Shannon Whirry stars in this sequel to Animal Instincts and it is directed again by the legendary XXX feature specialist Gregory Hippolyte (he directed the other under the pseudonym Greg Dark).

The plot:
Joanna Fleming likes to be watched; it ignites a desire within her that's hard to control. Her neighbor, Steve has a secret of his own: he likes to watch. Their passion burns hot as they fulfull their fantasies... until Joanna meets and falls in love with Eric Seaver. Now she's forced to make a choice, not just a choice between two men, but what might be a choice between life and death.

Pheromones fly fast and furious when a dissatisfied housewife's (the awesomely pneumatic Shannon Whirry) discovery of her patrolman husband's (Maxwell Caulfield) voyeuristic tendencies lead them into a realm of uninhibited naughtiness (an area director Gregory Hippolyte knows extremely well, having directed a multitude of legendary XXX features under the pseudonym Greg Dark). Say what you will about the amateurish lead performances and gaping plot holes, but this piece of straight-to-video nirvana undeniably delivers the goods exploitation-wise, with some unexpectedly stylish camerawork, a few unexpected twists, and an amazing array of has-been character actors (John Saxon! David Carradine as a flesh-peddler! Jan-Michael Vincent!) in secondary roles. The picture quality on this aptly titled full-frame DVD is a trifle washed-out, but it does include a stellar sound mix, production notes, and an onscreen chapter list for viewers wanting to skip ahead to the, um, major story developments. --Andrew Wright

he only words I can think of for Shannon Whirry is "WOW". This is one of the sexiest women I have ever seen. Her performance was great.

Shannon Whirry makes the erotic thriller genre all hers with her incredibly hot performance as Joanne Cole, a housewife with some naughty hobbies. She plays while hubby watches. The plot is OK and the acting by the rest of the cast is better than she usually gets to work with. This DVD looks really good but I'm not giving up my VHS copy of the unrated version. If they release that very hot version on DVD buy it. I will. Shannon Whirry may not give her best or most sensual performance in this movie but she blasts all the pretenders off the screen. Her physical attributes and sensuality combine with a real wholesomeness that comes through with enough truth to steal your heart.

Whirry has got to be the hottest erotic flick actresses in a while. This flick really has a crazy storyline to it, but seeing Whirry in those scampy undergarments and in the flesh is an absolute treat. Sex isn't taken to the extreme, but eroticism reigns throughout. Overall, your basic sex flick with more drama to it.

If you like to watch movies with lots of skin and not much plot...This is your movie. Shannon Whirry is at her best and there is more skin B-movie-ness for the whole family!

Gernert/Garroni/Hippolye Productions/Axis Films made a name for themselves and an overnight star of actress and then newcomer Shannon Whirry with this steamy tale based loosely on a well known true story. Whirry portrays the character Joanne Cole, a woman on the verge...of wild sex, of 'generous' lovers, and of wanton violence that could end it all. Her husband (Maxwell Caulfield) is an overworked cop close to the edge. When he continues to ignore his wife's intimate needs, Joanne turns to others to fulfill her desires. When she is caught by David in a compromising position, she realizes the way to get his attention is to let him watch. What he sees awakens his 'Animal Instincts'. This film features a collage of familiar actors: David Carradine, very effective in his role as the sinsiter under-world type William Lamberti; Jan-Michael Vincent, as the corrupt city councilman Fletcher Ross; and ex-gymnast Mitch Gaylord in a small but effective role as David's cop partner, just to name a few. A sensual brew of violence and passion is mixed with some of the boldest couplings ever to be granted an UNRATED designation. This film also features a very effective original sound score by studio artists LIXX Array, whose synthesizer renditions are some of the best compliments to the already excellent direction (Gregory Hippolyte) and provactive cinematography in recent memory. If a 'racy' movie occasionally is your 'oyster' treat yourself to this gem that redefined the term 'Erotic Thriller' in 1992, and set the standard by which all others of that genre are now judged. Excellent!

This DVD doesn't have much of Piranha scenes as I expected. The scene they keep repeating again and again looks as though it was shot in an aquarium. but the info is rather good.

Great B movie.......2006-02-07

This review is for the full uncut version which lasts about 90 minutes. I've recently purchased this movie again and I received the 82 minute version which removes a lot from the sex scenes. The long version is great and I would like to get my hands on it.

Good softcore, but Shannon really should have been casted.......2004-12-30

This is the last (so far) installment in the "Animal Instincts" series (again, interested persons are recommended to get the uncut/unrated version). It's also one of the last softcores directed by Gregory Hippolyte (a/k/a pornmeister Greg Dark of the Dark Brothers), and in fact is one of his best. Wendy Schumacher is no Shannon Whirry, who _owns_ the role of Joanna, but she does her best and turns in some quite hot scenes (especially her first sex scene with the male lead; she's aroused beforehand by watching a threesome which is another of the erotic high points).
Good softcore can often be more erotically exciting than hardcore, and this movie is a case in point.

Where's Shannon Whirry.......2001-05-16

Wendy Schumaker does an adequate job replacing the lucious Shannon Whirry in the starring role. Shannnon, however, is amazingly beautiful and sexy in Animal Instincts. Besides an unbelievalbe body, Shannon Whirry also possesses an incredibly long tongue which she readily uses on no less than six different actors. The first Animal Instincts is Shannon's film debut, and oh my, it's quite a treat to see her use that long tongue time and time again. Aminal Instincts 3 is worthwhile, but, hey, where is Shannon Whirry?

If you like B movies, then I think you would like this one. The plot is cheesy - a guy fakes being blind so he can indulge his voyeur fetish. He hooks up with the perfect girl. If you like to see a lot of skin, this would be a great movie for you.

And I don't mean that in a good way. The acting in this movie is awful. Even the sex. About the only thing actress Wendy Schumacher has going for her is her gravity-defying chest. And the whole plot with the blind music producer and the exhibitionist? Give me a break. This movie is bad, even for a skin flick. 2 stars.
