Quentin Tarantino came out of nowhere (i.e., a video store in Manhattan Beach, California) and turned Hollywood on its ear in 1992 with his explosive first feature, Reservoir Dogs. Like Tarantino's mainstream breakthrough Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs has an unconventional structure, cleverly shuffling back and forth in time to reveal details about the characters, experienced criminals who know next to nothing about each other. Joe (Lawrence Tierney) has assembled them to pull off a simple heist, and has gruffly assigned them color-coded aliases (Mr. Orange, Mr. Pink, Mr. White) to conceal their identities from being known even to each other. But something has gone wrong, and the plan has blown up in their faces. One by one, the surviving robbers find their way back to their prearranged warehouse hideout. There, they try to piece together the chronology of this bloody fiasco--and to identify the traitor among them who tipped off the police. Pressure mounts, blood flows, accusations and bullets fly. In the combustible atmosphere these men are forced to confront life-and-death questions of trust, loyalty, professionalism, deception, and betrayal. As many critics have observed, it is a movie about "honor among thieves" (just as Pulp Fiction is about redemption, and Jackie Brown is about survival). Along with everything else, the movie provides a showcase for a terrific ensemble of actors: Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi, Michael Madsen, Christopher Penn, and Tarantino himself, offering a fervent dissection of Madonna's "Like a Virgin" over breakfast. Reservoir Dogs is violent (though the violence is implied rather than explicit), clever, gabby, harrowing, funny, suspenseful, and even--in the end--unexpectedly moving. (Don't forget that "Super Sounds of the Seventies" soundtrack, either.) Reservoir Dogs deserves just as much acclaim and attention as its follow-up, Pulp Fiction, would receive two years later. --Jim Emerson

Reservoir Dogs DVD 15th anniversary edition.......2007-06-08
I am very upset because I did not receive the sepecial package that I choose.
EXCELLENT DVD!.......2007-05-30
This DVD is the SPECIAL EDITION of the movie "Reservoir Dogs" that was released 15 years ago, it contains a huge amount of bonus material including various interviews with Quentin Tarantino and several other people that worked on this movie. It also comes in a special metal case that's in the shape of a gasoline tank, VERY COOL!
Reservoir dogs.......2007-05-16
Its kinda boring show. The only interesting part of the movie is constant arguing.... which the whole movie is only showing them quarreling in a warehouse. The whole movie is in the warehouse and nothing more. So its kinda boring i guess.
An intro to Pulp Fiction.......2007-05-14
This film shares many elements with Pulp Fiction. While not necessarily required to understand Pulp Fiction, it does enhance your understanding of Quentin Tarantino's style. This film may have been overshadowed by Pulp Fiction, but it still is a classic in its own right.
A timeless Jewel heist gone wrong.......2007-05-07
Quentin Tarrintino is an amazing talent when it comes to making movies, and ALL of his movies are great
but this (His first) is my favorite. His style is so hip and unique, and the characters always unforgettable!
Reservoir Dogs is basically the story of a jewel heist gone wrong.
The movie opens in a coffee shop with the gangsters eating breakfast right before the heist takes place.
The funny part about it is the discussion taking place at the table, about Madonna's song "Like a virgin".
We have the boss, his son (Nice guy Eddie)and the color-coded named criminals (the boss gave them the names because they don't know each each other, and boss wants to keep it that way)
We have Mr. Brown, Mr. Blue, Mr. White, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Orange and Mr. Pink (my fave)
What is interesting about this is, that after they leave the restaurant, we immediately flash to a car with Mr. White driving and Orange in the back - shot - blood all over the place!
They go to a warehouse and all meet up there, and as they begin to trickle in, one by one, it is realized that someone set them up-one of them!
But which one? Which one is the cop ???
They re forced to stay in the warehouse and wait it out, and 'honor among thieves' is put to the test.Tempers flare and blood is shed. But who ratted? And how will they get out alive?
One thing that makes this so unique is that it sort of plays backwards, and Tarrintino was pretty much the first to use this style of storytelling.
Another thing, the soundtrack is awesome! You will never forget what happens as "Stuck in the middle with you" plays. :(
There are a lot of awesome oldies which plays on the movie's 'radio station' "K-Billy Super sounds of the seventies".
There are many editions of this movie out, but the 15th anniversary edition is really PACKED with extras, and the packaging is cool too.
The 2 disc set comes in a slim metal "gas can" and the top pops off. Inside is a huge book of matches that hold the DVD's, the matches are from "Uncle Bob's Pancakes"... It really is a cool edition to own, even if you own the 10th anniversary, or other editions.
Highly reccomended entertainment!

Amazon.com essential video
