have to cut some slack for production quality and effects and sound. Just surrender to the cheesiness.

However, if you want the full effect of scary-suspenseful-magical-sarcastic-amusing-fast-paced fun, buy the novel. It's a nifty urban fantasy from a master of modern fantasy.

    4 out of 5 stars You don't wanna know...........2007-03-03

Are you sure you want to know about London Below? I'm not sure you want to know that. Because if you know about London Below, then you are invisible to the people of London Above, who will ignore you and forget about you the instant they turn away from you. I won't tell you that Mr. Coup and Mr. Vanadarmarr are looking for someone named Door. I shouldn't be telling you that Richard Myhew helped someone he shouldn't have even noticed..much less, help. And I really shouldn't tell you about Hunter and the Marqie De Carabras that went along with Door and Richard to solve who killed Door's parents.

Oh, dear. I think I said too much....oh well then...descend into London Below and I hope you don't run into any velvets.

4 out of 5 stars BBC does it again.......2006-03-03

My friends and I have been Gaiman fans for quite some time. When we heard that Neverwhere was on DVD and produced by BBC, we wanted it instantly. Neverwhere was the first book of his that I read and I fell in love with it instantly, so I had high expectations when I finally got the DVD. I knew that with the book so wonderful, it had a lot to live up to.

My first impression upon seeing the very first scene was to burst out in hysterical laughter. With the hand-held lights and the dramatic, "Ooh! Drama! So dark! So spooky! Look! I suddenly appear and disappear! I'm out to kill you!" feel to it, who couldn't laugh? As it continued, my friends and I came to the conclusion that you had to be on some sort of drug or medication to watch it, it was that trippy. There are many times throughout the episodes where the situation stuck us as hilarious even when it really shouldn't have.

However, I will say this for it. It's an excellent source for entertainment. The Marquis de Carabas is absolutely brilliant and on the mark, a perfect casting; Richard Mayhew can't stop complaining, true to character; and the Angel Islington will have you nearly screaming. Watch out for that age-old song, "Heaven, I'm In Heaven," it'll haunt even your nightmares and send them screaming. It definitely has that Neverwhere feel to it, and though at times it can be corny and you can definitely tell what era it was made in, I was greatly satisfied with it and would gladly watch it again.

It also wouldn't hurt to watch the Gaiman interview in the Special Features. It gives insights into the book and episodes that you wouldn't have known before unless you did your homework. And it is equally entertaining, guarenteed.

    Description

Underneath the city streets, amid the labyrinth of subway tunnels and gothic ruins, the two most notorious creatures of the night are embroiled in an all-out war that has been going on for centuries. It is the culmination of a blood-thirsty battle between the vampires and their mortal enemies, the werewolves. Stars: Kate Beckinsale (Pearl Harbor, My Life Without Me), Scott Speedman (My Life Without Me, TV's "Felicity").
