Product Description
A visit to Denali National Park is a unique experience. No other place in the universe allows the ease of access for so many, yet remains a wilderness, virtually unchanged by humans. Here animals roam free and eagles soar above vast panoramas which defy description.
With scenes from over ten years of filming, this production follows Denali through the seasons. Filmed as most of us get to see Denali - along the single road through the park and back country hikes - these are your Denali Memories or Dreams of a future visit.
The "Denali Big Five," the Grizzly Bear, Moose, Dall Sheep, Caribou and Wolf are the stars. Collard Pika, Arctic Ground Squirrels, Hoary Marmot, Beaver, and Red Fox, are a great supporting cast. Golden Eagles, Trumpeter Swans and Willow Ptarmigan are just a few of the many birds to grace the skies and ponds. From Spring Flowers to Fall Colors, to Winter's First Snow, it is all here.
All natural family entertainment, educational and packed with information.

A Special Place Denali Natl Park.......2007-02-10
Not worth the money I paid for it. The quality of production is low and the narrator sounds like he is tired or not interested in talking about Denali. Most of the footage is handheld and you can tell by how unsteady the picture is. I am very disappointed with this purchase
AMAZING WILDLIFE SCENES.......2005-07-28
This DVD contains some of the most amazing Grizzly Bear scenes I have ever viewed. In addition, there are Moose, Dall Sheep, Caribou, Wolves, a lot of smaller animals, birds and waterfowl to complete the package. The details about the animals, their habitat, how they forage and manage to survive in the wild was educational and interesting. I loved the closeup scenes of the little Pika and the Hoary Marmot. What a thrill to see the rare scenes of a little Golden Eagle Eaglet! I was pleased with the extra time spent to view Grizzly females and their cubs. The family unity of these magnificent Bears as they foraged, nursed or played was amazing. The care the mother shows was quite endearing. This DVD is mostly about Wildlife, but also contains some spectacular scenery. It was rewarding to learn about a part of Alaska that I have not had the privilege to visit. It was interesting to find out why locals and many visitors call North America's tallest mountain Denali instead of Mt. McKinley. The narration is not a famous voice but is obviously done by a person with a vast knowledge and a deep love of the wildlife and Denali National Park. The Scene Selection Menu with a special map, allows you to easily view favorite scenes over and over. The additional bonus material is a definite plus. This presentation was informative, pleasant and very enjoyable. I would and will recommend this film to anyone who enjoys North America's wildlife and the wilderness in which they live. This is indeed a special film about "A Special Place."
Dissappointed.......2005-07-21
I, myself, am a video producer and was quite dissappointed in this DVD. The visual presentation was alright, but the audio and narration was diplorable! The narrator was boring and the audio mix was way off. You could barely hear the narration under the music. Even the choice of music was uninteresting. All in all, very disappointing for the money.

Cry vs. Cry.......2006-07-11
This movie is NOT the movie of the same title based on Gary Paulsen's book, "Hatchet". Despite the identical titles, this movie is based on a very real abduction and manhunt in 1963, in central Pennsylvania. Both were released on TV in 1990, but this movie had the subtitle "The Taking of Peggy Ann." It is a very accurate account of the kidnapping of teenager Peggy Ann Bradnick, and the ensuing search that cost the life of FBI agent Terry Anderson (played by David Soul) before the kidnapper, William Hollenbaugh, was killed by the police.
The "Hatchet" "Cry" is available in DVD from Amazon. The "Peggy Ann" "Cry" is only out in VHS.
This movie is NOT appropriate for 5th grade students.......2006-05-07
I rented the movie to show to my students after we read the novel. It cut out most of the good stuff from the book, had cussing in it, and was awful. Needless to say, I didn't let the kids watch it. We just got into groups, chose our favorite scenes and worked up minidramas to act out. Don't buy this movie.
Hatchet the movie? Or the book.......2006-04-05
I havent seen the actuall movie, however, I think its best to rent the movie and also read the book first, I have read the book and it is very good so I sugest to rent the movie and when I do see the movie I will post how it doffers and wich is better. Also the book is rich in detail and jugging by the book I bet the movie will be very good
This movie has no style!.......2006-03-22
Well, the book was definitely a lot better.... I did not like how there was so much swearing in the whole thing!! There are so many other elementary and middle school teachers showing this movie to kids... I do not think it is an appropriate movie for kids like me. We should not have to listen to swearing like that in school!!!
Another kid's reveiw.......2005-12-06
My two other partners and I agree, that the movie "Cry in the Wild" was not the movie of the year. Hatchet the book was a million times better than the movie that seemed as if it came out of a dumpster. There weren't as many details as there were in the book. For instance they didn't include the moose attack, which was one of our favorite parts in the novel. Another thing that took the zest out of it was there were way to many differences. If you hate movies that don't have the main characters close to the ones described in the books forget it. And the movie seemed pretty quiet because they didn't express his thoughts. If you still want to see this movie, completely denying our review go ahead, but rent it. Don't waste this much money on it. We give it 1 star. And that's being generous!
