Description
When a series of tremors rocks Los Angeles, seismologist Kimberly Stevenson (Janet Gunn) is sent to investigate the quakes' epicenter, a desolate wilderness known as the Angeles National Forest. Two hundred miles from civilization, Kimberly and her son, Justin (Scott Terra), set up a research facility in an isolated mountain cabin. The project takes a sinister turn when Kimberly discovers that she has stumbled upon a test site for black market nuclear weapons. With the help of mercenary Michael Brandies (Jack Scalia), Kimberly must race against time to stop a final nuclear test that could trigger the most powerful quake California has ever known.

Product Description
This DVD has 95 minutes of vintage Earthquake disaster footage, spanning from as far back as 1906 up to 1973 and the inception of the the President's Office of Emergency Preparedness. Included are two films that show California in the midst of Earthquake crisis, once in 1906 and once in 1973. Contrasting the changes in the two situations makes for an interesting, first-hand visual learning experience! TABLE OF CONTENTS: (1) Earthquake (1973) - Take an inside documentary look at the San Fernando Valley Earthquake of 1971. Real rescue footage from newsreels are highlighted along with well done reenactments of real-time Earthquake situations. A great feature about emergency coordination, preparedness and general rescue mobilization that even has a cameo with Ronald Reagan, back when he was governor of California. This is a highly recommended disaster documentary! Length: 27 minutes (2) Men, Steel and Earthquakes (1960s) - This educational piece from the 1960s focuses on the fortification of buildings with steel and cement, and how this structure is affected by earthquake. There are lots of good explanations about seismic energy, architecture and plenty of cool 60s science animations! Length: 28 minutes (3) 1906 San Francisco Earthquake Film Collection (1906) - This is an amazing collection of silent 1906 footage immediately after a major Earthquake had destroyed many areas of San Francisco. There's footage of cleanup crews, people searching for their homes and relatives, mass destruction and auto trips down Market Street. About 10-15 minutes of the film is jumpy and the frames roll, but the fact that this rare 1906 film even exists is amazing! There is some great panoramic camera movement, along with some slow-motion and fast-motion photography. This is as close to a first hand view you'll get of early 20th-century American natural disasters! Length: 40 minutes Total Running Time: 95 Minutes
