Editorial Review:
Description
This is the second in the series by the legendary Master Sken who teaches his art of Muay Thai.
In this video/DVD he teaches the eight weapons of hands, elbows, knees, and feet.
He first teaches the attacks and then he teaches the defensive techniques that go with them. The highly detailed demonstrations are clear and concise and the professional presentation in both slow and regular speeds make this tape/DVD an absolute must for those who study Thailands national sport and art.
Master Sken is the one man who is able to present this art in the light in which it should be. He is a firm beliver that Muay Thai is more then just an art of fighting but rather it has as its ultimate goal one of character development.

Customer Reviews:
Poor Quality.......2007-03-14
The contant of these DVDs is GREAT!!!!!!!!! However, all of these DVDs freeze on all my players and even my computer. I contacted the company and they did offer to replace them. However, I can not be bothered to rap them up, pay to ship them, and wait to see if the new ones do not freeze. I have heard from other people that they too have had bad experiences with DVD products from this company. That is too bad as it just makes folks not want to place any future orders for their items.
Good Series For Muay Thai Starters.......2007-01-10
This is a great DVD set for begenning Muay Thai. The first DVD walks you through the basics of punches, including jab drills, jab cross drills, Hook drills, punching drills with weights (so when you take the weight off your super fast and powerful).
The second DVD moves on to to upercut drills, kicking and elbow drills. Note that these drills are VERY well laid out showing proper footwork, proper punching/kicking techniques, proper punch/kick technique.
DVD 3,4 are advanced drills with bags and partners great for the next level after core training. Anyone interested in my original copy can let me now at [...] as I have recorded the series on my tivo.

Master Saekson 4 DVD Set - Bargain!!!!!.......2006-02-21
If you want to learn Muay Thai I highly recommend you to buy at least DVD 1 & 2 from this collection.
Excellent sound & picture quality . Very easy to understand Master Saekson and also good side angle shots to clarify points. DVD 1 & 2 are excellent for the beginner and you could easily "work in" with them to get you started and get your routine up and running.
DVD 3 & 4 give general training/conditioning tips and would probably suit someone who is going to put alot of time in and become a serious fighter or once you have been training for sometime and want to explore the system and conditioning aspects further (However, very useful if you have not trained before and have no idea how to work bag/pads or put combinations together or just have a lack of imagination).
However, still a bargain for all 4 and the delivery was about 2 weeks before target.
I have been training in martial arts for 15 years (Karate, Dim-Mak and boxing) and recently became interested in Muay Thai (this is down to the fact that it is a proven fighting system, see NHB and UFC for good examples of real world aplication and you can now get good instruction/information). I have a couple of the 4 and 5 star rated books from Amazon and various other sites on the subject and as I have a good understanding of various MMA's train at home - whilst the books are very good, being able to see the full range of movements in the DVD's goes way beyond what the books can do. DVD's 1 & 2 are excellent for this - all the basic's are made very clear along with the slightly different techniques used in Muay Thai - explaining how the skinny guys get so much power into their punches and kicks!!!(lol).
I highly recommend these DVD's and The Underground Guide to Warrior Fitness by Ross Enamait (for Strength and Conditioning tutorial) and a good back up wrestling or Brazilian Jiu-JitSu DVD i.e Gracie Brothers release. You would then have a "real world " fighting system and full knowledge on how to train/strengthen your body without buying expensive gadgets/weights or cardio equipment etc.

Customer Reviews:
Great punches and footwork start here.......2006-08-14
This DVD presents the basics of Muay Thai punching and footwork. This is a great supplement to my training library. I learned a lot from this DVD. You will need Muay Thai #2 to learn how to kick and use your knees.
Very elementry and low production value.......2006-08-01
This DVD contains very basic of Muay Thai punches and elbows. If you have to be learning this level of fighting on a DVD you probably shouldn't be doing this art. I fast forewarded most of it.
Skilled Boxer and Gifted Instructor.......2004-11-27
I have never seen a tape so well presented. Each of the basic techniques were shown going forward and backwards to and from the camera and from left to right and back again. Thus, you can see each technique from the front and from the side.
Mr. Janjira put a lot of effort into these lessons so even an old "tard" like me can learn and absorb the techniques. He shows the basic stance and hand/arm positions and shows how to maintain them as you move around the ring. He then demonstrates the jab, cross, uppercut and elbow techniques thrown in three variations (angles)- uppercut, horizontal and diagonally downwards. He continually adds valuable tips during each presentation which greatly adds to understanding the movement.
There is only one negative factor - loud sounds caused interference in the video. They must have used a cheap microphone or had the gain too high and drove their amp into saturation. The rest of the tape was so good that I soon learned to ignore the interference.
A word to younger readers. Fights are won with basics - not with flashy techniques. Showboating only works in the movies. In the streets "flash" will get you beaten.
Muhammed Ali only had four techniques: a left jab, a left hook, a right cross and an uppercut. What made him better than the rest is that he did them to perfection with proper timing.
Another fighter, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace mentions on his tape series that he only used four techniques in winning all his fights. He had two hand and two leg techniques: a left jab, a left hook, a left side kick and a left roundhouse kick. But, he performed them to perfection.
So, young readers, what is it going to be? Master a few techniques and win fights or learn dozens of flashy or "secret" techniques and get your a** handed to you in a "real" fight. But, you will look "good" as everyone is laughing at you when you get planted on your [...].
muay thai # 1 basic techniques.......2004-05-01
This dvd is the first in a series of 4 and contains all the basics of muay thai, from footwork to punching and elbow techniques. It is well presented and demonstrates the techniques clearly. This dvd acts well as a starting point and is excellent for beginners. More advanced students of muay thai will know most of these techniques, however it is still worth buying for the excellent presentation of techniques with the focus on correct footwork.
a poor buy.......2004-02-06
This DVD only contains the most basic punches and elbow techniques. It's being falsely advertised with "discover the secrets of Muay Thai Kickboxing that have never been released to the rest of the world." while this DVD contains basically what you would learn on your first muay thai lesson, no secrets and no advanced moves or techniques.

Great Instructional video.......2005-08-14
This video is awesome great views from every angle. Video was better than i expected and is great for beginners. I was very satisfied with the condition that i recieved the disk in from the sender. (no scratches whatsoever). I would recomend this disk to anyone interested in Muay Thai.
Skilled Boxer and a Gifted Teacher.......2004-11-27
See my comments for tape 1 in the series. The same positive and negative statements apply here except the techniques are different.
This tape/DVD covers kicks: roundhouse and front. A point brought out was that in Muay Thai there are no "snap" kicks from the front leg as in karate. All kicks are power kicks delivered from the rear leg.
Also covered were knee techniques, sweeping techniques and blocking of punches.

Description
The Ancient Bare Knuckle Muay Thai Physical Structure DVD focuses on the myriad of tactics and fighting strategies of the various regional bare knuckle systems that existed in Thailand when bare knuckle fighting flourished throughout the kingdom. The original tactics were then synthesized and streamlined into what we know of as the popular sport of ring Muay Thai. In this second volume devoted to physical structure, the viewer is introduced to the extensive arsenal of the bare knuckle toolbox that are then developed through a series of unique physical foundation skill development exercises that enhance and functionalize them. Beginning with the warm up sequence into the extensive kicks, punches, knees and elbows, the teaching sequence accelerates into footwork, line drills, using the triangle, varied offensive and defensive strategies on the inside and outside lines, the art of opening, sinking, moving the mind to open the target as well as a deeper understanding of the Khorat style tiger walk and the Chaiya style lion walk and the ability to translate basic weapons tactics to empty hand strategy. Each volume in this series stands on its own though they are designed specifically to work in tandem as a clear progressive teaching guide that will benefit both beginner and advanced martial arts practitioners. Colonel Amnat Pooksrisuk has devoted his entire life to the preservation and propagation of the complete spectrum of Thai Martial Arts as well as the strategies and principles that govern them. A graduate of US War College and a career military man, he has tirelessly trained and documented many of the ancient and modern training methods under the last remaining Grandmasters throughout Thailand. A key figure in the World Muay Thai Council, he continously works to promote Muay Thai throughout the world. Ajarn Pooksrisuk is one of the few remaining masters who possesses the knowledge of how the Pichai Songkram or Thai Manual of Warfare provides the keys to understanding the underlying principles that govern all the Thai Martial Arts. Running time: 120 minutes
Customer Reviews:
A quality DVD.......2006-12-15
This DVD runs for around 120 mins & is based on a edited seminar given by Col. Amnat Pooksrisook. I have reviewed the 1st volume elsewhere on this site. In that volume, Col. Amnat breaks down the principles & foundations of his style of bare knuckle muay. In this volume there is a lot more application. The DVD begins with a lengthy warm up which are then used in effective (& often nasty) applications. As with the previous DVD, Col. Amnat emphasises caution with some of the techniques.
Similar to the 1st DVD this is very watchable. This DVD does not require other DVDs but the 1st volume does go into greater detail on the use of the triangle (for example). Again footwork is drilled repeatedly with & without a partner.
Overall I enjoyed this DVD, it has little filler. Both DVDs have illuminated my training notes from when I have trained in Thailand (at ring thai bxg) & filled in some gaps in my knowledge.

Customer Reviews:
A quality DVD.......2006-12-13
This DVD is the 1st volume on Colonel Amnat Pooksrisuk's bareknuckle muay. This is an older version of the modern ring thai boxing/ muay thai.
The DVD runs for around 80 mins & is based on an edited seminar given by Col Amnat. I felt there was very little, if any, filler on this DVD.
The DVD goes through the principles and foundations of muay. Practical examples are given for each of these and these applications are built on in the 2nd volume.
Col. Amnat demonstrates many drills & footwork drills throughout. Some of these have greatly clarified my notes from my own training in Thailand regarding exterior/ interior line.
I really enjoy watching this DVD & a short viewing always end up in watching it to the end. On the basis of this DVD I bought the 2nd volume (reviewed later).

You just won't believe all the creative and cool techniques for training for all martial arts on this one tape he is a magician.
This tape has more on blocking plus tons of drills that can be used in any martial art.
You will learn the right way to use traditional pads as well as innovative and new pad drills that he has created himself.
He also shows how and why to use paper for kicking and punching.
This tape is an absolute must for trainers and fighters as well as those who want to learn how they really train in Bangkok in those Muay Thai camps we have all heard about.
Saekson Janijira is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet outside of the ring but inside the ring its a totally different story. Over 200 fights and he lost only 4 this tape shows you why he has become a legend in Bangkok and in America.
He is quite simply 100% A Master of Muay Thai.
Customer Reviews:
Skilled Boxer and a Gifted Teacher.......2004-11-27
Please see my review of tape 1 in this series. The positive and negative comments apply to all the tapes/DVD's in this series. Only the techniques differ from tape to tape.
Basically, I agree with reviewer O.S. Baluch from London. This particular lesson covers blocking against kicks and elbows and countering techniques. Using the training pads is also addressed.
I can't say enough about how well thought-out these lessons are and how well presented they are. Mr. Janjira is truly a gifted person.
regular advice but horrible quality production.......2004-09-09
The advice in this DVD is the same advice you'd get in many DVDs on Muay Thai, however, the quality of the production is extremely low. The sound is awful. Look elsewhere unless you don't mind spending $30 for low-quality production values and generic advice.
Muay Thai #3 Drills.......2004-05-01
Brilliant blocking drills for kicks, knees and elbows make this dvd well worth buying for anyone training in Muay Thai. Good demonstration of basic pad drills. No advanced pad drills or combinations, however the tips from Saekson Janjira are excellent.

True Muay Thai.......2005-04-24
This movie gives an excellent overview of all aspects of Muay Thai, right from the source - Thailand. The cultural and country coverage was fascinating. There is a good mix on the background and rules of the art, along with some awesome "live" fight footage. The training camp shown in the DVD seems like a great place to study the art. I hope to train there one day.

Muay Thai, the-one-time favored military art of kings, is now, a king among martial arts. The authentic rules in Muay Thai competition, the fighters can punch, knee, kick, and elbow to most parts of the opponents body, including the legs, the head, and the face. No other hand-to-hand combat sports in most parts of the world dare to allow these rules in their competition for fear of lethal injuries. The only true form of Muay Thai competition where all parts of the body are used as weapons can still be found only in Thailand. For those who cannot make the trip, we bring you this second volume of such fights. Fourteen legendary warriors, three vicious knockouts, seven ultimate fights.

Muay Thai: Ultimate Fights, Vol. 2.......2006-06-02
If you're in Muay Thai, this is a must see. A decent follow up to the first volume. Where else can you get to see legendary Muay Thai fighters, in their prime, fighting each others. The best part is it's in English. Lots of techniques and great timings by these fighters. Some brawls, and of course, good knockouts. Also, get the first volume. I like that one just a bit more.

Unless you're a fledgeling stand-up fighter..........2005-06-18
you'll likely not be THAT happy with this DVD. Seeing Master Janjira perform his his kicks on the bag IS pleasing, I grant you (his punches are ok); but the "Special Drills" are naught but: Working your abs while your training partner drops a double-end bag toward your face [to teach you lateral head movement against incoming punches], performing your kicks onto a bag while standing on a (weight)bench to improve your balance, using a heavy jumprope vs a standard jumprope to strengthen your arms, and "3 on 1 sparring" (which is not even 3 vs 1 [a drill I strongly recommend, albeit I suggest you start with 2 vs 1]- it is simply sparring 1 opponent for a set time and then having opponent #2 relieve opponent #1, and then be relieved by opponent #3. That is, you spar 3 guys one after another with no break. What an amazing drill! (I'm being sarcastic.) There may have been other "drills" on the DVD - equally as memorable. (I don't remember them. No, wait, there was also a "plom" [neck clinching] "drill" - practice neck clinching against your 3 opponents, one after another, until you are fatigued.)It was nice to see an "old school" gym in the DVD (made me feel like I was in my yesteryears) and his pointers and performance are sound, but if you are intermediate and above, you'd probably do well to save your money for another purchase, (please feel free to e-m me any good suggested alternatives - MarcoEC@Hotmail.com)or at least not pay full price for this DVD. Peace, MC
