Description
The Power of Uechi Ryu Karate
This is an exciting video that shows the extreme power of this unique style of Okinawan karate. In 1897, an Okinawan by the name of Kanbun Uechi (1877-1948) traveled to China and studied martial arts. He was instructed in a typical tiger-crane style known as Pangai Noon. In 1948, the style was renamed Uechi Ryu by his son Kanei Uechi (1911-1988). Kanei continued to teach the style after his father's death. Today, Uechi Ryu is very popular in Okinawa. It is a style typified by powerful techniques, highly effective self-defense applications and dynamic strength building kata. This video also shows the rugged full-contact sparring Uechi Ryu is known for. This video is a must for the serious practitioner of Uechi Ryu karate and those interested in this unique karate style. 60 min.

Calidad del producto..........2007-01-12
La calidad del contenido de este DVD podría haber sido un poco mejor; algunos fragmentos parecen haber sido tomados de un VHS antiguo.
Don't waste your money.......2006-02-15
It's all about a karate lesson going on, and someone video taped it. Those rate 4 stars and above are probably people in the classes who bought it for their own collection. The whole show was shot under poor lighting (I think he does not want the distract the class that was going on.) and quite blurry.

This dvd demonstrates how powerful uechi ryu can actually be. It's a good dvd for the uechi ryu fan but a better dvd for anyone who has doubted the power found in the uechi ryu style. It's an excellent buy and comes highly recommended from an experienced martial artist.
amazing.......2004-08-07
I am so glad I bought this video! Wow! This video explains and teaches so much about Uechi Ryu Karate, I don't know how I got along without it. Great for anyone looking to improve their techniques and gain a better insight into this awesome style of Karate.
Very well pleased!.......2003-10-23
I just got done watching this DVD and can't understand why someone would give it such a low and negative rating. I don't see any problem with the quality, it's not digital, but so what.
I found it to be well orchestrated and highly informative about the Uechi Ryu style and the history of it's techniqes. It teaches alot about the style and as I said before the quality is fine and completely acceptable.
