Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2007-06-20

Having both the SD DVD and the HD(Blu-ray) DVD versions, I can say without a doubt that the detail in HD is fantastic with the clouds of flies that surround the buffalos being clearly obvious. The detail of the Lions is such that you feel they are in the room with you. The program is exciting and keeps you on the edge of your chair for the whole 90min duration. Who will win? as the tables are turned time and time again, the buffalos or the lions? Expertly filmed and narrated. In 5.1 Dolby Digital audio, so the sound is also fantastic.
As it is Region Free, this BD DVD can be enjoyed worldwide.
A must for wildlife fans.
The HD(Blu-ray) format is really suited to wildlife/nature programs, and hopefully a lot more wildlife programs in this format will be available soon.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing pictures.......2007-06-14

Absolutely amazing pictures showing the battle and ongoing evolution of hunter and prey in the Okavango Delta between Lyons and buffalos - unique material - amazing details with blu ray

4 out of 5 stars National Geographic Relentless Enemies.......2007-05-17

the subject material I would give an 9 out of 10
the picture - 8
the sound - 9

3 out of 5 stars Too long for one subject only.......2007-05-13

The images are great, there's a three-lion fight impressive and it's interesting and well done as most NatGeo films, but... After 20-25 minutes you've had enough of so much of the same.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing cinematography and narration!.......2007-03-29

The first true nature documentary to be released on HD formats and, boy, is it excellent!

This is a 90-minute documentary on a pride of lions and their buffalo prey trapped on an island in the Okavango delta. There is an extrememly informative narrative throughout the whole program with some fascinating moments.

The picture is truly amazing in HD. You can see every hair on the lion's mane, every fly buzzing around a buffalo, and every blade of grass concealing the hunters. Incredible.

The sound is an achievement, too. You've got to have surround sound for this. The bellows of the lions, the grunts of the buffalo, and the laughs of the hyenas surround you and immerse you in Africa completely!

And the narration by Jeremy Irons is worth the price alone.

If you have a Blu-ray player, this is a must-buy! I absolutely loved it!

4 out of 5 stars CLASSICAL MUSIC FOR THE LIONS IN ACTION?.......2007-03-27

I don't know how ridiculous it can get using classical type of music in the program for wild wild lion action. The next thing you know is that they'll have Placido Domingo sing to the graphic killing scenes of lions eating a buffalo alive in these wild action programs.

I can't really rate this movie because I've never seen it. I've rented this movie twice from Netflix, before and after I updated my 360 HD-DVD player, and it was unplayable both times.

I am very disappointed with this particular HD DVD. It didn't work in my xbox 360 HD DVD attachment, so I had it replaced only to witness the same result. I let a friend try it in his HD DVD player and it still didn't work. I feel sorry for anyone purchasing Relentless Enemies. I expect better from a Warner Bros. distributed product.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The most underrated guitarist in the world!.......2006-02-11

I only give 5 star reviews, because I'm only interested in turning people on to the things I love most. Walter Trout has just entered that category. Playing just his stratocaster through a Mesa Boogie Mark IV amp with the rare Mesa Boogie Leslie-copy rotating speaker and no effects, Walter Trout pulls out all the stops in this incredible concert.

He has been unfairly accused of being derivative (gimme a break! ALL blues rock is derivative!) He has been unfairly accused of copping Stevie Ray's style and riffs. They have common blues roots, but Trout is much less reliant on effects, and clearly has his own chops influenced by a number of the blues greats (Albert King, to name one) and he even pulls off some of the same speed and volume-knob manipulation of the late great Roy Buchanan. Plus, having played with John Lee Hooker and Big Mama Thornton, he has firmly established his credibility as a genuine bluesman, even if he is doing blues/rock now. To put it simply, he's absorbed the best blues/rock influences and blended them into his own passionate, fiery style.

I'm a fair guitarit myself, and after one viewing of the DVD and several listens to the CD of Relentless, Trout is the one guitarist whose style I would most aspire to master. As a solo act he is generous to his band members in letting them stretch out on their own instruments instead of just having them playing rote accompaniment.

It is also clear that lyrically he comes from a very genuine place. Collingswood is a great example, wherein he effectively conveys the fear, pain and anger (and relief and comfort from other family) of growing up in a household with a violent alcoholic stepfather. He pulls his blues from deep within his own soul, and when he rocks hard he takes his solos right up to the edge of cacophony, momentarily crosses that line, and then takes complete melodic control again. If he has anything like a weak point it would be his acoustic songs, which don't quite convey the same passion as his electric work, but even then he still packs more genuine emotion and heartfelt melody into the acoustic material than most other acts in his genre.

If you love blues, rock, blues/rock, and even some metal guitar, this DVD is a rare treasure. I sat dumbfounded with a satisfied smirk on my face through the entire first viewing of this DVD. The production values are also a guitarist's dream, with the visual focus clearly placed on Trout's style and technique. The interviews, while not slickly produced or eloquent, reveal exactly what you'd want to know about this virtuoso after hearing him - his gear and how he uses it, influences and background - all relevant background on his music and how he makes it.

I like this every bit as much as anything by Johnny Winter, Roy Buchanan, Gary Moore, Stevie Ray, Clapton, or any of the other rock/blues fusion guitarists. Only one copy in stock as I write this - I really hope Amazon and Ruf records will keep making this available to the world. I'd heard of Walter Trout some time ago when I lived in Orange County CA, and now I'm kicking myself in the okole for not seeing him at the coachhouse or other clubs there - odds are he won't be playing in Hawaii anytime soon. BUY THIS DVD RIGHT NOW! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

5 out of 5 stars A long wait for the pride.......2005-10-06

In my opinion, Its the best one. Amazing, wonderfull, fantastic.
You bet!

5 out of 5 stars Walter burns it up.......2005-04-10

He just smokes the blues with raging riffs and deep felt guitar work. You can see he has really put his heart out into this work. He guitar work is hard and fast at times and soulful at others. And to top it off he really is a nice guy! For guitar players....he tells all about his rig/guitar etc. Money very well spent.

5 out of 5 stars A great look at a "soon to be" legend.......2005-02-23

I can hardly believe the slam review written by "Blues Hammer". I'll admit I'm a huge Trout fan and have seen him perform on every tour through the Midwest since my first taste back in 97 or 98.

There are a lot of variations in what is considered Blues, but I find Walter's original songs and performance skills unique and all his own. Walter will do some classics, but he never settles for re-hashing a bunch of old tunes just to get a CD out. Walter has a sound and a style there that I just don't hear from anyone else.

I think anyone who has a history with Walter Trout will find this DVD contains a great cross section of his music performed the way it sounds best, live and fresh. For newcomers it's a front row seat to a great concert.

Whether it's the up front, in your face style of "I'm Tired", the soulful ballad "Jericho Road", or the blue-collar "Best You Got" it's Walter and the boys on stage performing some great new tunes. Throw in the excellent sound and camera work in one of the band's favorite venues and you have a great live performance worth watching over and over again.

It's a definite must have for Walter fans, or for anyone who enjoys some original contemporary blues music with a little "attitude".

5 out of 5 stars BUY IT-YOU WON'T BE SORRY.......2004-05-08

I became a instant Walter Trout fan 1 month ago, with the purchase of this concert on CD.I like the blues and man this guy can flat out play 'em.I have since went crazy and have bought this DVD and just about all the other CD's.I personally find his lyrics refreshing, uplifting and mature.I am now a BIG FAN...BUY IT!!!

The chilling Afraid of the Dark follows a psychic boy troubled by a razor-toting slasher who preys on defenseless blind women. Sam Dietz (Leo Rossi: 'Halloween 2', 'Maniac Cop 2'), a cop from New York, has made detective grade. He is re-assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department, and his first assignment is to track down a relentless serial killer, who chooses his victims from the phone book.

Judd Nelson puts in the finest performance of his carreer, as Arthur 'Buck' Taylor, the disturbed maniac who harbours a personal vendetta against the police department.

Robert Loggia (Bill Malloy) is on top form as Dietz's older, and more experienced, partner. Loggia is an accomplished supporting actor, having played prominent roles throughout his carreer in films like 'The Lost Highway', 'Gladiator', and 'Scarface'. He is apltly cast in the detective duo role, and played a similar character alonside Martin Sheen in 'The Believers'.

William Lustig ('Maniac Cop' 1, 2 & 3; 'Maniac') is renown for his portrayal of maniacal characters, and has directed some excellent horror/slasher films in his time. 'Relentless' stands alongside 'Maniac Cop' as one of his most accomplished achievements as a director.

    Sinister, edge-of-the-seat action.

Late night viewing recommended ... but don't answer the phone!

2 out of 5 stars Not all that it's cracked up to be.......2002-02-25

Relentless was Judd Nelson's best film. Though it's not great at all, the kills are stupid, and so is the story. If you want a really good serial killer movie, buy The watcher with Keanu Reeves. This film was stupid and not at all frightening or grotesque like they said it would be. It could have been much better. But I give Judd Nelson 5 stars for doing his best in this film. Though the story and plot stunk.

5 out of 5 stars Better than the usual slaher flick........1999-09-05

I watched this movie thinking it was just going to be another slasher flick. Boy, was I wrong. All of the actors are first rate, especially Nelson as the demented killer. Buy this movie now! Note: This film is not for the squeamish!

5 out of 5 stars Better than most of the "stalk and slash" films........1999-08-12

Though not one of my favorites, Judd Nelson gives his best performance in Relentless, playing a serial killer. Director William Lustig has made several films about maniacs, but Relentless is one of his best. With a supporting cast including Leo Rossi and Robert Loggia, Relentless is superior to many of the mad slasher movies of its genre.

      Description

When the fear stops... you're dead! Detective Sam Dietz (The Accused's Leo Rossi battles his most unspeakable adversaries ever in two shocking thrillers! In Relentless 3, a savagely cunningly serial killer is carving up innocent young women and taunting police by mailing them pieces of his handiwork. Reluctantly, Dietz joins the case which takes a nightmarish personal twist when the sexual-psychopath turns his murderous attentions to Sam's beautiful girlfriend. But as the maniac closes in, Sam realizes there's something hauntingly familiar about the killer's grisly technique-- a clue that will lead Sam to the shocking truth and plunge him into a chilling confrontation with absolute, uncontrollable evil! Then Dietz returns in Relentless 4 as a bloodthirsty serial killer with a passion for ritualistic executions picks his targets based on their connection to a beautiful psychiatrist (X-Men's Famke Janssen) who's hiding a deadly secret of her own! RELENTLESS 3 is rated "R" for strong violence and sexuality, and for language. RELENTLESS 4 is rated "R" for violence and some strong sexuality.
